Back in Working Order~!
Posted 9 months agoHey, everyone!
Many of ya' probably noticed some fishy behavior going on with this account recently, specifically between December 9-10. Yeah, the account got compromised, but thanks to the very prompt response by the Admins here they managed to lock down the account to prevent any major damage, and minimized the harassment. I now have access to the account back and have added some extra security measures to prevent this from happening again :3 I've been doing my best cleaning up what I can find, but if anyone finds a comment or other sign of activity from this account from between the earlier dates, let me know so I can take care of it!
Thank you for sticking with me, and my apologies to anyone who was hit with any choice comments~

An update
Posted 10 years agoHey, everyone!
It's been a while now since I posted any art, or anything really, so I think now that things have started to settle it's time for an update journal, in the off chance anyone was wondering what's been stopping the flow of voracious red durrgon arts:B
First up, we received a letter from our Real Estate Agent/Landlord back in June. The letter told us that the Landlord wanted to sell her other house and wished to move into the one we were renting, I assume to retire since all the essentials (Shops, trains and buses) are only a few minutes walk away. We had until September to be out of the old place, and after two months of saving, searching and packing we finally got ourselves moved into a nice, smaller but cheaper place that also happens to be pretty close to the essentials! It's still the same crew as our last house, that being myself,
Bane,
Mackenya and Mack's brother Cody. Although the new place is smaller, so far we've fit pretty well and have settled in almost immediately! Bane has even picked up some occasional work so along with the cheaper place it means our finances will be a lot less stressful to deal with. Along with the moving, one of the supervisors at work was on holidays for most of the two months we were preparing our move, which meant I was covering for her and doing supervisor shifts almost 5 nights a week. This was a bit stressful dealing with the extra work and responsibilities. However, stress and trouble only makes you stronger in the end, and with this new house I feel like it's time for a clean slate to get into new habits and routines to better myself both at work and at home. Just today I sorted through all of my belongings and have ended up getting rid of quite a lot, trying to get out of the habits of a hoarder (Which is tough for a dragon don't judge me). Already I'm feeling accomplished, and it certainly feels like things are looking back up again.
Back to the place, having only moved in last Saturday we're still organizing for our Internet to be transferred. We're not sure on when it will be back up, could be another week or two, but for now I've had limited access to the internet using mobile wi-fi. Some good news though, once our net is set up we will have access to NBN (Which, for you Americanos, is Australian Fibre). At the very least, while the internet is down it gives me plenty of reason to get up and get things done IRL (Fixing my broken sleeping pattern, getting some new furniture for my room, etc.), as well as hopefully getting back into the swing of drawing again.
Anyways, I'll leave it at that for now. Have a god one, all a' ya'~ <3 Keep your head up and stay positive~
PS: As a little treat/teaser, here's a link to all of the sketches I've somewhat managed to get done in the last few months, however none of it is finished and I'm not entirely sure if they ever will. But, for those who'd like to see, here's a little gallery of 'em~

Opening for Commissions
Posted 10 years agoWhat's this? Commissions from RANGER?!
Yeah, I know I've said I hated commissions a lot in the past and I've even tried and failed a few times to get myself into actually making some moolah off of my art. But after a little conversation with my awesome bud
Bane about what used to trouble me most about them, I feel like, especially with the big 2015 right around the corner, that I've grown up enough to be able to start taking commissions again and dealing with them in a more professional manner. There's nothing wrong with being a friendly artist for people to commission, but I've always felt like I'm too much of a softy, and the reason i lose motivation is because I'm too afraid to say No and end up getting caught in things I don't want to do. It's been since October 2012 since I last took commissions, but I think, at least to begin with, I'll be sticking with the pricing system I had back then. I'll also be limiting my available slots to help prevent myself from getting burnt out, and also changing my policy a little to help make sure I'm also getting some enjoyment out of each commission to make it a lot more worth it than just the money.
So then, with the pleasantries out of the way, let's get to the actual commissioning info!
~~ POLICY ~~
By commissioning me, you agree to the following commissioning policy. As the artist I hold the right to refuse or cancel a commission at any point for any reason. If I need to cancel the commission after payment has already been made, then the payment will be 100% refunded. If the commissioner decides to cancel the commission after payment has already been made, then I hold the right to only refund whatever portion of the payment covers the unfinished stage(s) of the picture (Example: A commissioner wishes to buy a Flat Color picture. Payment is made once the Sketch preliminary is approved, but the commissioner decides to cancel the commission before they have received the Ink preliminary. The commissioner will receive a refund minus the amount needed to cover the finished Sketch stage of the picture). Payment will not be accepted until at least the preliminary sketch has been completed and approved by the commissioner. A low-rez (Up to 1280x1280 pixels) preliminary example image will be provided for each "stage of completion" (Sketch, Ink and Flat color), and the commission will not be progressed to the next stage of completion until the latest preliminary stage has been approved by the commissioner. Upon completion of the commission, the commissioner will then receive a high-rez version of the commission (Up to 5000x5000 pixels).

