California Trip 7/27/14 - 8/3/14
Posted 11 years agoSo I've been in glorious Los Angeles for the past few days for my sisters ice skating competition. This is the first time i've ever been to California so naturally i'm treating it like a great adventure.
Monday I spent most of the day working as I worked out a deal with my job to work remotely in lieu of taking PTO. Afterward I met up with one of my friends Austin who I brought back to the hotel from his place. I really did enjoy hanging out with him he's awesome. Ended up going to the Disneyland shopping district that night before I took him home. My sister was spazzing out over everything, she's such a Husky. Driving through the Desert was an experience, I've never seen this type of environment before it was so fascinating I nearly ran off the road just looking at everything. Also I found Mt Chilliad on my trip out there to pick up Austin. I've spent a lot of my time here comparing things to GTA 5, a source of much amusement for me.
Tuesday we hiked up to the observatory and got to see the cityscape. I didn't realize how freaking huge LA was nor did I realize what smog was. My initial reaction "I need more ram, this draw distance is pretty shitty." Ended up going to the wax dummy museum by the Chinese theater which was fun and the best candy store in the world which was even more fun. I didn't know they still made Charms or Fruit Striped gum... my childhood! :D But yeah cruised some of the city, mostly up an down Hollywood blvd. Realized the Chinese theater was much like time square in New York complete with people in creepy Elmo costumes looking to take pics for money and the aspiring musician forcing his music into your hands an expecting you to pay for it. Just a thought, a fursuiter may be able to make better money there than any of them because of the quality put into suit construction in the fandom vs. the costumes people buy at party city.
Weds was more or less me working from the room and watching movies because I had crap to do. I'm planning go to to the beach Thursday, sisters competition on Friday and San Diego to visit a friend all day Saturday followed by beer and the beach again Sunday. If anyone wants to meet up feel free to say so because why the hell not right? I'm always down for meeting new people. Will update when I can.

Grey Fox/Wolf Folf? Canine Fursuit For Sale!? X3

I'm selling my first full fursuit made by a local fur
denimwizard Selling because I lost weight and it no longer fits me comfortably.
I can count on one hand how many times I've worn this guy to cons, outside those maybe one or two parties. The suit itself doesn't look worn at all TBH, I can take more detailed pics to show this if you like. I can be reached either here or via email renardthatch(at)gmail. com.
The suit is made with a soft teddy bear grey medium pile fur and a super soft medium pile white fur. It was washed after every con with woolite in cold cold water inside out to protect the fur. Tumbled dry without heat to keep the fur from curling. The head is built around a balaclava, the jaw itself is non moveable but there is a hole at the back of the mouth for straws. The eyes are my own attempt at follow me eyes; I was debating putting in some toony eyes to replace them. There are two sets of feet, one abnormally larger than the other. The second pair (featured in the photos) were made so I could walk normally, they are built around size 13 shoes. Handpaws are toony so 4 fingers with lots of room for medium to big hands.

Should I buy Fur Affinity?

I've never really been one for journals on FA. I think it's silly especially since I have Facebook, Twitter, Live Journal and etc and so on. In the end you spend more time writing about things that piss you off than actually doing something about it. Getting to the point i'd like to make, i'm not going anywhere. I do however have a Weasyl account which i'll link at the bottom of this journal for those interested in following me there. That said I kind of want to buy out Fur Affinity since I have several people interested in creating something similar. However at this juncture I don't know if that would be a wise investment given people's propensity to hold a grudge against any particular brand for whatever reason. Countering that argument is the fact that it's an established name that would be easier to re-launch with a modern architecture. Granted that would piss a bunch of people off but starting from scratch is generally a good way to fix any lingering issues. Anyone reading this, let me know your thoughts in the comments section. I'll be happy to discuss your points of view but I wont be responding to any comments that deviate from the subject of this journal.
