I’m very much here to stay - FA is my main hub and I’ve been here a long time, through a lot of ups and downs, and I have no plans on leaving.

Like someone on twitter pointed out, FA remains one of the last places where there's no algorithm, no paywall, no social media junk - just art, posted in chronological order, and easy to search through.

However with the big guy gone, the future of this place is very much unknown, and I’d like to be prepared.

So I really don’t want to but I’m not sure what else to do at this point.

The long-short of it is, my husband is having major surgery in two weeks and that has wiped out our savings. He’s gonna be in recovery for 2-3 weeks after that so he won’t be able to work and we’ll be down a paycheck or two, so we’re gonna be dangerously low on money to pay our rent/bills/groceries. Prices are going up and we’re struggling enough as it is.

I currently have three commissions left to complete but will be opening for more preemptively due to money issues. I’ll upload a submission once I open so be on the lookout for that later today!

I can only take on so many commissions at a time so I’m gonna have to swallow my pride and ask for donations as well.. Even a little bit helps and I’d be so so so very grateful for anything anyone might be able to give ;;

Gonna upload some stuff so yeah bare with me for a sec lol

Firstly I want to say thank you so much for all the support I received from the previous journal 🧡🧡🧡 I tried to respond to everyone but I’m just so very thankful and every little bit helped more than you know.

Things are progressing slowly and we’re just a little overwhelmed with all the stuff we have to find and do. We’re still waiting on documents before we can really move forward with anything. Saying it sucks would be an understatement. But there’s little we can do right now.

In other news, I’ll be opening commissions soon. I have three comms left, two of which I’m finishing up now. It’s been slow going but I’m trying my best right now. I’ll prolly only open for close-up colored sketches though - the other stuff is a little too much for me to take right now.

I hope everyone is hanging in there.

Almost five years ago my dad passed away, and this past Sunday my mom passed away too.

I think I’m more anxious and scared than anything at the moment. I don’t know. I have about six or so comms I need to finish and I need to open again ASAP to be able to afford rent/bills. My mom helped me every month and now that’s gone along with her… I don’t really know what to do or who to turn to now.

Mom handled everything when dad passed but now it’s up to me and my sister, and mom’s place is an absolute mess. We’re not sure where to look for anything. My sister’s husband is trying to help and our older brother is flying in this Friday to help as well.

I’m trying to get these last few commissions done as fast as I can but obviously things are a bit complicated right now. I’m still working on them and I will open as soon as I can, but I think I’m gonna ask for some help right now… I don’t feel good about it but I don’t know what else to do and I really need some help. I don’t even have enough to put gas in the car right now.

Big news! I’m moving to a bigger place currently so that’s all we’ve been doing for the past three days. We got a lot of stuff to move and it’s pretty exhausting. We have about a week to move out of here and clean the place up, so I haven’t gotten a chance to sit down.

With the move though I haven’t been able to work on comms. I’ve finished one commission so far, and all the close-ups are ready to be finished up, but I don’t have any time to sit down and work on them at the moment. As soon as we finish moving and cleaning and getting the internet set up at the new place I plan on jumping back into it asap.

I’m also planning on deleting my twitter accounts. I don’t know if anyone really cares or follows me or my art on there but the whole site is a dumpster fire (moreso than normal) and any time I go on it for any reason I end up doom-scrolling, so yeah. Just if anyone is wondering where it went I guess.

Honestly though it feels very much like the end of December for me, with everything being christmas for the past month pretty much everywhere. Day job is nothing but christmas decorations and trees, and turkey day was very much overshadowed by all the friggin’ christmas stuff too (TWO christmas trees in one house?? madness!). Alrighty, so I'm almost finished with this last batch of commissions (my apologies for not opening up to the public in a long-ass while orz) BUT after this last one is finished I'll be opening up for everyone! I'm only gonna open for colored sketches when I do though, beeecause;

I'm having surgery at the beginning of February (less than two weeks to go!!) and it's gonna put me out for a few weeks, and since my day job is mainly physical that means I can't really work while I recover, soo that means commissions! And like I said, I only wanna open for colored sketches, prolly mostly close-ups but maybe a full-body here and there depending on how I'm feeling.

I don't really talk much about my personal life so this is a little awkward for me lol but I'm friggin' excited guys ;3;

New job is going well and isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I actually quite like it and the people are nice, and it's not really stressful and it gets me on my feet which is a nice change from sitting in front of a computer 24/7 haha.

However it is still part-time so I'll be opening commissions soon-ish. I'm not exactly sure when but things are a little all over the place at the moment so bear with me!

Me and hltana are looking into apartments and hopefully we can find something sooner rather than later. I don't really want to open commissions if I can't work on them due to moving, but if people are comfortable with waiting a little bit then I might.

EDIT: Also! I moved all commissions into my scraps. I think I'm gonna start doing that from now on - uploading them to my main gallery and then periodically moving them into scraps. I do want to eventually start drawing personal art again and gosh there's sooo many comms haha

Soo it's been about two months. A lot has changed but a lot has stayed kind of the same too.

I'm doing better than I was, thankfully. It was a rocky fucking ride there for a while, lots of tears and heartache, but things aren't as terrible as they were. It still sucks, don't get me wrong, but I'm managing.

I'm also completely recovered from surgery, just in time to prepare for the surgery I actually planned for haha. It's still in the works but slowly but surely I'm getting there. I've been waiting for so long and you'd think I'd have more patience, but the closer it becomes a reality the more impatient and anxious I get.

I also got a job! It's only part-time but I'm hoping it'll help me get past this art burnout I've been having. I'm an artist, I draw art, and it sucks when I don't want to do it anymore. So yeah, I really hope this can help. I have no idea if I'll like it or not but I'm excited for it. Get out and do something for a change you know? Also helps that I have a friend there so I don't feel too scared about it.

And just to be clear, I'm not quitting art and I'm not closing commissions forever! I just need to do something else for a bit, and I'll more than likely be back once surgery happens (my new job is stocking and lifting things and I won't be able to do that for a while after).

I know this isn't the best update nor is it a journal for opening commissions, but thank you guys for being so patient and wonderful while I deal with these things <3

I've been dealing with some burnout the last couple months and I've mostly been working on a select few commissions during this time so I can still pay the bills, and I apologize for not opening commissions up to the public.

That said, I'm also dealing with a lot of life changing stuff recently. I'm in the process of getting things ready for a surgery I'm planning on having either later this year or early next, and it's taking longer than I had hoped it would. I'm also dealing with a bad breakup and trying to manage those feelings while living in the other bedroom (I can't afford to move out, I don't want to live with my mom, and they're still very much my best friends despite everything).

Also I dealt with a medical emergency last week and ended up getting laparoscopic surgery for appendicitis on Friday, after two days of increasing pain and then 15 hours in the ED. I usually have a high pain tolerance but this had me curled up in bed crying.. I was terrified the whole night - I've never had an emergency like this before and never had surgery beyond getting my wisdom teeth taken out over ten years ago.. Like people die from this. Luckily it didn't rupture but apparently looked bad, so I'm glad I didn't wait until morning like I was planning on..

It hurts to move, it hurts to sit, it hurts to lay down.. My body just hurts lol. But I can't sit down for hours at a time because of risk of blood-clots and I can't hold my tablet because part of it goes against my stomach (tiny desk), so I physically can't work on art right now. The doc said for at least a month I can't really do anything like housework or lifting more than 10lbs.. Not that I want to - I didn't know how much I used my stomach muscles until now. I hate feeling useless and I feel guilty having my friends take care of me, all things considered.

So yeah, lots of shit happening all at once and I can't keep up with everything. I'm sorry >:
