Radx262018: Anniversaries, Fursuits and All That
Posted 8 years agoHello there! It's 2018! Sorry I took so long to post a journal after the holidays. You know how this is. My online presence is quite limited during the end of December. Every frickin' year.
Anyways, 2017 was a year of stuff happening. Went to a couple cons, got myself a bunch of boots, got my Facebook account obliterated, bought myself some games, played a few of those games, got myself a cool new computer, Nintendo Switch totally happened, I graduated college, spent a whole month in the US, made some new friends, bought a ton of stuff, and the highlight of the year...
I got a Rick fursuit!
That's right! Rick has finally been made as a fursuit! And he looks great!
Considering this is the first (serious) attempt of my bud
KonanWolfpard at making a fursuit head, I'd say it's rather good! Can't wait to have many adventures with him, going places and cons, spreading the love for boots everywhere!
(I actually first debuted Rick in Furpocalypse 2017, but it was a fairly low-key reveal. Even then, children in Halloween loved him! It was my first Halloween in the US and I got to hand out candy! Super fun.)

Furpocalypse, Fursuit Stuff and Shout-Outs!
Posted 8 years agoSorry for the terrible favorite/comment spam, but I've been trying to recover from Internet withdrawal for the last couple of days. A bunch of stuff just built up after I took a 10-day break in order to spend time with some good friends and my mate, as well as going to Furpocalypse 2017.
There isn't much to summarize, really. It's a fairly small con, lots of furries all around, got to play Werewolf once more, saw some furries I didn't even know were there...
Oh, and I low key debuted Rick as a fursuit there. That's right. Rick is now a fursuit, sort of.
Back in July of this year, I began gathering materials in order to begin working on a fursuit of my own.
In fact, the creator was not me, it was KonanWolfpard. I have mentioned this fellow a couple of times before (he has helped me with some art and come up with some seriously cool props), but only now he has gotten himself a FurAffinity account! I've gone and retroactively credited in the things above. You should go and check him out!
Going back to the Rick fursuit, he's still a work-in-progress. He's currently just a head with need of some work, a pair of very fluffy arms in need of shaving, and a tail. We need some more time before I properly show him off.

Posted 8 years agoHey there, sorry about that thing. You know I can't resist a good April 1st hijink-fest. FYI, I do love orcs. I REALLY DO. And Kurjar is actually a character I came up with after an improvised Halloween costume that I liked very much.
Anyhoo, last weekend I had the fortune of going to Texas Furry Fiesta, at the InterContinental Dallas! First time going to that one!
Aaand apparently the last time they are hosting it there, bummer. But I was pleasingly surprised to learn that the new hotel is the one where I first met up with
zhane3! I do plan on going back next year!
Sooo, highlights! Let's see!
I did fursuit as Fox McCloud. Like, A LOT. I fursuited from Friday to Sunday. And it was terrible as always, haha. I still can't get used to doing that!
I bumped into Ayano Harumaki, the famous Krystal fursuiter, and she was super glad to take photos with me (in fact, the crowd loved seeing us together)!

We were even on the Fursuit Parade together!
Regarding furs, I was able to meet the awesome
wikiwarrior and we had a little bit of silly, rubbery fun together! Also, I got to meet several new furs with *ahem* shared interests. Hopefully something will come out out of that!
I got to play Bedfellows FRENZY right there, and I bought a copy of the game on sale (along with a couple of cute Sheen/Fatigue talking plush balls)! I also got the regular con swag like T-shirts and misc. stuff. Zain for some reason bought a lamp at the auction, hehe! I did win a tail at the same auction too! A cute otter tail!
Oooh, also! I got my copy of Blast Radius signed by THE Pepper Coyote himself, after being in his concert (and after bumping into him by "accident")! That was super fun!
The highlight of the con has to be the fact that I got to play Werewolf for the first time in my life. I didn't know what I was getting into, I thought it was just some silly con game, but DAYUM. I didn't expect to become addicted to that thing. I watched a bit on Thursday and Saturday, but the moment I got to play on Sunday...well...let's say I arrived at 8:30 PM and I left at roughly 2 AM...hah!
All in all, lots of fun all around! Now I get to spend some time with Zain at his place! And man, I'm eating like it's nobody's business!
P.S.: Playing Breath of the Wild, this is my kind of game. IT HAS COOKING AND MEANINGLESS ITEM COLLECTING YASSS.

