Updates for the week
Posted 11 years agoThis weekend did not go as I had planned at all. I got very little work done on commissions; which made me terribly upset.
Saturday- Went up to see my boyfriend as well as do a store run to pick up some supplies that I needed for my commissions. Furmeet for bowling that night, plus having a small pow wow with other staff members for GLFC.
Sunday-My grandparents are currently working on moving smaller items from their house to their condo. This weekend my mother went over and was telling them she was taking the bedset from the spare bedroom. 1950's bed with mattresses, two dressers, a nightstand, and some misc stuff. Well fast forward and my grandfather is calling saying we can come get it today. So that was how most of my day was spent. rearranging furniture in two houses, and lugging it around. In the process my work room was completely ripped apart to get the new (and larger) bed put in. So my work space has now become much smaller and I have had to rearrange almost everything to make this space work for me now.
However! This week I plan on getting a few things underway and have some good progress made.
-I have the jaguar tail to pattern
-Wolf tail to sew
-balaclavas to sew for heads
-create the basic foam structure for the RC rats that are due mid March
-Compile my items to photograph for Jafax artist alley submission.
Right now this is a very busy period for me. Not only do I do my sewing and fursuit making but I also hold down a full time job. I usually can squeeze in 3-4 hours before work and after 8 hours there I try to get in 1-2 hours more work done. Please try and bare with me if I cannot get updates as fast as I would like. I was not expecting to have two full days of work time taken from me.
I do have Fri-Sun off this coming weekend, and I plan on using every one of those days off to hit the grindstone with the commissions I have. Thank you all for being so patient!

Commission update
Posted 11 years agoCommission queue is currently full, I may take on smaller projects such as tails, ears, fleece hats; but partials and head slots are full.
I'm currently getting over a horrible cold that has lasted a whole week, so I am a little slow on getting started.
I ordered the necessary fur for all the suits and even received some of it already in the mail.
Distinctive Fabrics is once again being a butt and Im always so worried I wont receive the correct fabric, or that something will be horribly wrong with it. Seriously DF get better customer service!
Went to the stores and got other necessary supplies that are needed so time to start slicing some foam and patterning out heads!
I also have two rc Rats that I need to work on for a play that is due by the middle of next month. They shouldn't really interrupt any progress on the other projects either.
Here's to a productive next few months with these projects. I got some fun stuff ahead for me.

