Is my work good enough for commissions?
Posted 14 years agoI have only posted a few pieces that are my art and I hope it is good enough to offer for commissions. I am interested in getting constructive opinions and suggestions on ways I can improve. Each piece I draw I am trying new things and hopefully improving.
I am trying to raise funds in an effort to fly my daughter and grandson from Albuquerque to Philadelphia for a 2 week visit between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My son is also planning to be here at the same time so it will be a bit of a reunion for us all since it has been nearly a year since we have all been together. I miss them all so much!

I think I may have found my art niche...
Posted 14 years agoWarning... Long and boring so I am starting you off with the TL:DR version.
Icons! Specifically little animated ones...
I know the work isn't very good yet, after all it hasn't been that long since I started drawing digital art, but I am having fun doing it. I cant draw, but I can get the basic shapes then spend time in SAI getting the lines where I want them. Then I do some coloring in SAI, export it to PS and finish coloring so I can animate it.
With the way I draw, I am going to be making and using templates quite a bit especially for the icons.
Constructive criticism and advice is welcome. Have an idea for an icon? Let me know, maybe I can help you...
♡◣◥◣◥▶『 Warning, Long version: 』◀◣◥◣◥♡
I used to enjoy doing a bit of drawing, but I was never really that good at it. It was long before I had a computer, so I don't even have any copies of it. I think tho only art I ever ended up with a digital copy of was a couple of neopets I drew and colored for contests on that website. My kids loved it and submitted their's along with mine. My ex made a point of telling me how horrible it was and what a waste of time. I might look through some of my old backup files and see if I can find them.
Anyways, a couple years after that I was thrown from a horse abd badly injured. Among the broken ribs and torn rotator cuff and several other smaller injuries, I also ended up damaging the nerves in my right hand. That was 4 years ago. I lost quite a bit of the dexterity and I still have issues with holding small things like pens and pencils. I haven't even bothered trying until about 6 or 7 months ago. Someone on FA was having a sketch contest where you had to sketch your character then they would sketch your character in their style. That attempt at a sketch made me realize just how hard it was to do for me now. My hand hurt so bad after I was done. I figured since I wasn't really any good to begin with then no loss that I couldn't try anymore.
Then a friend came along and gave me the swift kick in the ass that I needed. She told me that I wasn't going to get any better by giving up. She also said that maybe I cant draw traditional anymore, but maybe I could try something new. Well, I listened to Airyanna and have spent about 7 months now practicing line art and following various tutorials. I think I finally found something I enjoy doing and actually like the results of.

I mostly agree with what it says from this test, with the exception of a portion of the Friendly paragraph. Where it says "You're happy in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium." Ya... Soooooo NOT me. That would send me into a panic attack.
Go take the test and let me know your results... http://www.signalpatterns.com/psych_central/
Anyways, here are my results...
Friendly
You would rather hang out with others than spend time alone, and you'd far rather be doing something with your friends than just sitting around. You're happy in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium.
You're not a private person who is ill at ease in a group; you don't view excessive socializing as a waste of time.
Warm
You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.
Empathetic
You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Sympathetic
You have a knack for knowing what's going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.
You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.
Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Tender
You are gentle with others, both physically and emotionally. You are careful not to upset people and go out of your way to find the nicest way to say something. You naturally focus on the fact that the world is full of wonderful people, places, and things. More often than not, people with a high score on the "tender" trait enjoy spending time with children, love romantic movies, and are enthusiastic about making the world a better place.
You don't think of yourself as tough-minded or gruff, nor do you need to be seen as some kind of objective source of truth and rationality.
Accessible
You're comfortable expressing yourself in words and actions, with no self-censorship. You believe that if someone doesn't like what they see it's not your problem, but theirs. A high score on the "accessible" trait suggests that you have a lot of friends, socialize often, and enjoy rap/hip-hop music.
You don't see the need to keep your thoughts to yourself, or to have a zone of privacy that encompasses only yourself and a small circle of friends and relatives.
Poised
You tend to feel at home wherever you find yourself, even in unfamiliar settings, with new people. It takes a lot to rattle you, and when rattled you recover quickly and gracefully.
You are usually not self-conscious or nervous when you're in an unfamiliar environment or with people you don't know.

