I've been neglecting my FA lately, because I feel like I have nothing to contribute these days. I don't make full art anymore and I don't have the means to buy anything, so.. yeah.

I have neglected FA lately a bit since I have nothing to contribute. I managed to relax some over Christmas, and work has become a little easier again since my last journal, so, yeah. I'm eager to make 2017 a better year for myself.
Currently I'm mostly sketching and working on my yearly review piece, to be uploaded a week from today, at the beginning of the lunar year. (Y'know, second new moon after winter solstice, yadda yadda.) Year of the firebird. .. Hmm, Phoenix rooster? The Mockingjay Girl on Fire? Sounds exciting.

Anyway, after not really looking at FA for over a month it all piled up and I just managed to cut my inbox down yesterday. Y'all made pretty cool art.

I'm also streaming now and then, mostly together with Mrawlly, over at Picarto. I don't make separate announcements on here, but you can feel free to follow my channel to get e-mail notifications when I stream. Also follow Mrawl. She makes best butts.

I still have one piece of owed art to do and it pains me that I can't get myself to do it, but luckily the addressate is kind enough to wait until I'm done.

I'm back from Eurofurence and I had a lot of fun there with my peers. Talked to many an artsy people and distributed several packs of chocolate among them. <.<;
I came back to over 2000 submissions in my inbox which took me some days to dig through.

Also depression got its clutch on me again last week. You may call it PCD, I'm not sure if it has much to do with the con, but I've been back to the stressed and restless me that I was been before Calacene and Valkyrian invaded my personal space.
I haven't had the time nor the mood to draw yet, but I'm sure that'll come back soon. I have a few ideas itching in the back of my head that want to get out onto paper. Most of the evenings I'm chatting or playing games, which I haven't done in a long time. It's relaxing.

I've gotten more active on Twitter lately, feeling content being lewd between a couple of amazing moos and kitties. My friends and peers are doing a great job of keeping me upright and setting my mind straight, even if they may not realise that. Love 'em all. <3

I'm not happy with my job anymore. If you're interested, I've been working in a chemistry lab on my doctorate / Ph.D. thingy for almost four years now and lately it's been ... exhausting. Straining. Nerve-wrecking, maybe. The pay is dissatisfyingly low and unstable, and in the last months the syntheses have been plastered with frustration and dead ends. I'm running out of ideas, motivation, and mindspace to keep it on for much longer. I know I'm not far from my goal, but this last leap is daunting at least, maybe impossible.
It's research, research is frustrating, I know, but neither I nor my boss have expected it to be as unfruitful as it's currently proving to be.
Last week I had an appointment with my orthopaedist to check up on my back, and he talked a bit with me about it. Said it is no shame to try around a bit with learning and studies. Life isn't a straight path. Yesterday my boss talked with me after I said that I'm slowly losing my sanity motivation over the research, and he replied that he's been seeing me struggling with it, and he'd understand and that I'd have his blessing if I quit and looked for something else to do instead.
It's nothing too special, but it's very uplifting to hear those words from elders. Especially since my educational and work life till here has been a straight path, never wavered, just went on, because I didn't know what else to do. I still don't know what else to do, but now I feel that I have options and support.
I'm going to continue the labwork till the end of the year, and then summarise my results. Whether that leads to a degree or not is in the open for now, that hinges on whether these four months will be more successful than the past twelve.

Also originally I planned to open commissions last week since I had a week off work, but that didn't happen. I needed to recover from the con. I'm not good with many people around. ;-;

Oh, and if you like Magic: the Gathering or just love good storytelling, I'd highly recommend reading the Magic Story from Monday. I went through so many emotions, mostly mindless chuckling. The characters are depicted awesomely. I think you'll have a better start if you know the protagonists already, but even if you're a newcomer, you should have a lot of fun. (Helpful links are on the bottom of the page, too.) Also, today is Announcement Day. Be stoked!

But first, my condolences to everyone who is affected or lost someone close to them. It's always hard to lose someone so suddenly and unforeseenly, so it's no shame to wail.

Now, my request is simple. Don't condemn a group for the actions of a single person. Or even a small fraction. Don't spread your hate across a whole swath of people if it was only one perpetrator.
All the other Muslims/Arabs/straights/men and whatever else that guy's supposed to be are just as sad and angry as you are.

Don't hate people.
Hate that one fucking twat who used violence to go against a problem he faced.

I just came back from three days without internet while I visited my grandpa. I spend my time at his place fairly often cause he's a nice old man and gives me free food. Free food is awesome. *_*
Upon coming back, though, I have to catch up on the things that have happened in the meantime here and elsewhere in the networked world. And I realised today that doing that puts a lot of stress on me each time, and easily enough puts me in full panic mode. Especially if people want to talk to me and need my attention immediately. °-°
I may be odd in that regards.

