ScribbleDragon is my new page. I'm leaving this one in teh dust. Once I clean out all the submissions, I'm closing it.Its WEDNESDAY!
General | Posted 16 years agoAnd you know what that means?
If you said "an evening service and/or dinner at our local church", you might be right, but not in my books.
Because today was also NEW COMIC BOOKS DAY! ^.=.^ I LOVE Wednesdays for that. No matter where you go in the world: if it's Wednesday, its New Comic Book day at your local comic store. Seriously - go check one out sometime! :D You'll find so many geeks there it may unsettle you!
But this Wednesday was unlike any other new comic book day. Today launched the 4th issue of "Haunt" - a comic published by Image and made by a team of some pretty amazing talent - including Todd McFarlane and Robert Kirkman. When issue #3 came out last month I had written in a letter to their fan-mail thingy because I was so utterly impressed by the writing and art of the comic. And it made FIRST LETTER this month when #4 came out! ^.=.^ You'll find it there in the back where they answer fanmail. :) I'm buying a second copy of it to have autographed someday. :P Yeah - I'm one of THOSE geeks.
*Astonishingly Reveals his button-down lab-shirt with pocket protector and pens set, dawns his glasses, and old high-school pic with braces and "Computer Engineering Club |20x0rz" group photo.* (if you could read that last part, than j00 |\|33|> |-|31P.)
Deep down I think every furry is a bit of a geek, and I love that about our community/fandom thingy. The world needs more geeks & nerds, because we still haven't taken over the world. (ONE DAY TRUE BELIEVERS! ONE DAY!) I think the extent of a person's geekiness is revealed on Wednesdays at the comic book store. And for that reason, I go there. Every Wednesday that I am able - I swing by my local shop and say hullo to all the nerds, fanboys, geeks, furries, Trekkies, Wars Fans, Warhammer weekenders, L5R lovers, D&D Proud Virgins, Magic: The Gathering groupies, Yu-Gi-Oh heads, and Pokemaniacs. Because on Wednesday, the weekly warriors of Hump Day come out to geek out about their favourite things, their guilty pleasures, and their Comic-Crack habits (if you have a comic-crack habit, please do not seek out medical attention - you're in good hands and even better company).
So this Wednesday, or maybe next - I encourage you to find out where your nearest comic book store is, drop in, and say 'ello! Not hello - "Ello", (but its close enough).
So that's all I've got to say about that - happy New Comics Day from me to you! And 'till next I scribe, ciao!

General | Posted 16 years agoI didn't have one. Not really, no. I lost my big fancy business job on November 9, and working at a comic book store on Wednesdays (which by the way is the fucking coolest job ever). But sadly that doesn't pay the bills. Nor does washing your roommate's dad's RV. But after a very long month and a half of searching high and low, I found one job at an Indian restaurant called Kandas on December 23rd. They called me up 3 weeks after I submitted my application, and said, "Hey if you can be here in a half-hour, you've got the job.!"
Naturally I flapped my dragon wings as fast as I could to get my unemployed behind down there, and I've been working every day non-stop since. I worked Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas. And its a part time job!!! O..o How the hell!?
Well that's the rough part. I have split shifts. Which means I get to work around 11am, leave around 3pm, then have to go back to work again around 6pm and work until 10pm. So I spend eight hours of my day at work, and another... lessee... time there and back... carry the one... another 100 minutes so travelling to and fro. So And to make things better, since time is spaced in 4 hour blocks, I technically don't need to be awarded any sort of lunch break. I get to enjoy my food AFTER my shift ends. Tag on another 30 min, because I'm a very slow eater unfortunately.
Add in the fact that I'm doing this on my feet all day, because even though its a very slow restaurant, its very demanding. So I'm tired as shit during my nice two hour break that I get to sit down and not be working until 10pm.
So this Christmas, I spent almost exactly two hours with my Darker-Kain's family for Christmas, not even getting to enjoy his Mom's AMAZING tacos, but graciously getting the chance to open a couple of gifts that they so kindly bestowed ^.-.^
Now I didn't really care to celebrate this year just due to money and stress issues, but yesterday my sister decided to make a point of coming over to my house on my one day off this week (well it would be, but the Comic Shop decided to take a holiday as well, so I've got Wednesday off, too) to come over and drop off the gifts my parents wanted to get me.
For those of you who know anything about me, I'm fairly bitchy about the relations that I have with my parents, namely because of a "small" dispute 5 years ago that got me kicked to the curb in la moda-del-fabuloso. Thankfully my sister was the only one who came over, so its not nearly as stressful. Thank Goddess for giving my sister sensibility!