~~ F.A.Q ~~
How can I ask for a commission?
FA Notes are the easiest way to get a hold of me, since I check them fairly frequently, and I can more easily keep track of them.
When should I pay you?
Once your commission has been sketched and you are okay with how it looks so far, I will ask for payment before continuing. I will not accept payment until the sketch has at least been approved and I am good to continue.
If I buy a commission, can I take another slot as soon as they are available again?
Only once all of my slots are available again. To save me from getting burnt out I won't be taking more commissions until my current list is done.
Can I reserve a slot until I decide what I want?
No, I will not be reserving slots. However if things go well I may open up more slots at once in the future.
I want a commission, and I'm going to stalk your journals and go for a slot the second you're open!
Please don't. I will NOT be working on a "first in, first served" basis. I will be accepting the ideas that I feel will be enjoyable to do. You'll have a more likely chance of getting accepted if you take your time with your idea and come up with something interesting and fun! I'm not doing this just for the money!
Can I pay for multiple pictures in the one slot?
Unless it's part of a comic/sequence, then no. I'd like to give everyone a chance to get a commission.
What's a "complex" character?
A character with complicated markings, colors, or body parts (wings, spikes, fins, etc.) would count as complex. However since this is a very opinion based thing I will not force a commissioner to pay extra for a complex character without their approval.
Can I "red line" my commission?
Sure! It helps me a lot and makes it easier to know what you've got in mind and exactly what you want! In fact, I encourage this!
*NOTE: "Red Lining" means drawing red (or highlighted) lines on the picture to show what changes you would like in a more visual way.
Any other questions? Either post here, or note me!

Planning to get back into Streaming...
Posted 11 years agoSo yeah, it's been quite a long time since I last did an Art Stream, huh? Well, I think it's about time I got back into it, especially now that the drawing flow is coming back! I've also moved over and set up at Furstream as well, which is a lot less intensive on my computer and also allows for easier bandwidth configurations and other nifty settings! You can also follow me, and be notified whenever I start streaming! How handy! Anyways, here's the link:
https://furstre.am/profile/Ranger
I'm not sure when I'll begin streaming, I used to do it on my first day off work each week but now my schedule is a bit wonky and
Bane can't stop playing DOTA all the time, so I'll need to find a chance or way to stream without bothering him too much :B
Happy watching, when the time comes!

Want in on a Picture?
Posted 11 years agoSo lately I've been wanting to draw more than just my own characters, both to give a little more to my friends and watchers, and also get a little more practice in things I've not done much or at all before. However, taking requests usually ends up getting me absolutely swarmed, commissions tend to kill my motivation, and simply drawing for a random friend doesn't happen very often cause I can never decide who to choose. So, I have an idea...
If you'd like to give me permission to use one or more of your characters in a picture, then feel free to post a comment on this journal. Please remember to include a reference or a description of your character(s), along with any limitations or preferences with them, such as things you do/don't want me to do with them. Don't worry about being too specific, I'll be sure to ask you if an idea is okay before I go ahead and draw it. If you have any specific little ideas too, I'd like to hear those as well since they may spark something anyway, though this is mostly for finding viable candidates for the ideas that spark enough motivation to get a piece done, so no promises, sorry.
Please remember, this is NOT first-come-first-serve, and this is NOT a request journal. I know I definitely won't be able to include everyone who comments in a picture, so please don't take it personally.
Let's have some fun~

Sorry for the lack of submissions =3=
Posted 12 years agoSo I bet someone has noticed how quiet I've been here.
I do apologize for the lack of art over the last couple months. Every so often I look in my gallery and see "Posted 1 month ago" and think "Jeez have I really been so slack?". In the end, it's all just come down to motivation. Between work, planning travel and accommodation for Confurgence in January, gaming between quiet moments and studying Japanese (Which I've recently gotten back into proper), there's been very little motivation to just put the pencil to paper and draw.
Regardless, I've got a few sketches that I plan to upload so you guys have something to enjoy, whilst things quiet down a bit more on this end of the world. I've been considering the possible idea of getting into one of those "A Drawing A Day" challenges to try and keep the mojo going, but I can't normally commit to something that requires such devotion a lot of the time. Although, my recent studying in Japanese is the most devoted I've felt towards something for a while, so perhaps it's the chance kick the body in gear and stop being such a lazy bastard~
Anyways, hope you guys like the sketches that are on the way, and here's hoping that I can get back into a more regular flow of art~