I feel like I'm addicted to information. I hate being left out of talks or missing out on things, and soak up anything that might be remotely interesting to me. I read the often 500+ lines of Skype group conversations that pile up, evaluate 200 journal titles and 400 submission thumbnails on FA, and look closer at about 30 of each. Plus all the websites, blogs, and comics that undergo more or less regular updates. While my brain is already feeling sore and at the edge of overheating from the anxiety caused by exactly that.
This is probably also the reason why I'm extremely rarely on Facebook and Twitter nowadays. Updates are whizzing past so quickly that I can't keep up. At least not without cutting too deep into time I need for other tasks.

Don't really know what to do about that. I seem to be unable to not care. °-°

Oh, also, back update: Feels much better now, but I'm out sick for three more weeks. I can sit and draw again, so I'mma turn on the art production machine again soon. Also streaming with Mrawl occasionally.

No one is waiting for art from me, and my lack of productivity right now is far from rare, but this time it's... not wanted. X3

I pinched my sciatic nerve about three weeks ago now and have been lying in bed since then. Trying to come by with anti-inflammators and muscle relaxing stuff. Apparently it's a little odd that it takes so long to heal, and even odder that my back is fine but my leg is hurting a lot when I try to move. Doctors are puzzled, but I'm getting better, slowly.
Fact is, I can't sit comfortably for longer durations, so I cannot draw for now. Even though my fingers itch for it. :c
And almost three weeks of lying in bed left me rather weak, especially my back muscles, so I gotta retrain them slowly. Today I was out for some hours; it was exhausting, but I'm feeling well. I just hope my leg will be okay tomorrow. I'll try to sit back on my desk.
Gotta go back to productivity~

I've written on this over the course of a few days. There's much to handle in here, so it might be a bit confusing. But sometimes I ache to give an overview over my characters. Especially since only four of them have a ref sheet so far. X3

1. Your first OC ever?
Way back I had a plethora of human and humaniod characters. The first among them was a sweet, mean redhead girl named Jessica, designed after Grandia 2's Millenia.
I'm also working on incorporating some of the characters from way back into my current lore.

2. Do you have a personal favorite among your OCs?
Well, Rya, my fursona. Both male and female version. It resembles lots of the things I like and dream of.

3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?
I'm currently owning five adopted characters, foremost fox Kyoko, unicorn Zerai, and Forest Dweller Rain. The other two still need to find a place.
I got them all from different people.

4. A character you rarely talk about?
All of them. <.<
Okay, not really, but I don't talk a lot about characters, except when Avalon asks. Especially those that don't have a visual reference yet.

5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?
Rya, probably. The world needs more wildebeest love. <3

6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?
That'd probably be Thor and Marit. Both are tall horse characters with brown fur and blone hair. But they don't really know each other at all.

7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories?
Pretty much all my characters are part of a large, ongiong story. In my head. I plan to make a comic someday which will explain their lives and relations. I hope I can actually make it. °^°

8. Do you RP as any of your OCs? If you do, introduce one of your RP OCs here.
The only kind of RP I do is the erotic kind (and only with close friends, so don't ask). Of course I mainly use Rya for that. Although, a few years back, I also enjoyed playing as Nina, a female wildebeest, but I grew out of her demanding, dominating manner. And she grew out of it eventually as well. X3

9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else?
If I feel like losing the connection to a character, and I see a friend liking it, I'd give it to them. I just want to make sure that the characters are in good hands.

10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design?
None of my characters have a particularly complicated design. They're fairly modest. I tried to push that a bit once, but it was only enough for a bit of a punky hairstyle.
Some of my characters have parts that aren't really complicated, but tiring to draw, like tiger stripes for Wilkes, or not-so-tigery stripes for his wife. Or the mighty crown of stag Heidenreich.

11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a “sunshine”?
The most constantly-happy characters are Zanne, who makes a lot of afwul jokes and has the most genuine laugh you'll hear, despite being a little awkward to be around, and lioness Aria, who's more the motherly, caring kind, soul-crushingly optimistic, and thankful for any help she gets.

12. Name an OC that isn’t yours but who you like a lot.
I have a massive crush on RandomBelle's Jason, and I love a lot of the designs of AbelsWord.
Beyond that, I'm a sucker for any kind of hoofers, especially cows.

13. Do you have any troublemaker OCs?
Thor is a pretty big guy and has difficulties with keeping his aggression under control. Byron, on the other hand, is prone to disobeying the law, mostly stealing things or stirring trouble and sneaking out of it before it backlashes.