The downturn was that my ex-roommate and his on-again off-again girlfriend showed up later and spent the entire evening in my dining room arguing. THAT is how I spent my Holiday, in short, though I'm leaving out something very important.
See I actually enjoyed my holiday on Yule, December 21st, and enjoyed a warm Pagan ceremony among friends from the Church of the Earth, a community-based Pagan church not too far from my home that I've been attending for several years on and off. Had a wonderful time with the cakes and ale, and great food. :) It gave me good chance to reflect upon the bullshit that I've been dealing with in a less... well... shit-tinted light. See I realise that yeah my family might have been screwing me over for the last five years, but a percentage of it could have been avoided by my own arrogance and angered behaviour. Also I realise that were it not for the mess they put me through I probably would never have grown up as fast as I did. And I'm pretty thankful for that. Thankful... ugh. I didn't post the follow up to my last entry.
Em.. how was. Adoption fell through, birth mum didn't want to know me, but I know my birth name was Jason Bryan... and dunno the last name. Also Thanksgiving was spent in a drunken mess listening to my future-father-in-law brag on about his proud position in the Romanian Baptist Church.. Quite a pompous fellow, but you've got to admire his conviction to what he believes in, as well as his time-earned wisdom. Not much else aside from that.
Okay well that's all I have time for before work, so I'm off now, till next I scribe! Ciao!

What a time its been....
General | Posted 16 years agoSO! Holy crapoli. Well, best to start from the beginning. :P
I have good news, and I have bad news.
Shortly after the AC/DC concert, we had a fantastic Halloween party, and great time at ritual at Church of the Earth. On Monday, November 2nd, I finalise the paperwork necessary to find out about my birth-parents (I've known I was adopted since I was a kid, but never had the spare money to find them). On Tuesday, we celebrate
Darker-Kain's birthday, and have a blast. On Wednesday, I lose the job working with my adoptive, prejudiced family. ... On Thursday, Kain comes out of the closet to his folks. They rejoice. Lucky bastard. Gotta love that family of his. Weekend comes and goes without much of a hitch. The following week was spent with all of us recovering from our last week. THIS past weekend, I meet up with DJ Cammy (Raver's Fantasy) and have an early Thanksgiving dinner with his family. We've become pretty good friends. He might even use some of my lyrics on his next remix. :) AND his biggest client just gave him money for a paid weeks' vacation in Florida... and he's taking me with and offered to pay the remainder of my lease. :3
So all in all? Bad karma? Meet balance. <3
This is Scribbles, and until next I scribe: Ciao! :D
*EDIT!*
The vacation is currently up in the air due to today's increase in train expenses.

Saw AC/DC this past weekend...
General | Posted 16 years agoIt rocked. I went with my friend Ion Otter, who, in exchange for giving him my extra ticket, gave me the ride up there and bought me a meal. :P Got damn good seats and it was a helluva show. I literally woke up the next morning with my hands in the \m/ pose. xD Loved every minute of it. ^..^
This Halloween weekend
sweetwater is coming by my house to party and drink with me and
darker-kain. There shall be much frivolity. :D And next weekend I'm off to go camping with some of the local furs at Umstead Park, prior to which I've been invited to go see a group of singers perform at Duke University with a Delta-Lambda-Phi brother of mine out of our Ohio chapter. Should be fun ^^
Been pretty busy with events and just... well... doing stuff lately. Haven't cleared out my messages here in almost 4 months. >..>;; Oh yeah and for those who still follow what I do - YES I'm still trying to move Australia, and NO I haven't found a better job yet.
Oh also I bought a DS Lite recently because I was feeling really crappy at work and I needed a major pick-me-up. I got it with Scribblenauts ('cos its only appropriate) and its by far one of the most fun games I've ever played since I first played DOOM back in '94 (Which btw does not run on Vista).
All in all, its been a busy past few weeks. New job offer from the local bank (haven't started yet though), new games, making new friends in the local gay community, and also working at taking some EMT classes.
Hope that my absence hasn't been too much a bother, but I do apologize for the lax in creative production. General 'life' stuff just keeps sapping away my inspiration.
Until next I scribe then, Ciao!

The Next Time....
General | Posted 16 years agoYou see an attractive man/woman, walk up to them with a cheesy smile+stare combo, then in a real smooth sexy voice say, "I like your chips."
