Why I Read Furry Books
Posted 9 years ago edit: repost after initial take down because of nerves.
Why I read furry books.
This is a question I ask myself a lot and I always struggle to define how to properly explain it. It's also been a question I've wanted to explain when people ask me why the animal people.
Then today it clicked when I saw this tweet (https://twitter.com/GeorgeSquares/s.....99030043082752) from George Squares.
That furry is experienced writing about the sexuality of queer men.
Now to me I comparing this to typical 'Gay Fiction' at least as I perceive it.
For me personally I read gay furry books because I can relate with them a lot and most importantly the characters are normal and make me feel normal. When I read these stories it's a pleasant reminder that I am normal. Now this isn't to say I don't feel normal, I like to think I'm pretty socially adjusted or whatever but that sense of being different, of being gay, I think will probably be with me my entire life.
So I should say that I haven't really read any atypical Gay Fiction. I've looked a little here and there but the stories I find through searching, top sellers are either raw sex filled erotic books or harrowing/uplifting tales of survival. There isn't anything wrong with this and I probably should read them but looking at them, imaging the story they tell just doesn't make me fell normal.
One example is this award winning title Holding the Man by Timothy Conigrave, which is a memoir of his life growing up. It sounded really cool, I read up on it a bit and gave the synopsis a skim and decided against it because while being an awesome account I knew it wouldn't make me happy to read. It would just make me feel different.
Then with the few gay erotic stories I've read they all left me feeling either broken or inadequte. Like why don't I get this turned on or aroused by guys, that kind of thing or just inwardly upset that bottoming isn't as wholly pleasant as the character is conveying.
None of this I really get with furry. Which I suppose I'll just go into examples.
Lee (Wiley Farrel) from Kyell Golds Out of Position series taught me back in 2010 that it was normal to say the wrong thing and stress and fret constantly worrying about things. Thinking a million better things to say now the moment is gone. That regret is normal. That feeling different to how I'm saying is normal. Which I suppose in hindsight is all a bit weird but it's kind of a hard thing to broach in conversation with someone but here I found it a story with a character that was gay like me.
Now to say something really personal here. I find myself going back to the Dev & Lee series when I'm plagued with these doubts and thoughts and find a lot of comforting in reading segments or chapters of Lee and knowing I'm not alone.
Meg from Kyell Golds Black Angel showed me last year that I was normal in being unsure and indecisive. That I should do things and do them according to me. That it was normal to be different with sex and sexual comfortability. In her character I found a lot I could relate with her and my, then current position in and life.
Mind you this isn't mentioning the numerous furry stories that just reinforced in their own special way that being gay or and spectrum of LGBTQ is normal. That we're still people.
For that I love the whole medium and fandom. That at the end of the day I can open a book or a file and read through and smile and feel warmer at the little things like, 'he's gay and he thinks that guy is cute' or 'he's gay and just wants a nice dinner with his partner' or 'she's gay and she just wants to play a board game with her girlfriend.'
Sex is hot but a lot of the time I just want a story with gay characters without it.
Also I wasn't sure where to fit this in by Kyell Golds essay in Furries Among Us (Thurston Howl Publications) also sums up my feelings.

(K)inktober Challenge
Posted 9 years agoFirst off a huge thank you! Goes out to
jeevestheroo for coming up with the writing challenge. Check out his journal herehttp://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7849826/
So basically the main gist of Kinktober is for each of the 31 Days of October you write a short flash fiction (roughly 1000 words) piece based around a list of different kinks.
Now I'll also be following the structural rules Zia has sent out in his journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journals/nuwisha55/). They are as follows.
1) Credit Jeeves for the original idea
2) Each story much be roughly 1000 words but can exceed that amount if you like
3) Draw from the Basic List Jeeves created but you may change up to 7 of the kinks to ones you’d prefer or feel more comfortable with but there can be NO repeats.
4) Due to the lateness of this program this year (its almost the 6th) this challenge can go into November and you get two skip days because of the short notice and lack of time to plan.
5) Reorder the list as you see fit BUT once posted you do not get to change the order
6) Have fun and repost
Also consider checking out Jeeves Patreon @ www.patreon.com/jeevestheroo
So personally I don't know if I'll be posting anything since I'm mostly using this as a driving force to write something everyday and these are for the most part going to rough drafts.
Anyway here's my list:
1. Plushophilia
2. Anal
3. Bukkake
4. Tentacles
5. Femdom
6. Double Penetration
7. Bondage

