2020
Posted 6 years agoI had a blast at NYFB. Rung in the new year with some terrific people. Had a few drinks. Relaxed and just had a good time. Being surrounded by the people you care about is the best way to start the year.
Toxic people
Posted 7 years agoI love how someone can note you out of the blue and make accusations. Then before you can comment or defend against it, they block you. That is such a chickenshit move. So Rubi, I will say it here. Stop being toxic and maybe your friends will stop dropping away. But take responsibility for your actions rather than blaming others. Your name has not come up in a couple of years. Lets keep it that way...
Just an update.
Posted 8 years agoI have been really sick since last October. My Crohn's has flared up more often, and the migraines have become unbearable. The migraines have also brought company. I have started suffering from sever rounds of vertigo. While it is far less frequent than some of the other problems, when it hits it is severe. I know how a slot machine feels when those bars go spinning lol. Anthrocon was an interesting venture having to be on meds all the way through it. I think I spent a lot of time on cloud 9 that week lol. But my wonderful hubby and 2 of my sweet pets were there to help me (escalators and elevators were not fun)
The good news is that I have started a new treatment. They are giving me monthly infusions that are supposed to help reduce the frequency and severity of the migraines. It is hoped that with reducing them, the vertigo will dissipate as well. While the infusions are not a cure, they hopefully will help.
So, now I have a lot of art I am going to try to get posted up. Most of it is months old, maybe even more than a year... but I do have a couple new ones I am excited to get posted. I am really far behind so it may take a couple days to get them all done. I have to figure out which pieces I need to post and try to get all the info together. I am also hoping to get a chance to go through some of our pictures from AC and get those posted as well.
So please forgive how late the postings are, but hey, better late than never.

New Secondlife Wings
Posted 10 years agoWe are looking at a brand new wing system.
As we get closer to their completion, we wanted to get some input from the SL furry community on the colors. We need to get an idea of which colors the community would most like to see us include.
Please take a minute to check out this and let us know what your color choices would be.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1E2.....AM2Cg/viewform
I cant yet say who the creator is as they are not ready to reveal the project to the public. But keep your eyes open for the announcement in the near future!
Until then, please pass this survey on to all your furry friends and help me get the word out!
Thanks for your help!!!

Free work?!
Posted 10 years agoGoing to AC
Posted 11 years agoI know it is still months away, but I am excited!
This will be my first con and I am not entirely sure what to expect, but I cant wait.
and I will have our own room at the Westin so I will have a quiet place to retreat to if my anxiety/panic gets out of control. I had to call them to check on their animal policies since I will have my service dog with me, and I must say I am impressed with the accommodations they make for them.
We will also be meeting up with my Master
and my pet
as well as one of our best friends
I would love to know who else that I know is going. Drop me a comment and tell me if you are!

Emergency Help Needed!
Posted 11 years agoMy sweet pet Ferrin and his family are in a bad situation. Because of health issues, his father recently lost his well paying job. His mother is disabled but because of dad's income previously she had not qualified for SS disability. Ferrin also is disabled because of serious back pain and other related issues. While dad has been looking for work, the unemployment checks have run out. Disability has been applied for, but that often takes quite some time. No job has yet been offered, and they are now in danger of loosing their home.
Please check out the link for the full story, and if you can, please help. If you cant help financially, please do try to help spread the word.

A Grain of Sand
Posted 11 years agoMy father lost his battle with colon cancer on July 4th. He was only diagnosed in March, it took him quickly. My only solace is that he at least did not suffer. He was a strong and proud man. He spent the last 30+ years on the ocean as the captain of the the commercial fishing vessels Marine Star and then the Victoria City. Because he spent so much of his time on the open water of the Pacific Ocean, often between the ports of Alaska and Oahu, I thought of him when I read this poem.
A Grain of Sand by Robert William Service
If starry space no limit knows
And sun succeeds to sun,
There is no reason to suppose
Our earth the only one.
'Mid countless constellations cast
A million worlds may be,
With each a God to bless or blast
And steer to destiny.
Just think! A million gods or so
To guide each vital stream,
With over all to boss the show
A Deity supreme.
Such magnitudes oppress my mind;
From cosmic space it swings;
So ultimately glad to find
Relief in little things.
For look! Within my hollow hand,
While round the earth careens,
I hold a single grain of sand
And wonder what it means.
Ah! If I had the eyes to see,
And brain to understand,
I think Life's mystery might be
Solved in this grain of sand.