GLFC con report
Posted 11 years ago
, and I all arrived at GLFC late Thursday afternoon. After getting checked in we went down to the registration and helped finish setting things up, as well as making signs and helping with the badges. The rest of the night went quietly, we ordered food in and went swimming. I think that Thursday night was the latest night that I stayed up the whole weekend.
Friday morning and we went down to the free breakfast that was included. I wasn't expecting it, but the breakfast was really nice. After that I sat down across from registration and helped Lafrin with stuffing the con book bags. Hyler and Xavier were doing security so I didn't see them very much.
My panel I felt was a total flop. I had 1 1/2 hours to fill. I figured would be no problem, I had enough material and I figured I was allowing enough time for the questions that I was sure to receive. Well I got through all of my material and figured I would have the last 30 minutes or so for questions....and nobody had any! So the panel got cut a little short. But people were coming up to me throughout the rest of the con and said I did a wonderful job! So not a total waste after all!
Friday night I worked the con suite and had a great time. Though I couldn't tell you how to change a tap if my life depended on it! Luckily, I had several people in there at all times that knew how to so I didn't have to worry about breaking the one and only working tap we had. The biggest issue was the group of cheer leaders and the equestrian team that was also staying in the hotel, so extra security to make sure that things went smoothly!
Saturday was kind of a blur. I was basically just running around and helping with the convention. And talking with the staff members about what can be done to improve things for next year to make them even better. For a first year con this even went really well to be honest. I worked con suite again that evening and had a very lovely chat with
and also received a gorgeous silver coyote pelt from her. This thing is bigger then my other one, and I love how fur looks. We also briefly talked about doing some panels together next year, which I think will improve them immensely, especially the fursuit building one.The parade went well, and you know that the hotel staff loves you when they are telling you not to start until they can all be there to see it. I also thought that the ear tags that the suiters were given were a really nice touch.
Sunday was the day that I felt like I had a hangover, even though I had not had a drink all weekend. It was a very sluggish day but I at least got to set up in Artist Alley for a few hours. Sold mostly bandanas but also got a tail commission and two hoodie commissions I look forward to working on. Around 6ish we left the convention, they seemed to have things covered and we were all so tired that getting home was the best thing for us to do.
Overall the convention was fun and for it being the first year I can only see it continuing to grow from here. I am super excited to be helping with the convention and being more than just a volunteer next year. That's right, I will be helping staff the convention as well! I truly love doing it, and it gives me something to do at the con besides just spending money, and doing the little bit of drinking that I do.
TL;DR- GLFC was awesome and I encourage anyone that can to go next year and see how much we can improve from there!
GLFC meme time!
Posted 12 years agoGreat Lakes Fur Con is a first year con in Grand Rapids, Michigan in February. This will be the first con that I am really participating in outside of just showing up and wandering around. I encourage everyone that has a slight interest to come check it out. This con has a water park in it! I mean how can you go wrong with a water park? Either way, this convention sounds like it is going to be a blast, and I cannot say how excited I am to see how this convention goes.
GLFC Meme
Where are you staying?
The main hotel
What day are you getting there?
Thursday evening…probably closer to six or sevenish
How long are you going?
Leaving Sunday night
How are you traveling?
Driving. Not too far of a drive for me.
Who will you be rooming with?
On Friday
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Probably mostly, Hyler and Xavier, Chrono, Nuka,Dray….most of the locals that I normally hang out with because the list would be way to freaking long!
What do you look like?
I’m a woman. Ummm might have red hair by then. Or I’m a demon wolf.
What is your gender?
Female
How tall are you?
5’9” (how is this relevant to a convention meme?)
How is the best way to find you?
I will be having a panel so that should be easy enough. Or I will be selling in the artist alley, or working the fursuit changing area.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Say Hey, hello, sometimes a poke on the shoulder if you are coming from behind.
Will you be going to parties?
Probably not. I mean who is going to be partying when there is a waterpark in the hotel!?
Will you be fursuiting?
When I can squeeze it in around everything else.
Do you do free art/trades/commissions?
I don’t do much in terms of drawing anymore. However, I am open for fursuit commissions and will have business cards on me.
Can I talk to you?
Sure, if I am busy at the time I am always open to chatting later though.
Can I touch you?
If I don’t really know you, that is not okay. Whether I am in suit or out of suit please respect me and ask before you touch or hug or anything else.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs, sure. Snuggles are reserved for
only
Can I visit your room?
If I know you very well then yes. If you are a random person showing up at my door….no
Can I buy you drinks?
Sure why not. I have never had anyone buy me a drink before. :D
Are you nice?
I’d like to think I am nice. Most people seem to think so.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
I will be selling in artist alley. Helping run the fursuit changing area. And also will be doing a panel on Friday at 4:30 PM on fursuit building. If you are interested swing by.
What/where will you be eating?
Well there are a lot of places around there. I think Xavier and I are for sure going to be hitting up Olga’s kitchen. Was going to maybe try and get a group to do sushi, but I might save that for another day.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If a group is going sure you can come along. But normally I only take close friends, nothing personal; just don’t really like eating in front of people I don’t know.
Can I take your picture?
I guess so. IF I am in suit I say go for it!!! IF I’m not in suit, please ask; it is just kind of creepy to just take pictures of people.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
To socialize, maybe wander around on my own. I’ve never done a panel so I am a little nervous about it, so hoping to do well there as well.