Back from the Jersey Shore!
Posted 14 years agoHad a great weekend with my sweetie kentausui and his family. We had a great time. Spent time walking along the boardwalk. Went on rides and looked through tons of shops. I saw several things I wanted, but I am currently saving every dime in hopes of flying my daughter and grandbaby out here to visit us. So I was a good kittybird and didn't spend.
kenta won me a big purple bear holding a heart that says "I love you" as well as an angry bird plush. He kept trying to win me Smurfette from one of the crane machines but it would drop at the last second every time. His dad walked up to the machine next to him and started doing the same thing and ended up winning one. He gave it to kenta to give me lol.
Inlaws bought everyone a little something from the trip. They got me a hoodie with the name of the place we were at and a hat to match. the hoodie has Smurfette on it hence the wanting to win me a Smurfette plush.
i think one of my favorite parts of the trip was playing in the ocean waves with my love. We had a lot of fun jumping around and trying not to get knocked down by waves that were hitting chest high in water that was about knee high between waves. I ended up with a bit of sunburn, and that was WITH wearing sunscreen. It was worth it though, we had a blast.
So now we are home and I am sooooooo tired. Going to sit back and play some more Katamari. But before I go... Check my submissions, I made a kittybird katamari picture. First digital picture I have ever made. Spent a LOT of time in SAI creating it. My friend turned it into a gif for me to use as an icon too!

Emotional Manipulaion
Posted 14 years ago◣◥◣◥▶『Drama Warning』◀◣◥◣◥
Unfortunately I am getting drama in response to parts of this journal. I have removed the comments since I am tired of seeing them. I am not going to take out the parts that are being complained about. I have named no names and am tired of explaining myself because certain people want to start drama.
My apologies if some of the comments no longer make sense with some drama omitted from the conversation.
◣◥◣◥▶『Rant Warning』◀◣◥◣◥
A concerned friend showed me a website. That site made me wake up to the situation I was in. Once my eyes were opened I couldn't just close them and pretend that everything would be ok. I realized that I was in a situation in which I was at the receiving end of daily emotional manipulation. Even now when I make a simple comment the manipulator will still get defensive and play the victim.
I am out of that situation now but little things keep being said that I know are not true, and for some stupid reason I still let it bother me. My life has moved on and I am with KentaUsui who is a wonderful man. But my heart breaks for those that are still left in that situation. It took me years to see what was happening (despite my kids having told me all along that it was). Now I can only hope and pray that the others still there will see the truth now.
◣◥◣◥▶『End Rant』◀◣◥◣◥
This is from the website that opened my eyes. You should read the page itself (linked at bottom of the journal), but for the abridged version read the following.
1) There is no use in trying to be honest with an emotional manipulator.
- You make a statement and it will be turned around.
2) An emotional manipulator is the picture of a willing helper.
- If you ask them to do something they will almost always agree - that is IF they didn’t volunteer to do it first. Then when you say, "ok thanks" - they make a bunch of heavy sighs, or other non verbal signs that let you know they don’t really want to do whatever said thing happens to be.
3) Crazy making - saying one thing and later assuring you they did not say it.
- An emotional manipulator is an expert in turning things around, rationalizing, justifying and explaining things away. They can lie so smoothly that you can sit looking at black and they’ll call it white - and argue so persuasively that you begin to doubt your very senses.
4) Guilt. Emotional manipulators are excellent guilt mongers.
- They can make you feel guilty for speaking up or not speaking up, for being emotional or not being emotional enough, for giving and caring, or for not giving and caring enough.
5) Emotional manipulators fight dirty.
- They don’t deal with things directly. They will talk around behind your back and eventually put others in the position of telling you what they would not say themselves.
6) If you have a headache an emotional manipulator will have a brain tumor!
- No matter what your situation is the emotional manipulator has probably been there or is there now - but only ten times worse.
7) Emotional manipulators somehow have the ability to impact the emotional climate of those around them.
- When an emotional manipulator is sad or angry the very room thrums with it
8) Emotional manipulators have no sense of accountability.
- They take no responsibility for themselves or their behavior - it is always about what everyone else has "done to them". One of the easiest ways to spot an emotional manipulator is that they often attempt to establish intimacy through the early sharing of deeply personal information that is generally of the "hook-you-in-and-make-you-sorry-for-me" variety.

Stunning 3D artist new to FA
Posted 14 years agoGo check this person out! I am very impressed at how fluid this animation moves. It loaded quick on my fiance's pc but took a little longer on mine. So if it isnt smooth right away let it load then watch. Just amazing!

