Happy Halloween!
Posted 4 days agoAnother ween has come and gone, but it was still a great one- probably the best I’ve had for a few years. I spent my morning relaxing, my afternoon fursuiting at a Halloween event hosted by a local charity supporting disabled adults, and then dressed like Victor from Corpse Bride and had my own party in the evening with my work buddies- who are honestly some of the greatest people (and sheep. And cows. And raccoons ;) ) ever ;w; . We just ate cake and calzones and candy, played with my cat and watched Rocky Horror.
Sad that the season is over and a little bummed that the retail hell is dawning (I have such a love/hate relationship with the winter holidays especially ;w; ) but if anything, I had a magical Halloween, and I’ve had my fill of festivities for the time being… that is until this time next month and I’m missing Halloween all over again ^^; . And of course, just because spooky season has drawn to a close doesn’t mean my spooky art ever will- I’m spooky 365 ;)

Been sicky + Pupdates
Posted 2 weeks agoSorry for the kind of low amount of activity lately; I've been recovering from feeling icky sicky. Still not completely over it, but doing much better than before <3. Hoping I'm able to continue getting well, especially as my favorite day of the year draws ever closer! I've got some charity suiting to do the day of, and then planning on hosting a lil get together with my friends from work.
But besides that, I figured I'd update everyone on how I've been doing lately! So far, besides being sick this past week, I've been having a pretty good October. I showcased some art at my local mall for a day which was cool, and then I spent an evening at the movies and then dinner with my work friends for the 20th anniversary rerelease of Corpse Bride, which was SUCH a major treat ;w; .
Hoping for a good rest of the month too and that I continue to recover nicely ^^
But besides that, I figured I'd update everyone on how I've been doing lately! So far, besides being sick this past week, I've been having a pretty good October. Got Scammed- UPDATE
Posted 2 months agoGot my DA account back. Thankfully, staff seemed pretty on it and was able to reinstate my account. I have since continued to let my community on there updated as to what had happened, and what steps they can take in order to avoid getting catfished themselves.
Again, as pissed off I am about DA being ridden with scammers, bots, AI, and allllll of their other scummy misdeeds in the past few years especially, but again, it's still where I make the most money, and have the most friends. It's a hellhole, but it's my hellhole I guess ;w; .
So, any other DA users on there, PLEASE stay vigilant and safe. If you get a message telling you to contact someone named "Austin Buck" or simply saying that they "have a concern" DO NOT ANSWER IT. Stay safe and avoid making the same mistake I did, PLEASE.

'bers, Brides, and Beej
Posted 2 months agoThe 'Ber months are upon us and I am especially in such a Halloween mood. I mean, I'm never not in a Halloween mood honestly, but now that the year is coming to a close faster by the second, I am so ready to enjoy the pure bliss that is Fall and Halloween especially. That being said, in order to get me even more into that frame of mind, I've been giving Beej- my Beetlejuice hyena- the refurb he deserves as well. As of last night, I just finished up his head refurb. I love him to death, especially since I finally decided to bite the bullet and try using a wig on him (which I didn't do too bad with if I do say so myself). His tail is about halfway done, and I just started cutting out pieces for his paws, so since I am making so much progress on him (and the fact that he's only a mini partial with a signature outfit to tie him all together), I'm planning on taking more photos of him with the entire costume being finished instead of just sharing the head like I did with Peaches. In addition to working on Beej, my other major Burtony love- Corpse Bride- is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and I am so hyped. end of August-end of November is kind of my peak reawakening of my Corpse Bride special interest for me, and I especially think it's hitting even more this year because of the anniversary. Heard some select theaters will be bringing the movie back to theathers in October for a limited re-release in honor of the anniversary, and at least one of my work friends and I are planning on going. I've seen the movie probably a hundred times (no, I'm not joking), but it'll be such a treat to see it on the big screen, especially since I was little when it originally came out and was TERRIFIED of the idea back then. Somewhat off-topic, I suppose, but I find it funny that some of the things that used to scare me as a little little kid comforted me in my preteen years and still comfort me to this day. I'm just happy that I got braver and realized just how gentle the movie actually is. But anyway, planning on making a drawing for the anniversary too, with a furry twist of course, and slowly but surely making progress on it.
Finally, I've been thinking a lot about Drawlloween lately. I don't think any of the official prompt lists are out yet, and personally, with just how demanding my job is, there is no way I'm going to be able to do 31 days of art in a row- like that's just not gonna happen. But, maybe I'll pick prompts I like, or find a way to do my own thing so that I'm still making some spooky drawings in honor of the season, all while honoring the fact that my work just saps my energy that much ;w;
But that'll be all for now I think. Have a spooky last four months of the year!

