An appology to breed-ban enthusiasts
Posted 14 years agoI didn't write this, but I thought it was really well said and thought I'd post it here for other Pitbull lovers.
AN APOLOGY TO BREED BAN ENTHUSIASTS
I'm sorry you are frightened of my dogs and are trying to have them killed because they are pitbulls. I'm sorry you lack the understanding of this breed's true history, gentleness with people, wonderful temperament, intelligence and behavioral conformation. I'm sorry you won't read the ATTS stats regarding our breed's true temperament, putting it in the top four for temperament, scoring better than breeds like Golden Retrievers, and cocker spaniels.
I'm sorry that you side with and protect animal abusers by marking the breed of dog, and not the irresponsibility of the owner. I'm sorry that by your logic I could steal a car, run some people over with it and then you can blame the make of car for the accident, as I walk free.I'm sorry you generalize one breed of dog with one group of people. I'm sorry you can't see the love and determination that many often highly educated, non-criminal and "normal" types of people show towards this breed and the great personal sacrifices that they make to take care of their dog responsibly.
I'm sorry you cannot go into the shelters and see the hundreds of abandoned and abused pitbulls, dying only for the inane "crime" of being born the breed they are. I'm sorry you cannot see the look of disappointment in their eyes as someone walks by their kennel, and refuses to consider adopting them based on an ill educated fear mongering reporter. I'm sorry that you cannot be there when the animal looks at a human for the last time, and in spite of betrayed by all humans they have met, their tail still wags as someone approaches with the syringe of Euthinol.
I'm sorry cannot be there when law enforcement shoots one of your dogs dead inside it's own home in front of the children it mutually loves for simply getting off the dog bed and walking over to say hello with it's tail wagging. I'm sorry you cannot be there to rescue pitbull puppies from a plastic bag in a dumpster, dumped there by someone switching their illegal, and inhumane activities to another, more lucrative breed.
I'm sorry you cannot understand the difference between canine and human aggression, in the way that this breed can. Yes, I'm saying my pitbull is smarter then you.I'm sorry that the medieval witchhunting genetics of intolerance, generalization, and racism make you feel the need to vilify a breed of dog.
I'm sorry that justice, equality, tolerance, common sense are all things you hold dear as a fellow Canadian, and expect from others, but do not yourself offer them towards a pitbull or its caregiver. I'm sorry that you don't take the constructive time to petition changes in the Canadian animal cruelty act, and in the criminal code that would deal out serious punishment to the real animal abusers.
I'm sorry you cannot see the disappointed look on a puppy's face when the people petting it quickly frown, and walk away when you tell them it is a pitbull. I'm sorry you feel the need to terrorize my family and my dogs for crimes we never have and never will commit. I'm sorry you don't have to live in fear of your dog's safety from hysterical, and mentally unstable people trying to inflict all manner of evil upon your dogs.I'm sorry that you cannot see my breed working in some of the best Search and Rescue groups in the world, saving countless lives each year.
I'm sorry our media censors and refuses to print the breed name "pitbull' when in connection with a positive act such as saving a person or child from a burning house, drowning, wild attacking animals, etc. I'm sorry you cannot see the many pitbulls registered as therapy dogs and bringing so much joy to another misunderstood, neglected demographic in our society, the senior citizen. I am sorry you can't see a pitbull kiss a child, step carefully over a kitten, or play in a sunbeam.
I'm sorry you cannot wake in the morning to feel a warm pitbull cuddled next to you in bed, and know that you are their total world, and even if the house caught fire and trapped you, they would stay with you to the end. But, now that I really think about it, I'm not at all sorry you don't own a pitbull--you do not deserve one.

When you guys work on art...
Posted 14 years agoAm I the only artist in the world who likes to be left alone when in the midst of drawing? I have a personal rule when working on art, that I don't like people seeing works in progress or being bothered or talked to when I'm in the middle of art. It really throws off my mojo, especially when I'm in the middle of commissions. Sometimes I feel like a real bitch for being this way, despite it truly not being something I can help. It's the reason I don't do livestreams.
Is there anyone else out there who's like this, or is it just me who's like this? Looking for a little reassurance here.

