Quick Update! COMMISSIONS!
Posted 9 years agoAs of 8/5, I have quit all other endeavors (jobs, etc) to focus on making fursuits full time. You can see my progress on Trello: https://trello.com/b/cEDjidfe (Still adding commissions there)
I hope to have 2-4 fursuits completed per month. I overloaded myself with commissions and have gotten very behind. I had hoped with a "proper" job that I could pay back my commissioners, but I made nowhere enough. My job also showed me how much I would rather make suits. So, I am newly motivated and determined to complete ALL CURRENT COMMISSIONS within 6 months. Please message me on Telegram (@rioichi4) if you have any new requests about your suit, otherwise please check Trello for suit updates. As soon as I complete stuff, I will check it off on there.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
Also, I plan to re-start my fursuit making business after all current commissions are completed, and under a new name. I may not be using this account much anymore as well, so please do not contact me on here. Telegram is best.

Posted 9 years agoSo, this job I thought was going to be part time working a few days a week to help pay bills has me working 40 hours a week. SO. I will not have much time to work on fursuits. My panel at BLFC is GO!
Posted 9 years agoI will be running a panel at BLFC this year on Friday from 1pm to 3pm on EVERYTHING you need to know about making and maintaining a fursuit!! The first hour or so will be making the suit! I will cover literally everything from how to make the thing, different materials you can use, and where to get those materials! Then the next half hour will be on maintaining your suit! If you just want to know about maintenance, come on into the panel about 2 pm. I'll cover brushing, disinfecting, washing, etc! Yes, even brushing has some specific trips and tricks to it to make your suit look its best while making it last. The last half hour I will devote to discussion! I want to hear YOUR experiences with fursuit making! You can also ask me any questions you like. My goal is to help as many people as possible make and maintain the best suit they can!

I got a job at Walmart stocking shelves. It's just part time so I can have some steady income, but still have time to work on suits.
Hopefully I can MENTALLY HANDLE THIS JOB as previous ones my anxiety has destroyed me to the point of not being able to function. I CAN DO THIS, RIGHT?

Only ALWAYS. Tea and Rio and Milica will be there!! (Literally, I will leave my room out of suit maybe once during the entire con to look at Dealer's Den stuff. And maybe food.)

This will be my 5th furry con, 2nd BLFC.

I probably won't ever really be angry/upset. Tired, yes. And if I'm walking like I gotta get somewhere, let me get there. Besides that, I'm always pretty approachable :)
Personality Type?
Introvert with social anxiety, woo! Out of suit, I am the most awkward, "I don't wanna be here" person. In suit though:
Tea will try to cute you to death (she's evil, but for some reason her evil plans always turn out cute).
In Rio, I feel I can truly be myself and *most of my social anxiety goes away. I can actually go up and talk to people haha.
I am still discovering Milica's personality, but I'm going to try to make her super outgoing and friendly almost to the point of obnoxious ;D

Why I love Zootopia (no spoilers)

Little details like:
-When Judy Hopps puts her headphones in her ears, she actually puts them in her bunny ears, not magically stuck on the side of her head where human ears would be
-When they shine a flashlight at other animals, their eyes reflect
-They address the fact that they are different animals and treat them as such, rather than just anthropomorphic animal stand-ins for human roles.
-The city of Zootopia itself and how it is tailored to all the animals living there, with different districts for different biomes, different sized doors for different sized animals, extra tall trains/cars for giraffes, etc
-The different animals are animated differently in the way they move, like the actual animal would.
-EVERYTHING IS SO DANG CUTE
-ALL THE PUNS
-The irony in the characters, like Clawhauser being a chubby cheetah

Posted 9 years agoBecause my depressed brain is saying suicide is the answer.
I can't make fursuits anymore as a living. Three customers wanted updates today, all are severely behind schedule, and none of them are done. One wants a refund, which will mean I can't pay rent this summer when I stop getting financial aid for college. One wants their non-refundable deposit back. All of them I feel terrible about which puts me into a depression which severely slows my work. I want to quit and disappear, but I can't. I have no money to pay back commissions because it has all gone to rent or food or textbooks. I could get a normal job, but they would all still have to wait a looong time before I get enough to pay back, or I mean they could just wait for their suits, but no. (It's not like I'm taking anyone's money without ever making them a suit). But even if I did get a normal job, I probably couldn't handle it. I worked at Jack in the Box for 3 weeks and cried every day before work, and hid in the bathroom every chance I got, and made up excuses to leave because I was having mental breakdowns and severe social anxiety and didn't want my boss to see me cry. And taking a normal job would mean even less progress on fursuits.... IF I could even get a normal job, it took me 8 months of hard looking just to get Jack in the Box.
So what am I supposed to do? :/

Posted 9 years agoCOMMISSIONERS, I AM SO SORRY FOR ALL THE DELAYS.
Almost got everything moved into the new apartment!! My room is currently packed with boxes of fursuit supplies that need organizing. My bed, dresser, and shelving units are all still at my mom's, and once I get those here I can really start organizing and actually GET to the things I need to make suits. UGH.
Also, I do not currently have a running car, as my mom drove mine while I was at FC and said the transmission went out, and it was either fix the car or move into the new apartment. BUT a family member is letting me borrow their car soon! Like, within the next few days I should have it. And then I can properly go get supplies without feeling like I'm imposing upon my roommate.

things around here are going to be super busy/stressful/all over the place, so I'm letting all my commissioners know that for the next 2 weeks you will probably receive very few updates! However, once I get settled in at the new place and get my work station set up, it should be a lot more organized and things should run smoother and FASTER! WOO!!
