Well hello
Posted 6 months agoAnyone else check FA so often that the fact that no submissions are showing up is slightly panic-inducing?
I wish the technicians working on fixing things the very best and thanks for doing a job I couldn't do!
Eagerly awaiting the flood of backloged art.

Appreantly I got out of the habit of uploading stuff
Posted a year agoThat's better. All the commissioned works from the last year abouts, or so, something like that, I think. Probably missed something.

Posted a year agoWell, things have certainly been interesting the last couple weeks, and very much in that 'may you live in interesting times' curse sort of way.
I hope everyone is safe and healthy and ready to return to enjoying the beautiful artwork of so many talented artists.
Thank you for all you do, no matter who you are.

Happy Whatever Yer Doin
Posted 3 years agoChristmas has been a central part of my life since I was a wee ball of fluff, and Chanukah is an important part of some of my friends' lives, and there are other traditions out there I wish I better understood. Whatever one you may be up to, even if it's just another Sunday of no significance, I wish you all the very best, with lots of chirps and other assorted cat nonsense.

Posted 9 years agoSadder cat news
Posted 9 years agoSeems the kidney failure was worse than the vet thought.
After several days of showing increasing signs of discomfort and inability to control her bladder, it was decided to let Lulu go today.
I am both thankful that I wasn't there to see her in pain as well as distressed that I didn't get to hold her one more time.
At 16, she was 91 in cat-years, and being an outdoor cat, that's pretty awesome.
Still... I miss my kitty.

Sad cat news
Posted 9 years agoMy kitty, Lulu's on the way out.
About a month ago she started bumping into things, so we took her to the vet yesturday to have her checked out.
.
Firstly, she's mostly blind due to detatched retinas (yes, that's a thing with cats, and not good) due to high blood pressure which has led to her kidneys starting to fail.
She's 16 years old and has been an indoor/outdoor cat her whole life, so she's already beaten the numbers in that regard, but I still lament the idea of losing her, as any cat-owner can understand.
In a way I'm already ready for this as my parent's had to put down their dog a year ago, and eyes were already going to Lulu to consider when she'd start going since she's outdoors a lot and small for a cat (7-8 lbs).
So, the question I have to answer for myself is when will it be time to let her go. I'm not going to hold on tight until she dies miserable and in pain, but I'm not going to rush out and put her to sleep just because she's blind and starting to fall apart.
Anyone got any thoughts on what a good 'It's time.' indicator is for cats, since this is the first cat I've seen live past the age of 10.

Zootopia
Posted 9 years agoSo, I just got back from seeing this film and I gotta say, I'm impressed.
To put things in perspective, all of the fart, urine, and poop jokes were in the previews.
This was a really great story told with animals actually being animal-like. It even goes out of its way to explain how it is animals came to live together and their origins. There were a few stereotype characters that were of oddly chosen species (Such as the donut-loving fat-cop cheetah), but over-all it was very well done. Some of the things like 'How does a jungle animal live in the same city as a desert animal' are explained with camera angles that show 'behind the scenes' things, such as huge sprinklers hidden in the tree branches of the rainforest area.
The story itself isn't anything we haven't seen before and there's a few moments where it was easy to predict what was about to happen next, but there were enough curve balls and surprises to spice it up.
The humor was mature and I had quite a few hearty laughs with a mix of Whoville silliness and animal-behavior exploitation ( How better to distract the wolf guards than by getting them to start howling non-stop )
There were a few parts that made me twitch a little bit, such as the nudist colony, which almost seemed like a deliberate attempt to out who the perverted furrys in the audience were. I fully expect someone to re-create that scene with all the bits visible eventually.
The mob-boss was funny at first, but get drawn out a little too much with a bit too much 'Godfather reference' syndrome.
For such a long movie there were also a few times where the plot suddenly rushed ahead, and a few times where it dragged a little longer than needed, but nothing too glaring or upsetting.
Great movie. 9/10 for sure.

Alas, it means moving halfway across the state, but it is well worth it. I can finally start focusing on my writing and maybe, just maybe, finally get my book published next year.

Computer for art?
Posted 11 years agoI'm pondering a new computer now that I have a well paying, stable job, but my current rig isn't all that old, only 2.5 years, and I recently upgraded the RAM, to boot.
So, I'm thinking maybe trading it for some art, if I can find an artist that has a need for a custom built gaming computer.
Here are the specs:
CPU Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Hard Drive Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
SSD Samsung 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card
Power Supply PC Power & Cooling 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
A little behind the times, but still handles stuff like a champ and would be a great digital media machine.
Anyone interested? Maybe just buy it straight up? Tickets to a furry con? I dunno!