Adoptables?
Posted 14 years agoI've seen other people on FA do these things, and I was just curious, if I were to do something like this, would anyone be interested? It looks like it would be fun, and I'm good at coming up with cute things and designs, but I don't wanna waste my time if no one would want one.
WHERE MY COYOTES AT!?!? (kind of important)
Posted 14 years agoAs some of you who have been watching me for years might be noticing some slight changes going on with new characters and the like. I stated once before in a previous journal that Sachi was created in a different time and part of my life when I was a very different person. I've grown up and changed in a lot of ways since then and no longer feels she represents me anymore. Sachi is still my character, I'll still draw her and for the sake of still be known as "sachicoon" for my artist name since that's just what everyone knows me as. But I have a very different fusona now...
Over the past few months, I've taken on a real fascination for wild dogs. Somehow I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my own dog, Marlin, is part dingo. And Charlotte, who was a feral dog and lived on her own for Lord knows how long in Nashville, TN is just a badass.
and I have lived out in the woods with these guys since we were married a year and a half ago, now we live in the high desert. And I fucking LOVE IT! In comparison to the mosquito infested, high humidity regions of New England, I'd take the desert any day. It's become my home. We're going to be buying land in the south west region after tax season and start building an actual home out there.
And so, I've decided my new fursona is a white Coyote named Dingo. Dingo for the love of my "wild" dogs, and a Coyote for my love of the desert and the south west. This may not fly with everyone, especially those who have come to love Sachi so much. Remember, she's still my character, just not ME anymore.
SO YEAH I'M A COYOTE NOW AND MY NAME IS DINGO! I'M GONNA GO EAT SOME FUCKING SCORPIONS AND BARK LIKE A MOFO AFTERWARDS!!! :D

Posted 14 years agoI made a slide show music video about my ACD, Marlin! :D
Does anyone know how to embed youtube videos in FA journals?
Posted 14 years agoI've seen it done a few times on here. What's the trick to it? :x
Commission info updated and a note on commissions in general
Posted 14 years agoAs the title says, I revised a few things in my commission info, which can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2995284/ . It doesn't apply to the people who have already paid me and have art in the works, but it's something that will pertain from here on out to future commissioners, which are still OPEN at this time :3
This isn't aimed at any one person in particular. It's just I've gotten a few snarky comments in regards to my prices, and I find it extremely rude. I know plenty of other artists have made journals about this very subject, but it's my turn now too. Remember guys that when I open up for commissions, it's usually during a time when I'm between jobs and is my only source of actual income at that moment in time. Therefore, this is MY JOB. The prices I come up with are prices that I consider to me MORE then fair (my husband actually argues that I'm under charging people) for my level of artistic talent and time. I may not be some big name artist, but I DO put a LOT of TIME AND EFFORT into the work I do to ensure you're getting what you paid for. I greatly appreciate each and everyone of you who choose to commission me, but please respect my prices and what I quote you in the future.

I just have to say...
Posted 14 years agoI honestly can't remember the last time I've seriously cried... Being genuinely happy is a pretty wonderful feeling :)
Back to work, though a bit slow
Posted 14 years agoTurns out my sinus infection has turned into a very painful ear infection that has resulted into a ruptured ear drum :( Back to art, but don't mind me if I'm a bit slow!
Battling a sinus infection x_x
Posted 14 years agoI'm taking a day off on art today, guys. I really didn't want to, but I've been battling a really bad sinus infection for the past 2 days and it only seems to be getting WORSE. It's so bad that it's actually clogged up my right ear completely! More then likely, I may end up going to the doctors when my husband get's home from work. To those who rented me for a week, I'll throw in an extra day to make up for todays lost time.
Gonna go lay down now and hopefully not DIE.

