Currently reading: Chemistry book for college... bla bla more interestingly tho ...
Unweaving The Rainbow, The Selfish Gene, Climbing Mount Improbable, and The Blind Watchmaker.
So far my favourite is Unweaving the Rainbow, the most interesting one is The Blind Watchmaker... Yes I know im a Dawkins fanboy shush its all very interesting.
I find it funny when he mentions things like: ...
"I am writing this on a computer with 64kB of RAM" or "Currently we can only fit a few hundred transistors in a human skull" because I understand these books were written before I was born but I just makes me chuckle when I think how far we have come from then and how revolutionary those ideas must have been for their time.
he makes me want to be a biologist unfortunately I'm set on electrical engineering now, maybe ill come back to it since i'm always up for a little biologically / evolutionary inspired design. The section on comparisons of radar and sonar technology during the world war to the humble bat rustled my jimmies.
side note should I draw anything ? no? ok well bye

K ill go back to school!
Posted 13 years agoI am attempting to go back to school, perhaps take a bridge program to get my electrical and computer engineering degree. I am not sure what will happen to the part of me which is a furry during that time. Most likely will have little or no time for anything fun : (.

Should I go back to school?
Posted 13 years agoShould I go back to school?
Should I go back to school?
Should I go back to school?
because its rather intimidating, it all seems very complicated and strange and a hassle to deal with the bureaucracy of formal education when I can just go to the library and surf the internet and watch online lectures and get the same information at my own pace into my head with no panic or stress for testing or deadlines or anything and seems more cost effective. I really hate politics,
All that it seems to me the difference is that you follow a more structure approach to learning and you end up with a piece of paper in the end that tells employers that you are recognized to have completed a education in whatever field by whatever fancy institution you went to. and yet you still have some people who for whatever reason dropped out of school and still ended up being experts in their fields with others who got formal education and never use it and.... nvmd
I think... my mind is going...
basically I hate stress, deadlines, tests, structured learning, but at the same time need to get a career/job which can support me and let me do stuff like travel to visit loved ones and funding towards my various projects which require the purchase of rather expensive specialized equipment and materials...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh T_T what do I do.. and my gf is in California doing her education to be an Astrophysicist and her father wants me to be a millionaire and have a higher degree etc .. I don't want to live in California..
I keep examining the space-time fabric and get these weird independent results that the component we call time is in fact a negative value. Unfortunately you would not notice anything weird about that living inside the universe because you would be born into having expectations that a forward flow of time corresponds to the order of events you observe which of course you would never find strange (because you were raised into it! ITS ALL YOU KNOW!). But things seem to change when you sit outside the universe. The math would seem to indicate from the outside looking into the frame of reference the universe would appear to in fact be collapsing inwards into a singularity. while from the inside out it would appear to be expanding at a greater and greater rate such as we see now (the negative pressure of empty space being analogous to an object accelerating towards a surface due to gravitational attraction). Singularities inside the reference frame would be nothing more than the universe compactifying itself into one dimension lower (3D -> 2D) this process essentially is "evaporating" the contents of space by recombining space into the more stable state which is was in the initial conditions of its expansion., that is canceling out the net energy of the universe which as far as we know is 0. A flat universe can have a net energy of 0.

My motivation is a dynamic mess of jiggling things... I know

I really need to do some stuff for people I told I am doing stuff for...
maybe I should focus on quantity not quality so my skill will improve so that I can be like some of the artist I see here who pump out like 5 beautiful works in a day!
Plus my brain sucks at thinking up sexy things atm so even the "smut" isn't really inspiring me to work.

Posted 13 years agoI need inspiration "dont we all" I get too distracted watching lectures and then just totally forget to draw or keep drawing... Then you have to go on facebook and tatatatatata then twitter and blabllalbla then blog then website a and website b and work on ur game a bit then get a phone call to work on a level editor so then im doing that, then I order better motors and start looking at stuff on ebay or what not then next thing you know you are reading 4 books at the same time on electrical distribution, richard dawkins books , lawrence krauss etc etc then your fixing some friends lightsabers (cause they buy lots of them must be star wars fan or something) all the drivers are whats wrong only one of them had a bad SFX board which still played sound but failed to power the driver so I swapped two boards and got 1 of the 3 broken ones working... they never put the part numbers on the parts or if they did they file them off so you can copy their design but I find the parts anyway and tell him to get a specific 2 drivers one a bucking LED driver for the red led and a boosting one for the green LED from 2.4W to 4W respectively. Bla bla bla bla.
On a side note I have been thinking about how one might carry information on a phase velocity change over ripples in space-time caused by modulating the distance between two massive objects (at very high speed orbits). Alternatively I suppose one could create a psuedo mass using graphene sheets deformed mechanically while at very low temperature with large currents flowing through them but that has yet to be tested (over a year into the published thesis) anyway its just something interesting because I remember it being stated that no information could travel thorough space faster than C but phase velocities have been demonstrated to move over 300x C a while ago i think was MIT, problem is the information is still stuck in the medium of which it travels so you still have to "wait" for it to arrive traveling near C and anything above that creates information which overlaps and becomes impossible to read essentially holding the nothing faster than C "law" I guess you could compare the mechanism being similar to the riding the wave of distorted space or bubble in Star Trek warp drive or more realistically the negative pressure of vacuum causing the accelerating expansion of space which is observed as the dopler effect , red/blue shift of light from galaxies in the distance (or for that matter all electromagnetic waves).
Oh anyway ya someone inspire me to draw!!!1111

also how do you draw curved lines again? in Photoshop? or how do you smooth hand drawn lines more than it does with smoothing enabled (need more smoothing) for some reason its easier to draw curved lines and stuff in like MS paint. .grrr im tired of manually fixing lines and thickness of lines etc.

