Posted 15 years agoSo I had a friend from Kent State up for the weekend. We went to the American Museum of Natural History today, which was pretty cool.
Then we decided to go home, and discovered that the car was trapped on a one block stretch of road between a felled tree and a low power-line. I asked the police man how long it would take to fix the road, and he said that there were trees on houses and a flipped bus, so probably a long time.
So...We were trapped there for a while. Then we forged an alliance with some guy who was also trapped on that street and managed to drive the car on the sidewalk while physically shoving the branches out of the way in a storm.
I decided that man went home and twittered "Today Indiana Jones and some other guy helped me get around a downed tree."
The End.

Posted 15 years agoIt's 3 AM and I can't sleep. I guess I'll do this Shower Meme that I stole from 
Junowolf. I added my own questions at the end so that mine is superior to everyone else's.
1 - Do you shower in the morning or evening?
Night. Sometimes the Middle of the Day.
2 - Do you use liquid or bar soap?
Liquid. Old Spice or Irish Spring.
3 - Do you use shampoo and conditioner or just shampoo?
My hair is too short for such things. I use soap.
4 - Do you brush your teeth in the shower?
No. What if I got soap in my mouth? And a shower's an unsanitary place for a toothbrush.

Oh yes. "Where the Wild Things Are" is TERRIFYING! JESUS CHRIST!!! Oh man...It wanted to die. It makes me sad that Clair from Six Feet Under was a voice in that movie. I watched it and could not keep from yelling out in anguish.
Also something else...
I don' t remember now.
Oh! If anyone lives near me...Like in 20 miles of Yonkers, NY...HELP ME FIND A PART TIME JOB!
And I saw Avatar again today. I really like that movie, but I wish Segourny Weaver didn't die in it.

Posted 16 years agoSo I finally saw Avatar today. I was kind of tentative to the idea of a movie so heavily based in CGI, and I really had no idea what it was about, but after hearing that so many people liked it I decided to pirate...I mean...Watch the movie in a totally legal manner.
I was actually quite surprised by the film. Even with the poor quality of the version I watched I was still impressed by the convincing design of the characters. When I started watching it I was worried about the long length, but toward the end I was actually pleased with the duration of the film.
I am slightly concerned with the ending of the movie, however...I'm not sure if my version cut out early or if the end really happened the way it did...I will say no more in case anyone out there hasn't seen it yet and will just wait for westiebetch to sign on so that I can discuss this with her.
In conclusion I will say that if anyone is on the fence about seeing this movie I do highly recommend it. I plan on seeing it in a theater sometime soon so that I can see the movie in proper format...And because the subtitles on my version were in Russian or something. Anyway, see it and tell me what you think.

Posted 16 years agoSo for everyone that I have yet to send Holiday cards to...Um...Happy Holidays! **Hides the stack of cards he has yet to mail out** Some of you will be getting cards mailed to you eventually...Once I take them to the mailbox and/or figure out your addresses, but since you will most probably not receive them until mid-January I thought I'd cover it here.

On an unrelated note...I have always wondered one thing since I was a little fetus. Why are there no cookies with cashews in them? Being a huge cashew fan and also a fan of cookies, this fact has always baffled me.
I always assumed that no one cooked with cashews because they are mildly more expensive than other nuts...but I have recently discovered there is a possible alternate reason for there absence from confectionary tidbits.
Today while collecting cookie-baking materials I discovered that cans of cashews were buy one get one free, which filled me with wonderous joy. I decided to invent a new cookie recipe by taking chocolate fudge cookie dough and mixing in coconut and cashews.
They...didn't cook. I may have added too much coconut, but it took about twice as long as usual for them to bake properly. When they were done the cashews were a little dark, slightly burned but not too badly. I thought "Oh joy! Toasted Cashews!" thinking they would be delicious like other toasted nuts. I was adequately disappointed.
It turns out that when a cashew cooks its flavour becomes that of burned corn. While in the context of the cookie as a whole they do not taste bad, picking them out is not recommended. I think next time I will use non-cashews...Or maybe If they are ground finer they won't burn as much.
Experimentation is needed. I will keep you updated on my research...Which will commence next winter.

Posted 16 years agoAfter spending most of my day off watching pirated anime and eating saltines I decided I would break my cycle of uneventful Sundays by leaving the apartment. I had seen posts by a few of my friends that the Fantastic Mr. Fox movie was pretty good and decided I would go and see it myself.
I was a little worried that it would be too childish and/or uneventful, and the previews before the film started were so horrifying I almost left the theater (something about the Rock as a toothfairy and Jackie Chan babysitting)...but the movie actually was very good. It had somehow eluded me that Wes Anderson directed this movie until after the movie had started.
This movie had the same dry humor as Anderson's other films, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes his work...Or who is a furry...or anyone. If you have not yet seen this movie do so now...Go...I'll wait here so we can discuss it afterward.

My Productive Weekend
Posted 16 years agoI have officially spent the entire weekend indoors save for taking the dog out and running my roommate to the Bronx train station.
Here is what I have learned: If you spend two days doing nothing but watching the 90s cartoon "Gargoyles" you will have strange dreams involving cartoon monsters.
PS...For anyone who has not seen this show in a while/ever you may wish to do so. It is far furrier than I remember it being.

AC was super fun this year and I had a great time suiting for the first time. I'll have photos posted at some point of the suit. I am lame and took like zero pictures, so I need to wait for other folks to post for me.
I roomed with keapano,

yawnilutrova. Thanks to Yawni I finally met some folk from Second Life that I hang out with on the rare occasion that I actually sign on.
I met a bajillion people this AC, but spent most of my time with keapano, 
kojac, finnishfox, 
omnibahumut, 
whitefeet, Kiric, and Turtyl. I met Pinky, who is awesome and from Denmark (I believe) and I shall forgive her for giving a Dolph DVD to Giza.
I also was able to hang out with my artist chums red-dog,

leafy. Sorry

meglyman, and 
ebonyleopard that I wasn't able to chat so much, I was running pretty much constantly.