Then walk away all cool-like. The reactions are wide and varied, but always funny afterwards. Don't explain it, and don't say anything more on it. You'll be amazed what happens.
I'll paypal you $10 if you get it with reactions on video for youtube.

General | Posted 16 years agoOkay so in my last journal I mentioned something regarding the odd/funny stories about stuff that happens to me... And I would love to put this one in a full story, but it was short and recent, so I'm just leavin' a journal of it. Here goes.
For those of you who don't know, I do accounting and paperwork in an office setting as the assistant to the VP of a small business operated by my mum and dad... with whom I have rather poor relations due to the whole gay thing. :P It doesn't pay nearly as well as it should, but that's another story.
Yesterday, I found an error in the shipping reports, and needed to have them corrected by the shipping manager, who had left for the day. The next person in charge was my mum. So I brought the problem to her attention, and ask her to fix it, 'cos it was her job as per the chain of command. She didn't understand that I literally didn't know how to operate the shipping equipment, and got... rather pissy.
Anyhow at one point towards the end of the conversation, things went a bit like this:
Mum: "GEEZ! You're just the king of arguing aren't you?"
Me: "Well I prefer 'Queen', but that's besides the point."
Mum: "Oh no! I am NOT calling you a damn 'queen'"
Me: "That's fine, ya don't need to."
Mum: "No. You're not a freakin' QUEEN 'cos ya don't have a vagina. YOU have a penis. I have a vagina!"
Now mind you this last bit was rather loudly shouted, and some other coworkers were nearby to hear this part... and I'm trying hard not to bust a gut laughing 'cos of how many one-liners she just opened herself up for. The best of which, being adopted an all, would have been, "At least mine's functioning."
Of course the RIGHT thing to say would have been...
Nothing. Absolutely fucking NOTHING.
So I said, "Woo! Cunt power! Good onnya!"
I was promptly sent home for the day and told not to come in the next day, and pay would be docked for that shift, as the other coworkers of mine were snickerin' and giggling at what transpired.
All in all, I'm happy with how it turned out. And when I go back to work Friday to find out if I still have a job, I'm going to be grinning all day.

General | Posted 16 years agoI've been busy.
Job hunting so I don't go insane at my current job in the literal sense. I've got over 700 submissions to browse through and 99 journals at the moment. I make it a habit to check ALL of them. 'Cos I like you guys. :3 The furry fandom is like my second home. Or first home, I don't really know for certain. Anyhow please don't think I'm ignoring people or that I've stopped caring or stopped.. well. Anything. I'm usually reachable by email nowadays at ScribbleDragon(at)gmail.com
I haven't posted any new poetry in some time... and its been months since I worked on my story, "The Scribe." I just can't pull myself away from the other things I do, it seems. How do some of you people manage it? I don't get it! xD Real life seems to get in my way too often.
Somebody told me a few weeks ago that I (apparently) have interesting stories. Really? Huh. I always thought they were ramblings. But in light of the laughter I seem to have incited by the stories I've told to some people, I've decided that maybe I should start writing these stories down... Or posting story-telling vids on YouTube, since I can't seem to get my speech recognition software to work right.
For being only twenty-three, I've managed to do a lot of things, so I'm told. I think those who say so are full of it, but hey - if you say so. :P
Anyhow, point of this journal: I'm not intentionally being neglectful. I just sorta have that "The Muse Has Left Me" bullshit going on right now, and when I get home from work today I'm going to see what I can do about writing down one of my stories to share with you all.
I hope you all will look forward to hearing about the time I got beat up by a Mormon. That'll be the first one I share. :P
Till next I scribe - CIAO! :D

Last night's concert.
General | Posted 16 years agoLast night I went to see Nickelback, Saving Abel, Hinder, and Papa Roach at an awesome concert. It... kicked... so much ass.
I was invited by our local rock radio station, 96.1FM, to join the crew on the party deck... due to me writing in a letter which was read on air.
Apparently somewhere in the midwest an older woman was arrested for molesting a 16 year old boy... and, according to the article (as they read it on the air), they were furries.
So I wrote in a letter to the station for them to read on air. Which they did. It stated simply, in address of the furry couple, "STOP MAKING THE REST OF US LOOK BAD, STUPID!!"
They loved it, and I got to meet a legend of the local DJ industry, "Bob the Blade." Blade is a guy who's radio show I've listened to for over a decade. I got to shake his hand and have dinner with him and the other DJs. It was fantastic!!