Just in case anyone asks, I ain't unemployed. I got a secure position at the university, not as a teacher, but related.
Being done with very stressing school matters means I get to work on my hobbies and pending matters full time!
Also, it's been two weeks since MFF! Wow! That was something!
I got to hang out with some furries and friends!
Got to wear my Fox McCloud partial fursuit (and met THE Fredryk Phox, creator of A Fox in Space, who really loved my suit)!
I posed for tons of photos!
I participated in the Fursuit Games!
I went to some panels (kind of)!
I went to the raves (kind of)!
Got to do crazy things all around!
Bought some not-very-crazy things!
(If anybody got photos of Fox McCloud at MFF2016, please direct me to them! I'd love to see them!)

Hevisaurus and YOU!
Posted 9 years agoSo, you might have noticed the drawing I just posted! It's Rick and a weird dinosaur guy...that dinosaur guy is (supposed to be) Herra Hevisaurus, the lead singer of the Finnish heavy metal band Hevisaurus!
Now...you might have noticed how I hadn't posted a drawing of my own in a while, settling instead for a barrage of commissions and art drawn by other artists. Well...I've have been extremely slow on drawing. To be honest, I haven't gotten any good inspiration in a while. The last actual drawing I posted was the one I made for Zain over a year ago for his birthday.
You might have noticed the pattern. Only stuff I get really passionate about is strong enough to help me break through an art block. And boy...am I passionate about this band of scanidnavian guys in dinosaur costumes playing music for children.
The band is made up by five dinosaurs (well, four dinosaurs and a dragon) who hatched from metal eggs on the mountain after some witches did...stuff. Pretty standard metal lore. We have Riffi Raffi, the guitarist...Komppi Momppi, the drummer...Muffi Puffi, the bassist...Milli Pilli, the keyboardist...and Herra Hevisaurus (translated as Mr. Hevisaurus), the singer. Up to date, they have released 7 albums, 91 tracks in total. Their music isn't the kind that tries to teach kids lessons or stuff, but instead promotes fun and basically doing whatever the heck you want. The topics they touch on are all over the place, and some of their songs are even covers of traditional music from Finland, made awesome. The give concerts fairly often, and I make sure to look up anything about them on YouTube almost daily. Heck, they got so big in Finland, they even got their own movie last year!
Now, why am I here advertising this band as if I was getting paid for it? Well...I just think they are something special. In my entire life, whenever I get asked who is my favorite singer or favorite band...I was never able to answer. I gave pretty vague answers, but I was never fully convinced. It feels like these guys came to fill in that empty spot. For me, it's like they were missing from my life for too long.
I've gone full fan. I bought 6 of their discs (imported directly from Finland), got a plushie of the singer (agh, still looking for the other plushies), and I'm about to get a DVD of the movie. All I need is to go to one of their concerts. Only then I'll be truly happy.
I decided to share this here because...furries. I would say this thing could appeal to furries (if not scalies) really well. It's anthropomorphic dinosaurs (and a dragon) playing music and being wild! What's not to like? I've noticed some pieces of art here in FA, but not as many as I would like to see. So, I'm trying to spread word of this somewhat unknown phenomenon in order to change this. I already did my contribution with that drawing, and I hope that in the future there's more!
Here I'll include a video where I think they explain things pretty well. Herra Hevisaurus himself even makes an appearance! Apparently, he can speak English just fine!
