No PCD For This Bear
Posted 11 years agoSo it's been a damn long time since I logged on here and a damn long time since I really reconnected with the fandom. I kinda took a hiatus for a while to work on myself and my career. I wasn't exactly given a choice in the matter but when the mouse boss says your working nights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays it kinda kills your furry socialization time.
Given how long I had been gone and how busy I have been and continue to be I was not expecting to be able to spend much time at Megaplex this year. Surprisingly Sunday actually opened up and I was able to do the one day attendance thing. I didn't really expect my absence to be noticed when my hiatus started and I found when I arrived on Sunday that I was very much mistaken.
Throughout the entire day I kept bumping into people saying "Robear! Where the Hell have you been, I've been watching out for you the whole con!" I never would have expected that kind of reaction from so many different people. So I guess the meat and potatoes of this post is that I really want to say thank you to everyone. You guys made me feel so loved and welcomed.
So for me, I have no post con depression. I left the con feeling not sad but reconnected with all of my awesome friends and with the local community at large. While I'm a little bummed that I don't get to do anywhere near the amount of furry events that I used to, The fandom will always be there with open arms whenever I'm able to be a part of it. Or as another bear once said "The fandom will be here when you get back".

10 Day Confession: DAY 10
Posted 12 years agoFollow the steps, one set of confessions a day for 10 days in a row.
Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)
Day Seven: Four turn offs.
Day Eight: Three turn ons.
Day Nine: Two smileys that describe your life right now.
Day Ten: One confession
Day 10:
1. I am a new furry. A lot of the people who come into the fandom do so through Second Life, F-List, or some other online medium and tend to do it at a younger age. I found it just over a year ago via a friend of mine (Kyle) dragging me to a tuesday meet at tex mex. Through that I was introduced to the fandom and found an awesome group of people I get along famously with and then realized that the fandom itself was something I had really been into already, just never realized it. Though there have been a lot of ups and downs since then, I am so grateful to have met all of you and to have the fandom as a part of my life.

Day 5:
This is gonna be a tough one since I try not to stay focused on the past since things have a habit of working out for the best in the long run.
1. I wish I had never been a part of the Catholic Church. I mean no ill will to Catholics and mean no insult to those who practice. But my time with the church was not healthy for me and caused me to hurt a lot of people around me. I'm deeply ashamed of that period of my life.
2. I wish I had not worked for the Kendrick Meek campaign. That killed politics for me and I often wonder if I would still be involved and where I might be had I held out for a campaign I really believed in.
3. I wish I had not gone to military school when I was in high school.
4. Though I was not in control of this decision, I wish I had not moved to Lakeland, I wish I had grown up either in Tampa or Chicago where I was born.
5. I wish when I was younger I had had a better self image and not allowed myself to think that my body was holding me back. These days I look in the mirror and am happy with what I see but it was not always that way. I wish I'd had the confidence I have now when I was younger.
6. I wish I had not majored in political science and history but rather a degree that would have been more useful after college.

1. My future with Disney, is a career there a worthy investment of my energy or should I be spending my energy elsewhere.
2. Money, do I have enough of it to sustain myself, do I have enough to make the things happen that I want to happen.
3. Saul, both how much I miss him, and how were gonna make things happen in the long run, though mostly I'm just glad to have him now.
4. The upcoming move.
5. My friends. I wonder how they are doing a lot.
6. The world, politics and what not. Ya'll knew I was a polisci nerd.
7. Death. Not in a bad way mind you, but I spend a lot of time wondering what comes after this life and what it's gonna be like. We wonder about the unknown I suppose.
So far this has been the easiest one. I spend a lot of time thinking about stuff.

1. Imma burr...
2. I'm originally from Chicago, but I barely remember enough of it for it to matter.
3. I went to FSU. Go Noles.
4. I used to work in politics before my current job.
5. I also used to be a substitute teacher, which made for some very entertaining stories.
6. My heritage consists of being part Irish and part British with just a tiny bit of Cherokee Indian.
7. I'm forgiving to a fault.
8. I'm very friendly and out going, but this is partially because I get intimidated by being in a room full of people that I don't know, so I try to get to know everyone to mitigate that.
9. I'm still pretty new to the fandom, but I feel more at home within the fandom then I do anywhere else.

