Return of the King (Also a poll question)
Posted 11 years agoOr Lolf, that works too.
So. Hey, everyone. Hope 2015 is treating you well.
It's... actually been awhile. And I feel bad about that.
So, all two of you that still care about li'l ol' me, I had what can be described as a mental breakdown. It took months to recover, and towards the end, I was diagnosed with a nervous disorder I've apparently had for awhile; makes me prone to panic attacks, obsession, paranoia, extreme stress, and makes me pretty damn emotional and needy. The good news is, it's not fatal- I'm taking some medication, depressants, and a new technique involving a new experimental heart monitor, so I should be on the mend over the next few weeks. I originally didn't want to say anything, but a good friend told me it was best to let people know- and this seemed like a good place to start.
And a good thing I'm on the mend, too, because I'm going to graduate. Hoo-fucking-ray, it only took $40k in student debt, wheeee. I also have an internship at St. Augustine's Lighthouse Museum- for those not in the know, I'm pursuing archeology as a career, and I could not be more excited. This place is big, it's near a lot of active digs, and I'm just... guh, I'm so excited. I start in the next few weeks! They seem super chill, so I'm really not expecting all that much of a big load of work this semester- I'll hopefully be coasting my way to a 3.5 GPA and graduating cum laude.
As for here- well. I want to get back to posting SOMETHING. Commissions are currently closed- I deleted the list a while back, since it was very old, but if I missed something, please, please let me know so we can work something out. I don't want to cheat anyone.
START HERE FOR POLL QUESTION, ALL MY TL/DR PEEPS:
And the big one- which I've gotten the most questions about. Academic Growth. Well, the wonderful artist who did all the illustrations, my friend
rehgan is a bit too busy to do the last few images- and I'm honestly done with it, too. It was a fun ride and a fun little experience, but I can't really think of a good ending for beefy!Renard and his Cheshire antics. So, Academic Growth is going to be discontinued. I'm sorry. Thank you all, immensely, for your support and interest, but I hope to come up with something better! This is not the last you'll see of Renard and Theo, I absolutely promise that.
But here's my little poll, see where my watchers are at: my next project, do you all want to see a Muscle growth focus, or a Fat/weight gain focus? I leave it completely in your hands. Poll ends whenever the fuck I feel like it. (At least 'til Monday)
I believe that's everything! I hope to be more of a presence in 2015, and Happy New Year to you all!
God Bless,
-Renard

Follow Up On That Maybe
Posted 11 years agoSo, my last journal was titled "Back! Maybe!"
Well, that maybe came and bit me on the ass. My Senior year, thus far, has been one steady stream of disappointments and complications. I've been meeting with the Registrar and the Housing people on a daily basis, and classes are not letting up- hence my absence as of late. Things seem to be getting more manageable, or perhaps I've just found a good rhythm now, so hopefully I can get you folks something soon.

Back! Maybe!
Posted 11 years agoAlright, so.
This summer. I did not like this summer. If not for a close couple of friends, I'd have completely lost it. It was lousy, disappointing, and filled with a lot of losses, ranging from job positions to friends. I don't really want to talk about it. What I DO want to talk about, however, is that my writing is coming back full force, and Academic Growth with it. So! If you even remember what it was, I'm hoping to continue it by next week. I'm also open for commissions- got three I'm tackling now, but if you're interested, please drop me a note! God knows I need the money.
Take care and God Bless,
-Renard

Anyone Know Atariboy?
Posted 11 years agoAlright. So, this is just a little placer for now- I'm looking for commissioners of Atariboy, or anyone that may have known Keanu. He's primarily done work in the furry fandom, and I'm sad to say that Keanu has passed away. God be with him, but, me and a few others are trying to find anyone that may have commissioned them, see if we can work something out.
Thanks and God Bless,
-Renard
EDIT: Sorry for the confusion. Keanu and Atariboy are different people, but they worked as a team, Keanu taking care of the business end.