We're finally settled, and it's going to be a while before my job kicks in, so I'm open for commissions!
Go fourth and note me if interested! :D

In AZ and finally settled!
Posted 14 years agoSo we finally arrived back in Flagstaff, AZ after a very long and eventful road trip through the south. Our car ended up breaking down in Van Horn, TX and we were stuck there for a couple of days, waiting on it to be repaired. But we're here now, and I can finally have a life of some sort again!
As far as art goes, I'm going to be spending the rest of the week finishing up various art projects that need to get done, and then I may possibly be opening up art commissions again :D

I think I'm slowly turning into a desert creature....
Posted 14 years agoI've taken quite the liking to the dry, rocky regions of the south west. The more time I spend out here, the more "at home" I feel.
and I are planning to buy some land as early as this summer in the south western parts of Texas to work on a solar energy project we have and to simply have a home base that belongs to us. One of my greatest past times while out here is trotting across the wide open prairies with Ian and our two dogs, Marlin and Charlotte, exploring all the unique plants that are so different then the plants up in the northern forests.
Maybe I'm actually a coyote...

New Orleans! Marfa ghost lights! Arizona!
Posted 14 years agoIt was a real ass kicking job, but we survived the peak holiday season at Amazon! And now that we're loaded with money again, we're leaving KY and heading back to Flagstaff, AZ where Ian will be doing taxes again, but first we're making a detour south to NEW ORLEANS!!!! :D And from there, we're gonna hop the I-10 and head west, while making a quick trip to Marfa, Texas to see the ghost lights. Then to Tuscon, Pheonix, and alas Flagstaff!
TO ADVENTURE!!

Commission Information
Posted 14 years agoI may or may not be opened at this moment for commissions. Please go check out my main page status to see.
I wanted to set up an actual journal on my commission info to send people to who were interested in getting art from me. In the past I've had it so that my commissions were based off donations, but since there are going to be times of the year where this will be my primary source of income, I decided to come up with a set price list.
Please remember that this is just a GUIDE. Prices may increase depending on complexity, and occassionally go on "specials" from time to time, so just be watching my journals.
PRICE LIST:
Quick sketches: $2.50 -These are quick, simple, doodles with no background or color. These can usually be done within an hour or so, depending on time. Example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3731584/
Colored sketches: $5.50 - These are just sketches with color splashed onto them. No shading, no real background, maybe like a single or gradient color. Example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3973687/
Flat colored: $10.50 -In these sorts of pictures, the line art will be clean, the coloring flat, but there will be no shading. Comes with a very basic background. Example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5491556/
Shaded coloring/simple BG: $15.50 - Characters in this will be completely colored, shading, lighting, and all, but the background will be basic. Example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7318082/
Fully colored W/detailed BG: $20.50 - This is will be completely colored and shaded with a detailed background. Example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7275626
Traditional art: $30.00 - Something new I thought I'd offer. Most of my art is digital, but if anyone is interested is an actual hand drawn, sketch book image from me, I can do these too. Will be colored with colored pencils, markers, and outlined with black gel pens. Final picture will then be mailed to you.
Extra characters: $2
WEEKLY AND MONTHLY RENTALS:
Weekly: $75
Monthly: $200
Every now and then, I open up for weekly and monthly rentals :D What this means is you pay me to be your art slave for a week or a month in which I will pump out as many pictures as humanely possible for you within the time frame you paid me for. This includes sketches, fully colored images, doodles, and everything in between. ONLY thing this doesn't include is traditional art. Every day there will be atleast one new picture for you, and can be either art you request or art that you want me to come up with.
WHAT I CAN, WILL, AND WON'T DRAW:
I can draw any species, anthro or feral and my art ranges from general audiances to X-rated. There really isn't anything I won't draw, however some of the more "controvercial" subject matters that go against my morals will cost extra and will be done in private and not uploaded to my gallery. Please ask me what these may be if you are wondering.
TIME:
When I open up for commissions, generally it's during a point where I have a lot of free time, but alas, things DO come up that might slow me down. Commissions can take anywhere from a couple of days to 2 months depending on time and complexity of the image. I can give you a better idea of how long it will take me at the time we discuss your commission.
PAYMENT METHODS:
Payments I request to be made up front through paypal. My paypal address is snowcoon[at]hotmail.com

