The fandom has lost another one of its old guard. I found out from Facebook that Taral Wayne, aka  saara has passed away. He was involved in Fandom for the longest time, and I'd seen his work in science fiction fanzines long before I'd ever heard of furry. I'd never met him in person, but if you're a Canadian fan of a certain age, his work could be seen frequently in the fanzines of the day.

He was one of the first people in the fandom I had regualar correspondence with. We didn't always see eye to eye on things, but I always respected his opinion in matters of art, and frequently sought his counsel. He also helped get me started in digital art and 3D modeling. He will be missed.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away today, and whatever you think of the institution, she has been a constant presence for longer than most people have been alive, and it will lake some getting used to, especially. for those of us in the Commonwealth. She brought credit to her position, and hopefully her son will continue to do so. Even if he doesn't there is a vast mechanism in place to limit the damage.

The Elizabethan Age is over. If nothing else, the reign of Charles III should be interesting.

Charles Melville succumbed to cancer today. He played a big part in the early days of furry publishing, He worked for Mu Press, and with EdVick created the furry shared world The Furkindred. He was also edited numerous furry works such as Zu, and the Fangs of Ka'ath.