Service Dog Training
Posted 11 years agoMost of you know how much my service dog Blaze has done for me. After Blaze was trained and became able to accompany me places, my life completely changed.
Well today I found a journal from one of the artists I watch that pointed to their friend needing help to raise funds to get a service dog.
I want to share that journal as well. Any of you that have the art talent that might be able to help, or any of you that might have the funding to help, or even those who like me can only just help spread the word... Please go visit her page and help support her in reaching her goal and getting her service dog.

Some good news... and some bad...
Posted 11 years agoThe good news... Blaze went to the vet!
You are all awesome! Thank you to all that donated towards his vet visit!
The outcome:
He has arthritis in his knee now. Sometimes when he walks or moves just wrong his knee is catching. When it does that it is causing him to twist his leg which has no ball at the top of the femur. So when it does that it is basically coming out of the socket. That is why he isnt able to walk sometimes and limps so bad after. He said this is all related to the Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease and his age.
The vet told me to massage it out then let him do his best to walk a bit and exercise it out when it does happen. He also prescribed pain meds for him.
The vet also told me that all in all, Blaze is the healthiest 10 year old pug that he has ever seen. The only other thing we need to worry about is that he needs his teeth cleaned and looked at. At his age, that is pretty standard.
The bad news...
My dad has stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to his liver. They are still doing tests and such to see how far it has spread. He ended up in the hospital Mother's Day weekend and we almost lost him on Mother's Day. He just came home from the hospital yesterday. And yesterday is when I found out his prognosis.
As it is, he is on chemo but if it doesn't nab the cancer fast they told him he has maybe 6 months. They said if the chemo eradicates all of the cancer cells he at best case has 2 years. He has so much colon and liver damage that it is best case and surgery is not an option. He only found out about the cancer 5 weeks ago. I just found out 2 weeks ago.

Blaze needs help to see the Vet. [Updated]
Posted 11 years agoI posted a picture of Blaze curled up beside our cat Poof. In the picture you can see the large scar on his hip from his surgery when he was a pup. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13291960/
Blaze was diagnosed with Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease when he was 7 months old. He had been pushed off of the front steps by one of the other pugs and although he landed in soft dirt, the fall broke his leg. Being a small dog, they cannot do hip replacement. They instead have to remove the ball from the hip and shave down the head of the femur. They then pull muscle issue over the head of the bone and stitch it in place. This eventually scars over and vreats a "soft joint."
Blaze never let it slow him down. He has been a happy and healthy pug his whole life. May 28th of this year (2014) he will be 10 years old. For approximately the last 4 years of that, he has been my service dog.
Blaze has been classified as a Medical Alert dog as well as a Psychiatric Support dog. He helps me be able to leave my house. Prior to him being my service dog, it was nearly impossible to get me to go anywhere. With him at my side I have been able to get out and go places again.
A few days ago Blaze tried to get out of his bed. Instead he fell out of it. For the remainder of that night and part of the next day Blaze was unable to put any weight on his right back leg. Kenta and I both spent time massaging his leg and hip and by the day after he seemed back to himself.
Last night Kenta laid across the foot of the bed. Blaze likes to lay on our pillows at the head of the bed. When Kenta laid down Blaze got excited and went to get of the pillows and he again was not able to put any weight on his back leg. He kept flopping over and sitting funny or just laid on his side and didnt want to move.
I again massaged his hip and his leg for him, this time I tried to move his leg a little and just the light pressure of that caused him to loose his bladder. This has never happened before.
I called the SPCA vet this morning and after almost an hour on the phone with them I am sure I need to get him examined. I know he will also need xrays and because he is due for his shots they will have to do those as well. We are looking at between $200 and $300 to start. If he has broken his good hip then he will need a surgery similar to the one he had at 7 months old, and that was around $1200 9 years ago.
Kenta has a good job, but we just make our bills. We have not had anything extra and we have no way right now of coming up with enough to go to the vet. So I am doing something I do not like to have to do... I am asking for help.
I dont want to just ask for donations, I will accept them if that is what you want to do, but I want to do something in return if I can. I dont have much skill with art, but I might be able to do some simple pieces. Also, I do build on secondlife and I do custom textures for clothing as well as avatar skins and mods.
If you would like to help please note me here on FA or contact me on secondlife, Raikeira Belfire.
If you do want to help, please make sure you put Blaze somewere in it so I know. Our paypal is grilloanthony[at]yahoo.com
I am also the General Manager at Furnication. We are a furry club in secondlife. Nemo, the club owner, has given me permission to put out a donation jar to help raise funds for Blaze. Posted 12 years agoJust got back from the shore. In-laws took the whole family to Wildwood for the weekend. Had a blast swimming in the ocean, walking the boardwalk and even rode the log ride with Kenta a couple times (cant do most of the rides anymore because of my health.)
Turns out Oprah was there when we were. She was even on the roller-coaster Kenta and his brother-in-law were on. Down side to that was the staff in the booth that takes the mid ride snapshots was so busy oogling Oprah's pic that they weren't bringing up the others for anyone. They didn't feel like waiting around for it. Oh well... at least they enjoyed the coaster!
Seems the sunscreen was not as good as I would have hoped. Was supposed to be waterproof. I know that means you have to re-apply it every so often, but seems I am so light that even that wasn't enough. So now I am fried, crispy. Time to put that aloe on my skin...

