Selling a Rhino fursuit [SOLD]
Posted 5 years ago[EDIT 2020-09-06 @ 10AM US/Central] Well, someone hit the "buy it now" on the auction. So that's done.
Let's say you have a fursuit that you haven't worn in oh... 4 - 5 years. It's a rhino suit. The suit fits someone about 5'9" (177cm), with a 36" waist (91cm), 31" inseam (78cm), 46" chest (116cm), 35" sleeves (90cm), and someone with a smaller head than me.

Bathing suits? *smdh*
Posted 8 years agoSo, I had a profile pic that I took while on a cruise around the Caribbean. I was just heading out to the pool, and snapped a quick selfie in a mirror then went out. See the picture here: https://twitter.com/reddywhp/status.....40138569854977
I had this quoted to me by "System Account"
“Acceptable Upload Policy: Section 3.3 - Photography depicting nudity (exposed buttocks, breasts, bulges, outlines of genitalia, etc.) or indecently-clothed models (undergarments, diapers, lingerie, etc.) is prohibited. Exceptions may be made for swimsuits worn in public locations, such as a pool or beach.”
So, the same picture, if I had taken it poolside, would have been okay. But because I didn't want to carry my phone with me to get dunked, it's verboten.
Oh, they apparently deleted this pic while they were at it... 4 years later... https://twitter.com/reddywhp/status.....43505811681280

Still waiting on FA tech support?
Posted 10 years agoSo I asked a question several years ago, asked again in January, followed-up in May, and just asked for an update.
Last time I asked, I got told "Please don't reopen tickets that have been addressed as it violates Fur Affinity's Code of Conduct."
Let's see if there's a response coming that isn't a "strike" or a "warning".
What's my question? "can you fix the spelling of 'rhinoceros' in the species pull-down?" Really controversial, I know.
Spelling mistakes and ticketing system failures
Posted 10 years agoSo just a bit of whining, pay no mind.
So 3 years ago, June 2012, I opened a ticket to let FA know "Hey, you've got a spelling mistake. It's spelled rhinoceros, not rhinocerus. Can you fix the species pull-down?" It was closed with a comment of "forwarding this to the development team" but was not fixed.
In January of this year, I re-opened the same ticket. Was told "Typos such as this should be fixed with the Phoenix UI update." "When is the scheduled Phoenix UI update?" "There is no date set". And then the ticket was closed again.
So I waited 3 months instead of three years to try again this time.
Can this just be fixed with an SQL update query? "UPDATE sometable SET somecolumn='rhinoceros' WHERE somecolumn='rhinocerus';"? with sometable and somecolumn being the appropriate table & column names?
Apparently, that bit in January was "addressed" with a "ruling" and "escalation" per FA Code of Conduct 1.14
1.14 - Do not abuse the Trouble Ticket system. This includes opening multiple tickets for the same issue and re-opening tickets after a ruling was made by an Administrator after escalation
Why? Because I was told
It will be fixed with the phoenix update as mentioned before. Please don't reopen tickets that have been addressed as it violates Fur Affinity's Code of Conduct.
Of course, this post at all probably counts as violation, per Code of Conduct 1.5:
1.5 - Do not abuse site staff. ... Please be respectful to staff ... If you have an issue with a member of site staff or a decision someone made, please escalate the issue
Further, I think that previous message may count as a "warning notice", so this one might trigger a "strike notice". It would certainly be amusing if it were.

Gay Pride - History is important
Posted 15 years ago
Gay pride month came our of events like the Stonewall riots in June 1969. Back around the time I was born, people were regularly beat up for being gay or lesbian. Laws were in place that made it illegal to be gay in parts of the United States. Police in New York regularly targeted gay and lesbian bars for harassment and raids.
The Stonewall riots eventually spawned annual protests and marches. See, back then, it WAS an act to be proud of to be out and gay. To be out and gay was to invite violence. No, I don't mean having sex on the street. I mean two men holding hands.
In many parts of the United States today, it is still dangerous for someone to be out and gay.
10 years ago, Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old college student at the university of Wyoming, was beaten to death just for being gay.
People lose their jobs for being gay. You should know, because "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is still in effect. Prior to DADT, it was even easier to oust someone for being gay.
People lose their families for being gay. Kids still get kicked out by bigoted parents. People are murdered just for being gay.
In this day, everyone's on the internet and it's easy. I'm 35. The net didn't exist when I was growing up. Being gay and young was harder. There were no friends you could tell. No chat systems full of people who could relate to you. It was a fight for my life when I was almost kicked out because "I thought I was bi".
I'm proud of who I am, proud of where I've been, and I'm proud of the fight it took for me to get here.
So with all due respect, shut your hole if you don't know what you're talking about.
Photos at Furfright
Posted 16 years agoI'm thinking of offering my services as a photographer for people during FF. Yeah, I know most fursuiters are camera whores... So finding subjects won't be hard. But if anyone wants to ask in advance, suit or no, let me know. I'm working with a Canon Rebel XSi Digital SLR.