Suggest stuff I should draw or try to draw!
Posted 13 years agoSometimes I wish I could draw like "insert artist here" but instead I draw like "my own style" and this pisses me off because I hate "my own style" and like the style of "insert artist here"
I have limited imagination so I feel like drawing but cant think of stuff, thanks to the last few people who suggested things tho! gave me something to work on. On a side note I bought like all of the books written by dawkins and a few from lawrence too. Untill they come in I have absolutely nothing interesting to read this is why I am trying to work on "art/porn" at because it gives me something to do.
So please suggest stuff!

I guess insects and stuff don't really rustle people jimmies enough or something.
Should I draw more bug porn?

Posted 13 years agoIn relating the brain (human or animal) to a machine what would more closely relate in terms of operation, the Von Neumann architecture or a Harvard/Modified Harvard architecture. I am not a neuro biologist/psychologist, only as a hobby do I find interest in these things so I am not an expert. I just don't know how the brain works beyond some laymen explanations and lectures. It seems we have a huge pile of data and no coherent brain theory or at least widely accepted yet. That aside my hypothesis involves artificial awareness in machines.
My current hypothesis is the Neumann architecture is the key (to emulating a brain) since I have a feeling that the parallel system stores both opcodes (instructions) and memory (data) in the same place using the same pathways (analogous to a data bus). I do understand that if I were to try to simulate even a simple system linearly to rival the size and distributed processing power of neurons; that it would be very slow unless I had a more capable computing platform. But I do feel that anything "magical"in such a system that quantum mechanics may imply is just not true or required (only an opinion I have no proof atm). Given that a simulated conscious machine should be possible to emulate (based on my hypothesis) on a linear processor given it has sufficient processing power or speed. The whole design of the system would be dependent on if opcodes and memory should be stored in the same manner in program space (analogous to a neuron - axon - synapse - dendrite physical pathway or structure etc).
I however do not see a reason why the Harvard architecture (separating the instructions and memory) would be unable to do the same thing given it could write its own pseudo code to interpret itself (seems less efficient). But I do admit that I fail to see any biological system striving for efficiency only the "just good enough" principle evolution has employed to make things work (fine tuning aside). Because of this I remain uncertain if my hypothesis even has grounds to continue to be worked on at all. My old computer models provided no demonstrable proofs of the hypothesis so it fails to keep me working on the project.
On a side note It is amazing to see that even simple things like pattern recognition and learning actually requires a great deal of computing resources despite biological organisms taking advantage of distributed processing power. If only all the old laptops and desktops I acquired so far had even a fraction of the power of a small bugs brain. Might be-able to employ so short cuts (hopefully this doesn't ruin the system preventing it from emulating the machine intelligence im looking for).
I put this question here because I currently have no other forum or blog to ask such a question at this time. I was hoping maybe just randomly some furry or person glancing at this may possibly be able to provide some insight or at least an opinion. If not at least be interested / peak curious.
yours truly, twilight sparkle.. I joke.

Need eerie sounding space sounds / music!
Posted 13 years agoI am no good at sound or music :(
I really need some sort of 8bit sounding / midi style / retro eerie space music.
alternatively I would like to find some random eerie sounds sort of like what you hear in Minecraft randomly but more space themed!
*curls up into a ball*
I also find it really weird how the moment I start making a space game with retro and Minecraft like qualities that Notch starts talking about making one, I believe he is in fact making it right as we speak however I think hes aiming for a game similar in style to Elite Atari ST! But its still a space trading / sim / RTS. I am curious to see with what he comes up with seeing as how Minecraft is so popular!

GOING OUT TO EAT
Posted 13 years agoGOING OUT TO EAT FOOD!
Ricky's :D Maybe ill have the supreme commander pizza? or maybe a philly cheese-stake sammich? or or um apple pie!
Today's lucky numbers are: A, $, and 42
apparently Canada is boring :( *cries all over the place*
on a side note I did go to the hardware store and got a bunch of different types of um thingies (nuts with round caps on the end) i guess some sort of finishing fastener thing. anyway got some nylon ones, steel, and some brass ones to experiment. The hard part will be making the cup part of the socket and getting the parallel arms to fit into the socket and to use springs or some sort of tension type of device to hold the parallel arms together so that the socket doesn't detach from the ball part during high speed high load conditions.
Having trouble with the field generator, DC burns up the coils so I wanted to use AC but that periodically causes the field to collapse so that leaves me unshielded for a short period of time. The solution would be to minimize the losses and zero crossing (low field intensity) region by using a square wave AC source that's high frequency and increase the surface area of the conductor used in the coils to allow for the skin effect to ultimately reduce resistive losses. I don't think peltier coolers are going to be enough to make a sort of solid state controlled near zero temperature for the coil housing :(