Something a Little Personal
Posted 12 years agoSo I think I may be Asexual.
It's something that got brought up a couple weeks ago, and it's been on my mind since then. It would honestly explain a lot. From the sexual experiences I have had I've never really "enjoyed" it in the way that most people seem to. I can't recall any instance where I've looked at a person and even considered "Hey, they look pretty attractive", even when they're trying to be portrayed that way. All I seem to find I enjoy at all is just the closeness and romance that usually comes with it, and even then it's really just enjoyment rather than actual sexual pleasure, and anything further just seems to be more of a turn-off than anything else.
I've been browsing around online to try and find what "Asexual" truly means, and although there seem to be a few different explanations they all seem to match pretty well to what I'm experiencing.
Thoughts? Anyone else experience this sort of thing as well? I feel like I should really have someone to discuss this with.

FA Meme - 'Cause Why Not?
Posted 12 years agoEveryone else is doing it and it looks fun and informative, so let's have a go shall we? :3
1. Why did you join FurAffinity?
I originally created an account back when I was on DeviantArt. At first I didn't bother to post anything here, but then when I started posting on Eka's Portal as well I thought "Hey, why don't I use this FA account too?". Eventually, FA was the only site I stuck with.
2. What does your username have to do with you?
The name "Ranger" is actually what my mother used to use for her usernames because it was a mixture of my name (Randall) and my brother's name (Gerard). When I first started getting into being active online, I didn't want to use my real name, so the name "Ranger" immediately came to mind.
3. What is your current avatar of?
Ranger, of course! Usually it's a cropped part from a recent submission I'm most proud of.
4. How many watchers do you have, and how many do you watch?
I watch everyone who watches me, so in the end I have over 3,500 people watching me, and I'm watching over 4,000.
5. Do you have more than one account?
No, I prefer to stick to the one account. I honestly don't see too much of a purpose in having multiple accounts.
6. Name 3 of your favorite artists on FA.
RUdragon - He's got an amazing style, and everything he draws is adorable but also looks absolutely beautiful.
Falvie - She's got a lovely realistic sense of shading and texture, yet all of her characters still have that fictional feel.
Xiamtheferret - This guy's got the most entertaining style I've seen. Incredibly toony and silly, while still being absolutely adorable.
7. What artists do you admire because of their personalities?
To be honest I'm not really sure. I don't really categorize my friends into "Artists" and "Non-Artists", or at least I'm not used to it, so no-one in particular immediately comes to mind.
8. Do you comment, fave, or both?
Both. I get a little iffed when someone just clicks "Favourite" without actually letting me know what it was they liked about the picture, since it helps drive me to draw more along those lines, so I tend not to do the same to others.
9. What do you typically post on FA?
Vore, vore and more vore :B In the end though I just consider myself a cartoonist, and like to draw anything cute and silly~
10.What's your favorite submission in your gallery?
Definitely this, since it's easily one of the most detailed pictures I've ever done: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7587204/
11. What are the things you wish you could draw better?
Backgrounds are definitely my weakness. Most of the time I don't even do them, but a good background can sometimes be what makes the image have so much more realism to it. Also it could never hurt to get better at shading and details.
12. How many hours a day do you spend on FA?
I check for new comments/faves/watches each morning, but tend to usually not do much else unless I've got nothing else to do.
13. Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?
Fast. I used to play Online games with a friend who typed like a maniac, so I got used to trying to keep up with him.
14. What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
The first thing that comes to mind is "Can I commission you?". I don't do commissions anymore, and usually when I do they don't last long since money doesn't really motivate me to draw.
15. What is the most annoying/offending comment you've received?
I guess just people who try to berate you for what you enjoy. There's plenty of people who have started arguments on more than one submission because it's vore or something. It just irritates me when someone tries to get on their high-horse against ya' when they like stuff just as bad, if not worse. We're all weirdos here, so there's no reason we need to berate each other~
16. What/who inspires you?
Friends and music. I always listen to music when I draw, and many friends I talk to often come up with nifty little ideas that sometimes end up being some of my most proud pieces of art! It's always good to have people behind you and have something you can go to that just gets the mojo flowing~
17. Everyone has considered leaving FA once or twice. Have you? Why?
Never. FA has pretty much become my home on the internet now, and I doubt I'd ever have a reason to leave.

