An Apology
Posted 9 years agoHey folks,
I'm sorry I've gotten so slow (again) but I do have a valid reason for it-
I just finished a novel. My first ever; 250k+ words, and 565 pages. This will shrink when I begin the editing process in a week or two, then I'm off to find a publisher. It's a high fantasy affair in a world modelled after the Age of Enlightenment, about a dashing Prince vying for a throne, only to find out the glittering empire he hopes to rule is plagued with issues of prejudice and inequality, and a vast, sinister conspiracy hopes to keep him from his rightful place at all costs. Of course, anyone who knows me will know this story intimately because I can't shut up about it.
As happy as I am to have accomplished it, I did burn myself out- and I know that isn't anyone's fault but my own, but there you go. There have been a lot of other things- there was a small wave of work that's kept me busy, and Holiday Mania hit my folks, so any day I have off has been wrapped up in rather forced Christmas cheer that I desperately need a break from if I'm actually going to enjoy the holiday. Throw in some health issues with dad, and things have come to a crawl.
I'll try to get something done soon, sorry again for the wait, but I hope the holiday season finds everyone well.
Take care and God bless,
-Renard

Commissions Update
Posted 9 years agoHey! Just a quick addendum to my commissions-
I'm going through my list fast as I can, I promise, but, there's a small hitch- of the six commissions I accepted when I re-opened, half of them have been really big, usually epic stories. And, this is not a complaint! I love writing that stuff. But it also takes a lot of time, so, to make sure I can get to other, smaller commissions in a timely manner, I'm going to break up big commissions into more manageable chunks of 5,000 word chapters. What do I mean? If you have a big story idea, lay it on me, I'd love to tackle it! But supposing your story takes up to 10,000 words, I'll write half of it, post that half, and then take care of smaller commissions before finishing up the second part.
I'm just trying to be fair (and faster) with all my commissions, so I hope you guys understand. I'm grateful for your continued business, and flattered you like my writing enough to pay for it!
Take care and God bless,

New Compootr
Posted 9 years agoSo, my apologies for some delays on getting some commissions going- I've been held up because my desktop crapped itself, and I was in need of a new one. A big, expensive new one. A big, expensive new one that's a bit hard to set up and has actually taken a few days to migrate all my files to. So, that's what I've been doing. But, seeing as it's NaNoWriMo and I have a reputation and quota to fill now, I'll get back to writing ASAP!

Moving Forward (Commissions Open)
Posted 9 years agoSo, sadly, the growth drive that
rockytheprocy and I were going for is coming to an early close. We weren't able to drum up enough interest to make it viable, so we'll be cutting our losses. I wanted to thank everyone again that supported us, but, with the growth drive over, I'll be opening up commissions again. The free stories won from my 1000 watches raffle will take first priority, and then my next priority will be any previous commission I had to cancel when I shut down. So, if you had a previous commission I didn't start, and you're still interested, you'll receive precedence. I'm going to limit myself to six spots for now, though.
Take care everyone, and God bless,

Hurricane Matthew
Posted 9 years agoHey folks,
Just a quick update on your friendly neighborhood lolf. If you've been paying attention to the news, you would know that a category four Hurricane is bearing down on us here in Florida. I live inland in the Orlando area, so we'll be spared from the very worst of the storm. I've had some people express concern, and first, I'm touched, but also, I want to put some minds at ease- we have not been complacent. Well. -I- have not been complacent. I have a plan in place in case all hell breaks loose, but most likely, it will not. We're in for a rough day tomorrow, but by the time it passes, we should be no worse for wear.
Thank you, and to anyone in the storm's path, God bless,

Project Updates (Growth Drive, Victor's Story, 1000 Watches)
Posted 9 years agoHey, all!
Just letting you know that I'm taking part in a new, spoopy growth drive with
rockytheprocy! It's starring his bull stud El Toro and my huge tigrat Victor, and we'll be carrying it through all the way to Halloween!
Speaking of Victor, my personal project covering his life story is still ongoing- should have the third chapter out soon!
And finally, I am, as of writing a mere three watches away from that coveted 1000. Remember, when I hit 1000, I'll be raffling away 3 stories! Thanks again to everyone that saw me get this far!
Take care everyone, and God bless,

(Almost) 1000 Watchers! Free Story Raffle!
Posted 9 years agoHey, everyone!
So, I'm recovering well from my surgery, and then I noticed that I was no more than ten watches away from that coveted 1,000 bench that will hopefully give me some illusion of self-worth as I brand myself a popufur.
To celebrate, commissions are still closed, but I'd like to thank everyone that's been a part of this- not just new-comers, but to all the watchers that have supported me through the years. So! Once I hit 1,000 watches, I'm going to hold a raffle. I'll draw three names at random to be fair to everyone, and give those (un)lucky winners a free short story, something they can enjoy before they realize what a horrible mistake they made associating with me.
Anyways, I can't thank you guys enough for showing your support. It means so much to me, and I'm glad I'll actually be able to point to some vestige of an accomplishment in my life again. :D

Surgery
Posted 9 years agoI have gotten really bad at updating people. If you haven't been checking out the nightly streams I co-host frequently held by
rockytheprocy and
tkc2021 then you probably don't know I've been in excruciating pain the past two weeks. My wisdom teeth are impacted, and one of them is infected, making my whole jaw hurt and robbing me of sleep for weeks, now. I haven't been able to exercise without feeling acute pain down the entire left side of my face, can't concentrate on writing for the same reasons, and now I've finally scheduled a surgery to rip the fuckers out, tomorrow, Friday the 2nd.
It's all been paid for thanks to a generous donation from my Church, so this is just an update letting everyone know why I've been so inactive and while I'll continue to be out of commission for a few days yet. I have no idea how much I'm going to be knocked flat out, but if I say anything super embarrassing in the next 48 hours, please remember I am most likely high off my ass.
Thanks and God bless,

