Chronicles of the Verdant Lust
Posted 12 years agoSo I've finally stopped wimping out about it and decided to take up writing the story I've had rattling around in my head for quite a while now. Chronicles of the Verdant Lust will be a series of stories that follows the lives of the Cuirizu of the Verdant Lust and those who have been drawn in to their spheres of influence. I went back and forth on a lot of approaches to this, but finally decided it was time to just jump in and stop worrying about it so much. I decided to dispose of the "Volume I, II, III, etc" format and give each story it's own unique name so that should I feel the need to back track and tell a story that is out of sequence or abruptly jumps to another set of characters, there won't be an issue with numbering.

Paypal Unavailable
Posted 13 years agoRecently my paypal account became locked, and is now unavailable to me. While I am not going to name any names, I believe it to be someone who actually reported the nature of the payments I have been receiving to paypal directly who in turn took action. I don't want to detail why this is my belief, as I have no desire for witch hunts or finger pointing. Reasons aside, I still find myself unable to use paypal any longer, and thus unable to take commissions.
I'd love to hear suggestions on other services that could be of use, not simply services who allow the transactions but namely services who do not have policies against the content of the art I sell and/or services other potential clients or artists are actually USING. If there is a service with no restrictions it does me no good if no one uses it, and if there is another service that is popular but has the same restrictions I could be facing this again in short order the next time someone is displeased with me.
I'm not only asking for suggestions, but also letting people know that commissions are closed. And they shall remain closed indefinitely until I can find another service and/or feel as though I am comfortable with opening such a service back up to the general public.

Clearing the Board, Commissioners take heed.
Posted 14 years agoAlright so I've been doing some digging in to the false refund thing. It seems as though someone had gone through my previous commission Queue's and posed as some of those individuals to request "refunds". This is how it breaks down....
Person would send me an e-mail with the subject line of commission or commission refund or just refund. I would open it and see a variation on "hey I'm so and so from such and such and saw you were giving refunds. I would like to request said refund." And I would go in to my list, look up what it was that was to be refunded and refunded the money. From there the person was deleted from my list of pending work.
Now as it turns out I have many people coming forward saying that they did not in fact request those refunds. This is way after the fact mind you and now I'm scrambling to figure out who this really was that did it, what can be done, and how I'm going to even get back on track.
Unfortunately it seems as though I won't be able to do any of these things. I don't have the info of many of the commissions, I don't even have time now that I'm back in classes AND working, and it seems paypal is unable to give me any help....this last part is the biggest issue. They require detailed information as to what the transactions were all about. But I can't even tell them what it was for because much of the work was of an adult nature. If this is discovered my paypal account will be cancelled...they frown on that sort of thing there. So now what? Now nothing. I have to cancel those commissions that were refunded and will refund the amount to the appropriate people.
Precautions being put in place this time? I will not honor any requests for refunds from e-mails, as thats what got me in trouble the last time. Notes and private messages only, or if you have my messenger names and know me through there... talk to me there. I have a couple people who's commissions I will finish up because they were already started, but beyond this I have no means of getting back on track. Now once everything is refunded and the board is cleared I will revisit how viable it is to open NEW slots. I have more than enough money to cover everyone's losses right now because of the job I have, please note or message me to get your share. Otherwise I -will- have to consider that you were refunded legitimately the first time. I honestly won't be entertaining people coming to me a few weeks or months from this journal and saying "oh I just saw that post..." won't fly. Lack of communication has been the root of this problem.

False Refunds?
Posted 14 years agoOk it seems as though I have been ripped off at some point. A little while back I posted a journal about offering refunds on various commissions on my list. I got a fairly sizeable response to this and paid everyone back what they were owed due to an extensive wait time that they were suffering through with me. Now someone has come forward asking me the status on his work, and has informed me he never asked for his money back....which means someone asked for said money and got it that wasn't him.
Please. I need notes from everyone who commissioned me as to whether or not they did or did not request their money back. I will accept Notes only for this, as the problem seems to have started with people sending me e-mails going "hey I'm so and so from such and such"....so Notes only. I want to find out what's going on here. Namely because a lot of people have been waiting for work simply because I thought I'd refunded them.

