Posted 5 days agoWell, after several months, I can confirm that there is an 88% chance of completing the YCH on monday. Just in time, too, since next monday I'm planning to jump to Linux.

Princess Rescue... and Linux.
Posted a week agoI feel the need to break the silence here... to talk a little bit about my plans with Princess Rescue.
First off, I brought up linux in the title. Why did I do that? Well, I'll tell you: After some thirty-ish years of being a windows user, Microsoft's recent INFALLABLE INTELLIGENT DECISION to end security support for windows 10 (unless you pay them) and repeatedly annoying me with pop ups just to tell me I can't update to 11 while telling me I need to update, I've been making my slow transition to Linux. So far, my USB mode tests have been successful, but I'm not sure how it's going to work out when I finally install it on my main machine. How this affects Princess Rescue? Well, I'm just letting you know that if something goes sideways, Princess Rescue might go dormant once more. I don't think that'll happen, I got a great linux guy on call, but I've been having such nightmarish bad luck this year that I don't want to rule anything out.
There will be two night streams at the end of next week. Friday and saturday. You see, I came to the conclusion that since I was up late anyways on fridays and saturdays, there were certain things I had to wake up for early in the morning. So I'd stay up until 7 in the morning. Do that. Go to bed. Now that I don't need to do that anymore until next year, I won't be doing that. But I did promise one more night stream to make up for a lost one. This stream has been largely dedicated to Princess Rescue work (because hey, what am I going to do for several hours anyway?)
Anyway, boring nerd shit out of the way. Let's talk about Princess Rescue.
First, I've almost drawn all of the CGs for the Drone Level Endings. I went a little nuts and made the last two frames of the game over look all Frank Frazetta-y. I will attempt to finish these CG frames on the last Night Stream of the year. I've drawn everyone's OCs bound and collectable in the game, and I did my best to shimmy them into the CG scenes, but there will still be more drawing work to be done. Which is a good way to seguay into my next point...
Floor traps and a Hypno/Corruption System: I've been experimenting with two things in RPGmaker MV: Floor Traps, and a Hypno/Corruption system. The latter seems pretty straightforward as far as mechanical implementation goes: a variable tracks how fucked up your character is, and applies a state. And that state causes stuff to happen in combat. The former, the floor traps, are meant to tie into that in that they're meant to bind your character, or increase their hypno/corruption. So far I've set up the trap so it will check what version of your character you're using (I have one for regular, maid, male, clown, and nightmare) so I might want to draw all forms bound. I also think I should make a button mashing system to escape said traps.
After this, I want to take what I learned and implement it in Sala's Escape. Which shouldn't take very long. Relatively anyway.

Sala's Escape: Bugfixes.... I think?
Posted 2 weeks agoI got all turned around and tried fixing some bugs. But I'm not sure I got all of them. I got all turned around with linux and spooky month and all kinds of stuff so I might've gotten confused. Please report any bugs in this journal, thank you.
I did add a tiny "quality of life" improvement I guess? When you use 'rescue ally' you apply a buff to them that will make them immune to being tied up. The "recently rescued" will make them immune to bondage for two turns.

I thought I made it clear in my last journal that I did NOT want comments related to princess rescue/sala's escape on images that are in no way related to them. But someone didn't get the memo.
Let me explain something: Constantly inundating me with comments does not make me want to work on princess rescue. Especially when it's on an image that's, oh, I don't know, A FLYER FOR A COMMISSION SALE, and I see a comment bringing up "hey put this in princess rescue." This is unacceptable. It is giving me flashbacks to things in my past that I thought I grew out of, and that I assumed everyone else did. It is not cool.
Let me explain something. Commenting something completely unrelated is not 'feedback' or 'suggestions for features.' It's what we called 'spam.' It is not helpful. It will not help princess rescue get out faster. Constantly bringing it up, like this is the only thing I have going, will not get them done any faster. I am one man. I do the """"coding"""" the graphics all of it. I am not some superhuman who can just crank out updates every week. I am just like you, a human being with needs, obligations, and more pertinent to this discussion: a mental state.
If I continue to see this behavior, I will without second thought put princess rescue on hold of no sooner than one month.