Back! ...Kind Of!
Posted 11 years agoSo, finals finished, I'm home now.
And still no stories.
...Yeah.
I must stress how ungodly this semester's finals were: I had eight essays, two short stories, two presentations, and a chart depicting every major battle of the American Civil War.
Then I had to move everyone out of the dorms because RA.
Fun times.
Perhaps I've hit burn out, but I really want to get my commissions out, and I really want to get Academic Growth back on track. I WILL be finishing it, fret not! I'm in the midst of a Writer's Block, but I'm trying. To my commissioners, thank you for your immense patience, and if you need to drop the commission, I entirely understand, but if you stick it out (and see, this is exactly why I didn't ask for money up front) I'll throw in a little something extra to show my appreciation for your patronage.
Thanks for the support and interest though, all of you- I'm flattered I get asked about Academic Growth at all!

Finals. Kill Me.
Posted 11 years agoYeah. So.
All my writing projects are on hold right now- if I owe you a commission, thank you VERY much for your patience, I'll be sure you get a little something extra for your trouble.
Finals have made me their bitch this semester, which is bewildering, because while Finals has always been a busy time of year for me, it's never been this much of an absolute clusterfuck. So. Until May 2nd or so, I'mma disappear.
That's all for now, God bless,

Academic Growth, Commissions Update (And Weasyl!)
Posted 11 years agoShort and sweet, I've hit burn out.
For all those that have commissioned me, I, of course, thank you for your patronage. I've got a lot of good ideas for stories from folks, and I'm looking forward to tackling them :) But right now, I need to chill. (This is why I've told many of you to hold off payment, for now) School's starting to wrap up, and my Finals are looking to be pretty damn threatening. If I'm not studying though, I need to take some personal time- obviously, this includes Academic Growth, which I was so happy to see garner the attention it has. It is NOT over, and I -am- keeping it up. Those of you that have seen the accompanying picture by
rehgan (featuring the Contest winner,
artizek) know I'm looking to make it big- you can see it here for yourselves.
Thanks for the support and attention, everybody! Just gimme a few, and I'll be roaring back with more stuff.
God Bless,
-Renard
(Also I'll be moving AG to my new Weasyl account, here: https://www.weasyl.com/~dalolf Not leaving FA, just wanted to set up shop there, too!)

Want To Be In a Musclefur Story? Read Here and Win!
Posted 11 years agoA good number of you will know about my ongoing Musclefur Story, Academic Growth; if not, start here to get caught up!
Now, I never intended for -just- Renard to grow, so. I'm going to offer a little challenge- if anyone wants to be a muscle growth victim as I start to wrap Academic Growth up, all you have to do is guess my weight.
That's right, folks. Anyone who guesses my actual, real life weight will be featured in the story. If no one guesses the exact number, I'll just choose whoever gets it closest. Sound good? Wonderful. Good luck!
(By the by, if you've already been featured in the story or I've already talked to you about it, obviously, you don't need to take part in this.)
God Bless,
-Renard

Academic Growth and Commissions
Posted 11 years agoSo! I'm actually really happy by the response Academic Growth has been getting, thanks everyone for voting and supporting the project!
I'm still open for Story Commissions- there's no limit right now as to how many I'll take on.
Just wanted to also add, if you like what I'm doing and want to toss a little somethin' my way, I have a donate button located about five ticks above this journal.
Or here if you're lazy about getting rid of your disposable income.
Again, thanks for the support and kind words everyone, I hope to keep you entertained!