Project Time!
Posted 9 years agoAlright, so.
I've been mulling over things for awhile, and I've decided to take my break on commissions a bit early. I'm currently going through my remaining commissioners, and putting things on hold- since there's no outstanding payments, there aren't any loose threads to worry about.
This was something I've been debating myself over for some time, and I just need to relieve the pressure- at least for a little while. My financial situation has somewhat stabilized, and for a long time, I've been wanting to tackle personal projects.
So that means that you'll still be getting stories from me! And if you still want to commission me, I really appreciate it, but just hold off until, say, the beginning of September. This is by no means a permanent step back, I just want to do some stuff just for me for a while.
Thanks for your support, everyone! Expect something soon!

Howdy Y'all!
Posted 9 years agoAlright, back from Music City, USA!
Trip was... a thing. Some parts were good! And I think I've actually grown to like Country Music- some of it, anyways.
Just a quick little thing here- I am going to -close- for commissions right now. I've got six to chew through, and I just want to get 'em done, and focus on projects I've left on the back-burner for a while, now. I want to bring something big like Strength of a Thousand Men to you soon, and introduce some new characters!
Take care and God bless,

Nashville Trip
Posted 9 years agoJust a quick update; I'll be out of town this week! Heading out tomorrow morning for a family vacation in Nashville, Tennessee, and I'll be back, hopefully, next Sunday, July 17th. We might be a bit late, because it's a road trip. But beyond that, I will be working on commissions because I won't have a lot of distractions and a lot of down time, so hope to get some stories out soon!

#PrayforOrlando
Posted 9 years agoSo, many of you know I'm an Orlando native. And you probably know what's happened.
Last night, at the Pulse Nightclub, a popular gay venue, 50 people were killed by a despicable man, and 53 more were injured. The man in question deserves to be forgotten, to be thrown on the trash bin of history. He declared he did this for ISIS, and his hatred of homosexuals, and that is all you need to know. He was consumed by his biases and hatred, and his final actions made him sub-human. It has nothing to do with his race, his religion, or his gender; he was a monster. And now my hometown is marked as the site of the worst mass shooting in American history. But, the show has to go on. Orlando has a reputation as the most popular tourist attraction on Earth, and we all have to carry on. We have to put on a smile, even when we're dying on the inside. But that's alright, because that's who we are, here.
I am religious, and I will be praying. If you are, too, I'd welcome your prayers. I believe firmly that God loves everyone, and that he hurts when we do. I believe he even loved the shooter, and his heart breaks that the shooter found it necessary to do this. If you aren't religious, then I only ask you reach out to anyone that may be hurting from this horrible event. All of us, regardless of creed, should do what we can to help the healing process. Donating blood will help a lot for the surviving injured, in particular.
Take care, stay safe, and God Bless,

Posted 9 years agoI got hired by Disney! Again!
I can't give out too much info on public venues, but it's a new attraction opening in one of the parks. I'll be part of the opening team, which I'm super excited about. I go back to orientation on the 22nd, and on the 29th, I begin my first day of training. So, yay! I'm kind of glad to go back to Disney, actually. It might even be a little fun.

Fired. Again.
Posted 10 years agoAhaha, well, ain't this just the shit.
Literally a day after I post a journal about my new job
I'm fired.
Someone must be fucking with me, I swear to God.
So yes. Back to square one. Again. For those wondering why, I was late one day by three minutes because of an accident on the highway, and I had an unfortunate tendency to nod off in the middle of lectures, because I couldn't quite acclimate myself to the new, early morning schedule, and I took the wrong sort of medication for my seasonal allergies.
No warning. No prior action. Just "Fuck you, sleepyhead, get out of our building."
The fact they felt the need to escort me out was, I think, only insult to injury.
So. There we have it. I know I could've done things differently, I do, but holy shit.
God bless,
-Renard

Posted 10 years agoWow I suck at updating, haha
Sorry, everyone! A lot's happened. I finished up my project with
rockytheprocy and I know have a jerb!
I'm working for a University, and the training is ridiculous. I'm struggling through the first week, and then two weeks more. I'll be scant for that time, but after February 19th, I will be moving to a part-time schedule that can give me a lot more free time.
Until then, wish me luck!

Story Formats: Need Opinions
Posted 10 years agoFirst of all, thank you, everyone, for your kind words and sympathy about me losing my job at Disney. It helps a lot, seriously.
So, I have a question about my stories- more specifically, how I post my stories. I've always added my stories as a downloaded link, usually a .pdf, because that seems to be the best way to let people read the story. But, ever since I've worked with
rockytheprocy I've noticed that he and other story-tellers here on FA usually just post the story, wholesale, in the description. I've never done this, because I thought it was inconvenient to have a wall of text, but I tried it with my latest story. So, thoughts? Is it just easier to have the story posted in the description box, or should I just keep the .pdf links?
God bless,
-Renard

Fired
Posted 10 years agoYou know, I was beginning to wonder if I was missing out on something horrible happening to me this month. I mean, August I got fired from a well-paying job, September I lost my dog, I was starting to think I was going to lose a pattern, here.
Then I was fired from Disney a week ago. I just found out last night.
God bless, because evidently he's not sending anything my way,