Special Deal- Fursuit head
Posted 12 years agoTo start off the New Year I wanted to do something a little different. I want to practice expanding my toony head making and would like to take a project on. The deal is that I will take one head commission at cost of materials and shipping alone. This would a huge discount compared to what I would normally charge for a fursuit head.
I normally wouldn’t do this, but I want to try a few different foam sculpting ideas, and would like to play around with a few new ways of styling eyes and ears.
I’d also like to play around with some unusual colors. Lately I have done a lot of natural colored suits, so I wouldn’t mind having some that has some purple, blues, or any colors not normally found in nature.
This is not a raffle and not on a first-come-first-serve. What you do is put up the reference of the character you want. At the end of the posting time I will go through the references and pick the character that I want to work with. If more than one character catches my attention I may even take on an extra one!
The deal is for a toon style head.
• Foam on balaclava
• 3D follow me eyes
• Static Jaw
Sorry, no realistic heads this time around!
Since this is going to be at cost I will require payment either up front, or broken up into only 2-3 payments max. You must also be 18 or older in order to purchase a suit from me. My TOS can be found on my website: http://snowleopard-creations.webs.com/
I won’t start on the suit until after February 9th because that is when my queue will be empty and I will have the convention that I am helping with out of the way, that way I can give full attention to the commission.
I will close this posting on the 25th of January and will pick a winner by the 27th.
You can upgrade to a partial but the other pieces will not be at cost. Only the head is part of the deal.

Day Five no Power
Posted 12 years agoOn Saturday the power at my house went out because of the crazy ice storm that we had.
We were told we would have power back by Christmas Eve but that was a no go. They bumped it to Today and still no power, now they are telling us tomorrow. I'm honestly not holding my breath on that one either.
I know there are alot of people without power due to this crazy storm, and I'm grateful for the people that are out in this weather trying to fix it.
But I am starting to get concerned about our water pipes and other things going wrong. We already have most of our food put in boxes on our patio. The only way to keep warm is with the fireplace insert we have in our living room. Currently my family is all crammed into one little room.
This has also slowed down any potential work I could have gotten done this week. I can't run a shaver or my machine to finish up the commission I was going to deliver this Saturday which really ticks me off. I have some hats done at least, but I had those done before the power outage; it has been the snowfall and ice that has kept me from driving anywhere other than work.
I'm just sick of this already. I can't go anywhere or do anything because my parents tell me that I need to stay and help tend the fire and haul wood and the like (but my sister gets to go out and stay with her boyfriend). The most I have gotten out of this house was to go to my grandparents to get some water, shower, and charge my computer.
I'm not holding out for tomorrow being any better either.

MFF come and gone
Posted 12 years agoI will say that this year I am kind of having mixed emotions with the convention. It was fun in a way, in other ways I am glad it is done and over with.
The trip getting there was a little stressful and tiring. After we got to the hotel, the checking in process actually went quite smoothly; getting up to the room was another matter. I got split up with my three roommates and had to wait at least 40 mins to get on, because people kept jumping on in front of me; even with having the staff monitoring the elevators.
After getting up to the hotel room things started to relax a bit. Xavier and I had tea, and we also had brought a rice cooker that took a lot of food problems out of the way.
Programming was okay, however the crowd there was an issue. Many people did seem to have the con funk going on, and most of them were very rude this year. I have never had an issue getting on an elevator when I needed to get up to my room in fursuit, until this con. One time I was waiting to get up to my room to desuit because I was becoming disoriented and had people push right past me, also had one guy stop me for hugs and PICK ME UP while in suit! Needless to say I was pissed, and nearly cussed him out on the floor.
I did get some treasures from the dealer's den, as well as presents for Hyler, so I can't complain too much in that aspect. Also, had a lovely Advanced fursuit making panel, and a cleaning fursuit panel right after on Sunday. That was a really nice way to end the con for sure.
The next cons will be GLFC and MCFC and I'm looking forward to those.

Scouting for general interest
Posted 12 years agoEvery time I go to conventions, whether it is an anime, furry, or any other kind of convention I always see girls (and some guys!) digging through bags and purses to find wallets or other things.
I'm currently sewing up some smaller bags with longer straps, and two pockets in the front.
They would run about $15-20 apiece and close at the top by a little button loop.
I'm just curious if anyone would be interested
I also do giant tote bags that are large enough to hold a partial fursuit or clothes or whatever for $40
And I also do pillowcases for $15 that way you won't be arguing over who's pillow is whos at a convention.
If anyone would be interested let me know!