Story Project, Votes, and Commissions, Oh My!
Posted 11 years agoCommissions
Yes, at last, I'm opening myself up for Story Commissions!
If you enjoyed my first attempt at Musclefur done for Ian the Gecko, seen here then I'm offering story commissions for $3 a page. I so far have a bigger project in the works that I think you'll all enjoy, as well!
I'm closed for art, though. I'm still drawing, but I'm not terribly satisfied with my work right now, and don't feel right charging money for it.
Interactive Story Project
Alright, so. A few of you may already know this, but I prefer to think of myself as a writer first and an artist second. That being said, I want to really flex my literary muscles and dive in to a project I've been tossing around for awhile.
So without further ado, I want to announce the beginning of Academic Growth, one lolf's story of getting through college when he inexplicably gains several pounds of muscle at the hands of a mad trickster God-cat.
Yeah, it's that kind of story.
The story will be all about the Musclefur Community, and Furry Community in general, both of which I hold near and dear to my heart and desperately want to make fun of because I don't have anything else going for me right now.
But that's not all! I want YOUR input for the story, folks!
Each chapter will be accompanied by a picture done by
rehgan and other artists. (Who you should totally commission, just sayin') and in the comment section below, I'm going to offer a choice for you lovely viewers of three possible plot lines for the next chapter. Most popular choice will be what gets written about and drawn next!
So be sure to watch in the future! I hope to deliver a fun time for everyone.
God Bless,
Renard

I Really Like Memes
Posted 12 years agoCould you tell? This one stolen from
luprand!
What is your real name?
William
How tall are you?
6'2"
What's your natural hair color?
Bronze. You can call it Brown, I call it Bronze because it's fucking fabulous. (It's one of the few parts of my physical image I actually really like)
What's your eye color?
Hazel
What's your orientation? North-south.
Bi; I flit between liking men or women more.
Are you single, taken or undecided?
Single. SO single.
What do you do in your spare time?
Write, play video games, draw, RP.
What's your job or occupation?
I'm a Junior in college and an RA for one of the Halls, if that counts for main occupation- over the summers, though, I'm a Disney Cast Member at Didney Worl
What do you like about yourself?
MY HAIR.
...Not really. I'd say my intelligence, my sophistication. I pride myself on looking classy and speaking eloquently.
What do you dislike about yourself?
I still have acne. I have bad teeth. I have wide hips. And abandonment issues the size and scale of most European countries.
What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?
My poshness. No, seriously. And they keep using that word, too. That, or my rather animated personality.
What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?
Baptized and Confirmed in the Methodist Branch. I REALLY like the Methodist Church to this day.
Do you drink?
Not 21 yet!
...that means no. :|
Do you smoke?
Newp!
What are your major fears?
I'm actually very religious, so the thought of Hell scares me. As does nothingness. Various bogeymen like fucking Slender Man scare the crap out of me, though. Also isolation; again, abandonment issues up the butt.
Do you have any dreams or goals?
Several! I want to be a novelist, I want to pursue a career in history and Archeology, and I also want to run for office. If Benjamin Franklin could do it all, why can't I?
Have you ever had a crush or an ex?
YEP. Moving on.
Who's your best buddy?
I like to think I have several!
What's your favorite dish?
I have a thing for Chinese; Fried rice with lots of egg and Shrimp will always get me, but I'm a big lover of pasta, too. (with Shrimp. I like Shrimp.)
What's your favorite drink?
I like fruity things. Now there's a statement that can't be construed into any other possible meaning.
What's your favorite color?
Blue. Most of the things I own are blue.
If you had a super power, what would it be?
Super strength and the body to match, please.
What's your favorite movie?
Top 5: Amadeus, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast, 1776, Lord of the Rings/Chronicles of Narnia (Tied)
What's your least favorite food?
Anything with asparagus. BLEGH. Or Tuna.
What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?
I don't currently own a car, but I want a Rolls Royce, because, again, classy as Hell.
What is your most disliked bug?
Goddamn mosquitoes.
What pet peeves do you dislike the most?
I'm a Conservative (Er, mostly) Christian, so when Liberals and Atheists, both claiming to be intellectuals, say that my beliefs are stupid and they are therefore smarter than me, that REALLY drives me nuts. Also Historical Inaccuracies in arguments. I WILL correct you. Finally, hatred aimed at ANYONE based solely on their religion, their race, their sexual orientation, or their political beliefs. Hate them because they're a dick, not because they don't think like you do.
What do you dislike in life?
Financial difficulties.
What do you love in life?
The finer things, to be sure. But more than that, love itself; passion, and all its many glorious byproducts of art, literature, and music.