Day 1:
1. I wish you wouldn't shut me out, just because I worked through my issues doesn't mean I could never understand your or that I was not once where you are now.
2. I miss you to death and September is too damned far away.
3. Your too hard on yourself, your made of win and awesome.
4. I'm glad your back in my life, and I'm proud of the person you've become.
5. 2 weeks and we will be out of this neighborhood and onto bigger and better things, stay focused on that and we'll get there.
6. You should really talk to your kid about not screaming so loud that he keeps the neighbors up at night, every single night...
7. Thank you for making my con experience an amazing one, it wouldn't have been the same without you (okay that's meant for more then one person but whatevs.)
8. Thank you for giving me good ideas.
9. You need to get out of the house more often. Socializing in real life is good for you.
10. I hope your doing alright, I'd like to see you again.
This took longer then expected. Mainly cause when I want to say something to someone I usually just say it.

Megaplex
Posted 12 years agoOMG!!! Ok so I was nervous, this being my first furry con and all but I am having more fun than I could have imagined. I don't want it to end. I'm getting cool arts, taking awesome photos, and all of my friends are there! I felt like when I was bowling I was in a room with 100 of my closest friends, even if I didn't know ya.
So... First Con... Thoughts?
Posted 12 years agoAlright guys. In a little over a week I'm gonna pop my furry con cherry at MegaPlex. Any thoughts? Cautions? Advice? I'm all ears!
New Guy (be forewarned, it's mushy)
Posted 12 years agoSo major life update. Those of you who know me well know that I swore off Long Distance Relationships a long time ago. Never ever again I said. Yeah... about that...
On Thursday I met the most wonderful man from Puerto Rico. We had been talking online for months. Terrified of the prospect of meeting each other but new it was the next step. I took him to the Disney Parks. Went to Epcot, MK, but the real winner was surprisingly Typhoon Lagoon. The park closed a couple of times due to lightning but those down times gave us a chance to really get to know each other, we made some friends in the lines, and we ate a whole sand pale of icecream together. It was during the last downtime that we made things official.
Things have happened so fast. But I feel more comfortable with this guy then anyone I've ever dated. Like we fit like a glove to one another. I honestly feel like I'm falling for him. When I took him back to the airport today I hugged him goodbye and the second I turned away tears ran down my face, and I know he cried to but we both wanted to be strong for the other and not show it.
Right now he is 1000 miles away from me and it's tough not having him next to me tonight, but I know out across the atlantic there is a man out there who loves me and that thought makes me so happy. Several men have made me cry in my life. But it's always because they did something to me. Today was the first time I ever cried because I loved someone and I was gonna miss em. I will take that bittersweet feeling over having my heart broken any day of the week.

Update on stuff with things
Posted 12 years agoIt's been a while since I wrote one of these. At least one that a decide to keep on here more then 5 minutes. I've had some major ups and downs since my last post but I'd say for the most part things are on the up. I'm doing work that I enjoy for the most part. I've gotten more in depth with the fandom, I want to actually get to obtaining a suit though that's easier said than done. And there is someone new in my life who is coming to visit me in a few weeks and I'm really really hoping it turns out well.
I've met some awesome new people at the Tuesday meet. Due to my Spanish classes I'm not getting to see the old people at TexMex anymore but don't worry I will be back soon (mid July). I may or may not have to go on hiatus from Oblivion for my next class. If this helps me get to the point where I can hold a conversation in Spanish and helps advance my career though, this will have been totally worth it.
So yeah... Life is good... miss my TexMex peeps, and my Oblivion peeps are made of win and awesome. :3

If this helps me get to the point where I can hold a conversation in Spanish and helps advance my career though, this will have been totally worth it.
So yeah... Life is good... miss my TexMex peeps, and my Oblivion peeps are made of win and awesome. :3
My Life is amazing
Posted 13 years agoSo I have to say coming to Tex Mex that first time has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has opened me up to a world of new possibilities and allowed to meet some truly amazing people. Wattsin, Flag, Jay, Shadow, Nikolai, Luvel, Kodi, Megan, and the many others who have come into my life over the last few months have all contributed to a profound change in my life. You guys from day one have made me feel so welcomed, accepted, and loved and I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done and continue to do.
When I moved to Orlando I came largely a mess having come from a crappy living situation and I was still pulling myself together after a horribly bad relationship that cost me a few close friends before everything was said and done. Since I arrived I have been able to get the wonderful job I've been looking for, the independence I had hoped for, and the friendships I could only dream of and you guys should know how much you all mean to me. Thank you :3