K7QCM’s key has now gone silent.
Posted 12 years agoToday we lost one of the best men I have ever had the honor to know, he will be missed. Just last month we lost Uncle Paul who was Grandpa's baby brother, that made Grandpa the last of his generation having outlived all of his brothers. Grandpa is now back in the arms of his sweet Mary-Lou, his wife of more than 60 years who passed in 2007.
Grandpa passed away 7:00 (PST) Wednesday, Feb 27,2013.
K7QCM’s key has now gone silent.
Rest peacefully my loving Grandpa.

Engagement ring?
Posted 14 years agoSo... Kenta and I have been talking about rings, I showed him one a while back that was just wow. I told him I dont want him spending a bunch of money on one, but at the same time he insists he wants me to have a nice one.
Well, last night I was in my room on my small laptop while Kenta was on his pc in the livingroom. We cant talk back and forth like normal people because at that time of the morning we will wake the neighbor from hell. So we skype our conversation. I was trying to tell him he didnt need to spend $500 on a ring and decided to look up other similar rings that are $200 to $300 less. (I Still think that is too much)
So here is how the conversation went...
[4:42:01 AM] Raikeira: http://www.jewelsforme.com/tanzanit.....age1-sort1.asp
[4:42:53 AM] Raikeira: http://www.jewelsforme.com/tanzanit.....gold-i2130r-14

[4:43:40 AM] Raikeira: http://www.zales.com/product/index......uctId=12018363
So at this point without even thinking I told him from the other room that he was a smartass. His reply...
[4:43:53 AM] Kenta: but you love me
[4:43:55 AM] Kenta: :3
I guess I woke the neighbor after all..... It was Kentas fault tho!
[5:02:24 AM] Kenta: he's walking around upstairs so be careful with noise
[5:02:56 AM] Raikeira Firebourn: ok
And here is is a year later and he updates his ring idea with this:
[7:02:58 PM] Kenta: http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbvi.....9-toy-ring.jpg AND it's PURPLE! :D

Daughters Surgery
Posted 14 years agoI know only a few of you knew about this since it happened so fast, but my daughter was taken to the ER 2 nights ago. She has been having pain in the side of her chest, behind her ribs. They have done multiple tests but nothing was found. She has been in so much pain that she has been to the ER a couple of times for this.
Well, night before last she was in the ER again. This time they found that her gallbladder had stopped working and they were bringing in a specialist. After reviewing everything, the specialist said she had to be admitted and needed immediate surgery. He told my daughter that her gallbladder was in bad shape and that he was worried that it would disintegrate during the surgery.
The surgery took place late yesterday afternoon. Everything went well. The surgeon went to see her after the surgery and told her that her gallbladder had stones in it and was severely infected. He said they were lucky they caught it in time.
She is still at the hospital recovering but should be able to go home soon.
I wish I could have been there with her, it is hard being so far away now. But at least I know she is ok now.