Anyone in need or want of money? Looking to commission x3
Posted 14 years agoSo now that I'm working this job that pays really well, I have a little bit of cash I'd like to spend on some artwork. Feral artists are preferred. Send me a note with a link to your price lists and we'll talk! ^_^
Up next.... CDL school in Detroit?
Posted 14 years agoSo
and I have been in KY, working for Amazon.com fulltime for the past couple weeks now, and let's just say we're NOT poor anymore :D We've been working REALLY hard, but it pays extremely well and the managers appreciate everything you do. Such a change from my days working for Petco :) And with overtime about to kick in, we're REALLY going to be rolling in the dough, so if anyone is open for commissions and in need/want of money, drop me a line with some examples and prices and we'll talk :3
After this, we'll be heading to Flagstaff, AZ in Janary, (but not before making a brief stop into New Orleans for new years eve), where my dearly beloved Ian will be working tax season and I'll resume work at the college. After all this... WEST COAST TRAVEL TIME BABY!!!!! :D :D Ian is gonna take me to see the Red Woods and other various things I've only ever heard about. Then after that, possibly work in Texas for a month as gate guards for an oil field.
While all this is going on, and the money is a great kick start, we really want something more solid. We have been considering going to a CDL school in Detroit to get our CDL licenses and becoming truck drivers. We'd be working as a team, which is highly sought after in the trucking industry, and a lot of companies allow you to bring your family and pets along. We currently work with a lot of retired people who were truck drivers in their younger days, and highly recommend it to us.
If nothing else, it opens the door of opportunity to a lot of other kinds of jobs, and will help us learn to maneuver RVs better, which is what we want.
Ah, the life of having no ties to anything. So many options <3

Dear FA
Posted 14 years agoSo earliar tonight I SAW THE NORTHERN LIGHTS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN MY LIFE!!!! I was outside, trying to catch a wifi signal on my iPod, when I looked up and there it was!! For those that don't know or remember, it was one of my biggest dreams to see the aurora. I was suppose to go to Alaska in 2009 to visit my big sister in Fairbanks, and she promised we'd watch them, but when she came down with cancer and passed away a few months later, I thought that dream would never happen. Tonight that goal can be checked off life's list of amazing things I want to see before I die.
I fucking love life!

Update on Marlin and his seizures
Posted 14 years agoFor those who had been wondering/worrying about Marlin, I wanted to give you all an update on him. We made it to Kentucky last week and about 2 days after, Marlin had a second seizure. The second one wasn't nearly as bad as the first, but we were able to catch it on video.
For those curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_urqTC3ITVM
The next day we got him into a really nice vet in town and after running some tests, he was diagnosed with having epilepsy. There's worse things in life he could have I suppose, and he's on a medication that will help control it. Outside of this, he's very much happy and enjoying life. Any one who has any advice for me on epilepsy in dogs, of course I'm all ears :)

Thank you
Posted 14 years agoTo everyone who commissioned or donated to me in Marlin's name, thank you. Aside from my nephew having a seizure a few years back that I wasn't even around for initially, I have zero experience with them, so this was a very traumatic experience for me, and to make matters worse, it occurred while we're in the middle of a large out of state move.
Marlin is doing much better and nothing has happened since, but as I type this, we're hauling ass to Kentucky, where the first thing we'll be doing as soon as we arrive is getting some blood work done at the vets to see if there's any internal issues going on with him that might have caused this. Let's hope this was just a freak incident and that he's fine and nothing happens again.
To those that commissioned me, I'll be getting in touch with you by the end of the weekend to discuss your artwork, and offer something that I never offer to people online. An added something special to show my gratitude.

EMERGENCY COMMISIONS - my dog just had a seizure!!
Posted 14 years agoWhat a fine, fine time for this to happen -_- My poor dog, Marlin, just had a seizure on my mom's living room floor and needs to see a vet ASAP. The problem here is that we're moving to kentucky tonight to start work on Monday and have JUST enough money to make the road trip...$200.
I was closed for commissions for the season, but am opening them back up because he needs to see a vet ASAP and we don't have the money for it at this point in time! Prices are based on donations. Pay whatever you can and tell me what you'd like. Please note me ASAP!

Commissions closed after this week
Posted 14 years agoI'm finishing up what I have left this week, and after that will be closed for commissions for probably a few months. We're leaving for Kentucky on the 28th of this month, where we'll be starting up fulltime work again and I just won't have much time for anything else. Hopefully I'll have time to do some of my own art while out there! :#