Relieved + Suit Update
Posted 3 months agoGot my old job back today. While the place wasn't perfect, I loved the people there, and I felt relatively comfortable doing what I was doing. So I'm proud to say I am back. Starting again tomorrow morning. Will still keep Comms sorta opened, but now I don't have to be as pushy about them since they won't be my only source of income. I am also in the works of dreaming up a YCH for spooky season, so keep your eyes out for that potentially. The theme will be revealed later, but I can say it's based on a spooky property that will be celebrating a major anniversary this year.
As for the second part of this title- the suit update- Peaches is coming along astonishingly well. I have all (except for one that I messed up on lol) parts of their fur cut and pre-shaved, and I have just started sewing things together. My plans also include remaking their tail, and re-furring their toes on their feetpaws, but right now, I just want to spend as much time as I can getting the fur job to be where I want it to be.

Posted 3 months agoSo, after six nightmare shifts, I have deided that I am going to quit my new job. Yes, already. But with coworkers constantly fighting with each other, managers being exceptionally rude to me, and people talking about me behind my back (plus, I also burnt my arm and now I have a big ugly scar that has every possibility to be permanent or close to it), I knew that this place was highly toxic and things were only going to get worse if I stayed. I haven't officially told anyone that I quit yet, but at the same time, I was still in training, and none of the bosses wanted to take any responsibilty for ensuring my welbeing, so I knew things were gonna suck more if I stuck it out.
So, that being said, I am currently in job limbo. I have sent an email over to my previous employer asking if it would be possible to get my job back with them (not that that environment was very PHYSICALLY healthy for me, but at least I had friends at that job, and the one boss who pretty much hated me for no real reason has left the company too.) However, again, there is still no guarantee that I will be able to get my job there back in the first place.
That being said, I think I am going to try to be more active with growing my art as a CAREER rather than just a monitized hobby. I will admit, I have no idea how to properly get Ko-Fi followers (or what even to POST to Ko-Fi to begin with), and consistently posting and marketing myself on non-gallery social media is a real crapshoot (and the places are just cesspools to begin with; I don't know why I even give social media the time of day...), so anybody with more experience with marketing themselves and of actually running a creative business. Especially since executive dysfunction is just... hitting me hard. Especially right now.
But I'm trying my best to remain optimistic. Working at a grocery store was never my life's dream anyway, and I'm still only 24, and have a whole lot of time ahead of me to figure stuff out. And if anything, I got a good lesson from all of this, which can basically be summed up to leave the baking to the professionals. You're meant to be a fursuit maker, or an animator, or an illustrator, or some other type of creative.
But yeah, comms reopen as of now. Feel free to spread around info as possible.

Refurbing Peaches... Again!

I don't know what possessed me to say "go redo the entire fur job and add more to the sculpt" but here we are. There was some issues with her neck and lining, and I figured screw it, I'm going to go fix the glaring structural and general sculpt mistakes I see in this build while I'm at it. And now that I'm not on con crunch, I'll be able to spend the rest of my year getting her in top condition for Fur The More next year, and any other events I might be attending.
So, as of right now, she just a skull XP . Just ordered a fancy 3D printed set of eye blanks, teeth, and nose to go on the *hopefully* final build of the babe. Planning on getting a wig to use for her too, as well as testing out some printed eye mesh, and the potential of airbrushing too. Lots of little innovations with this fixer upper, and I'm excited to see how she turns out once again!
In addition, I'm also highly considering doing major refurbs on Maxwell and Beej as well. My making style has improved so much since I last made them a few years ago, and they could definitly use some tlc <3

New Job!
Posted 4 months agoOfficially got a new job! I’m a cake decorator now! It’s no animation job, but it’s much more creative, and at least there will be air conditioning at the grocery store I’m working at ;w; Here’s hoping I enjoy this job more and that I am treated better there ❤️🩹
I feel bad for switching so early on in my current job, but YIKES is the place I’m working for ran really really poorly. I’ve never been more exhausted working any job- creative or not- and I used to work midnights during the holidays at my previous retail position… so that says a lot. I need to take care of myself mentally and physically, and I think doing a slightly more creative job will definitely help with at least the mental side of things. And as much as I’m going to miss my friends at my current job, they all still live close by and I’ll see them enough anyway.
But overall, I’m really, really proud of myself. Every day I step closer and closer to my dreams. And who knows? Maybe I’ll find passion in decorating cakes! Always wanted to be on Halloween Wars anyway 👀

Posted 4 months agoBetween my shitty job, my mom possibly needing surgery again, and just the fact that travel is expensive, I will no longer be able to make Furrydelphia. I’m angry, I’m bummed, but it’s probably for the best.