Character decsription: Cicero Harden
Posted 16 years agoI was thinking about character description for Cicero. What's his history? What's the world like he's in? So I started a little mental exercise of thinking of his universe.
Species: African White Rhinoceros, with some human lineage
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 285lbs
Build: muscular, bulky with a bit of padding.
Hair: none, except fine black to dark gray tufts along the tops of his ears.
Eye color: Royal blue, human iris
Skin: A combination of steel and slate grays, mostly rough and sturdy.
Hands: 3 large fingers with an opposable thumb.
Feet: Looking somewhere in between a rhino's hoof and a human foot, completely functional.
Horn: Cicero's single horn is slightly darker than ivory, but assiduously cleaned and polished.
World history:
23 years before Cicero was born, a series of strange magical or incredibly advanced scientific devices fell around the earth, an event referred to as "The Impacts". Wherever they landed, within a 50 mile radius, any humans were altered to take on the majority of the physical characteristics of the nearest animal life form larger than 3 inches across, but scaled to human size.
Meanwhile, any non-human animal in the same area that was roughly the size of a small human or larger was similarly altered and given human characteristics, as well as having its brain advanced to human level intelligence and development. The now-advanced beasts awoke after the blast knowing their own individual histories, but also with the ability to speak the languages of the nearest former humans.
These hybrids were eventually to be known as Anthros. For 10 years after The Impacts, the Anthros were kept in isolated quarantine zones near their respective Impact sites. Eventually, they were released into the world.
For 50 years, no one has understood how or why this happened.
Family history:
Julius was born an African white rhino and was 7 years old at The Impacts. Bradley Harden was a well-establish Roman history professor at Georgetown University in Washington, DC on sabbatical in South Africa on a photo safari and happened to be photo-sniping the the pre-sentient Julius. At the time of The Impacts, Julius and Bradley were closer to each other than to anyone or anything else in the Impact zone. Bradley and Julius being close in proximity during The Impactsand Bradley being of a paternal nature, Bradley took to looking after the youngster when they regained consciousness after the change. In fact, Bradley was responsible for giving Julius his human name.
Within the quarantine zone, Bradley became a teacher, helping educate the newly sentient Anthros, as well as the formerly human Anthros who were young. When the quarantine was lifted, Bradley had not only been allowed to return, but had actually been invited back to his teaching position at Georgetown. His work within the quarantine had garnered international attention and set the bar for education programs within other zone. Julius, then age 17, accompanied his adoptive father back to Washington DC to enter the Georgetown University as a student.
Rebecca McGinty was the 19 year old oversexed daughter of a wealthy industrialist. She was finishing her sophomore year at Georgetown when the quarantine on the Anthros was lifted. When she first saw Julius walking around campus, the first Anthro to attend the university, she was immediately in lust. She had eyes only for the hulking 7'3" wall of muscle and musk that was to be her husband.
Rebecca spent 2 years trying to woo the Anthro white rhino; she learned her persistence from her father. Julius had been slow to warm to her; at first due to the culture shock, then caution for the size differences. When they eventually paired, the time spent getting to know each other paid off. She was no longer in lust, and they were both madly in love.
Rebecca and Julius were together for 7 years when she learned she was pregnant. Theirs was among the first offspring between Anthros and humans. It had been unclear if there was sufficient genetic compatibility. Due to the nature of the birth, the doctors paid close attention to the pregnancy. When the pregnancy went overlong, they opted to deliver by C-section at 11 months, somewhere between the gestation of a human and a white rhino.
As Rebecca was being sedated, she said to Julius, "I'm gonna have a rhinosserr...rhinoser siser siseros".
Julius thought about Rebecca's drugged rambling, his adoptive fathers education and when she woke, he suggested a name to her. She loved it.
"Cicero, my little statesman."
Cicero:
Cicero had a much more human mix of features than his father. By which, he was lacking even a minor secondary horn on his snout and his fingers, though still counting three digits plus a thumb, were slightly thinner and more dexterous than his father. Cicero was also almost a foot shorter than his father, though he was almost a foot taller than his mother. In addition, Cicero clearly had his mothers blue eyes.
Growing up, Cicero was on his way to be the linguist and lawyer of his ancient Roman namesake. After finishing his undergraduate degree, he decided that law enforcement was the direction for him, and he wanted hands-on. His combination of brains and brawn easily got him into the Washington DC MPD.
Cicero regularly confounds his friends and coworkers: coming out as gay, being one of a few Anthros on the MPD, his family history of money and fame. People often pidgeon-hole him as one minority or another, or as a privileged child riding his family's coattails. Cicero as a result works that much harder to earn his keep.
