Well I can't PLAY all the pieces yet (duh!) because I only just now decided on the program, but I'm super excited about it and wanted to share it with all of you :)
My Senior Recital (for those of you who don't know, that's in classical piano... and this is collegiate, not High School) will include:
Gershwin's Piano arangement of Rhapsody in Blue
Three Chopin Etudes. "Butterfly" "revolutionary" and "tristesse"
William Bolcom's "Poltergeist Rag"
and... my crowd pleaser set, the pieces that will set my recital apart!
2 pieces each from the official "Piano Collections" of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X... Nerds REJOICE!
Recordings are NO substitute for hearing these pieces live, I gurantee it... Which pieces, exactly? It's a mystery... You'll have to come to the recital if you want to find out!

Howl's Moving Castle
Posted 17 years agoI just saw Howl's Moving Castle.
How you seen this movie yet? It's absolutely fucking incredible. Men like Miyazaki, Mistozuda, Higashimi (composer) are gifts to the world for their incredible storytelling, and after watching this movie, it's all I can do to simply sit here and wish that I could someday have a hand in creating the way that these men do.
On the topic of Genius.
Hideo Kojima puts Hollywood to shame with his cinematic vision (See: Metal Gear Solid 3 & 4)
Yoko Kanno's musical prowess is absolutely superhuman. She goes from hillbilly mountain music to hard rock in an instant, and her beautiful melodies easily compete with any other anime/television composer out there. (See: Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain)
Speaking of Composers, Nobuo Uematsu is the reason I try to argue with my music professors that Video Game music should be embraced by the classical community... There's only one way to describe what he is capable of: "Holy Shit."
Your thoughts?!... aaand GO

So many Butterflies
Posted 18 years agoWow.. I just stood there speechless for like 15 minutes after we were done opening gifts today.
I guess we're going to be losing a lot of money in the coming years because my mom is going into PA School... So they decided "what the hell, christmas next year is going to suck, let's spoil them."
Yeah. We asked (jokingly, mind you) for an Xbox 360. Instead we got a PS3.
But the crazy shit was that They basically bought us an audio production studio. THE ENTIRE FUCKING STUDIO.
I got the keyboard controller and Reason 3.0, plus the M-audio device. Sam got the microphones, and Josh got a 500GB external hard-drive.
So now I'm suffering a serious case of guilty butterflies.

I just got my first paying gig!
So get this, some chick that I don't even know calls me and says "I called the music school and they gave me your name... I'm looking to hire a pianist to play dinner music at my Christmas Party."
So, I talk to her a little and then she throws a number at me. I love this.
"I don't know what you usually charge, but I'm willing to pay you $100 per hour, plus an extra 100 just to come look at the piano before the party."
Oh, hell yea.
First gig, $500 dinner party. I am Sooo happy.

Life changes.
Posted 18 years agoIt's been a long time since I've felt this way.. Problem is it isn't something you can exactly put into words.
Two and a half years ago, still relatively naive and very much a shy kitty, I was taken in by Nuri... Who needed me as much as I needed her, at the time.
Like a good pet, I fell in love.
She gave me a place to finally feel wanted, arms to sleep in, somebody to hold, And she motivated me in my professional life, too. She would listen to me practice.. even on those really bad days.
I've never been closer to another human being in my entire life.
On top of love, on top of charisma, on top of motivation, she taught me discipline, she's shown me self-sacrifice, and she's shown me what real strength and what real bravery are. She has managed to find the reigns on a life that I would have been helpless in... And she knows what she wants, and how to get it. And that brings me to my point.
Nuri doesn't need me anymore.
I still love her the way that you can only love somebody once they've changed your life... But I'm not sad. Lonely, perhaps.. scared of being left behind, certainly... But not sad.
Because I fell in love with my mistress -before- I fell in love with my lover. She's stronger than I am... I think that's why I call her mistress. Right now all she wants is a pet.
And that's all I want to be.

It's interesting what you learn...
Posted 18 years agoBeing somebody who's job is to create a community from the ground up.
To listen, observe, take hits, and make friends all at the same time... and sometimes, I have to get people in trouble. That's just the way things go.
I've learned that I need to be less selfish. I want people to be happy... so I have to listen... and do everything I can to give people what they need.
I'm exercising that particular lesson right now... and... it's kinda hard.
But I think it needed to be done... and I think good will come of it.
People need to be happy. If we can't do that for one another, then the world is nothing but a business.
And that's not a world I'd like to live in.