Denial IS Magic
Posted 14 years agoAnd by that I mean its absolutely effin magical that so many adult men can kid themselves in to thinking they are doing anything other than fapping over a little girl's cartoon show. I've heard it all up to this point, that it's some kind of phenomenal remake, that its fun for the whole family, and that it's totally not for little girls? People justify fandoms and I've heard it all before. I honestly could care less about someone digging something, I like some stupid ass shit. But I don't run around trying to justify my fandom to others and sell it for anything other than what it is.
What bothers me more is the sexualization of it. I understand that might sound odd coming from me and some of the weird shit I'm in to. But I actually remember some of the 80s surprisingly enough, I had a sister who loved these effin ponies. And I had a lot of friends who were girls that loved it. Now its back, like so many things from that time, and this time its guys fappin (or 'clopping', as the fandom has a term for the fapping of ponies) to the stuff. If said people have a shred of artistic ability it turns in to a big ol porn fest of the ponies.
Is that odd on FA? I suppose not. Not from an animalish point of view, but I have never been a fan of people getting all super in to children's characters and sexualizing them and then acting as if nothing is amiss. It's just shy of jerkin off on to your little sisters barbies guys. And now we got a banner that is all sportin a fandom that online among an adult community has gained most of it's steam in sexually suggestive or downright explicit content. People can deny it up and down and blah blah the shit out of this journal but the fact will remain that most of the art that pops up in my watches or in browsing is not of ponies frollicking happily and learning life lessons and discovering the magic of friendship. It's of bleary eyed ponies in bed, ponies fucking other ponies, or whatever the hell else people cook up.
Am I gonna boycott the site? No. That sort of thing just generally doesn't -work- here. Basically I can bitch in a journal get it out of my system and be done with it. But seeing as I'm feeling in a particularly vindictive mood for this nonsense I'm going to add a little bonus. Any artist who posts MLP pic of a subtle or overt sexual nature that is on my watch list will be subsequently removed. Never to be rewatched again. Does this hurt the artist? Psh, no. They won't care. But it's a nice way of solving my own problem in minimizing my exposure to something that does nothing but annoy the shit outta me.

The Lush Artists Alternative
Posted 14 years agoSome of you may have noticed some of the work I have done for and to promote a site called Lush Artists. Some of you may have been curious enough to check it out, and some of you may have ignored it altogether. But for those of you curious about it who didn't have reason to click through to it or run a search, I'm going to talk a little about it here. The reason for this isn't to strictly promote the site, but because I've done a little looking around to see some of the discontent with this site's merging with another site called Furocity.
I gotta say I think most people are whiners and that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with FA's merger in this respect, but whatever.
While there are plenty of users here on FA that use the site as a anthro/furry community, there are many more who are actually using it for it's adult user base. I am one of the latter. There was once a site call hArtists that functioned as a community centric adult art site that was such a breath of fresh air after dealing with sites like HentaiFoundry. Many of you here are familiar with that site as well, and may have noticed it too has gone through a merger and don't like what it represented...some may be connecting that with the merger here, I don't think that's the case but I'm getting off track. hArtists was a great site to be a part of but eventually it was shut down because the sole admin was having some in life conflicts that simply didn't permit the site to continue existing. The community wanted a new place to go and the now Admin of Lush Artists stepped up with an idea, his name is DTenshi.
I will now break down some quick stats for the site for your consideration:
- The site is still technically in beta, and many of it's projected features have not yet been implemented. Input from all users is welcome.
- Every user has a default status that may then be upgraded to an artists status after an approval process. This process is decidedly less douchey than HentaiFoundry's and mods and the community alike are always happy to provide constructive feedback to you and help workshop any issues you might have!
- Lush values original characters but does not discriminate against fanart.
- While the site may appear to be "human centric" right now, it is merely due to not having attracted much furry talent as of yet. We're all appreciators of adult oriented work there and would love to see more furry artists join our ranks.
- A monthly jam is introduced every month for artists to get involved in, with the turnout being put in to a central gallery when the jam reaches its conclusion. These Jams are drawn from community suggestions rather than dictated by one guy every month.
- A front page oneliner combined with the forums helps to create a more real time community environment for people to share ideas and just get to know one another.
- The site is located outside of the united states and as such follows a slightly different set of laws. What this means immediately for the site is that there is no loli (or underage erotic work in general), bestiality, or guro work. Bestiality is defined as work involving a depiction of a real animal that actually exists. Anthropomorphic animals of any kind are not real and thus do not fall in to bestiality. Some people who have checked that site already may have shied away when they saw this policy, but Anthro work is NOT banned on the site.
Why am I discussing the site here? Shameless self promotion? A pride in what we have been working on there? Well in part, but also because THIS community at FurAffinity has done an immense amount to accomodate the former hArtists community when it imploded. Many of us were faced with some grim options on where to post our work, and many of us found that once we dove in to this community we found a pretty friendly accepting place even if we were not strictly furry artists. I am one of these people, I found an amazingly warm reception here and even after the opening and ongoing growth of Lush-Artists.com, have chosen to keep my gallery here indefinitely. I see some of the things that happens in this community, both good and bad. I would love to see some of those good things brought to our community, I'd love to make people doing erotic art that they do have other community options and aren't stuck with this or the HF machine. I would like to give something back to the lot of you for having been so supportive of not just me, but the other people that were in need of a place like I was. This is my primary motivation for this post, and I hope that it is seen as such.