Also, one of the DJs, Adam 12, was freakin' out because Papa Roach was singing while 96Rock asked him to be on air - and Papa Roach was breaking ALLLLLLL the ratings for what's considered, "appropriate" for on-air. :P
Nickelback put on an amazing performance, even playing "Highway to Hell" with Hinder's lead singer on vocals. There were some other memorable moments as well - like when Nickelback's drummer did a 5 minute drum solo while they handled a LARGE snake that snuck into the backstage area. With all the noise and pyrotechnics, that must have been some BADASS fucking snake. There was also a point at which the lead singer bitched out security for confiscating some dude's weed during the concert, saying, "They can't catch all of us - LIGHT EM IF YOU GOT EM!" And also at one point before the encore, he poured tequila down the throats of people in the front row. xD
All in all it was a fantastic show, and I had a great time there with
Darker-Kain. :3 I hope I get to do more shows like this in the future! ^..^

^..^To the fans of 2 Sense...

AnnapanfsAC'09: The Full Entry. (Its REALLY Long)
General | Posted 16 years agoHullo and good evening to everyone reading this. Anthrocon '09, my second furry convention ever, and my first time at AC... was fan-freakin' tastic. :)
First off, I want to yell at Rimpala for tagging me for a meme LITERALLY HOURS BEFORE I LEFT! And in lieu of giving you the response to it, I'm writing this FIRST. So sorry, Rimpala, can't do it now. :P
I left on Wednesday afternoon around noon with a local fur-friend,
Liztail. I drove his car up there the whole way. Was a beautiful ride through the West Virginia mountains. Even when I stopped in a gas station at 8pm and ran into a couple of stoners heading to Dead Days (an annual Grateful Dead gathering) who were offering some 'high quality stuff' to help pay for the trip. It was still a nice drive. Got to Pittsburgh just before 11pm, and saw a few furs out and around town, but because my roommates wouldn't be getting there until the following afternoon. SOOOO LizTail got the brilliant (and I do mean brilliant) idea of renting out a motel nearby. It wasn't pricey at ALL, and I'm REAL glad we stopped in for the night. Though the guy running the place was a bit creepy. x3
Early Thursday Liz and I woke up and got ourselves a parking space in a parking deck halfway between the two hotels. We were at the DoubleTree, but parking there is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. The parking deck was a much better solution. ^..^ So since I wasn't going to be able to do anything until our roomies showed up, I grabbed my box of Apples to Apples, and brought it up to the Zoo, which was open. :P
So anyways, skip a lil' here (I met some people who's names I knew during the con but I don't remember perfectly now) I start up an Apples to Apples on one of the long tables that they've got in the Zoo with myself, Liztail, and one other guy whom I had just met that was shorter than me and didn't give me a card or phone number, so I don't have him in my phone to remember who he was. But he was cool. So cool guy, if you're reading this: Rock onnya. We played for a lil' bit, then another guy came and sat down (whose name I also forget), and then another, and then a few more sat down. Pretty soon I had a full table of about 8 players. We were running out of room, but not for lack of more people wanting to play, just... we needed more table!
I stole some empty tables then and added them onto the one that we had going. And then we keep playing. ^..^ I think at its largest point, I counted 18 players (so don't criticize me for not remember NOW, two weeks later, 'cos I could remember them when they were sitting there). Anyhow, midway I get a text from Darius-Kei, who tells me, "I'm at the bus stop, where's the convention?"
"Its across the street."
"Which one?"
"The one across from the bus stop."
"There are a couple streets here, and I don't want to get lost."
"Its the big friggin' building in front of you on the other side of the street you're looking at right now."
This went on a for a lil' bit. It could have taken longer, but instead I told him to hold tight, then told the guys at the table to hold tight, and ran outside, across the street grabbed Dari, and guided him back to the table, where I sat the bugger down and proceeded to learn at this point that another 4 or 5 people had joined the table(s). I should have got another one. :P
I was doing the table for a while and had a LOT of fun. Really - I've not seen so many over-the-top happy faces in one place since my Great Grandmother's funeral (they had an open bar). Around 2:30 in the afternoon, they announce, "HEY! REGISTRATION IS OPEN!!" And I say, "Pack it up!" And pull in the cards and rush everyone out as we all go to registration. And I did not pre-reg.