Some thoughts this June
Posted 5 months agoEven as somebody who's a part of the LGBTQ+ community, Pride Month can be a bit hard for me. Especially because I still don't exactly know who I am, and due to the place where I live, and my extended family (I am lucky to have an immediate family who I feel is pretty accepting, but still), I don't really feel like I have the capability currently to be fully out and myself in public. And I envy- but am incredibly happy for- my fellow queer and trans friends who are able to do this in spite of the situations they're in.
One day though, I will be able to break free fully, and until then, I'll continue fighting this uphill battle and trying to express who I am as best I can with people I know are safe.

Pupdates, TEEZR, and Raw Paw
Posted 6 months agoHey, been a while since I was last truly active on here.
Slowly but surely finding the time and will to make art again after my family scare, as well as the passing of a dear friend of mine (miss you so much Devvie <33333), but glad things are slowly starting to look up a little bit again even in the midst of the awfulness that was the last two and a half/three weeks. So... I've got some updates!
Firstly, I have been selected to become an artist with a budding shirt site called TEEZR! My store is a little bare atm, but I am slowly but surely uploading designs. Check it out here! : https://tee-zr.com/store/localpeaches-studios/
Secondly, in addition to TEEZR, I am in the process of entering Raw Paw's shirt design competition! As of right now, my design hasn't gone live (and won't until the 15th of next month), but keep your eyes peeled for that!
In addition, I am also super excited to be fursuiting again. I am slowly planning on attending at least one more convention this year- probably either Furrydelphia or FursonaCon -so I'm slowly trying to save up for that. Plus, if I wind up going to FD, I can stay with my best friend from college at his new place, which is about an hour away from the con site so... yippee! But in addition, I am planning on suiting for a charity event; a family fun day sponsored by an employment center for disabled individuals!!! And as a developmentally disabled individual, I am super super honored they selected me to be one of their character actors for their carnival event! And the best part? They LOVE Peaches, so I'm going to be able to wear my own fursuit which is great! Can hardly wait to let everyone know how it goes this June!!!!
Also, new display name ha ha! Love the new FA update. I'm planning on eventualy changing it to my main handle (LocalPeaches), but for now, I am enjoying being known as the Bride of Beetlejuice heheheheheh >;3

Well that was a horrifying few hours
Posted 7 months agoGovernment rolled back the furlough!!! Mom’s job is secured again for another year. Holy shit I’m so relieved. They legit just scared an entire contract for a week and then pulled an 11th hour stunt.
Still, fuck the government, but holy shit am I relieved that mom’s going to be able to keep her job, at least for another year. Still worried what next year will bring, but at least this year seems a little less stressful.
Thank you to all who showed their support in one way, shape or form you guys are the BEST.
And also, commission wise… they’re still open! Just not an emergency anymore thank god.
Still, fuck the government, but holy shit am I relieved that mom’s going to be able to keep her job, at least for another year. Still worried what next year will bring, but at least this year seems a little less stressful.

Well, technically, furloughed, but her ex-boss has pretty much told us that getting the contract back is- at least currently- highly unlikely. As of the end of today, she- and 70+ others- are out of a job.
I can't say I'm surprised, but my grief and my anger are immesurable. I don't want to go too much more into it, but she worked as an independent contractor to a government agecy, and if any of you are even remotely aware of what's been going on with the US government... yeah... Fuck Trump. Fuck DOGE. I highly doubt I have any watchers currently who are supporters of them, but still, unfriendly reminder that if you support what's going on in any way, shape or form, GTFO. You suck.
As initially discussed, I will be opening up emergency commissions starting now, (DM me for prices/details/etc.) and will be preparing to list some of my plushies, as well as Titan and (what once was- since I'm keeping the character for now) Autopsy for sale to help out more because my crappy-ass minimum wage job just ain't cutting it. Especially since everyone at my job has had their hours slashed in half. These sales will be going on for... pretty much as long as I need to host them. Because I have no idea as to what our next steps are.
We will have enough money to survive for until this time next year, if no more disasters happen, but after that, all bets are off. We may have to move; either to another part of MD, or to another state; whatever we need to do. Plus, with mom being a chronically ill and physically disabled woman in her late 50s, finding a job is going to be extremely difficult for her. And applying for disability or another form of financial support is going to take at least a year or two in order to get all of the paperwork processed.
Thank you all for your kindness, and please, please share this to as many people you can. We all need as much support as we can possibly get.