The first was Kunicon... and it was not super cool.
However... despite the fact that there were literally less than 250 people for the entire weekend.. I had the most amazing time!
It isn't something I could explain easily. There wasn't much to do... organization wasn't fantastic, although I did volunteer and absolutely loved -that-, too... It was just the wandering around... meeting people... getting up... wandering somewhere else... meeting more people...
I made three good friends I think, got to spend the whole weekend with Nuri... got closer to the local furs (and I am so thankful for that!) ... and danced like an idiot.
hhaaaa... man. The dance. there were usually like.. less than ten people on the dance floor, ever... and times when I was the ONLY person dancing! Jumping up and down or pretending to breakdance... awesome.
... man... awesome.
Other than meeting my three good buddies, Ridley, Saucy, and Kazoo (I know their real names... but I'm quite comfortable using their fur names), the highlight of the weekend for me was the fursuit parade.
12 fursuiters paraded the 16th street mall. oh, man... it made me feel good to be there.
The reactions that they got from people ranged from "Is it some thing for kids?" to "Oh! It's that sex thing!" to "Well ya don't see that every day" to ... my favorite "look, furries!"
That last one was said by a LITTLE GIRL!!! She wasn't any taller than a baby stroller...
There's something about being surrounded by people who understand why I call myself a fur... who really understand it and think that it adds to me as a person. Just being there... being called Rune and having it feel totally normal,was awesome.
I think I LIKED that fact that it was small scale... felt like home, after 3 days.
There was a reporter there. He told us that his boss gave him the assignment like this. "You know, Furries! Like CSI!"
Well, the reporter was awesome... infact, by the time he left, he told the con chairman "I don't think I'm going to be able to be unbiased in this paper, but I'll try my best... at the very least, I know my editor is going to be very dissapointed."
in other words, he liked us, and as far as he was concerned, we had completely crushed the stereotypes.
Good.
It was a good weekend.

Posted 18 years agoI don't wanna complain, and I know this is going to fall mostly on deaf ears, because so few people watch me (only those who know me in person, and I believe mostly just to humor me. This isn't aimed at anybody who has said anything about my last two journals), but I'm sorta let down that nobody cares to take the time to comment on my submissions... Especially in regards to the most recent two.
Do you guys think that it's because people don't realize the work that went into them, or because they aren't furry?... That last one seems pretty viable, unfortunately.

Do you guys think that it's because people don't realize the work that went into them, or because they aren't furry?... That last one seems pretty viable, unfortunately.
Another question for ya, then. What sort of art ought I do to get me noticed?

Favorite classical pieces?
Posted 18 years agoIn the next couple of months, I'll be taking dvanage of my current job situation, by taking some time out of my days to record the different solo pieces that I've got in my fingertips, so that I can post my performances here, and share my music with the rest of the furry fandom.
If anybody that reads this has got a favorite classical piano piece, tell me what it is, and I'll consider learning it!
I always need new pieces anyways... and don't worry much about suggesting difficult pieces, they just might take me longer :)

Posted 18 years agoMy icon doesn't much tell you guys anything about myself, except maybe that I have stripes... and maybe that I like music.
It's a tradgedy, really.
But the REAL tradgedy today is the unfortunate fact that people can't seem to figure out that Farellemoon, one of the most talented local furs, and one of the strong individuals that have inspired me to try my hand at the drawing thing, is a WOLF!
Her style is wonderfully expressive and it is definitely most decidedly her own identifiable style.
That means that nobody should have any trouble at all recognizing her for what she is!
Farellemoon is a WOLF....and don't you forget it.

"The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things/hates about yourself" and people who get tagged MUST write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things/hates as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. 1. I'm afraid of clouds... It's very difficult to explain, but seriously, I'm afraid of clouds. I look at them, and they remind me how insignificant I am.
2. I skip steps, whenever I'm by myself, I skip steps two at a time going up as well as going down... It took me a long time to get good at going down steps twp at a time without slowing down.. it's dangerous >.<
3. I was born with an exaggerated defect in the right side of my body. The result being that my abs are lopsided, my chest is sunken... and even the little tiger between my legs tends to hang out on the right.
4. I hate the fact that I can't decide whether I'm sub or Dom. There's absolutely nothing I love more than making sure that Nuri gets what she needs... I particularly love oral >.>.. giving, I mean.
But sometimes I like to take what I want... but that means being extra careful I don't pick a bad time.
I think :(
5. I'm a professionally trained pianist.. and I can't play all my scales.
6. .... I wanna be a daddy :)

Learning
Posted 18 years agoSo... I just spent the last two hours going through the galleries of everybody on my watch list, picking out different angles, action shots, all sorts of different pictures and art styles that caught my attention, and studied.
I tore them apart in every respect except coloring (which I'll go back and do later) in order to teach myself what I'm doing wrong.
And I think it worked.
You'll see the results in the future, I just wanted to tell you all, cuz I'm sortof excited.
Hopefully it lasts.
Oh, and also... Please comment on the pictures I put up, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, and keeps me alive for another day... you wouldn't want to kill me by not commenting, would you?