In the reg line, I met a fursuiter named Nay-Nay, an artist with a Mud-Kip hat (who drew FANTASTIC work, even if I wasn't fond of all the material), a bat named Stoker who wore the same coat as me at FWA, my old friend Wally Wolf, and also seeing my roomie, Sine, who had pre-registered (garrr... wish I had thought to), and a few others. Nay-Nay drew me free art in like... 2 minutes. On notebook paper. Using the Apples to Apples box as a backing. I'll have to post it tomorrow when
Darker-Kain wakes up so I can borrow his scanner. For how fast she drew it, and with NO ref pic - she did a real nice job. ^.-.^ I really liked it. Nay-Nay is a fursuiter, who, if you know - please send her my way so I can send her luvs and credits for her stuff. Oh and here's a fun line story:
At one point, there's a guy who walks by, wearing the exact same t-shirt as me. In my silliness I say, "Well sir, we simply cannot have. One of us will have to change. And I'm not getting out of line." So I took my shirt off, and had my jacket resting across me in lieu of it. :) An hour later the air con cuts on, and I start getting chilly tits, so I decide 'best to put this thing back on - taking it off was silly anyway.' I turn around so that the people in line aren't staring at me, and as I turn, I take off my jacket to reveal my naked upper body in front of a TV camera crew that just happened to be walking right there.
"SHIT!"
I turn around quick, put on my shirt as fast as I can, then my jacket, and I sulk for the next couple hours before I finally get registered. For anyone who watched the news that evening, I heard the convention was covered - if I showed up topless on any of the channels for any amount of time, I'd sincerely like to apologize for that rather embarrassing moment of partial nudity. I swear I thought I was going to have a heart attack. And that afterward, Uncle Kage was going to come down to the hospital and finish me off.
Four hours after waiting in the reg line, I finish. On my way out, I ran into the
blotch team. When I went to FWA, only Kenket was there, but at AC, I got to meet the other half of the team, Blackteagan. ^..^ She stamped my book in the Dealer's Room the next day. OH AND IF EITHER OF YOU TWO READ THIS I'M SORRY IF I GOT YOU MIXED UP!! x..x Big thanks to them for signing and stamping my book. Which I've finally gotten around to reading - this thing is HILARIOUS!! ^..^
By this time all the members who I'd be rooming with had finally shown up,
sinecurve,
darius-kei,
syntax0,
gar-yulong, who I knew from #Dragons on Furnet, and also
foxchild and Icefox, who I only met then at the convention. Some of us got together for a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants (I can't remember what it was called), and then since most of the members were gathered and accounted for, LizTail and I went back to the car and got our luggage, then hauled it to the group's room at the DoubleTree. There wasn't really anything going on that day, and by that point it was pushing 8pm, so I headed back to the convention center with Liztail and Dari, started up another game of Apples, and just played on for a while. ^..^ Saw my friend
Turic, who i bumped in to several times later throughout the convention, and also learned that my
xpanther was there selling his Panther Pouches (which btw, are among the MOST comfortable things I've EVER worn). I also saw that
MissMab was there, and said hullo and offered to buy her lunch, 'cos I've been reading her comic for the last 6 years now and am a rather big fan of hers. :3
Lastly, I learned that
AgentElrond was there. I'm a HUGE 2 Sense fan. I downloaded every show he's ever done, and burned it to disk. With separate disks of all his rants. Agent Elrond started doing the cover art for his episodes around #120~something, and I've been a fan of her art since then. Though I don't use DeviantART much, which is her original home, so I never really passed along my fanboy-hello's. The note she had left on the Bulletin Board said that if you found her and picked her out, she'd do a free sketch. O..o So I was completely pysched out to try and find her at some point during the convention. :P
And thus this is how my first AC began. :)
The following days were So full of different things going on, I don't think it would be fully possible to list the events of what I did in any particular order. So here's the many different things that I'm excited about having gotten a chance to do while at AC. :3
I met a gal named BluStorm, who was short. :P And fun to hang out with ^..^ I also met
Zylana, who was a lot of fun to chat with, and also
rah-bop, who is an AMAZING artist who you should go watch. Do it now. :P Also I ran into FoxFlux, another cool fellow that was fun to meet, and I had coffee one morning with Donamer:.