Need advice... (Also a rant)
Posted 14 years agoI am going to try to share how things started up to what is happening today. I don't know what else to do about this situation. This is a long read, but I had to get it all said.
Please only leave constructive comments and suggestions. This is a serious issue for me.
I became friends with the upstairs neighbor Brent. He moved in to the 2nd floor apt the day after Kenta and I moved into the 1st floor. We have all gotten along quite well for the first couple of months here. In fact, when I fell a few weeks ago, he was the one who came down to help me. When I couldnt walk because my big toe was badly broken from the fall, he came down daily for a few days to walk Blaze for me since it hurt to much for me to walk. Not many neighbors would volunteer to walk your dog and clean up after them, he was so helpful.
Then he did a 180 and I don't know wtf is going through his head but here is what happened.
A couple weeks ago kenta got home from work at about 9:20. He got out of his work clothes right away and put them into the wash. The time limit for the machine is 9am to 10 pm. After Kenta had started the load, I stepped into the hall to see why the machine seemed louder than normal. The machine is right outside my front door in the main hallway. Brent came out and stood at the top of the stairs in his underwear and was pissed off an started yelling at me that we were running a load so late and had woke him. it wasnt quite 10 yet. The load finished running at 10:09, we were watching the clock by then because of Brent yelling at me.
Kenta had to be back at work by 7am and we have no dryer so they had to be washed then or he would not have had clean work clothes to wear. Well when the landlord came by to pick up the rent, I talked to him about it. He said he would talk to him since Brent and the landlord are friends.
Brent then was pissed off because I had said anything to the landlord. Since then he stops LOUD coming up and down the stairs and he slams the main front door so hard the wall shakes. Whenever the door slams it makes me jump and I already suffer massive panic/anxiety attacks and he knows this. (Note: the stomping and door slamming was clearly intentional. He had never made noise like that in the months prior.)
After a couple days of this, I went up and talked with him for a few minutes. He was nice for the whole conversation. I asked him to please be easier with the door and he said sorry and that he would.
The following day I only managed to get only got about 3 hours sleep because he gets up so early and all morning he was running up and down the stairs and slamming that door. It kept waking Kenta and I up.
Later that day he did it again so I stepped into the hallway. He was sitting there on the foot of the stairs and before I could even open my mouth he went off on me, yelling and telling me off. We called the landlord and told him the issue, he said he will take care of it.
A short while later Brent stood in the hallway just outside our door going off cussing saying "fuck you you fucking liar." I am sure he is referring to me explaining to him that the reason we had to do laundry so late is because they changed shirt colors from blue to red at Kenta's job. I told him Kenta has 3 blue but only 1 red so he had to wash it to wear the next am. Apparently he was at the store earlier today and saw ppl still in the blue so he thinks I lied to him.
Truth is, yes the CAN wear the blue until Jan to give them time to get new red ones, but wearing the red shows appreciation for your job and the company and management notices it. Those are the people who decide when and if you get a pay raise, so he isnt wearing his blue anymore, that is why he needed his red one cleaned.
Over the following few days the stomping and slamming doors have continued. Yesterday was the worst so far. He again woke Kenta and I with all of the noise he was making. He even went so far as to go so that he was directly above our bedroom and jump up and down, that was loud and shook the walls.
Kenta got a hold of the landlord again. When he finally came by yesterday evening he sat with us for a few minutes so we explain the issue. He then went up to talk to Brent. While he was upstairs I had gone into the bathroom which is located below where his kitchen is. I could hear him yelling about me. He was saying we ran the laundry at 11 pm, went on to say I lied to him and with some very colorful words, said some very cruel things about me that I am not going to repeat here.
When the landlord came back down he said that the issue was taken care of and that we should have no problem with him anymore. He then went on to lecture me about how not everyone gets along all the time and I just need to ignore him. Landlord made it out like I was exaggerating the noise level and told me that hearing people on the stairs and the door closing loud sometimes is normal. I tried to get him to understand that normal noise didn't bother me, it is the noise he is making that is intentionally being made to upset us that we were complaining about.
So now we are to today...
I am home by myself while Kenta is at work. I heard Brent come and go a few times but it was a normal noise level, so I was thinking that finally this is over.
Then I heard him just on the other side of my front door, and this is what he said"Shhhhh be very quiet, I don't want to disturb the fat, lazy, extremely disgusting..." and then his voice trailed off and I didn't catch the rest.
So now I am sitting here not knowing what to do or say. I am afraid to go out into the hall to do laundry because I can't deal with him. What am I supposed to do now?