Library Catalogue
Posted 9 years agoHey guys, I threw together a catalogue of my bookshelf. So if you're wondering what I have or you want to suggest something specific to do a video on check it out and let me know.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet.....it?usp=sharing
Now it is just my furry stuff and the years might be wrong on some titles. Also for anthologies I put the editor down as the author.

New Videos
Posted 9 years agoHey guys I keep forgetting to cross post here.
So I've done a few videos over the past few weeks they are as follows:
Furry Publishers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpniVpw5DAE
I give a rundown of the different publishers and what it's like from ordering from them as well as their flagships titles.
Iolite League Timeline [Spoilers] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmHb_JStpnM
This was a lot of fun to do. If you haven't read or heard of the series probably avoid it since its mega spoliery.
Roar and Fang v1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANSmZN8bqC8
Two long time running anthology that had some pretty weird and great stories to begin with.
Furplanet Unboxing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-Mn4tlZpOI
Anthrocon New Releases - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn47BMi7yHE
A news orientated series I am really interested in doing more often.

I'm doing a book discussion panel at FurDu.
Posted 9 years agoHey guys
I'm really excited about this first off.
So yeah I'll be running a panel on the Sunday of FurDu 1 to 2pm and it'll be a mostly broad topic about furry books. I plan on just talking about what books people can read to get into the fandom published works and authors and a lot of the stories that aren't too well know but super cool.
I'll mostly be winging it but I'll have a few notes and I will bring up a few books to show off. It'll also be my first time doing anything like it but I feel confident I can talk and interact about it for an hour.
Hell if not just come watch me talk abouy how old Arkady from the Ioilite League is.
Other than that I will be at the con for the full duration. So hit me up ^^

I do love the book series and the book but lord do I think it's over done sometimes XD.
On a side note the next video I won't be doing a Kyell Gold book and it will be a book series I am extremely fond of.

Brief History: Heathen City
Posted 9 years agoHey all.
I was originally planning for the longest time to do a review on Heathen City because they're so awesome! Though when I did some quick research and link checking I found that it's out of print and you can't but it anymore, so I didn't feel right talking about how great it is if you can't get it.
Anyway check it out here: https://youtu.be/pcAbUVd8qQs
It's short and too the point.
Cheers Reyfar

Another Book Review: Exposure by Tagenar
Posted 9 years agoI forgot to cross post this hear as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2CAjOlhy-g
Hopefully this gets more views because it is a really hot novella and deserves a lot more attention, plus I did really enjoy talking about it. I would prefer to cover more and more furry books that aren't as widely well known as well as some of the old classics like FANG.
In terms of production quality I'm getting of my fuzzy butt and looking at adding some proper thumbnails and ordering a real mic this week as well as cleaning and organizing my social presence. I was also planning on adding product reviews to the publishers store pages, because I have noticed a lot of them don't have any!
Oh also if there is something anyone would like to hear about let me know I'd be pretty keen on taking requests as well.
Anyway I am getting more and more excited that people enjoy what I have to say because I do really love to talk about furry fiction. Just as long as I can stop playing Dark Souls...

Watch me talk about Books
Posted 10 years agoSo I've been milling about with the idea of doing a series where I talk about books I've read and anything interesting I heard about them along the way. I've got three video's up right now and while I've probably got a way's to go I at least thought that turned out all right that I'll keep doing them. Generally I plan to keep them unscripted, kind of discussions and not really any form of focused review.
That's mostly it, I'm looking at least doing one a week wherein I'll have read something in that week, but I may copout and talk about something I can still remember well enough. Anyway the links below.