Posted 7 months agoSo, none of this is completely official yet, and I sincerely hope it DOESN'T happen, but there is every possibility that my mom may lose her job. Again, it hasn't happened yet, and I am hoping with every ounce of myself that it doesn't happen, but we will all be made aware of the final decision in ten (10) days if she's been laid off or not.
That being said, I am currently considering what my next course of action will be. If the decision is made that my mom has been laid off, I will be opening emergency commissions as soon as humanly possiblle. In addition, I am slowly but surely planning which of my plushies, figurines, and OCs I would be willing to part with, and I will also place two of my fursuits on the market for sale as well.
I will let everyone know what the final decision is, but as of right now, I just figured I would make this publicly known that this has every possibility of happening and I am weighing all of my options.
I hope the followup journal to this one will be much more lighhearted than this one, but I promise I will keep all of you in the know about my family's current sitution. In the meantime, I'm exhausted, and I need all the well wishes and support I can possibly get.

Posted 8 months agoSo… my old Peaches fursuit has officially fallen apart, and at SUCH a bad timing too 😢. I was planning on doing some repairs in my old head, but one pull to hard and the entire thing snapped in half frontways due to dry rot. My convention is this weekend, and even though I have other suits, it would suck to not have my fursona for it. That being said though, and on a much more positive note, I am currently working on making a brand new Peaches head!
Shockingly, in the span of two days, I’m almost completely done with them. All I have left to do is to sew and fur the ears and cheek tufts, sew the lining to the neck, and add earrings and cosmetic details. I have work today and tomorrow, and *possibly* Wednesday too, but I’ve got the day before the con off, and don’t have to check into my hotel until later in the day, so due to the amount of progress I’ve made, I might just make it! Plus, in general, even though I’m definitely working at a much quicker pace than I would like, at the same time, I’m having a lot of fun with remaking her. Just, again, the timing kind of sucks ^^;
As upset as I was to lose Peaches 3.0, I’m going to be so unbelievably happy when I finally finish 4.0 because I’m seriously in love with how they’re turning out. And I promise that my first pictures of my new suit will be taken at FM!

Fur The More And Fursuit Stuff!
Posted 8 months agoHoly crap I’m so damn excited for Fur The More ;w; . This is my second year in a row attending and I’ve had the tickets since last September! Can hardly believe the time has finally come. Looking forward to suiting up as Peaches and Beej again; been too long since I last put a suit on…
That being said, I’m planning on changing some stuff about at least one of said suits. I just recently made a pair of legs for Peaches thanks to the JoAnne closing sales, and because I just recently bought a crap ton of nice grey fur and still have a lot left over, I am inspired to re-fur Peaches! My current Peaches head is really starting to show her age, and the current fur job on her just looks super sloppy. So my plan is to fix them up as best as I can now, since I know I’ve grown so much as a maker since then.
But I plan on waiting until after the con for the refurb, since I don’t want to not have her for the con. Plus, I also want to get some additional parts, such as a brand new nose and earrings from other makers in the FM dealer’s den to give them some additional flair. But yeah! Expect a Peaches revamp in the coming weeks!

Not tagging anyone in particular, because I don't want to force anyone to do anything if they don't want to or just can't do, so absolutely no pressure here. Just figured I'd make a list anyway just in case someone is inspired/compelled to make something XP
-Badges!!!!! I'm going to a con in less than a month so getting a badge of either Peaches or Beej (my hyena version of cartoon Beetlejuice) would be great!

To New Beginnings
Posted 10 months agoI just want to let you all know that I just got a brand new job! It's still a retail position, but at the same time, it's a much smaller business, they will ACTUALLY train me, and I will be much closer to where I live. In addition, I am sad to report that I am no longer affiliated with Childhood Cancer Society, as my contract just ran out, and I am also not totally in love with the artistic direction the Adventure Ted saga was moving in anyway (I would rather not go into detail :|) However, in Ted's place, I am also in conversation with another independent filmmaker, and will hope to start working on accompying animations for a documentary film! :D
So that being said, cheers to new beginnings. I look forward to starting my new positions :)

End of Year
Posted 10 months agoBecause it’s NYE, I guess I’m feeling a little sentimental. 2024 was honestly a really, really good year for me. My art business is ever growing, I sold at two in person craft shows, I got a part time job to earn some more money to fund my dreams, and I even (with the help of my grandmother) bought my first car! (And I also started driving too for that matter; got my license at the end of the summer).
I also started to FINALLY attend more conventions, and I went to my first two furry cons and my first oddities con! And I even went back to my childhood home away from home- Great Wolf Lodge! I swear that place is STILL fun ;w;
Even though I’m honestly worried about what the next few years will bring (and I know I’m not alone in that fact), at the same time, I continue to hope that good things still come my-and your- way, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Here’s to 2024; happy new year.