MFF good news bad news
Posted 12 years agoMFF is so close I can almost taste it.
However, I did end up having to pull my piece from the art show. There was just no way I could finish the piece in time because of some issues with a few of the pieces needing some work.
Also, Hyler won't be able to go so I don't need to finish his suit up for the con, but will hopefully have it as a full suit soon!
On another note. GHIMNO, CHRONO...and ANYONE ELSE that was talking to me about commissions lately, I would love to talk with you all at the conventions. :) Especially Ghimno because I never get to see him now that he has moved D:
Even though I didn't get a chance to show my piece in the artshow, I am going to try and push to get it done and at least wear it around the con a little bit to show it off; and hopefully get people interested in it since I do intend to sell it after the convention.
Right now the hellhound only has hands, tail, and head, but the buyer will have a chance to upgrade to armsleeves and feetpaws too!
See you all in two weeks!

Thoughts and Opinions
Posted 12 years agoA quick question for those that are interested in fursuit making.
In Feb, I am attending a convention and thinking about hosting a panel for Basic fursuit crafting.
It would cover basic tutorials, different types of fursuits, and basic materials to use.
I am wondering what kinds of things that people would be interested in, or not interested in hearing someone drone on about at the panel.
Also, I would love to have some examples of suits if possible. So if some people would like to help me with the panel I would love that!

Personal vent/rant (unecessary to read)
Posted 12 years agoHaving a really shitty time lately so just a personal rant as my creative juices have been down lately.
I feel like I’m always kind of on the outside of things looking in. Like I have maybe 2 or 3 people that I talk to, and really only 1 person on a consistent bases, and everyone else I see maybe once a month to once a year. I just feel kind of depressed about the whole thing, because I feel like the friends I do have are either always running off to hang with people, or they are always chatting with people and getting to do fun stuff.
I rarely go out on weekends with people, and if I do it is maybe for an hour. Usually I wake up in the afternoon, go work closing at my job, come home, if I’m lucky talk to someone for 30 mins before they head off to bed; and then I am left to my own devices until I get tired. This also seems to be the case on weekends, though instead of going out and having fun, I might run to a craft store or two, run some errands, then come home and work on sewing or some other projects to try and sell. It’s kind of depressing when even my coworkers sit around, while I’m there; talk about hanging out with eachother and going out partying and whatnot, and then not even glance in my direction.
My sleep schedule has been lacking to say the least, falling asleep at 5-6 am, and waking up around noon or 1pm. I guess it shouldn’t bug me that much. I mean, I do a closing shift at a shitty job I wish I didn’t have to deal with anymore; but I’ve always been a night owl kind of person. After November I plan on looking around for some different jobs, or at least get transferred to a different store that is closer and will hopefully take down the stress level a few notches.
Lately, I’ve been struck with friends who are moving on with their lives, moving out on their own, having babies, getting married, graduating from college, leaving the state..Heck, even the country. I on the other hand, live at home, work a part time job, only have my associates of art from a community college, and have no ability to move out on my own anytime soon. Even my artwork lately has provided very little in comfort. I see people who just show up on the scene, make one piece and suddenly everyone commissions them; I make a few pieces, show my skills, and provide what I consider very fair pricing; and am just left behind. It is very frustrating to know that what I want to do with the rest of my life is costuming, but I can’t even get anyone to buy what I create.
I really hope things do change for me soon. I appreciate the people that have been there for me and support me. I don’t want a pity party. I just need to vent from time to time and I don’t really have anyone I can fully vent everything too…

I just need to vent from time to time and I don’t really have anyone I can fully vent everything too…
No more FCN
Posted 12 years agoI am very upset that FCN is no more. It was a sad way to wake up this morning. This con has given me many fun memories and was always a great way to meet and hang out with friends that I had made. It was also where Hyler and I really got to meet.
No April's fool, no crazy joke set up, FCN will not be returning in 2014 and I am saddened to lose such a great convention.

Adoptable Fursuits?
Posted 12 years agoI have a few designs I would like to do for fursuits. DO you think I should do them as premades? Or should I try and do adoptables. Where people adopt the design of the suit and I make it (slight alterations included).
One of the ideas would be a black and white wolf
A realistic artic fox
A sabertooth cat (not sure on coloring yet)
Any ideas or contemplations on the matter?
I will also be listing the goat I made for sale, sometime in the next two weeks. So keep an eye out for him!