But while I'm on the subject, does anyone have any bugs that I can fix? (the ghostly ones reappearing on AOE and the japanese text I can't do anything about.) I've noticed the map item is consumable which it should not be. I went in there and dealt with that.

Game update, and very VERY important declaration
Posted a month agoFIRST THING'S FIRST: I appreciate all the feedback I get for the games Sala's Escape and Princess Rescue, it does serve as a reminder that what I do is not in vain and that I can indeed create a world of my own like I wanted to do since I was little. It is an experience I don't think many people get to have, and I thank god for this, and for you, and I hope you all have great things in your lives too. That being said, some of you let your passion for my projects override your decorum, so I have to treat papercut before it becomes necrotic: If you feel the need to ask me about updates PLEASE DO NOT DO SO IN THE COMMENTS ON UNRELATED IMAGES. It's giving me flashbacks of things from my past and I do not appreciate having such reminders. Journals like this are fine. SE/PR related images are also fine.
Now that's out of the way, let's update on some games:
Sala's Escape:
After so much time, I've finally, FINALLY finished the Sala Update. Very few people read my journals, so if I don't make a promotional image, they'll miss it. That's in progress right now. this update will add:
-Sala battlers! Our bat girl now has her own battlers! 52 full color images of batty goodness!
-Bondage and Clothing System: This is the BIG one. This is why I was gone for so long, because I needed to code and draw this. There will likely be things missing, things incompatable, but from my testing, everything seems to work fine. At half health, the enemy may try to take your clothing, and then take your underwear. Generally the further you are undressed, the worse and harder to escape the bondage will be. The bondage moves may be rare, but I anticipated this. Which brings me to my next point:
-Gallery Battles: As I mentioned, the bondage moves might be rare (they were for me sometimes when testing) so to that end, each gallery entry has a relevant battle where the enemy has been nerfed as much as possible. It is impossible to get a game over when fighting these battles (they will heal you immediately after no matter what) they give no exp and no gold. To unlock them, all you have to do is lose the battle.
Extra items: to help try to escape a lot of the bondage moves, I've added the Sun Orb (to save yourself from the shadow) and the Lesser Scroll of Warding. These are not %100 percent, and generally the stronger the bondage state, the less likely they will work. You can find them scattered around, or you can buy them from Marcus.
-Funeral Ashes for the wicked charm can now be found more easily. I've noticed that nobody seems to be able to find them. So, I've put them somewhere a bit more prominent. Extra ashes can still be found in the columbariums... colomuriums... those little dome structures you see throughout the tombs. I'll have to do something with those later.
-A crude map system: While I don't know how to make a readable map system, and ancient crypts don't exactly have directory kiosks, I had another idea: leftover maps by doomed adventurers. Scattered throughout the crypts are maps written by brave and foolhearty adventurers before you who met their final hours in this place, but left behind their closest recollection of the location.
-Background Groundwork I've set up some switches and variables for things in the future (e.g the leader system, which is going to be super important going forward.)
-A Drunk Ghost: No, not the cocktail of the same name, I mean an actual drunken spirit. Right now he doesn't do much except babble.
Where are we going from here:
-Little Vampire Update: I have some ideas to make the vampires encountered more sexy/menacing to the player. The vampire mage's traps, and the scout's Alukhan hypno-whispers.
-Dorice update: With this update we'll kick off the leader system proper. The leader system will determine WHO you see in the captive CGs. With this update, I plan to draw CGs for Dorice and add multiple quests.
-Obediah Update: Same, but with Obi. With this one, I'm thinking of adding some crude romance system. Complete with CGs for each possible pairing (while we only have three characters, which should make that easier) maybe some other shit too?
-Hellfire Update: Chunky update that will add the merciless level, complete with its own enemies, CGs, traps, and- no, I'm not going to say anymore :)
-Forest Update and forward: This is the future. Out of those stuffy old scary tombs and into the forest, which isn't much safer with bandits everywhere, vampires still hunting you in the forest, and their mortal servants.
Princess Rescue:
Yes, I am back. I have completed a single CG frame for the new update during my night streams (of which there won't be many left I'm sure) and have begun drawing OCs captured for said drone level. There won't be any combat in this level.
Speaking of combat, I think I may have figured out why everyone is focusing on Celestia while I was struggling with Sala's Escape: because the attacks are not set to attack a random person. each code should end in 'random' if it's not targetting someone with a state. I find it ironic that I find something to fix for the testing ground IN the thing that I'm testing FOR.
Now, for the Maid level, since it mutated and now there's going to be a ponyplay thing in there, this makes things a little confusing: You see, the initial plan was you would have two options: a) serve as a maid under the absurdly cruel head maid until you have a chance to snatch the key from her, or b) sneak into the basement and get the key. But now that I have another player, the Horsemistress Hard Whip, I don't really know what to do there. She doesn't have the key to rarity's cage, and I'm not sure how to intertwine the two paths. I'm open to suggestions because my dumb ass is at a loss.
I still need to draw the new maid costumes and sprites and CGs, so yeah, lots of shit to do here. Because of how beefy this shit is, I might tone it down and turn the color quality down from full color to basic color, saving full color for only really pivotal game over sequences or whatever.