Well. Been awhile, FA.
I wish I had a better excuse- it's been hectic! I'm in the second half of my junior year, and last semester was... far, far from what I needed. A lot of tragedy. But I'm back for now! Hope to maybe re-establish myself as a half-way respectable artist and writer, so should have a few things out for you folks soon!
God Bless,

Tough Questions Meme
Posted 12 years agoFound this floating around on FA, and I'm a sucker for 'em.
A. If you could get away with one murder in your lifetime without any legal, social, or emotional repercussions, would you kill someone?
-No.
B. What is your first thought when you receive a message on Tumblr, are you excited for the idea of someone from potentially the other side of the world wanting to talk to you or fearful that someone will criticize you?
-I have one, haven't logged on in AGES.
C. Have you ever looked down on someone because you thought your religious views were superior?
-Haha. I was raised in a very conservative, Christian household, and took the holier-than-thou attitude for a ride for a looooong time. Some really good friends pointed out I was kind of being a dick years ago. So, yes, but I'm better, now!
D. Would you rather know everything the universe has to offer but in exchange lose all emotions or remain the way you are now?
-No; I'm a romanticist at heart.
E. If you could live and be healthy without sleeping or eating/drinking, which would you cut out of your life?
-I... dunno! I like both, actually. I like the feeling of sleep; of dreaming. Permanent insomnia, even without tiredness, would suck, and I like eating and drinking, too! If it was forced on me, though, I'd go with sleeping.
F. If you could take on the exact body and form of anyone else on Earth, who would it be?
-Oh, don't tease me. Soooo many bodybuilders and athletes to choose from.
G. Would you rather burn or freeze to death?
-Take it away, Frost! "Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice."
H. If it meant it would solve all world hunger, war, disease and bigotry, would you spend the rest of eternity in Hell?
- Well. Let's discuss that. If, like me, you believed in Hell and Heaven, then... what would it serve for YOU to spend eternity in Hell if all the people who suffer in this life have just as good a shot as you do of getting into Heaven? I would do lots of things to end the suffering of this world, but not that.
I. Was the first crush in your life something you had or something someone had on you?
-If we're talking, like, kiddy crushes, there was this one girl who was crazy about me when we were like... 6. But my first "proper" crush also happened to be my first true romance- a very spirited girl with red hair and a very, very nice body that did NOT take "no" for an answer.
J. Could you live without having sex ever (again) in exchange for eternal youth?
-As I am still a virgin, I'll get back to you on that!
K. Have you ever watched a full length pornographic movie?
-No, and I have no interest.
L. The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
-Beatles.
M. If you could have the ability to manipulate matter or energy, which would you choose?
-That can be interpreted in many different ways. But, if it's the way I have pictured, energy.
N. What was the worst nightmare you ever had?
-Hell. Being cut off from the light of God.
O. Would you rather spend one year with your one true love just to never see them again or the rest of your life with second best?
-Uhm. How do you interpret second best? XD Would I just be caught in a loveless marriage, then? If that's the case, the former; if we'd be content, the latter.