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory.
How about Dahlia?
She comes from a family of white sheep, the fourth child to loving, but stern parents. She was as loved as the rest of her family until she developed her black marking and her eye went blind at a young age. Her siblings grew afraid of her and eventually her father threw her out of the house, telling her never to come back again.
Her youngest siblings love her, despite her oddity, and luckily managed to soften the hearts of their parents, so she could come back. She lives with her family from time to time now, but the peace is a fragile one and there's constant tension when she's around, so she prefers to stay in the woods, despite the hardships of not having a home.
Through the shunning of her family she grew timid, anxious about people, and very quiet, only finding comfort in fairytales and stories which sometimes leads to her being delusional, almost oblivious to the real world around her, more often than not creating the impression that she's autistic.

15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people?
Erm, not exactly. Well, I'm happy to answer any question that arises about them, but I rarely talk about them myself. Ava is pretty interested in them, usually. °-°

16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)?
Umm, Nina is the most scientific of my characters. Heidenreich has a vast knowledge of things. Take your pick.

17. Any OC OTPs?
Caroline and Milton are in a long-term relationship of a bit more than 10 years.
Another dream team consists of Nina and Zanne who've known each other since school times and even live together now. They're best friends and sometimes finish each other's...

Unlikely relationships? Anything involving Thor, probably. He gets annoyed pretty quickly and is capable of starting a fight with nearly anyone.

I care for my all of my characters, but the one that means the most to me is Rya, of course. He's my representation, my self. °-°

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details?
Caroline has a pretty nice voice. She doesn't sing professionally but she got proper education in that matter.
Also I imagine Heidenreich having a very deep bass voice. He might actually be in a choir, don't know yet.

21. Your most artistic OC?
That would be Rya whose job is that of an artist. ^-^

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how?
Um, Thor, probably. People tend to see him as cuddly, friendly, and the like. Actually he is an aggressive asshole, confident in being the biggest, strongest, and most intimidating guy around.

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
I don't remember first ideas too well, but the character that changed most over the years is probably Nina, who went from basically an RP dominatrix to a more caring, motherly, but constantly stressed type who's tired of the sexist bullshit that she encounters in her science studies sometimes.

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?
Female Rya. H-cup breasts on a super-curvy body and a hard-to-satiate lust for sex and milking.

Each of my characters has a trait of me. The one that resembles me most is Rya, though. We share almost everything (hrhr), save for the animal resemblance and the job.

No. Why would you ever do that, actually?

I recently made a cow character, named Eileen, after this song by Dexy's Midnight Runners.

Thor, again, for his lack of self-control. Oh, and my spider character Gohma has quite a potent venom, but she won't use it in everday situations.

If there is any kind of story or myth around that house, Dahlia would be all up for the challenge. She's very curious and absolutely not sheepish when it comes to adventures. (That pun was really not intended, oh god.)

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?
Caroline has a number of stuffed animals, but that's not really a secret. More so it is for her boyfriend Milton. He has a few he holds dear, but barely anyone knows about it.

Rya: abandoned, due to laziness

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why?
Erm, Caroline, probably. She's afraid a lot and absolutely doesn't like the horror genres at all. Her face looks wonderful when she's panicking. <.<;
That's the average horror game protagonist, right?

I have two ravens, names Frank and Frey. But I'm not sure if I keep them for long.

35. Any sibling characters?
Save for Frank and Frey, neither of my characters is a sibling with another character.
The only other relatives are: Rya is a cousin of Nina, and Nina has a daughter, named Midna.

36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?
No. I'm not really a fan of that kind of outsourcing. Save for Rya, whose lover will be the character of whoever my real-life lover is at the time being, I don't aim to establish any outside courtships.

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human.
You do realise that this is a furry site, yeah? Probably coming over from DA. Ts ts.
The least anthropomorphic character I have is Brb, a tentacle momster. I'm still trying to brush up his design. It's surprisingly hard if you lack a proper face. Or limbs. Or a body at all.

38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer?
That'd be Caroline as well.

Dahlia, once again. She digs mythology and the weird stories that come with it, and she's Greek herself.

43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks?
I seem to be stuck in using rather natural colours when designing a character. Regarding body type, gender, or height, I try to have some of everything.

44. Something you like about your OCs in general.
Most of them are a nice, cuddly bunch, know how to have fun, and are quite smart in one or the other way. I like them all to a degree, but all have traits that I don't like a lot, so I think that gives them some depth. At least for me.

45. A character you no longer use?
It's more a question of when I start using them at all. I've never really abandoned any of my characters; some that I drew were just one-time designs.

46. Has anyone ever told you that you treat your OCs badly?
Ava sometimes complains that I don't get enough art of my characters. In return I complain about money.
If I were rich enough, really, the majority of my money would go into art. <x<

47. Has anyone ever (friendly) claimed any of your OCs as their child?
As a child? No, not really. Save for Midna, who actually is one of my OC's child, all my characters are pretty adult and care for their own. They're regularly getting abused as cuddle partners, though.