OH! Story for Donamer. At FWA, I found out that there was a suiter going around with the suit name, "Mr. Scribbles". Word go around to me about it that there was another Scribbles at the convention, so I set out to get some contact information on this guy and wound up chatting with him online, NOT REALIZING he was the famous/infamous Donamer, creater of a certain Flash video involving Crome some years before. When I found out THIS, a mere month before AC, and found out he was going, naturally I had to meet him and shake the man's hand. ^..^ Turns out, Donamer is one of the nicest guys to just sit down and hang out with. ^.____.^ So, Don, if you're reading this - you're an outstanding guy, and I'm glad we got to have coffee. ^..^
Lets see... I also ran in to a bat furry named Stoker, who I knew from FWA as the guy who was wearing the same damn trench coat as me. Which I brought to AC, just in case I ran into him again. :P
And also I got to meet Terrie Smith's husband. Terrie is a fantastic artist who I personally adore for her work with
mangasama in helping bring his characters Chester and Deck to life. :) I found out from this that there was to be soon a graphic novelization of "HAVOC INC", a comic series by Terrie and Mark that never saw completion due to various complications with the publishing companies. But through the new graphic novels, there is hope that the previously unpublished works will now become available through this medium. ^..^ I certainly look forward to adding them to my comics and graphic novel collections. :3 (for those interested, go to http://www.terriesmith.com/ to see what else Terrie has been working on). My best wishes to the goings on with you and your family Terrie, I heard things were going a bit rough at the moment, and I sincerely hope that matters turn out alright.
I got to shake hands with
DarkNatasha and her mum, both of whom are awesome fun to hang out with, and I was glad Natasha was able to sign one of my comic books that she did the cover art for. :3 Also Eric Schwartz, creator of Sabrina Online, was there - and he generously signed my issue of "Sabrina Online: Year One", that I picked up at my local comic shoppe (SUPPORT YOUR LOCALS!!) I got to say hullo to
Kittmouri, and bought a comic from her that she signed for me - she's such a sweet gal. :3 And her art is so gorgeous ^.=.^ I wish more furs would do family friendly art like hers :3 (Not to say I don't thoroughly enjoy the adult material as well xD ) A surprise to see at the con was
neondragon, who wrote the book "DragonArt", which I proudly own, and purchased at my local Michael's craft store nearly 4 years ago. MANY thanks to her for coming to the convention - I wish I had brought my copy of her book for signing. :3 I also saw and said hello to Bill Holbrook, creator of the Kevin & Kell webcomic, and all-around nice guy. I saw this one guy in the zoo, who I later ran into in the dealers room, named Gordon... who I really can't recall the artistic alias of. >..< But he was an amazing artist to watch work. He's an older member of the fandom, who once had comic books that would get published for small LGBT bookstores, then later self-published. He liked my tail. ^..^ I know I said I'd be wearing the one that my roommate, Cedarpaw, made, but literally the day I left, Darker-Kain: constructed and finished a 1-day tail which I was able to wear through the whole convention and got a lot of nice attention. ^.=.^ Anyhow, Gordon was a great guy, and I would've loved doing lunch with him later, but sadly I never got around to it. :/ Ah well. :P Ah well, it was a busy con. ^..^
I instead got to run into another friend of mine, White-Paw, who wound up introducing me to several wonderful fursuiters that were great to meet. ^..^ I wound up eating at Fernando's, a fantastic diner just outside the convention hotel; I'm glad I got to eat there - our server was a rather big AC/DC fan, and we got to chat for some time. ^.=.^
One of the best things I got to do early on in the convention was see my lil' bro,
redmonkey, who was my roommate for an entire year in San Diego. He's been dealing with some tough shit lately, and I'm really glad I could see him to give hugs. And other things that can't be mentioned. :3 I also met up and hung out with my friend Saberclaw, a suiter I met at FWA, and got to meet the guy who made his fursuit (whose name of course escapes me). :P
Every day when I wasn't doing something like meeting people at random at the con, I was getting to run my Apples to Apples table at the Zoo. And when I wasn't doing THAT, I was at events. I went to a fursuit construction event (cos I really want to build one), I did a lil' singing in the video game room on Rock Band 2, I saw Uncle Kage and 2 do their separate stand up routines, and also I got to see the "Who's Lion Is It Anyway" troupe perform. For which there is STORY~! :D
During their improv, I volunteered as often as I could think of any ideas, and I really had a blast. But early on into it, I got a call from Ice Paws, a fur I had met the other day about trading fishnet t-shirts. Turns out the guy is into engines. <3 Tuner furs. Mmmmm <3 <3 ^..^ We talked for about an hour, and it was all fantastic - but then I REALLY wanted to get back to the Who's Lion event. It was a long one, so there was time. When I got there, I saw on stage a gal making "Avenue Q" jokes as part of her improv. Then later she did a joke referencing "Wicked." Both of these are show tunes that I've seen and LOVE, so being the social hummingbird that I am, I stopped her and said hello. And that's when I read her nametag.
