Recently I posted a story about Khael. Not only is he an old and dear friend, but his finely-crafted character fascinates the hell out of me. It immediately raised some questions, though, that make me wish FA had a polling option.

Firstly, the post generated a flurry of "favorites," more so in the first 18 hours than any story I've ever posted, and they're still coming. For the graphic, instead of the usual title-card, I thought it would be fun to post a picture from VRChat that I thought would make a perfect illustration for the tale. It leads me to wonder (and I would be grateful if you would reply below) how many people who favorited the posting actually read the story, and how many were just drooling over the terminally sexy beast in the picture.

Secondly, in the description I used the phrase "in honor of Khael." People immediately jumped to the conclusion that he had died. I can assure you that he is very much alive. Dragons, like their reptilian ancestors, often go into a torpor after a particularly heavy meal, and considering our most recent romp together...well, you can forgive him for oversleeping his alarm.

But that leads me to a very depressing thought: have we reached the point where someone has to die in order to be shown respect?

I keep getting all these "This guy recommended That guy on Patreon!" emails. That's all well and good. I am glad my friend likes your stuff. But if ALL of your content is behind a paywall, then how am I to decide for myself if I want to support you?

Try having one or two examples of your best work out there for the public to see. I'm not about to drop ten bucks on the off-chance that I might like what's behind that fuzzy outline in your feed.

Had to duck out of the macro-meet. Apologies to anyone who wanted to hang out with me afterward and gnaw on some li'l people. I didn't know that the stompy-fun had been scheduled for so late in the event and I got a bit overheated. Thanks to  tienlong for helping a wolf back to his room.

Itty-bitty suggestion for next year: maybe make it a bit less long, or let big hairy wolves who can't spend lotsa time in a warm room know in advance when their paws is gonna be needed for mayhem.

Was still nice to see some of the Big Names (and tiny people with Big Names) there!

I learned last night, with a shock, that Jim Hardiman had died.

If you don't know the name of Jim Hardiman, then you should, especially if you are reading this journal. Jim was one of the earliest macrofurry artists, and he paved the way for us all.

As for me? I put in my share, but you won't likely be seeing my furry tail in the game. Rather, I intend to be pressing my nose against the window of the developers' office, reminding them that they need to include a "Kaiju vs. the city" mode. Fighting games bore me but if you add in people-stomping...well, that's a different matter.
