I'm kindasortamaybe returning to posting art on FA. I think my main gallery will still be on Weasyl, but I realize there are a lot more people on FA, and as much as I like Weasyl, I think to get more interaction with people, FA is still the best bet to do that within the context of the furry fandom.

FA was my first step into the furry fandom. And through FA, I've made tons of friends and lasting connections, gotten a little bit of recognition for my artwork, and made a ton of improvement in my art by posting and wanting to do better each time.

It's sad to see this site not only not keep up with the times and improve, but to actually change for the worse. This last distasteful (to say the least) choice they have okayed is kind of the final nail in the coffin. They made bad decisions in the past, which I haven't agreed with, and although I've never completely left the site, I slowly started caring about other outlets and furry communities more, and about FA less.

Sorry for being inactive. I have pictures from cons from a while ago that I still haven't gone through, and I apologize for that.

I'm doing really well in school. I'm planning on finishing up the studio courses required for freshmen next semester. After that, I'm excited that I'll be able to go for more specialized courses, relating to the concentration I'll be doing (photo). I'm still going part time, but even then it's a lot of work and I stay really busy.

I've mostly been inactive in the furry world. Doodling here and there, but not doing all too much. I just actually finished up a few things and I'm uploading them to my Weasyl account.

I will be using that a lot more than FA.

Started up class again this semester. But doing only one class until next semester.

Though I'm only in Photo I this year, I'm excited that I see my old Drawing I friends on campus and get to hang out with them. And now that I live a walk away, I can have them over and we can play with the cat and the snake and play Cards Against Humanity (because they have that!!) and yeah!

OH BY THE WAY I GOT A CAT. Her name is Lola.
She's lovely. <3

Did some digital work from the "fursona generator" thing and uploaded it to here and Weasyl.

I'm unsatisfied with how long it takes me to do things. I know that will come with practice, but I mean, that was a fairly simple drawing/painting and it took me FOR-FUCKING-EVER to finish... and I see artists who pump out many pieces of better-than-that quality in such a short time... I wish I was better at art. I know that just takes practice... but it's hard. I feel like my practicing won't pay off in the long run. I dunno why. But I think having an art-oriented educational life is going to be helpful in improving my skills, especially when I start taking other courses.

Ah. Welp. I dunno what else to write.

So FA:U was pretty damn great. I loved how small it was, to be honest. I liked seeing familiar faces, and meeting new, friendly people too!

I roomed with  nightlinez and  sixxxshot and they were awesome, as they always were. Lots of laughter and ganging up on Linez because why not?

Did a Walmart run (WALMART IN NJ DOES NOT HAVE BEER!) and got the BEST of the shopping carts there. And it was still shitty as fuck.

I mentioned that I met a few awesome people! Some of which are:  knottyascot/Glowsheep (got 2 badge commissions from him, which I LOVE, and yes I'll scan them later for ya),  kittengrinder (greyscale commission coming later),  spartadog (got my little clay rainbow snake from him, which I've named Stella Jr.),  cobaltthefox,  reaux and  kitsunefoxman (they finished up my adorable bandana badge from AC), and a bunch of other people.

Hung out at the Zoo with  logarthsheppy while he was very ... "hydrated" ... Met up again with  yuricrabking and got some pics in his Kingler hoodie. Ran into  runrunner who was very supportive and gave his condolences to my family situation (more on the situation later in the journal). Saw  lilbluefoxie and  landisf again, got some great pics of those two. Saw the dance competition, got some cool pics there as well! Also, I saw a little snippet of the concert on Saturday, and I wish I could've seen more.

I met  grottokraft and Angelica at the ATC swap panel, turned out they were local-ish, and going back home to the area of MA where I picked up  iko and  daigo, and they were able to get Iko and Daigo home on Monday when I couldn't do that. (I go into that reason in the next paragraph.)

So the thing that was pretty bad this weekend is that on Friday I got the call from my dad that my grandfather had passed away. This was an expected phone call, though, and I had told Iko and Daigo that I might possibly have to go be with my family and not be able to take them back home after the con. They were okay with it, and everything ended up working out when I met Krafty that night, and turns out they were going to the same town as my car-mates.

So I got the call Friday evening, and in Jewish tradition, they bury the deceased 24 hours after their passing away. However, since Friday is the day before the Sabbath, he was buried Sunday afternoon. I had to leave the convention Saturday evening and drive over to where my parents were staying (at a hotel about half an hour away, as my grandfather lived in NJ and the funeral happened to be close by to the con).

I knew that I could get that call. I did. But it hurt a lot. And there was a lot of crying, and lots of memories and shared stories at the funeral and burial. He was the only grandparent I ever grew up knowing. My mom's dad died of ALS when he was still relatively young. My dad's mom died when I was maybe 1 year old. My mom's mom died when I was 4 or 5. And so the grandparent I always had throughout my whole life, the one who was independent and smart and amazing, who went into work to consult at the law firm he worked for EVEN INTO HIS MID-EIGHTIES by riding the train every day from Long Island to NYC... I couldn't believe he would ever die. He would come up to NH growing up and stay in the "Grandpa Suite" above the garage of my parents' house. I would be taught by him how to make the best of silly faces. I would watch mom and him play Upwords (basically 3D Scrabble). We would have so much great fun. All my life, he was the one grandparent I knew.