P. All the sequels/remakes/adaptations/rip-offs in movies nowadays, good or bad?
-Good or bad, it's creatively dead. Can we please get some new material?
Q. Would you rather be dirt poor and emotionally fulfilled in life or be rich beyond imagination and emotionally dissatisfied for life?
-The latter, because it's far easier (for me) to fix emotional problems than money problems.
R. Do you have any (secret) feelings of bigotry to any group of people?
-Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be secret! I don't... think so? I mean, I get a bit defensive when talking to outspoken liberals or atheists; because I assume they're just going to try to pontificate at how "ignorant" I am, but I've made really good friends out of both, so, I know better.
S. Would you rather be the only person in the world that can read minds or have everyone else in the world be able to read minds except for your own?
-Oooh, the latter intrigues me- I'd be the only person in the world that could be a total mystery. But that has social pariah written all over it, so the former.
T. If everyone in the world would automatically only know one language, which language would you choose?
-Honestly, if everyone's speaking the same language, I don't really care, because any cultural significance it had would fade away, it'd just be "common tongue" or anything else equally as neutral. But if I had to choose... French or Latin, for purposes of being very beautiful languages, or English, because I fucking rock at speaking English.
U. If you were old enough and not in a situation where it would be inappropriate, would you sleep with one of your (past) school teachers/professors?
-No. I'm an academic at heart; I wouldn't threaten my integrity like that.
V. A world without religion, good, bad, neutral?
-Bad. Religion has been used and manipulated several times as either the catalyst or the excuse for any number of atrocities, but it's just that- an excuse. We flawed humans would find any other reason to validate our actions, and religion has likewise inspired some of the greatest achievements in art, literature, music, architecture, politics, science, and any number of other fields. When we are inspired to touch the divine, to learn from it and cherish it, we are capable of truly great things.
W. The men's rights movement, legitimate cause or laughable, and why?
-Perhaps a bit premature? I mean. I can call bullshit on any number of instances where "women's rights" has just been an excuse, but... until we're being told to stay in the kitchen, let's just calm down a bit, lads.
X. You can eliminate one of your five senses to substantially strengthen the others, which one and would you do it?
-I've got pretty good perception as it is! So, I'm quite content. But if I -had- to, smell. As much as I enjoy good smells, it's the least... hm. Practical?
Y. Do looks mean anything to you? Don't lie, could you fall in love with someone you thought was ugly?
-Yeah, not gonna lie, I'm vain. I haven't -met- my true love yet, so we'll see! In the mean time, I can just cross my fingers and hope she/he's pretty/buff-as-fuck
Z. Can you understand the mindset and logic used by the opposite spiritual opinion? An atheist understanding the belief in a higher power and vice versa.
-Yes. I understand why certain people believe certain things. My best friend's an Atheist, and 'least one of my bros is a spiritual/agnostic. They're both intelligent, and I totally get where they're coming from. I don't agree with them, but, I understand.
And that's all for now! Just something to unwind.
God bless,
-Renard