Doodlinges and Delays~
Posted 12 years agoWhoo boy!
So it's been like a month (again) since I last uploaded anything. Needless to say art has been really slow the last few weeks, and I find myself only drawing an average of once or twice a week. I've pinpointed a few things that might be causing the slump, and I'm working on getting back into a more regular drawing mood. This also includes getting back into streaming every week or two since that tends to help kick me into gear and keep at a drawing for longer than a few minutes.
Anyways, I'll be submitting a couple little unfinished doodles along with one or two finished pieces in just a moment, and hopefully it won't be another month before I have more to go!
Here's hoping!

YCH Stuff, Anyone?
Posted 12 years agoLike the title says, would anyone be interested if I started doing some of those "Your Character Here" things? The idea has been swimming in my head for a while now. However, I don't plan to do Auctions, since those become grossly overpriced.
The idea I have is that each "slot" will have a set price, and I will simply keep the sketch up for a day or so and choose a winner from all the people willing to buy. Prices will likely be around the $10-$20 range, most likely. I could then stream the result the following Monday, since that's my usual stream time.
I'd also like to know what kinda things you guys would want to have the opportunity to get in on. I'd like to go for ideas that involve two or more characters interacting in the same frame (For example, two characters hugging compared to two characters sitting on opposites sides of a couch). I'd like to do this to make sure that the person being added as the YCH actually feels pike part of the scene rather than just an "addition". I'd also like to make sure that the character(s) involved have the majority of their body, especially their head, visibleso it's obvious who it is, instead of just seeming like hat person's color pattern on a random sketch.
So what do you all think? I have a couple ideas in mind to do already, but I'd also like to see what you guys suggest~

Trading Card Badges?
Posted 12 years agoSo I had the idea recently of doing Con-Badges designed like trading cards. At first the idea was just for something cosmetic to be worn on a lanyard or somesuch, and would be designed to either look like a card from a popular TCG (Poke'mon, Yugioh, Magic, etc.), or it could be a unique design with some stats for show. There's also the possibility of sizing them to act much like a business card of sorts, where the card could have contact info or website addresses, and be printed in bulk for literal trading during cons. Would be a cool way of remembering who you've met at a con, eh?
What do you guys think?

The Dragon Returneth
Posted 12 years agoSo you guys may remember my last journal mentioning going to go visit
Jaydom up in Queensland~
Well we got to spend plenty of time together, went out a few times for some shopping and got some new toys for her Rats, went for a movie with one of her friends (Fe♂III), and made a delicious Cheesecake together :> All in all, was a lovely visit~ <3
Right after getting home however, I had my brother and a few old friends from school come visit me all the way from Melbourne! Plenty of shenanigans were had, including a few Sydney-ward trips, and many uses of the phrase "THIS AIN'T NO GAME". Looking forward to having the brother back again :> Everyone got along really well so it was super pleasing to see~
But now the busy period is all over, and it's back to the regular schedule of doing absolutely nothing :B Just thought I'd let you all know what's happening, and that you can feel free to pester me again~
It's good to be back~ <3

Video Games + Vacation
Posted 12 years agoSo I recently played the game 漏れなつ (Morenatsu, or "Summer Break").
For those of you unaware, it's one of those Japanese "Dating Simulator" style games, only Furry. It's a bit adult in a couple sections, but I found the story for it much more interesting and emotional, and I recommend it to any of you furs out there who like having your heartstrings pulled and warmed~
PS: I immediately fell in love with Shun Kodori~ <3
MOVING ON...
I'll be traveling to Queensland as of tonight, and will be spending the next two weeks with the lovely
Jaydom and her family. I'm aware that FurDU will be happening during that time, though I unfortunately won't be attending. Although, if any of you guys will be attending FurDU and happen to be going up towards northern Brisbane, I'd be happy to organizing a little meet-up :D I don't get the chance to head up the coast all that often, so it'd be great to see you!
Have fun, everyone!
PS (again): There's art on the way for those wondering about the lack of activity. It's mostly pencil sketches, since I've been getting back into a more traditional drawing method, I just haven't submitted them yet :B But here's a little teaser: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....eonDelving.png

Tablet = Dead
Posted 12 years agohttps://dl.dropbox.com/u/14597086/B.....ken_Tablet.png
The red squiggles are where my tablet properly detects the pen, but the big blank areas on the sides and center are where it no longer seems to detect my pen no matter how hard I press. Been fighting with it for close to an hour now and it seems that it's likely the hardware itself that's died, and not just the drivers.
Figures the first time in almost a month that I feel the mood to draw something, my tablet decides to shit itself.
Go figure.