It was
AgentElrond. O..o In my mind that moment, I felt like I had just located the Lost Ark of the Covenant: Here I was after having done hours of improv comedy alongside people I'd only just met, and I find low-and-behold the one I happen to talk to is none other than the artist I had been HOPING dearly to find at some point at the con, that I could get that chance at a free sketch from the elusive, legendary sketch artist of 2's comedy gold. My heart did something of a tumble at this, and it was SO weird getting to hang out with her while she sketched me in the outfit I was wearing - because she's nothing like any other famous artist I've ever run into. When I told my roommates who I had been hanging out with after Who's Lion for the last 2 hours, they said, "Who?", and I felt like I was in a very small fan club. :< But I don't care, 'cos Rondie - you rock. And my con was made SO MUCH MORE AWESOME thanks to you!!! ^.-.^
I can't remember at what point during the convention this next part happened ~ I believe it was Saturday evening - I went to see Jibba and Spazzfox, two awesome comedians who I LOVE listening to on the web. They performed a very funny, and on Jibba's part, very informative routine. It was informative in that, when Jibba asks, "Who in here has ever done a hook up?"... if nobody else raises their hand, either its because nobody there had honestly ever done one, or I was just the only person fool enough to raise my hand. But whatever the case, in a room of over 100 people, I was the only person to raise my hand. And I sat in the very front row. After the show, some of us went out for drinks at the local gay bar - where I introduced Rondie to the lovely world of Kamikazes. :3 CHEERS! ^..^ And I also shared with Jibba the lame story behind my hookup. If you weren't there, you missed it. You might hear it again if I get drunk enough.
The following morning, there was a memorial held in remembrance of Furp. There's not much I can say about him that hasn't already been said by those who know and care for him deeply. I barely knew the man, but in the short time I knew him, he showed me everything I know about getting around Furnet. Were it not for that, I never would have found #Dragons, and subsequently the people I stayed with at AC this year. For those of you who never heard about what happened, Furp was killed a few months ago in a motorcycle accident. Its still not something thats easy to talk about. He was a great guy, and he'll be missed terribly. Uncle Kage put up a LiveJournal community here for those who are interested. http://community.livejournal.com/remember_furp/ . That's the most I can say for any of this.
BUT ON TO HAPPIER STUFF! (Holy craps its 4am already) Uhh...uh... mmph >..< Okay what am I forgetting? OH! Sunday afternoon/evening Uncle Kage and 2 did their anual duo-comedy charity event together. And the most memorable part for me? 2 standing up and blinding Kage as he stood there in his silver sparkling sequin jacket as 300+ camera flashes went of at once, turning the big bird into a blinding disco ball. It was the most fabulous thing I've ever seen in my life coming from a single person. It was like a giant gaysplosion of fagtasticness and I couldn't stop laughing my ass off about it. x3 If anyone has pictures, please send them to me~ I want to cherish the memory. xD
I think after that, I just played lots of Apples 2 Apples, and hung out with Red Monkey and LizTail. And then I came home to find that has brought home his new puppy, Artie (not named for the Vinci and Arty comics, he doesn't even know about those). Artie is freaking ADORABLE. And so quiet for a dog. >..> I think he may be plotting to overthrow my dragon empire.
Also, since I drove back with LizTail, he and I hung out and watched the Blue Ray version of FFVII: Advent Children at his house before we had to call it a night on Monday - and there's a BUNCH of new stuff. Its worth it. Every penny.
And I worked Tuesday 'till Friday... and on SATURDAY~~~ I saw Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for FREE, at Downtown Live in Raleigh, NC USA! For those of you who don't know her by name, *ahem*, "I Don't Give A Damn 'Bout My Bad Reputation", "I Love Rock And Roll (So Put Another Dime In the Jukebox Baby)", "Crimson and Clover", and "Cherry Bomb" were the three big hits of hers that she played. Also she did her own cover of "Everyday People" as part of the 2nd encore.
All in all, its been a pretty damn busy time for me. Sorry it took so long to post this AC journal, but as you can tell, A LOT OF STUFF HAPPENED. o..O Sorry to those of you who couldn't make it and were looking to come. Don't worry, there's always next year :D
First off, I want to yell at Rimpala for tagging me for a meme LITERALLY HOURS BEFORE I LEFT! And in lieu of giving you the response to it, I'm writing this FIRST. So sorry, Rimpala, can't do it now. :P

:PAnd thus this is how my first AC began.
