Mechanic and car/rv nerds, advice needed!
Posted 13 years agoI have a question about our new mobile home. It's a 21 foot 1977 Dodge Sportsman with a 440 motor. Newly built transmission and engine. We also have a Subaru Outback. We're preparing to head off on a 14 hour drive from northern AZ to northern California. My husband is going to be driving the mobile home, and... I REALLY am not comfortable driving the car all the way to CA by myself...We want to tow our car behind the mobile home, but we're going to need a car hauler because our model of car requires all tires off the ground. We've heard in the beginning that it would be absolutely no problem and our RV can tow our car easily. We took it in to have it tuned up yesterday and the mechanic there said he's really worried we'd be pushing it by doing that.
It doesn't have a manual with it, and looking around online we've been unable to find one or any additional information. Thoughts? Advice?

Commissions are CLOSED for the season
Posted 13 years agoWe're preparing to move into our RV this week and take off on our summer excursion to Northern California April 17th, and unfortunately I don't think I'll have much time for art once we leave. I am going to be finishing up the commissions that I already owe people over the next couple of days, and that will probably be it.
If we are able to get internet for a period of time in California, I may take on some up there, but it's hard to say for certain.

Posted 13 years agoWe're now officially road gypsies, yo! Ian and I just purchased a 1977 Dodge Sportsman class C motorhome!!! It's in EXCELLENT shape for it's age, according to our mechanic. We're finishing up our last week at our current residence, and then moving into it :D WOOOOO!!!!
My dog's new name :D
Posted 13 years agoMarlin's new name has been decided. He will now be know as Ma'ii (ma-ee). A little explanation. Ma'ii is a purebred Australian Cattle Dog which is actually a mixture of Dingo and Blue Merle Collie. It was because of him my love for him and my love of the south west that I discovered my fursona/spirit animal to be a Coyote, and in honor of him, I named her Dingo. I wanted a name that intertwined him with myself so after much thought, I settled on the name Ma'ii, which is Navajo (the local native american tribe here in AZ) for "Coyote". I was warned by my husband that the name is held in sort of a negative light out here, because it is associated with tricksters and deception. That's Ma'ii in a nut shell, the king of manipulation and tricks. That's the ACD in a nut shell. And while I suppose there's more to it then that, that's me in a nut shell.

Posted 13 years agoSo, I'm renaming Marlin x3 If you missed my last journal, the reason is simply because it was a name we adopted him with that never settled well with me as it's to closely related to my uncle's name that I despise. We've had Marlin for 6 months now, and I'm officially declaring him as my dog.

Posted 13 years agoJust to start off, I wanted to say that I have NEVER changed a pet's name after owning it for some time. If any name changes are to be done, it's done when we first get them.
Marlin's name has never stuck with me well at all. The name sounds far to similar to the name of an uncle who's responsible for the death of my old dog, and who I no longer speak with. When we first adopted Marlin, I was considering changing his name, but given how well he knew his name that he had for 6 years, I decided to bare through it and figured I'd come to accept it as my love and relationship with him grew. I've come to greatly love this dog very,very much and our relationship, while still growing, is very strong. I still hate his name and cringe every time I say it.
Earliar today, Marlin lost his name tag while out running and we have to go get another made, and well, I wonder if this is a sign. What do you guys think? Is it to late to change his name?

Posted 13 years agoThank you all who responded for the advice. Sometimes I'm just to nice to people and don't always think of what's fair to me. I filed a paypal claims against the artist in question, and hopefully will have my money back soon. Lesson learned. From now on, I won't be commissioning anyone that's NOT over the age of 18, no matter how talented they are.

Nevada, Utah and California bound!
Posted 13 years agoNot sure how many of you actually read my journal anymore, but I figure there's still probably a handful interested :3 Mid may, we're heading out of Flagstaff and tentatively making our way to the Red Woods in northern California, to possibly work and just play around for a couple months. In between, we'll be heading through Vegas, Death Valley, Chico to see 
's dad, Sequoia Park, Yosemite, and making a drop down to San Francisco to see the Golden Gate, and then off to the Red Woods. Somewhere in the midst of all this, probably before we do anything else, we may head up to Utah to see Monument Valley.
Then come mid August, we're off to Fernely, NV to start our seasonal work at Amazon :3 If any of you are within the area of these places, and want to meet up and chill for a few hours, by all means let me know! Just take into account we have two dogs that are coming with us, so liking dogs is a must xD