My Summer "Break"
Posted 12 years agoAlright, so, I've been pretty much dead to FA, yea?
Here's why-
Besides from seeing a couple of friends, my summer break's been taken up by my job at Disney- they've been throwing 12, 13, 14 hour shifts at me, so by the time I get home, I'm pretty much DOA. But! Got a promotion of sorts, so hurray.
It's still grueling work, and school for me will actually begin August 10th, as I have to be back early for RA Training. I've also been named the President of the school's Campus Outreach Program, so I'm looking towards a busy year- not as busy as I am now, so I'll be back. Eventually.
Beyond that... I'll be making my regular appearance at Megaplex this year; just look for the guy in the three piece suit awkwardly standing around on his own. I'll also be pimping out
rehgan, who couldn't make it. So definitely talk to me if you want some really fantastic art!
Take care and God bless,

Veeeeeent Journal (Also Cats)
Posted 12 years agoOkay, so. For those of you that don't know, I'm an RA (Residential Advisor) for my Dorm here at college.
And you wanna know what I love about my job?
Smart-mouthed douchebags that think they can tell me how to do my job.
So.
I'm on duty for the night, which essentially means I and one other person have to keep all the little darlings that live in this dorm from setting it on fire. No small feat.
I get a call on the duty phone that there's a report of someone keeping a cat. Anyone that's been to college will know that you're really not supposed to have animals in the dorms. I go to the room, sure enough, this cute, not three-month old kitten is scampering around. I explain the situation calmly, and the residents of the room accept the consequences- a huge ass fine, and the cat has to be out of the room by morning.
Cool.
I got in the elevator later that evening to do my midnight rounds of the building.
This guy gets in. I've never spoken to him in my life, never seen him before.
And he turns to me and goes, "So... what was the big deal with the cat?"
"....Pardon?" I ask.
"The cat on the 4th floor- it's just a small cat. It wasn't hurting anybody." He said.
"Uhm... well, it's against the rules." I answer.
"Yeah, but why?" He retorts.
"Because it's not healthy for the cat- it really shouldn't be in that small and crowded of a place, and it's not healthy for everyone else." I explained.
"Oh, what, so you're an expert on cats?"
...
Bitch, please. I don't need to be a goddamned Veterinarian to know that keeping a cat in some nasty-ass cardboard box is NOT healthy. Who the hell do you think you are, you goddamned motherfucker, to tell me that it's "no big deal"? You know what's not a big deal? Underage drinking. Smoking pot. What? It's not HURTING anyone. But I still gotta follow through with it, and you think that the two hours of goddamned paper work I have to fill out because you dumbasses can't follow some basic rules is worth me doing this just for shit and giggles? That I'm just pushing some girl and her cat around for no goddamned reason?
I work too damn hard for this bullshit. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, sir. You take a day, deal with people giving next to no respect to you, tearing down anything you put up in the Halls just because you thought it'd be a nice thing to liven up this goddamn morgue of a dorm. You deal with the thinly-veiled hostility you get from just trying to be a nice guy to your residents.
UGH. People suck.

*Sheepishly Sticks his Head in*
Posted 12 years agoHey, everyone.
Just thought I'd put out something a little more public to explain what's been goin' on.
Essentially, School's been on my case like... something that gets on cases. I'm too tired for clever metaphors. I just finished a massive paper, getting ready for exams, and sleep is nowhere to be found betwixt. Things are a bit slower this week, so I will do my BEST to get out more art. I should get a few pieces, at the least. I'm very sorry to everyone who's commissioned me thus far, it shouldn't be taking this long, but, c'est la vie.
Take care and God bless,
-Renard

Romantic Lolf- The Perfect Mate
Posted 13 years agoOkay, so, I should have more information about the book soon! Thanks so far to
redrodent,
silverwolfentertainment and
chimewolf for beta reading and weighing in thus far. If you'd like to help out, or I didn't get back to you, (Sorry!) let me know in a note!
In the meantime... it's almost the day where we sodomize the Feast of a Christian Martyr and rip off the Roman Lupercalia, Valentine's Day. As inevitable as the bloody tide, I have no one to court on this obligatory romantic day. So, thought I'd resurrect an old meme I found whilst FA Lurking.
The Perfect Mate
1. Gender?
Both, but a definite edge towards the ladies.
2. Hair?
For women? I adore dark, luscious hair, either brown, black, or a deep, auburn red. For guys, same for the color, but I like it trimmed, with some facial hair to round it out.
3. Eyes?
Color doesn't mean that much to me, really! I love 'em all.
4. Body?
For a woman, almost something regal. Healthy curves, but well proportioned. Overall, Elegant. Also, not as tall as me. XD For men? Built like a brick house. Mmmph <3 In more loose terms, so long as I'm motorboating -something-, I'm good.
5. Personality?
She'd be sweet, open-minded, but with a fiery passion for life. A passion, a DRIVE for something. For him? Haven't put that much thought into it for a man, though.
6. Affection?
Well, she has to let -me- be affectionate, too. I'm very traditional, and while it's not that I don't think she can't take care of herself, I want to provide for her, anyways. She'd be loving, but a bit of a tease, too, coupling any kiss she gives with a knowing smirk.
7. Attitude?
Like I said, she'd be a bit of a tease. But she'd be a challenge to me, intellectually. Someone who I'd regard as an intellectual equal, and who regards me likewise, as well. She'd regard me as such, but she'd never admit it. Neither would I.
8. Sex?
Well, I'm still a virgin, if that tells you anything. I want her to regard it as something sacred, something... almost ethereal. It shouldn't be something down and dirty, but the merging of two halves of one whole. The ultimate expression of our love.