Offering Refunds on Commissions!
Posted 14 years agoAs some of you may be aware, there has been a massive lag in my commission workload, more so then usual. For those of you still waiting on work, or who have theirs done but wondered why the wait was so long I would like to offer you an explanation I have up to this point kept mum on.
It's nothing super serious.... not like mortally anyway. But I kept mum because I always feel like explanations like this come off as excuses and a lack of responsibility on the part of an artist and when I see it I tend to roll my eyes, and yet here I am.
So basically school work has been keeping me completely busy for the most part. Now before you roll your eyes like I would, I have come with a mathematical break down of how this goes. Every week I attend 4 classes, each averaging about 3 hours. Each class in turn strives to give out 2 hours of homework every week for each hour spent in class. Total time in class is 12 hours, and total time spent on homework is 24. So thats 36 hours every week at the minimum that I spend doing things related to school. Some classes I have are 4 hours long, and some classes will give more than the 2 to 1 ratio. Weeks leading up to midterms break the bank on time spent work (well over 50) and finals approaches 60. This is what going for an animation degree gets me.
Now that's just school, numerous other things I have to attend to in every day life eat up a good deal of time as well, not to mention the travel in a public transit just to get too and from school. When it all boils down to it I get fairly little time to work on commissions, and of that I have even less opportunity to work on any sort of erotic work..... I just don't work on that stuff while in a public place, only at home. Then there's the fact I do CG on a desktop computer, it doesn't go with me.
Now the figures I have dropped here are based off of last term, and the term ahead of me looks as though it will be even more labor intensive with 2d animation and conceptual design classes.
So I'm writing this to let everyone know what the lay of the land is, and to do the responsible thing. I do not know when these commissions will get done, I work on them any time I get the chance, but as stated that isn't very often. I am anticipating the workload getting heavier. So here is what I'm going to do.
ANYONE WHO HAS A UNFINISHED COMMISSION WITH ME CURRENTLY MAY NOTE ME IMMEDIATELY TO REQUEST A REFUND IF THEY ARE UNWILLING TO WAIT.
All you need to include in your note is how much you paid and the paypal address you would like it to be refunded to. I have come in to a bit of a cash refund on things and am in a position that I can offer these to EVERY commissioner who currently has work commissioned if they so choose. If you are not worried about this and are willing to wait, that is fine with me. I do not want replies in anything other than note form and I will assume anyone who does not get a hold of me is ok with the undertermined wait time.
If you have other questions however, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer you.

Posted 15 years agoAlright so that's a wrap folks. It's now past 8 here on the west coast and the sale has come to an end. I had some pretty good results this year with the five dollar pics, so I might have to do it again next year, we'll see how management of the workload goes. I'll be posting the roster in a few days to give everyone an idea of where they're at.
Anyone who has contacted me about a commission before this point but has not yet finalized it has a grace period, never fear. I know everyone has their schedules and they're not all going to match up but let's wrap it up quickly so i can put together that roster for everyone else.
People who have payment pending, I just wanna get that done as soon as possible. Anyone who has not talked to me about the specifics of their payment before now have 48 hours to get it to me. If the money is not received within that 48 hours the slot you reserved is forfeit to remain fair to those who were able to get theirs in. This only applies to those who have not already spoken to me about payment arrangements before this journal posting.