Posted 3 months agoYes, I've heard the news that they're re-indexing nsfw games that are free. No, I'm not going back to itch.io for Sala's Escape and Princess Rescue. I said earlier that I was too harsh on itch.io, before I heard that they were withholding money from other nsfw games. Between the sticky fingers (reports of itch.io keeping the money from games that they banned,) banning Max the Elf (which is even tamer than Princess Rescue, mind you.) and this half-assed capitulation, and the fact that there is no legal sword of Damocles over their head (yet) to keep them from pulling all this shit again, frankly I have lost ALL trust in this platform.
I will continue to self host and post updates to the game here, hosted on my own servers (that I fucking pay for, mind you, so I'm the one making the rules) because unlike itch.io, I can trust myself not to cuck out and think I can come crawling back.

Point 3: DO NOT INFIGHT This fiasco has united the ENTIRE FUCKING INTERNET. Yes, you are going to be shoulder to shoulder with strange people. People you might've considered absolute mortal enemies before all this. Your enemy, the payment processors, are well aware of this, and are no doubt hard at work trying to pit you against one another. They have done this before with Occupy Wall Street by derailing that with all this identity shit back in 2011. It's a tried and true trick. DO NOT LOSE FOCUS OF THE GOAL: MASTERCARD, VISA, and PAYPAL MUST BE DEFEATED AT ANY COST. If that means you have to team up with MAGAGuy62, AnimeTankie, DickTwiddler69, or RickytheHedgehog for the time being, SO BE IT. Do NOT fall for bait. Do NOT take your eyes off the real enemy, and the real enemy is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.
Point 4: DON'T STOP UNTIL THEY DO. It may take weeks, it may take months, and it may take years. But remember Saul Alinksy's Rules for Radicals: A tactic that drags on... drags. We are NOT giving up five years of work because of some bitter childless feminist Karens (who defend Cuties no less!) Work on the Sala Update is continuing now not just out of love of the game, but HATRED of these people! Tonight I will be streaming a good chunk of work on said update at picarto.tv/quakehoof (though I'm very distracted, lots of stuff going on my end, you know?)

Posted 3 months agoThose of you who know me know me to be a very angry man. I tend to consider righteous indignation a sacrament. But let it never be said that I'm too proud to admit when I've been wrong. Being angry with itch.io was a knee jerk reaction, but in the few hours since this news broke, I've learned the situation. Itch.io is very small and cannot stand up to the combined legal might of payment processors or the shrill nagging of childless feminist karens.
I still am not returning to them until I see the real enemies in this whole thing broken, but I'm not mad at itch.io anymore. The other parties however (and discord, just because, y'know 'delenda est') I hope they drown in the combined shit of the internet. Today I think I'm seeing even SWORN ENEMIES uniting against this bitter coven of manhating harpies and the greasy payment processors behind them, and I think we're all going to love how it ends!

I am getting in touch with my webmaster, and we will work this out. If I can throw Discord in the trash, if I can throw guilded in the trash, I can do the same thing to you (and will do it without a second thought.) I hope you enjoy licking the boots of your new masters, and I hope the shoe polish poisons you.