Guess Who's Writing A Children's Book?
Posted 13 years agoThis guuuuuy
I'm partnered in a little project with my bro,
rehgan, who'll be illustrating the book. I've just finished the rough draft, and now I need beta-readers. I'm looking for people that work with kids, or are particularly in touch with their inner-child. If you want to help out, let me know! I'm not sure if beta-readers are usually paid or not, but, when the book's published, it'll be something you can put on your resume, yeah?
If you're interested, let me know in a note- tell me your experiences with kids, and why you want to beta read for a kid's book. I'm primarily after people who either work with children, or, ideally, have children.
Oh, and yes, I'm still open for commissions!
Take care, everyone!

College + Life = Divide by Zero
Posted 13 years agoJesus on Buttered-fuck Crumpets Christ, this shit is bananas.
Okay, so, I'm REALLY sorry about commissions. I know, it's terrible, I'm terrible, but all sorts of crap has been going on, not the least of which includes my Dad being rushed to the hospital, and my sudden promotion to RA position at school. I've been absolutely hammered.
I will, of course, still do commissions as I start to settle into a routine, but, if anyone wants their money back, PLEASE let me know. I can get it back to you tout suite, if you so desire.
Take care, everyone!

Commissions IV
Posted 13 years agoHey, all.
Thank you so much for your patience- to those unaware, I'm just recovering from a surgery which came on rather suddenly, and had me out of sorts for a couple of days. I'll be working tonight and tomorrow to finally crank out the commissions I owe people. Thanks again for your patience, everyone, and happy New Year's!

I'll be working tonight and tomorrow to finally crank out the commissions I owe people. Thanks again for your patience, everyone, and happy New Year's!
God Bless,

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year
Posted 13 years agoHey all,
First off, thanks to all of those that've been patient with me for commissions. Once the holiday's passed, I'll get right to work.
Speaking of the holiday... once again, it's Christmas. It’s been another long year folks, one with a lot of hardship, a few disappointments, but every once in a while, a moment of pure beauty pops up to make everything alright again. But I am moving ever forward, though taking a break right now to reflect. Christmas is a time of hope, faith, and joy. A spiritual re-awakening, where the blessings found in the manger in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago still touch us today. I pray that God will bless my friends and family in the coming year, and that you too, no matter how many hardships you and yours are facing in this day and age, will be able to see those spots of beauty life has to offer.
That's all,
Merry Christmas, and God bless,
-Renard

Commissions III
Posted 13 years agoI'm sorry. I really am.
For all those waiting for commissions, I've got some bad news. My Dad was rushed into the hospital this morning, and this has pretty much thrown things into a state of utter chaos. If you want your money back, that's understandable- I just ask for some time, most likely after Christmas. If you still want your commissions, I'll still be doing them. But I need to be there for my family right now; I leave tomorrow for a trip to see my Grandmother, probably for the last time. She's sick, and I need to be ready to help in any way I can. This does not leave a lot of time for drawing.
Again, I'm sorry. In the Christmas spirit, I simply ask for some understanding; a man has to be there for his family, especially at Christmas.
Take care everyone, and God Bless,
-Renard