48. An OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure.
I think that would be Caroline, at least on the outside. Wonderful education in many fields, graduated at the top of the class, stable sports career, loving boyfriend, owns a car, stunning beauty.

49. Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes?
If you're talking about picture memes, Zanne is your girl to go. She's all for nerdy stuff, and finds fun in the silliest things.
Text memes like this one might rather be something for Nina. She's quite meticulous with gathering information and tries hard turning them into something tangible.

My female characters characters with breasts, as I realised recently, span across cup sizes from A (Dahlia) up to H (Rya), with every letter in between.
And Rya's official penis size is "large, but still providing more fun than inconvenience." <.<;

Sometimes I feel like all I do is whining.
Looking through the list of my recent journals to the right while I'm writing this here proves that I... barely whine. I must have a crooked self-image. °-°

Lately art has been very slow and I'm terribly sorry especially for the handful of people whom I promised something, whether it's a drawing or a story. (EDIT: Like, holy shit, the last proper drawing I uploaded has a signature of VII/15.) A large part of the reason for that is that work has become gradually more overwhelming and long, and during the few days where I get off work earlier I find myself buried in chores.
Autumn depression is gallopping towards me. Yay.
I sometimes feel terribly alone here in my own four walls, but even if someone were here with me, I wouldn't have much time for them. Mreeh. Thankfully my friends keep me at bay by talking with me and trying to paint smiles on my face. A big thankyou to you bunch. Love ya. <3

Another reason for the slowing in art is that I frustrate myself by seeing other people spew out drawing in sometimes astonishing speed, and I scribble around here with my pencils, needing days of work to produce something showable. And that frustartion leads me to not even pick up the pencil sometimes.

Finally, but that may be a consequence of the last part, I feel like I don't enjoy making art. It's more a chore, more something I need to do. I'm in the odd situation that I want to make art, but I don't like to do it.
It's probably a version of "I want results without putting the work in". Dammit. I never wanted to get there. °-°

 Dipper is a fantastic artist and very dear to me.
Unfortunately her very own body is a single construction site, there's often something wrong, and currently she's in pain and trouble. She wants to try a new medicine to ease her pain and help with her issues but her insurance company doesn't approve the drug, and thus she's stuck with the full price.

Closing in on three years of being here. I've registered on 12th of October, 2012.

What does your username mean?
Oh, are we doing that again, hm?
My name is actually older than my ... furriness. I wanted something rather unique. I started out with 'dragon', kicked the 'd' out and put a 'y' in. Particularly because I like the 'ry' sound in Japanese. ... A long time has passed since making the name. <.<
As for the uniqueness... I missed that part a bit. There are some more Ryagons floating about in the internet. X3

Right-handed.

What was your first submission?
Some old art. Marit was the second character I ever drew, yet I've only made this one piece of her. Yet.

What is your favorite type of art to create?
I do traditional stuff with inkpen and coloured pencils. But it doesn't really feel like my favourite thing to do, currently.

If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Oil. Fucking. Painting.

What was your first favorite?
Another old piece that a friend of olden times drew of some other friends of olden times. X3

What type of art do you tend to favorite the most?
I like art that makes me smile. Either because it's happy, well done, or tells a story.
Or when art is horribly sexy. <//<

Who is your all-time favorite artist?
My favouring of artists changes with the season, but my favourite art-person is probably  Mrawl, who has been an awesome friend during the past year and a bit more. Besides being wonderfully talented, and still improving with every piece.

If you could meet anyone on FurAffinity in person, who would it be?
A lot. Like, a ton. Like, pretty much all the people who've been talking with me. They are nice people.

How has a fellow user impacted your life?
Whom to pick? Hmm...

What are your preferred tools to create art?
Pencil and paper. The rest is just bonus. I find the sketching the most rewarding part.

What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
Not terribly inspirational, but the only place I feel comfortable enough at. My desk at home.

What is your favorite FurAffinity memory?
Probably the one day while I was at Eurofurence last year, and I randomly got a dozen watchers. X3
I did some research cause I had no idea why they came. Turned out that someone uploaded porn of my character to e621. Or maybe they came from Inkbunny. Anyway, I'm not mad. X3

And I had a blast. *-*
I met a bunch of peopleingses, like  Genetta,  Caraid,  Ferolux,  femtoAmpere,  Deyvarah,  Wolfgryph,  Mstr85, and a whole bunch of awesome folks for the first time.

A lot of the time with Yarac and Ghost. Probably talking with Sturmschwinge a bunch, maybe leading Fero, Cara, and Femto around if they want to.
Some of the people I wanted to meet most won't be able to come. :c ... But I hope despite the circumstances, the con won't be bleak.
