That's right! There will be a costume contest held at the event and RMFC is offering the following items as prizes for the winners:

RMFC and Geo Need Your Help!

As many of you may know, the convention's mascot has been a Mountain Lion named Geo since it was founded in 2007. His likeness is featured on all of our conbooks and promotional materials each year.
With our expanding online presence and to give our mascot more of a personality as the face of RMFC, we would like to give Geo a last name. However, since Geo represents the convention as a whole, we thought it would be a good idea if everyone had a hand in deciding what that name should be!
Here's how we determine Geo's last name:
We would like to keep the name either an earthy or feline themed name, so any names submitted should fit within those guidelines
Please do not reply to this post with your suggestions. Instead, send them via e-mail to Spikester at socialmedia[at]rockymountainfurcon.org with the subject line "Geo Last Name Suggestions".
If you have more than one name to suggest, that is fine. Try to include them all in one message. Do not forget to include your fur name as well!
All submissions are due by September 26th.

Open Staff Positions at RMFC
Posted 11 years agoHi everyone! I wanted to announce some open positions on our staff list that we would like to fill in preparation for next year's convention (yes, already!) Here they are:
Lead Graphic Designer: Reports directly to the Director of Marketing. the Lead Designer will be responsible for spearheading the layout for the convention book, pocket schedule, advertisements, posters, and miscellaneous other projects throughout the year. There is a mandatory requirement for experience in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, with basic knowledge of print design. Bonus points if you have a portfolio. If you think you quality, and would like to join us, please send an email to:

Social Media Manager: Reports directly to the Director of Marketing. The Social Media Manager is responsible for juggling the convention’s online presence. It will be this individual’s responsibility to regularly monitor and update various accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Furaffinity, and YouTube among others. Manager must be consistently accessible with a reliable internet connection. If interested, please send an email to:

NOTE: In your email, please send (for lack of a better term) a cover letter describing your personality, skills, relevant experience, and the reason you believe you are qualified for this staff position. It doesn't have to be any more than 2 or 3 paragraphs. We just want to have a good feel for your command of the English language, and an example of your online personality.
Operations Staff: Reports to Operations Director. Operations needs committed individuals to help run vital functions of the convention including security, panel supervision, staff & volunteer scheduling, event setup & breakdown, among other things. Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2014 is over…

Hey everyone! It’s EagleTheCheetah, your new Director of Marketing! I just wanted to take some time to thank you all for making RMFC 2014 the successful, amazing convention that it was. While our hard-working staff build the foundation for fun every year, ultimately it is you, our attendees, who make it a blast. I wanted to share some numbers from 2014, as we really climbed some high peaks this year. Because of you, we grew by an unfathomable 35%—our largest increase since 2008. We had 303 fursuiters, compared to 200 last year. Through our charity auctions, casino night, and donations, we raised an incredible $5,000 for our charity, Freedom Service Dogs. Beyond that, your participation has solidified RMFC as one of the top 10 furry conventions in the world!
I would also like to thank our Guests of Honor, ShinigamiGirl and whiteyfawks for participating in the festivities. I bow to our tireless staff members and volunteers who give their all to make this event as enjoyable as it is; clearly, it paid off.
On a more personal note, I also wanted to thank everyone for the incredible welcome I received during closing ceremony’s announcement. I want you all to know that I will do everything during my tenure to ensure that you all have your ideas considered. It’s one thing for a person like me to attempt to crunch numbers, look at marketing trends, and forecasts. That’s only part of it. My job is to figure out what is going to make next year’s convention even better, and in my experience, nothing is going to have a bigger impact than wading into the reservoir of creativity that is the furry fandom, and it would be foolish for us not to use that resource to its fullest potential. So with next year’s nostalgic Game Shows theme in mind, if you have any ideas whatsoever, please send them my way, at:

Two Days and counting!
Posted 11 years agoHope you're as excited as we are! Rocky Mountain starts up in full swing this Friday at the Marriott Denver Tech Center. Registration for all will be open at 8AM on Friday, however if you pre-registered.. you can check in early on Thursday between 3PM and 8PM. The event schedule has been posted on our website. Thought I'd toss out a 3 month reminder (wha?? Three months already?) for our conbook cover contest which will end on June 30th. Remember that this is the one of the most prominent features for our convention! Not only will your work be featured on the cover of our book, we'll also blow it up into a giant poster! Contest submissions should be emailed to conbook@rockymountainfurcon.org. The size requirements are on our website but:
Submissions should be of high quality, full color, and measure in at about 11" x 17" with .25 bleed on each side. Submissions should be theme-appropriate: 14ers! - Celebrating Colorado's 54 mountain peaks over 14,000 feet.
Also, we are still open for conbook submissions. If you want to feature your artwork or stories, please email them to conbook[at]rockymountainfurcon.org and if they fit the theme, we will find a use for them! We love featuring new artists and authors so don't be shy!

Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2013 RECAP
Posted 12 years agoWOW! What a killer year! Thanks to all that made Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2013: "Lucky 13" a huge success. We want to thank our guests of Honor, Idess and Midori and 2 the Ranting Gryphon. We wrapped up the convention with 1006 attendees (a 15% increase over previous years), 190 fursuiters in the parade, 55 Dealers and.....$3588.09 raised for our charity, Freedom Service Dogs!!
On a side note, our 2014 website is up and running and looks freaking amazing! The art was done by our 2014 Artist GOH ShinigamiGirl (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/shinigamigirl/) and the layout was done by my awesome web designer, Maho!

Posted 12 years agoYup! One more week now! Rocky Mountain Fur Con will kick off Friday (Aug 2nd) with the opening of Registration at 8AM. If you pre-registered, you'll be able to check in Thursday between 3:30pm and 8:00pm.
Oh, and we will be doing Fursuit Tagging again this year! 100 red tags will be handed out to those doing cool stuffs in suit, and 18 purple Director Choice tags will be handed out to those fursuiters doing amazing things in suit! Keep an eye out for staffers with tags around their necks!

Posted 12 years agoWHEW! What a slacker I am! So sorry for not updating this sooner! Rocky Mountain Fur Con is less than two months away now. In case you haven't heard, our theme is Lucky 13, focusing on the vintage casino life of the 1950s! It will be held on August 2-4 at the Denver Doubletree Hotel. Pre-registration will close on July 1st at Midnight so it's probably a good idea to get that done! :)

That means after 11:59PM on Tuesday, July 31 pre-registration will be closed on our website. All registrations must be received and paid for by this date. Rocky Mountain Fur Con is joining forces with the organizers to provide free transportation to and fron the club! A regular bus will be running back and forth between the club and the hotel! Details/Deadline: Submissions will be accepted between now and June 10th. The winner will be announced on Friday, June 15. The winning artist will have their artwork prominently displayed as our conbook cover. In addition, the winner will also receive a Sponsor Level Membership to RMFC 2013! Runner-ups will have portions of their artwork displayed throughout the conbook, and in-full as a thumbnail on a Submissions page. Size/Format/Content Requirements: The conbook cover is 7 1/2 x 20 inches, basically two standard 8.5 x 11 pages side by side. Your design should be able to fit that size. Because our conbook cover is printed in full color, we'd prefer that your submission also be in color. Submissions should be of high print quality, in PDF or TIF format. The artist has full discretion as far as content, as long as it can be tied to the theme (however loosely) "Furry Apocalypse!" Please keep your work PG-13. Submissions should be emailed to conbook[at]rockymountainfurcon.org with 2012 Conbook Cover Contest in the subject.

Posted 13 years agoWell, we figured it was about time to update the page here as it is the tail end of April and Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2012 gets closer and closer. Our Guests of honor this year will be David Hopkins, creater of the online comic Jack, and Syber of Made Fur You. The theme is "Furry Apacalypse!" Yus, we know it's been done before, but we were the first to announce it way back when.. so there!
Anyway, it's already looking like it's going to be a good year!