"Your Character Here" and Adoptables
Posted 12 years agoSo it seems these things, have become the new fad of FA.
Now although I honestly don't really like either of these things (Or at least the majority of them, but I won't rant), a friend recently brought to mind an idea of how I could do these YCH style pictures without involving money, which I feel is a more generous way of doing them.
The rules are simple:
- Character slots FREE. (I still however hold the right to reject characters I do not wish to draw)
- Character slots are first-come first-serve. (See above exception)
- A Slot can only be claimed by current watchers. (If you watch me after the YCH Slots have been made available then your claim will not count)
- Only one character slot AND picture per person. (A user will be allowed to claim another slot later once a sufficient amount of other users have had a chance)
I feel like this is a more Win-Win scenario for myself and you guys. This will allow me to continue drawing the pictures and ideas I enjoy, whilst giving you guys the opportunity to get yourselves involved in them without needing to ask for a request of buy a commission.
Thoughts?

OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS
Posted 13 years agoSo moneys' become a bit tight with MiDFur coming and the dreaded issues of *cough*rising Australian Power bills*cough*, so I'd like to officially announce I am now open for commissions. However, in order to keep from becoming burnt out immediately, I'll be very limited in the number of slots I'll be open for. I also don't plan to accept a new commissioner until all slots are empty again, that way no-one ends up waiting for ages whilst new people keep getting on the list. I'd also like to add that, to keep it fair, I'll only allow one person per slot, to keep someone from just buying out all the slots for themselves.
So, in brief:
- I'm open for commissions yay!
- There will only be 3 slots open at a time.
- I will not be accepting new commissions to fill a slot until all 3 slots are available again.
- Only one commissioner per slot, to keep it fair.

F.A.Q
How can I ask for a commission?
However you like! Just make sure to save a copy of your idea somewhere, in case something unforeseen causes it to be lost.
When should I pay you?
When your commission is done. I don't accept payment before or during the progress of the commission since it makes me feel more obligated to finish as quickly as possible. I like to take my time and make sure everything is just right before I accept any payment. Also dealing with any refunds or extra costs after payment has already been made can be a hassle.
If I buy a commission, can I take another slot as soon as they are available again?
Only if all 3 are available at the same time. I won't be taking new commissions while there is someone waiting in the list.
Can I reserve a slot until I decide what I want?
No. If you want a commission, have something in mind first to ask for before jumping for a slot.
I want a commission, and I'm going to stalk your journals and go for a slot the second you're open!
Please don't. I will not be working on a "first in, first served" basis. I will accept the ideas that I feel will be enjoyable to do, which in turn will help keep me going with commissions since I will also be enjoying doing them. You'll have a more likely chance of getting accepted if you take your time with your idea and come up with something interesting and fun! I'm not doing this just for the money.
Can I pay for multiple pictures in the one slot?
Unless it's part of a comic/sequence, then no. Be patient and let others have a chance.
What's a "complex" character?
Complex character usually have odd, complicated markings, features, body shapes, or other traits that make them more difficult to draw then the average. I won't necessarily charge extra for all characters out of the norm, but if it gets a bit too ridiculous then there will likely be the extra charge.

Revised Commission Prices
Posted 13 years agoSo after ages of being a lazy bastard, I've finally come up with a revised pricing system for my commissions. Now it may seem a little complicated, but I feel it accurately represents a good medium between the amount of time and effort a piece takes to make, as well as an affordable and reasonable price. So without further a-do let's get a-too...It...yeah.
All commissions are initially uncolored and inked.
How many characters are in the picture?
Each Character: $10 (Full-Body) or $5 (Bust)
Character complexity may alter initial price.
How completed will the drawing be?
Flat Color: $10
Shaded Color: $20
Background: Up to $20 (Depending on complexity)
Comic frames?
Each Frame: $10 (Full-Body) or $5 (Bust) per character
I want fetish arts!
Internals: Up to $10 (Depending on what's being shown)
EXAMPLES:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/7530287/ - Price: $20
Price Rundown:
Bust = $5
Complex Character Design = $5
Flat Color = $10
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/7313653/ - Price: $40
Price Rundown:
Full-Body = $10
Flat Color = $10
Shading = $10
Background = $10
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/8028396/ - Price: $40
Price Rundown:
Full Body x 2 = $20 (2 x $10)
Flat Color = $10
Bust Internal x 2 = $10 (2 x $5)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/7567033/ - Price $60
Price Rundown:
Bust Frame x 4 = $20 (4 x $5)
Full-Body = $10
Complex Character Design x 4 = $20 (4 x $5)
Flat Color = $10
Anything you guys think I've missed? Satisfied with these prices at all? Do let me know, I plan to open up for commissions once I've been rid of this Art Block that's been pestering me the last few weeks :E