1. What is your name?
The name of this cheetah is Kesh.
2. Do you know why you were named that?
Hrrrn...
One called me Kesh once, long ago, and it stuck.
3. Single or taken?
There are those that would argue either side, though one does not 'take' a cheetah.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
The ability to run fast and somehow hide my spots in broad daylight.
Try it.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
*headtilts* I told you I am Kesh. Who is this Mary?
6. What's your eye color?
Golden as the sun
7. How about hair color?
My fur is golden like the sands, if that's what you mean, though my mane is a warm flame.
8. Have you any family members?
My mother may still be alive, I do not know. All other family members are suspect as I have been told all cheetahs are as genetically diverse as siblings. Supposedly. I believe it.
9. Oh? How about pets?
Mmmmmn...
I have attempted having a pet. I desire freedom in other animals too much.
10. That's cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don't like.
*tilts head the other way*
You never asked me what I liked to begin with.
I dislike questions that lack context.
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
Oh... I have a thing for exotic plantlife and stalking other cats.
12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
*clucks tongue to mouth roof*
Causing harm is unavoidable, I find. A better question is I have caused harm deliberately.
Yes. Twice.. maybe three. I regret each time and hope to never repeat it.
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
As a predator... well... I do not kill sentient creatures, not that I need to anymore.
As for killing out of spite. No.
14. What kind of animal are you?
Cheetah.
15. Name your worst habits.
Mrrrnm..
I am too easily swayed by bad first impressions and tend to persue those I am inclined towards to a fault.
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
Those that are taller than me require I look upwards. As for idol worship, no. There are those with skills that I admire and whom I find attractive, but I walk my own journey.
17. Are you gay, straight, or bisexual?
*clucks tongue once more*
I am non-discriminatory, but find female company the most often appealing. That said, I can loathe all genders equally if they deserve it.
18. Do you go to school?
Eeeehn. I have what knowledge I need to survive and thrive. I do seek things that draw my curiosity, hence schooling tends to drown me in boring things.
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
*grunts firmly to that* I have explored permanent relationships and find they are rife with... trouble. Perhaps.. it could happen. As for offspring, I doubt I am even capable of it.
20. Do you have fangirls/fanboys?
Mrrrm. There are those that have proclaimed adoration, but I feel that it is a fleeting thing in most cases. I would rather just be seen as an equal being and not be adored.
21. What are you most afraid of?
Fear? Fear is a sensation that is useful, but not sought. I fear that which can bring me pain and loss, but that can be neutered and overcome.
22. What do you usually wear?
Nothing, if I can help it. I do engage in costumes, occasionally, and don a few pelts to satisfy the prudish when needed.
23. What's one food that tempts you?
The scent of raw fish appeals to me.
24. Am I annoying you?
I... wonder where this is going... but please continue/
25. Well, it's still not over!
I was certain of that.
26. What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?
Likely 'low', if you judge by wealth. I do not use classifications such as that, though.
27. How many friends do you have?
Not enough to feel I can't have more, but too many to truly feel alone.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
It is a suitable way to measure a circle/
30. Favorite drink?
I had a chocolate milk once that shocked my senses quite nicely, but cold water is always a welcome touch on my tongue.
31. What's your favorite place?
The garden I tend, or the cave nearby where it can be dark and silent.
32. Are you interested in anyone~?
A certain lynx that sent you here appeals to me, as does a certain snow leopard, one cheetah I very rarely see anymore, and an ellusive fox. I do not feel I stand to do more than simply admire them and savor the interactions I do have, and that is satisfactory to me.
33. That was a stupid question.
It is more stupid to denounce a question than to not ask the question to begin with.
34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
I am a cheetah.
35. What's your type?
My type...
*cranes neck side to side, twisting ears about in thought*
I lack a point of reference to properly answer that.
36. Any fetishes?
Of course.
37. Seme or uke?
Rrrrnm.
The third option.
38. Camping or indoors?
Not-indoors would be my preferred location, and if that means I am 'camping' at all times, then so be it.
Hey.
Hey!

Farewell Grandmother
Posted 11 years agoMy last remaining grandparent passed away this morning at the age of 92. She had been degrading in health rapidly over the last year, so it was expected, and all her living children were there to see her go this morning, so it is as peaceful a death as it could have been.
Still, it reminds me just how mortal I am, and she was the shining jewel of generosity and love in my life. I hope to find another like her some day, but there will never be another like her, for sure.
Those of you that still have grand parents, go and give em a hug for me the next time you can.