Updated Quote Form
Posted 12 years agoSo, my original quote form I hated the way I had to work with it so I updated it to a google document.
I'm going to see if this is easier, and much friendlier for both the potential customer, and myself.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Ze.....-I3hs/viewform
This is kind of new to me, so if you check it out and see something that should be added or changed, please let me know!

Back from FCN!
Posted 12 years agoFCN this year was certainly an interesting con for me.
I had a lot of fun with friends new and old. I love being able to see all the furs that I only ever get to hang out with maybe once or twice a year.
There were a few headaches, but I suppose that is what being a con mom is all about!
I can say that I had a wonderful time though. I debuted my demon wolf and got a wonderful reaction. My favorite compliment was someone asking if it was a Clockwork Creature! OH my god I was tickled pink at that!!!!
But back to normal routine, and getting some more fursuits done. I will probably be listing the goat soon, which kind of makes me sad, because I hate to see it go. But I know someone else will get a lot more love out of it.
I am looking forward to MFF and seeing a lot of people all over again!
Also, probably will be going out for the Furry barbecue next month on the east side. I'm crossing my fingers that I will get the time off from work for it!

Busy Busy Busy
Posted 12 years agoOnly 8 more days until I leave for FCn and I still have so much left on my plate, with probably only 2 days off of work between now and then.
I still have to finish up the demon wolf
FInish up airbrushing the face,
finish neck
insert zipper
second foot
Aka's hand paws and armsleeves
just need airbrushing and to sew up the other hand
Have to get some badges done, as well as pack, baking, and hoping to heck that my new debit card comes in time due to someone stealing my information. :/
Also, I now have a $600 transmission repair bill on my car, but that should all be taken care of by the end of the week.
A very full plate indeed, but I'm going to power through it as fast and efficiently as possible!

Winners of the raffle
Posted 12 years agoPartial Fursuit Raffle
Posted 12 years agoMy 1000 pageview is coming up shortly so I wanted to do something special for it. I toyed with the idea of doing a screenshot, but I decided that a raffle would be a lot more fun, and give people a chance to win. Until I reach the 1000 pageview this contest will be open.
The winner will receive a $100 discount on a partial suit, or $50 of just a fursuit head. That means instead of $500 for a partial, you will only pay $400, and for a head, instead of $300 you will only pay $250.
The fursuit will entail:
-Toony foam fursuit head (fleece tongue, follow-me eyes, fleece or sculpey nose)
-Handpaws with fleece pawpads
-1 Tail
-Feetpaws (optional, winner must send me shoes to ensure the correct sizing)
The winner must still pay shipping for the costume piece.
The Rules of the contest are as follows:
-You must be watching me
-Create a journal to spread the word, and link it to me in your comment
-Give a ref sheet for the character who you want a partial made of
But there is more to this piece, there will be two winners for this contest. One winner will receive the fursuit discount, the other will receive two badges of their character, for just helping advertise this contest. If you just want to help advertise and do not want the fursuit discount, add that into your comment, you will still be eligible for the art.
Finally if you have read this entire post and understand add "turnips" in your comment.

Base came today
Posted 12 years ago11 days later my mother woke me up from a dead sleep and threw the box on the bed containing the base I had ordered from Victoria. I will be working on that and seeing about making it into a premade to sell here in the near future.
On another note I have a bit of a cold, sore throat, etc going on so I might be a little slower than normal on work.Right now I still have about half a plush to finish, as well as working on my partial for FCN.
We will see how this next week goes, hopefully the cold will come and go quickly enough that i don't have to worry.

Hacking up fake hairballs
Posted 12 years agoIn the past few days I have gotten a lot of projects well underway while I wait for supplies for my trade and commissions to come in.
My goat partial is almost done, just a little more detail sewing to do around the muzzle area. Debating on adding armsleeves to it as well. I can honestly say that I am going to be really sad when I sell this guy off, he has turned out absolutely adorable.
I have also worked on a plush that I may put up for sale as well, this guy is an adorable wolf that is currently..well in pieces...I'm waiting on joints to come in, along with the eyes so I can get started on the plush that I am making for Static.
There have been a few smaller projects that have been done, but basically all have resulted in lots of fur being cut and little pieces going everywhere. I think I have breathed way more than is probably healthy.
Update and WIP pictures will be up soon as I can get some decent quality shots in.