Do it now. :P Also I ran into FoxFlux, another cool fellow that was fun to meet, and I had coffee one morning with Donamer:.OH!
My best wishes to the goings on with you and your family Terrie, I heard things were going a bit rough at the moment, and I sincerely hope that matters turn out alright.I got to shake hands with
DarkNatasha and her mum, both of whom are awesome fun to hang out with, and I was glad Natasha was able to sign one of my comic books that she did the cover art for.
^..^ I instead got to run into another friend of mine, White-Paw, who wound up introducing me to several wonderful fursuiters that were great to meet.
:PEvery day when I wasn't doing something like meeting people at random at the con, I was getting to run my Apples to Apples table at the Zoo.
^.-.^I can't remember at what point during the convention this next part happened ~ I believe it was Saturday evening - I went to see Jibba and Spazzfox, two awesome comedians who I LOVE listening to on the web.
AC was AWESOME.
General | Posted 16 years agoWow. Okay, so I know this is about as delayed a journal on AC as one can possibly write... I mean.. maybe like if I wrote about AC'09 the day before AC'10, it could be worse, but that's not the point. Point is I've been so damn busy since I got back that I haven't had the opportunity to write ANYTHING. Literally - most of it is 'cos of work kicking my ass as soon as I got home, plus the Joan Jett & The Blackhearts concert I went to. Then having to clean up the house for the new puppy... ALL WILL BE EXPLAINED SOON!! I promise. Just give me till like... later this evening when I'm done doing my work at the office and cleaning up the house.

Myrtle Beach: "Furry Beach Bash"
General | Posted 16 years agoOkay so a few months ago, I started talking about it, and with only a week to go, I've had a bit of positive feedback which is gewd. :P For those who are interested or who haven't heard, I'm trying to get a group together for Father's Day Weekend, June 19 - 21st, at Myrtle Beach, SC.
Gathering will be in South Myrtle Beach due east of Highway 17 on the public beach. Its a beach party, not a con - so bring your own beach gear. Come down and enjoy the sun and surf, and bring a friend or two! :D
**EDIT*
I got a call from
Sweetwater a minute ago and wanted to pass this along about the exact location. Because its a beach. And beaches are generally large. If you were to pull up a map of South Carolina, point to Highway 17. Then draw a straight line east. When you hit the water, that's where folks are being expected to be. Its in the 'gay district' of SC so I'm told, chosen for their friendliness towards unusual individuals (i.e. furries) :P

Joblessness on the Horizon.
General | Posted 16 years agoWow... So I've worked for this company that my parents own for the last year now - ever since I moved back from San Diego (I miss you guys out there :< ). And I just heard my boss (a.k.a. Dad) talking behind closed doors about needing to cut some workers... And I'm on the chopping block. Not to say I'm surprised or anything, I never got on well with my folks anyhow. But its bugging me to death right now because at the moment, I'm only two weeks away from being 100% out of credit card debt. Took me a few years, but I'm finally THIS close.
However with joblessness on the not-too-distant horizon, I'm a little worried that I won't make it that far. I don't really have anything lined up, and I don't have any skills outside of customer service or retail related work. Technically this current job counted for 'internal auditing' as a Jr. Accountant (an accountant without the accounting degree). Sounds nice, except there isn't much call for Jr. Accountants around here, NOR is it something that I'm especially fond of doing. Hell, I had more fun working as a grease-monkey in the auto shoppe.
However, 'Fine Ass Gents' like me don't get treated so kindly in those kind of workplaces around here. Its one of the reasons I had to quit my OLD job. Anyhow, that's a bit of an update on what I'm currently working on and doing.
ALSO I FOUND OUT WHO SPAMMED MY INBOX!!! The culprits know who they are, and have been notified. ¬..¬ But anyhow, now that I'm working on finding a new job, I've been having trouble with finding free time to do what I really enjoy - writing. Its kinda ma thing, ya know. >..> I'll go ahead and upload a smaller bit I was working on in a little while. And by the by - sorry its taking so long on "The Scribe", but I've been having trouble making time to sit down and actually work on it when I've got so much else going on.
Lessee... anything else to mention? Hmmm..... ... ... . . . Oh yeah, Friday's my birthday, and I'll be 23. Going to see Terminator late on Thursday. Give me ring if you'd like to see it - there's not a party or anything, its just hanging out and catching a film. Go see it - its actually going to be good. ;) Trust me.
