We got a delivery of fish from Ireland for florfenicol testing and these were whole fish, heads, guts the lot - very fresh though. The other analysts are a bit squeamish so I said I'd prep them.

I was poking with my scalpel around the fishes guts and I remembered something my biology teacher told us about lenses being really tough so I got too enthusiastic and started playing with one of the fishes eyes.

I squeezed a little too hard with my tweezers and was promptly covered with eye juice all down my lab coat XD It was all black and made a big mess down my front D:

Last week after months of playing with my pokeradar on Platinum and caught not one but TWO shiny pokemon.

I was so totally shocked D: Now, this leaves me with a tough decision: what do I evolve them into?

The first shiny I caught was a male Ralts with a neutral nature. Later in the week I caught a male Oddish, again, neutral natured.

Now I think I'll evolve ralts into gallade since I've already trained a gardevoir - but I really like gardevoirs.

I really don't know what to evolve my oddish into. Shiny bellossoms look cool but I kinda prefer vileplumes. I already have a trained vileplume in LeafGreen and he's really awesome so I'm kinda tempted to train him to be a bellossom.

Kaz thinks I should go with gallade and bellossom. I'm not sure...

BIG NEWS - we've actually structured our work!!!

We have come up with a new commission structure using two queues a commission queue and a waiting queue, it will work as the following

We will now be opening 5 slots at a time at a selective point of the year.
Those not picked or have expressed interest between openings will be put on a waiting queue and will get early notification of our opening or of any cancellations.
Each commission will be given a 2 month work slot, (might seem like a long time but we both work full time) we will ask for the deposit 1 month before work is to begin which must be paid within 2 weeks of the request. (this give us two weeks to request the deposit of the next person in the commission queue if you fail to pay)
If you cannot pay, or do not pay, your slot will be offered to the next person in the commission queue and you will be placed at the end of the waiting queue.

Last might, I found my first shiny in Pokemon white.

After only 21 hours of gameplay whilst power-levelling my water monkey, I found.... a shiny Trubbish :D

This is the first shiny I've found during the main game. Well, the first one that didn't kill itself :/ The other two legit shinies I have were found during EV training my toxicroak and getting through Victory Road to catch Shaymin

I'm actually really happy it's a Trubbish because I love poison types and I will probably use him too (unlike my shiny kricketune ><). He has the stench ability, which disappointed me at first but now it actually has an in-battle effect. His nature is naive (+speed, -SpDef) so, maybe not the best there.

But I WILL LOVE MY LITTLE FARTY BAG :D

Firstly, an update

 macenziewolf - head is done
 namugriff - bodysuit and feet will be ready for the 5th March LFM and possibly handpaws too.
 rekhit - waiting on fur to continue with head. Feethooves are being foamed and handpaws are awaiting claws.
 Grizsylverwing - Griz head started. Tanon feet started.
 foxconvoy - lion head - waiting on fur payment.

Everything will be ready by Confuzzled if not before.

IMPORTANT COMMISSION INFORMATION.

Due to changes in my work pattern, Kaz and I WILL NOT be taking on any more commissions until after Confuzzled.
This includes tails and paws.

Basically, I'm having a lot of difficulty balancing commission work with my normal job due to a large increase
(almost three-fold per day) of samples received in my lab. Long story short, I'm having to work 11 hour days
plus weekends at short notice.

We will start taking commissions again once my work pattern has settled down.

ShadowSani posted on Livejournal showing off her new heads - fair enough. She requested no critiques because they were done, she liked them, the commissioner liked them etc.
Some people said OK, shame you won't take critiques because it would help you improve a lot. She gets her arse in her hand and deletes the post.
SO, she reposted with a lot of gumpf about "respect my choice for no critique" so because she made so much fuss about the critique that that was all people replied to.