Posted 15 years agoSome of you who have watched my work for a while know that in the past I have been pretty resistant to the idea of doing commissions that contain fanart. That is to say art of licensed characters. I just never felt comfortable with it in the past but as of late I've felt more and more like giving it a shot, and after a few sketches that were fanart I feel like I'm in a place where I can pull it off well enough. So then with that in mind I would like to announce that for those interested in commissions, Fanart is now available and for the time being has no additional charge to it beyond the usual prices. Though expect there to be additional screening on any commission ideas involving fanart.
Also along those lines I would like to post that with my current commission load starting to get wrapped up, I am opening the new round of commissions. I will be re-posting the prices below so you don't have to go looking around for them on the shoutboard. If you aren't personally looking for a commission but know someone who IS, please point them this way, it would be a huge help.
Some prices have changed, as I've made the baseline pricing based entirely off of sketches, and have created a separate category for inking.
PROTIP: Sketches take much less time than Full CGs, if you're just looking for something quick for in the now, that would be your best bet.
Prices
Character Line Art Portrait: This is a pencil sketch and includes an area from the shoulders up. Cost is $5
Character Line Art Bust: This is a pencil sketch and includes an area from the waist and up. Cost is $7
Full Body Character Line Art: This is a pencil sketch, and includes the entirety of the character from head to toe. Cost is $12
Inking: Smoother Darker lines applied to the sketch Via Photoshop. Cost is +$3 applicable to my own sketches, inking someone else's sketch (with permission) carries a base cost of $5.
Grayscale: This pertains to pencil shading to go with the line art of any of the three main categories. Cost is +$5
Computer Color: The full treatment, color work through photoshop applied to the lineart. The inking charge is already factored in to this cost. Cost is +$10 applicable to my own lineart or the lineart of another artists provided you have their permission.
Additional Characters: Includes another character of roughly the same proportions as the original. This means if the original is a full body, the second can be as well. If the first is a Bust, the second is as well. If someone commissions a portrait at 5, and tries to add a second character with full body, I treat that full bodied character as the primary. Additional Character Costs is +$5 per character.
Large Group Shot: This includes four or more characters in the image. Because each character gets significantly less detailing per individual due to space constraints, the cost is only an additional $10
Adult Content: Anything of a sexual nature that basically can't be added to most sites or a portfolio garners a $5 charge. This fee is occasionally waved and does not include basic nudity and the like. This charge refers to anything suggestive or explicit. Ask me about this in your note for more details.

Sketch Commissions?
Posted 15 years agoSo due to the various money problems I have had that were discussed in the last journal entry, I have fallen behind on numerous bills. I am in a bit of a bind here on things, so against what's probably my better judgment I'm checking to see if there is anyone who would be interested in sketch commissions. These would be sketches only, but you would have my complete permission to reserve color work for later from either myself or any other artist of your choice. I really have no idea if there's anyone who would be interested in such a thing but please comment to let me know, or send me a note. Prices are listed below.