A Bit More About Me
Posted 13 years agoSo, yeah. Sorry for... well, no activity whatsoever, but I'm in College now! Besides having a connection apparently made of popsicle sticks and wishful thinking, I'm pretty busy. But, I'm here to do a meme, because they have been a guilty pleasure of mine for years.
1. Who are you?
A neurotic, yet idealistic and ambitious man. I'm going places. Whether I'm going there in a straitjacket or not has yet to be seen.
2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
I'm very religious. I'm a firm believer in Christ, but I'm not a fire-and-brimstone guy. I'm also fairly conservative; I put a lot of stock in tradition, and traditional American values. However, I always crave intellectual stimulation. I love being around people with differing opinions than I that are willing to have debates and intellectual conversations; it always helps to gain new perspectives.
3. When you aren't doing memes like this one what are you doing?
Study, video games, writing, work, or working out. (The last one I've sort of fallen off the trail, but I'm getting back to it!)
4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).
I'm in College, now. By far my favorites are History and English; I couldn't possibly choose between the two. After that, art, science, music, and, least favorite, math.
5. What is your biggest goal for this year?
Get progress done on my novel. Maybe start talking to publishers.
6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
Pursuing my Master's in History, and pursuing an overall lifelong goal of becoming an Archeologist.
Also, hopefully, not single.
7. What stage of life are you in right now?
Probably still technically in adolescence.
8. Are you more child-like or childish?
Heh. I'm very nostalgic about the cartoons I grew up with, and Disney World, where I grew up. I'm very idealistic, some might say, naive.
9. What is the last thing you said out loud?
"That didn't happen last time..." when a huge, trumpeting fanfare burst forth from my computer while I was trying to download an update for a Fantasy RPG.
10. What song comes closest to how you feel about your life right now?
"Love Is the Protest" by Jars of Clay. Or "Dream On" by Aerosmith.
11. Have you ever taken martial arts classes?
I have! Tae-kwon-doe for three, four years. I actually did make it to black belt, but that was ages ago- I'm -really- rusty.
12. Does your life tend to get better or worse or does it just stay the same?
Since early May, things have gotten markedly worse, and a hundred little problems still chittering around me drive me crazy. But, I'm an optimistic sir, and I think things might be taking a turn for the better.
13. Does time really heal all wounds?
Yes, but some wounds will still scar.
14. How do you handle a rainy day?
I'm a Floridian, so I deal with them a lot. I actually love the rain- when I'm indoors, because it gives me an excuse to literally dive under my blankets and snuggle up with a book.
15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
Losing your luggage. What kind of question is that?
16. How is (or was) your relationship with your parents?
First off, I love my parents very much. But I'm really tired of living with them. Mom has been suffering much longer than I have this year, and I can respect that- I can respect a lot of things about my mother. My Dad has, and is, making some decisions in life I'm very much disappointed over, and, there is a bit of a divide because I'm no longer conservative enough for his tastes.
17. Do you tend to be aware of what is going on around you?
Heh, it's a problem I'm working on.
18. What is the truest thing that you know?
Love never fails- 1 Corinthians 13:8
19. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Oooh. I was a weird kid. I wanted to be a Cruise Ship Captain, because my parents had taken me on the Disney-owned "Wonder" Cruise ship, and it was the most awesome thing my 7-year old self had ever experienced. After that, I did, and still do, have flirtations about running for office one day. Right now, I want to become an Archeologist and novelist; the former would be my official position, the latter something I can do in my free time.
20. Have you ever been given a second chance?
Yes! One friend of mine whom I'm very close to gave me a second chance after two years of not talking to each other. It's still one of the coolest things anyone's ever done for me.
21. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
A lot of people say I'm too much of a giver. But I don't think so, what I give is usually stuff I don't need, so I'd just be a jackass if I didn't share.
22. Do you make your decisions with an open heart/mind?
As much as I pride myself for being an intellectual, I tend to let the heart rule. I'm very much a romantic, and can easily be swayed by sentiment.
23. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
Oosh. I COULD say that it was some wound I received at a construction site for rebuilding an Orphanage, but the most painful has been a stubborn ingrown toe nail that has been with me since March. Not because the pain is intense, but the pain just WON'T GO AWAY.
24. What is the most emotionally painful thing that has ever happened to you?
This summer, probably. Stretching from May to August, I lost friends who turned out weren't really friends, lost loved ones to a plethora of tragedies, and spent most of my time very, very much alone.
25. Who have you hugged today?
No one. But now I want to. >.>