She explicitly said "I prefer for people who can actualy SEE and OWN my works to give crits" (direct quote)
So I posted "I've seen your work - I won't give crits cos you don't listen." (I had to shit-stir)

She replied "i've seen your work up close too, and can also offer ALOT of crits"

Hmmmm

Don't get me wrong, I'm not high and mighty enough that I can't take critique - please critique away - I like to improve. I just want to know which of my suits she has seen up close and how she thinks I can improve.

Hey all,
I'm just testing the water to see if anyone would like to commission me for a pokemon bead sprite? I'm hesitant to do this because I don't have a good colour range at the moment (until I get some perler beads) so I may not be able to make some pokemon with a lot of greys or blues - sorry vaporeon and onix fans ><

Price wise, I was thinking £3 each plus shipping for a mystery dungeon or Pokemon link sprite. I don't really want to game sprites at the moment due to the time they take and the size they can get to.

Alternatively, if there's a dungeon or link sprite I've already made that you like I'm willing to sell them for the same price (except ariados and sandslash - they're alllll mine).

So, any interest out there?

Finally got a new memory card for the camera so I'll be posting some more pics soon - some good close-ups of Strawberry's head for starters :) as I only have the few taken from the last LF meet and from Redwood con. I have finally properly nailed the husky tail template :D I'll post a pic of Namugriff's shortly.

Redwood was fun - it was really great meeting new people and catching up with old friends. It would have been more fun if the music was better and the damn smoke machine wasn't on :( The best part was dancing with Sacred to the milkshake song which was filmed but I haven't seen yet... it was uploaded to twitter but I'm not a sheep so I'm not on twitter.

I have the hump with the bead sprites - the colour palette is kind of poor. I could get perler beads from the US but I'm really sick of importing from there, waiting a week for delivery or longer if it caught in customs *sigh* I am trying to persist and do the best I can with what I have though. Ironing them makes me really frustrated too since it seems that no matter how long or carefully I iron them I still have to re-assemble them when I turn them over to iron the back.

On a positive note, I'm hoping that Kaz and I will have a website up soon :3

Terms of Service

We are only able to take a very limited number of projects. Unfortunately, this means that we have to pick and choose the projects that we work on so if we are unable to work with you, please don't take it personally! All we want is to do your character justice. We are unable to make realistic characters at this time.
You will have to provide clear, accurate concept artwork so that we know exactly what you're looking for. A multi-angled reference sheet with a good headshot and clear information on details is ideal. Please remember, we really want to make you happy with your product, so we need to see what you actually want it to look like. "What we see is what you get".
Once construction has started, major changes cannot be made.
We will not accept conbadges, sketches or links to another person’s suit as a reference
We will not make copyrighted characters or copy another makers’ suit.
We will not make ‘mature’ items.
We prefer all correspondence to be made through email.

Payment

All quotes and prices are provided in GBP.
When we agree to work on your project, you'll be required to send a 30% non-refundable deposit. This allows us to purchase the materials needed for your project. Again, this deposit cannot be returned! The remaining 70% is due at time of completion. We are flexible and can offer payment plans on the remaining 70%. Shipping is not included in your quote price.
We accept payment via Paypal or personal check if from the UK. Your costume must be paid off in full before it is sent to you.
For tails, feetpaws/handpaws - you can pay upfront, or pay at the end. But full payment is required before your item is sent to you.
Refunds and Cancellations
An order can be cancelled at any time. If an order is cancelled, you can either receive a refund of all received payments EXCEPT the initial 30% deposit, which is NONREFUNDABLE or opt to have unfinished work shipped to them.
If choosing to have unfinished work sent, you must agree to a 'final cost' equivalent to the amount of what that has been completed. For example: If 50% of the work is complete, 50% of the final cost (NOT including the initial 30% deposit) is due.
If choosing the REFUND: Any work done will be kept by us and will be completed and sold (with alterations so it will not be your character). When choosing a REFUND you may not claim any rights to the project, how it is completed or how it is sold.