Medical update... 6-29-11
Posted 14 years agoThe person I was seen by today was a Nurse Practitioner not the actual doctor. The Dr is out of town for another week.
So here is the run down...
1) My blood pressure was the best it has been in 4 or 5 years... it was 121/82 YAY!!! NORMAL!!!
2) My asthma is back... got put on an inhaler
3) I have to go in the next day or two to get a bunch of bloodwork done.
4) I am being sent to a specialist for my head, see if we can figure out why I am still having migrains. Also to see if there may have been damage from when I was thrown from the horse. Hopefully they will figure out wtf is wrond because I have had this current headache for 5 days running now. Two of those days it was a migraine then was getting better and today it is bordering on a migraine again!
5) I am being sent to a GI specialist (which is normal for me) to follow up on my Crohn's. They will be scheduling a colonoscopy, uggg I hate those! I havent seen the GI in to long of a time since I was without insurance for a while. When I did get insurance it is forever and a day to get to see a specialist in New Mexico. Seems a bit easier to be seen around here...
6) I am being sent to a hand specialist who will most likely need to do a minor surgery to remove a small mass that has started to become painfull on the side of my finger.
7) I go back next wed to see this same person and as long as my bloodwork comes back normal I can at least get my current meds filled before they run out since I have to wait for the actual Dr to come back from wherever she is.
So... all said... the appointment was at least productive and I am being sent in the right directions for the specialists I have been needing. The only really bad thing about today is that we had to walk home. For me it was more than twice as far as I usually manage. I think that may be in part why my head is hurting more now. I know it is why my legs, especially my knee is in so much pain atm.

♥To every guy that gives her flowers and a card when she is sick or down.
♥To every guy who has given her flowers just because thats how he rolls
♥To every guy that said he would die for her.
♥To every guy that really would.
♥To every guy that did what she wanted to die for
♥To every guy that cried in front of her...

♥To every guy that kisses her with meaning.
♥To every guy that hugs her when she's sad.
♥To every guy that hugs her for no reason at all.
♥To every guy who would give their jacket up for her.
♥To every guy that calls to make sure she got home safe.
♥To every guy that would sit and wait for her for hours just to
see her for ten minutes.
♥To every guy that would give his seat up..
♥To every guy that just wants to cuddle.
♥To every guy that reassured her that she was beautiful no matter what.

I don't really do many of these, but I really am curious to see what you few that watch me think.
Based on what you know about me, what do you see my Fursona or OC as?
Currently, my Fursona, or Main OC is: A purple Kittybird (tiger/phoenix cross)
I know on SL I have a ton of avatars I switch between, a few that I would even consider as alternative fursonas, but what so you see me as?
I'm giving you the power to choose for me, because I'm curious what people identify me with!
Please let me know the reasons why you chose the new Fursona for me. Is it because it matches my personality? How I look? How I act ?
Copy and paste this into your own journal with the headline "I'm a _____, but..." to see what people would say of you.

Don't get involved please...
Posted 14 years agoIt seems that a few people are trying to get involved with my personal situation without even having all the facts. I would really appreciate nobody else trying to get involved, but here are a few facts...
I am no longer with Jax and Vir. They are good people, but our relationship could not continue. The details of why do not need to be discussed.
I am now only with Kenta, and him and I are moving to Philly. Whether you think it is a good idea or not, please keep it to yourself as our minds are made up and will not be changed.
Most of my art pieces have been gifts from Jax, Vir and Kenta, and I still treasure each and every commission they have had done. I will be leaving all of them up, but I will be changing the info slightly.
I wish Jax and Vir well in whatever future endeavors they seek and hope that one day we can continue on as friends even though the relationship has ended.

Why so long? >> Rant Warning<<
Posted 15 years agoSo tell me... is it wrong for me to be upset that I have waited more than 6 months for a commission? I paid for it, was told it was being worked on... and now... I can't even get the artist to reply to my notes or contact me.
Now I understand that live happens... the real world comes first... but I paid >real< money to have this done... doesn't that make it real world too?
It has happened on more than one occasion now that an artist has put out a cry for help, and I am one that if all my bills are paid and I have it, I would rather help someone in need. I few times I have planned commissions, wanted specific artists and instead went with someone else just because I see they needed help,. 4 of the 5 times I have done so now, I have waited MONTHS for finished pieces.
Now I understand that taking on emergency commissions sometimes means adding to their overload and that it may take longer... but they offered to do the extra work for the quick cash. Why should what I paid real money for be any less important that what the other commissioners paid for?
So again I ask... am I wrong for being tired of seeing people cry for help then put the very ones who stepped up as less important?
I don't bug the artist, now and then if it has been a while I may note and ask for an update... Don't you think I at least deserve that?