Posted 15 years agoSo I'm back from the East coast and boy did things not go at all as planned. I apologize to anyone expecting things of me over the last two weeks but it came to my attention that my old apartment that I was subletting in Boston had become a liability.
Basically I sublet to two people there, or did rather. One of them is great, used to be my room mate, and hella fuckin responsible. She was even willing to take a bunch of the furniture from the place ff my hands when she left which was awesome of her. The other....well he was the problem.
I'd been hearing things about him getting ready to skip town, not pay me the last month's rent which was a month over due and basically sticking me with a hefty cleaning bill. After some number crunching I figured it would be cheaper and easier on me to get out there and take care of business in person rather than have to worry with a cleaning bill this guy would stick me with...but man oh man did I have no idea what I was getting in to.
I get there and half the place is trashed. The girl's half is clean as hell, as always, and she even kept other parts clean and tidy too like the kitchen and bathroom. But HIS part was a disaster. I was cleaning the thing for three days straight throwing out old food, old packages, and various other things that weren't mine from when I lived there. Not only was I trying to avoid a cleaning bill in the (likely event) that he skipped town but also to recover what was left of mine that I had been keeping in a storage closet there.
The guy wasn't even there most of the time, he'd give me this shit about work, but typically a shift that starts at 11 doesn't end at 3...AM. I had to also take care of things around town as well, mainly with my bank and my old school before I transferred to the new one.
So far I've told you mostly the expected stuff, so now here's where it gets ugly. And I mean Great aunt Myrtle ugly.
I asked him at one point on the phone if he knew anyone interested in the big screen LCD TV there, I was moving to the west coast afterall and transporting it would just result in a broken TV I'm sure. He said he knew someone, I gave him my bottom most price and told him if his friend wanted it thats what I wanted for it. Just $200 for a TV that was maybe a year and a half old and purchased for $500. So, I get there, TV's gone, and yet he doesn't have the money for me.
In addition to the TV Being gone, the monitor for the computer I had left there was also gone. The wireless card was gutted from the computer as well with the excuse that it was "broken" and then the router was literally broken like it had been dropped. The scanner that was there had it's top -snapped off-.
Now here's some real shit right here. The guy was over due on his rent to me by a month, and it's the last month. Well I've been tolerant hearing every excuse under the sun as to why he couldn't make the rent. I mean...shit happens right? Happens to me so I understand when it happens to other people. But as I'm cleaning this guys room I find that in place of the old monitor he has a new High Def Monitor. One I had been looking at not too long before I went out there in fact. (When asked bout the old monitor he said he let a friend borrow it) And then I find a box for the version of the iPhone that just came out sitting right on his desk. The monitor was something like 399 when I saw it at best buy (and hell the box was right there, he JUST got it) and the iPhone 4 is ...what? 200 bucks? So that's 600 dollars I KNOW he spent in the last month instead of paying me my god damn rent. The rent was only 500 because I was still covering part of it!
Amidst his belongings are also various bank papers, and by the looks of it he had just recently acquired a new bank account, though I was unsure of what to make of that. The one he had been paying me from was his old one, with the same bank that I have.
Finally I pin this son of a bitch down to get the money not only for the rent but the TV as well. Mind you he had come home drunk with his friends at 3 in the morning so I got NO sleep that night when the next day I had to take all my stuff out of the apartment and move it to my Aunt's in MAINE. Those of you not familiar with these places, Boston MA to Lewiston ME is about 3 hours depending on who you're driving with.
Well I get all my shit out with the help of a friend from Boston that morning, don't have enough room to take it all, and end up just leaving a bunch of it to him. I get all the way up to Maine and in my time there hit up the home location of my bank to cash/deposit the checks because I basically NEED them for bills and for sending my shit back to the West coast where I now reside. Both checks are no good. I ping the hell out of him on facebook and by phone, he finally sends ONE message back to me saying he'll have the money on tuesday....day before I leave. I try again on tuesday and guess what? No money in the account. The lady uses those exact words with me "There's no money in this account."
He fucked me. Royally. So now I'm sitting there with all this stuff I have to leave at my aunt's because I don't have the money to send it back. I don't have the money to pay back my cousin who helped me get out there to handle this in the first place, and I don't have the money to cover bills.
So yes, to those of you who have been expecting work from me, I apologize for not having it done yet. I'm working on it, but at the same time I'm trying to figure out a way to recoup my losses which if I were to get nitpicky and total it up likely top over a grand on this one. I suppose I could do the court thing, but then that would require me to travel back out to boston wouldn't it? Something I don't have the money for.
Again, I'm truly sorry to those who feel like I've dropped the ball on this one, but I felt you were all owed an explanation as to what the hell was going on.

I'm New
Posted 15 years agoSo I thought I'd say hello to all the people stopping by my page and to those who already have and already added me to their watch list. I do have to add though, wow. Simply wow. I had for a long time debated joining FA on the sole basis that I didn't know if I'd fit in all that well. You may notice that I don't do a lot of Anthro art, and this isn't because I have any love loss for the genre but more that I'm simply not skilled with it at all. That being said I wasn't sure this was the place for me. Some convincing from my friends Steveman, AbyssalScribe, and Blackwalker however finally got me to work up the nerve and share.
So a little about me might be cool for some people.
I go by the name Renezuo like... everywhere. You can find me both on HF and dA, and I used to (for a short time) work as a moderator at the now gone hA, which I took great pride in. It was there that I learned not to be so secretive about some aspects of my art and to actually put my "Guilty Pleasure" of Futanari out there for other people to see...which eventually lead me on to join the boards over at FP.
While I do fanart, I like to gravitate to the original characters more often than not, and I really have fun coming up with my own character races and getting involved with the originals of other people. I do commissions, and I have a few of them still open on dA and HF for the moment, though I won't be opening any here just yet until I get a sure vibe that it's the kind of thing the folks here would be interested in.
I'm in school for animation. And I generally hate it. Mostly because I like to do a lot of the design aspects of things that would go with it such as character design, layouts, storyboarding and the like....and really I spend most of my time drawing things frame by frame. Don't expect to see a lot if any of my animation work here. I don't think it sucks but most of the assignments leave me with a bad taste in my mouth.
I've been drawing since the age of two, revised my style numerous times, and been working in Photoshop since my second year of high school. I am an RPG fiend, not just electronic but table top as well. I've played the oldies but goodies and many of the new games, and still I manage to hear of new games fairly regularly that I've never managed to play. I have a absolute LOVE for text based RPing through messengers, a medium and style which I feel is more or less going the way of the Dino as of late.
I am open to people messaging me on the contact points I have provided in my profile, I like meeting new people, and I hope that no one decides to abuse those contact points. It'd be a shame to have to block people.
Other than that I can't think of anything, even if I'm sure there are other things to mention....so if anyone has comments or questions just lemme know!