But recently his health had been very poor, and his body was failing. He went very peacefully, I hear. He was made very comfortable during his last hospital stay, and I knew he might not last the weekend even before I set sail to NJ.

This weekend was such a mix of greatness and sadness. So positive to be around people most of the weekend who were super supportive and helpful and friendly and amazing. It was great to do a little art (got to use  belledraco's Copics which I missed so much)! Then the sad news... wasn't so great. But he lived a long, successful, VERY loving life! He was 93 years old.

I might edit this journal if there's anybody I forgot to mention or anything I forgot to say.

But overall, it was a weekend that had some wonderful, positive stuff, and some sad, life-changing stuff. Things. Yes.

Hey all!

I've been pretty quiet around The Furry World as of late, and I'm hoping to change that soon.

The Move has been going pretty well. Blarm just got the rest of her stuff over, I *finally* have my computer set up, and things are settling down. We still need a couch haha. But things are getting there.

I'm very much enjoying living away from my childhood home again. I wasn't functioning very well when I was living there.

Next year, I want to go to FWA maybe??? I want to also go to a west coast convention, because I've never been west of Chicago, and I'd love to attend RMFC or RF. Since hardly anybody was going to be able to make it to the June 15 drive-in meet because of Father's Day, I've decided to reschedule this meet to June 21.

So here is what's up! :D

This is the official journal about the Milford NH Drive-In movie meet for How To Train Your Dragon 2 (and whatever other movie is playing along with it that night).

The meet will be at around 7:30 PM on Saturday, June 21.

We will be getting there that early (even though shows don't start until dusk, and sunset is at around 8:30 that evening) so we can all find each other and find places to park, socialize, and get snacks and such.

The following is info about the drive-in, and I've copied and pasted it from my previous journal asking everyone about availability.

- It is $25 per car for 2 movies.
You may leave halfway through, but there is no free re-entry.

- If your car has more than 6 people, it's $5 extra per person.
(Though if we arrange it correctly, and disperse people throughout cars evenly, we probably won't run into this.)

- The best way to go is obviously to carpool, to get the best value for each person.

- You can bring your own food and drinks (though they do not allow alcohol beverages or grilling food), or buy food from the refreshment stand, which actually has better prices than regular movie theaters concession stands.
I normally bring a cooler full of ice, waters, sodas, and juice, and buy chicken tenders and fries from the refreshment stand.

- The movies start at around sunset (which will be at 8:20-ish that weekend).
I always try to get there early to find a good spot to park my car. I'd suggest everybody try to be there around 7:30 PM so we can mingle beforehand and make sure we can all find each other.

- The second movie usually ends around 1AM (at least in my experience in going there).

- I'm not sure if this venue will be fursuit-friendly, however I'm guessing they're fine with it since it's outdoors. (And maybe even a good idea, since fursuits are nice and warm, and this is at night! XD)
When it gets closer to the meet, I'll call up and ask if they're okay with face-covering costumes.

I just heard back from the drive-in.
Costumes ARE ALLOWED. Feel free to fursuit! :D

The following is info about the drive-in, and I've copied and pasted it from my previous journal asking everyone about availability.

- It is $25 per car for 2 movies. I don't know what the other movie will be.
You may leave halfway through, but there is no free re-entry.

- If your car has more than 6 people, it's $5 extra per person.
(Though if we arrange it correctly, and disperse people throughout cars evenly, we probably won't run into this.)

- The best way to go is obviously to carpool, to get the best value for each person.

- You can bring your own food and drinks (though they do not allow alcohol beverages or grilling food), or buy food from the refreshment stand, which actually has better prices than regular movie theaters concession stands.
I normally bring a cooler full of ice, waters, sodas, and juice, and buy chicken tenders and fries from the refreshment stand.

- The movies start at around sunset (which will be at 8:20-ish that weekend).
I always try to get there early to find a good spot to park my car. I'd suggest everybody try to be there around 7:30 PM so we can mingle beforehand and make sure we can all find each other.

- The second movie usually ends around 1AM (at least in my experience in going there).

- I'm not sure if this venue will be fursuit-friendly, however I'm guessing they're fine with it since it's outdoors. (And maybe even a good idea, since fursuits are nice and warm, and this is at night! XD)
When it gets closer to the meet, I'll call up and ask if they're okay with face-covering costumes.

I'm going to email the place tonight or tomorrow about fursuits and if they'd be okay with that.
Could someone maybe help me word an email asking that?
I don't know how to do that, and I don't know if I should explain too far in-depth or anything. I've never had to be an ambassador for furries before, heh.