Shipping
We will ship items using Royal Mail unless the customer has stated otherwise. We cannot be held responsible for any items lost in the post so we highly recommend shipping with tracking and insurance. We are not responsible for any import fees incurred.


PLEASE NOTE that Kaz and I both work full time so we can only do fursuit work at the weekends. This means that we cannot provide a fast turnaround. We aim to have items such as tails and handpaws made in 1-2 weeks and feetpaws in 2-3 weeks. Heads and partial suits we aim to complete within 4 months.

Yeah, totally late on the Confuzzled thing, keep it short - it was great fun except for one or two little annoyances. Made friends with a tipsy pair of ladies who thought Skye was the cutest thing ever ^^

Got some good feedback on my suits, nothing fell apart thankfully, just a loose claw on Moshi's handpaw. I will be making padded trousers to help Rega and Moshi get into their suits more easily and this will also stop the padding moving about.

The new era thing? Probably just exaggerating a bit :) I've learnt a few things while making the last few suits about padding and airbrushing and such and I feel I'm ready to move on a bit and become more professional. Kaz and I have invested in a new gluegun and airbrush kit (with compressor) and I'm in the process of going through my templates and replacing the ones that are falling apart.

I'm still keen to do a few more personal projects (Kiki will be my next suit hopefully) and I have a few commissions from friends for tails and paws. I'll hopefully be selling in the dealers den at RBW soI want to make things for that and I want to set up a little shop on www.thedealersden.com auction site.

I still find the thought of doing partial and fullsuit commissions a little scary - I don't want to make something and have the customer shout at me because it's falling apart :( but I also find them exciting to do. So I think I'll be taking it slow on the commission front, one slot to start in June and finish late July/early August and one to start late August and finish early October-ish.  namugriff has dibs on the June slot, if he still wants it :)

Following this post will be a boring post with my terms of service in it. Probably boring but it needs to be read if you want to commission me :)

I finished Rega's wings tonight (sorry I can't post a picture yet, I don't have any decent lighting) and celebrated by playing with my new karaoke microphone headset and custom CD!!! Unfortunately, one of the tracks I selected was Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul and it was female singer only - DJ Skat Kat's lyrics were pre-recorded and some of the lyrics were changed needlessly. I was really looking forward to duetting with Kaz to that song so now I have to put up with the Lips version :(

So, last week Kaz and I took Noah's finished bodysuit and my Skye suit along to the LF meet. It was the first time I've suited properly in public and it was a total blast. I didn't know how kids would react to Skye - he's not really a toony happy suit but some kids really liked him. Heck, I missed my break because there were a handful of kids who didn't want to stop hugging me :D

One kid decided that I was a flying horse-cow *facepaw*

Oh, and a huge hug and thanks to Rega who was my spotter for the walk *big dragon hugs*

Noah's fullsuit was very well recieved too :) We had lots of lovely comments about it including the question "Is this an Arend Studios suit?" My head kind of exploded then.

Still got a lot of work to do by Confuzzled.....

So, I've just uploaded a few little examples of my work :) I don't have many species to show at the moment but I'll keep badgering away and create some more - I want to make a little bobcat tail and a badger tail - oh and a dragon tail for myself ^^

I have all but one of the ducttape dummies (except for one but I'll pick that up at the next LF meet). Kaz and I spent Saturday at Fox convoy's for a DTD party and yes I have embarrassing photos. They'll be posted tomorrow and to save a little embarrassment of those involved they'll go in my scraps... unless anyone wants their taped up bodies on the front page :P

Last week was really productive for me :) Christmas aside.
Work on Noah's head is 98% complete - the eyes will be completed and affixed tonight and there will be pictures :D

Also, our spare room (teh fuuuurrry room) was sorted at long last. The week before Christmas I had some fur delivered, the last fur needed for Fox Convoy's bodysuit, unfortunately this meant that our spare room was at critical mass. So, last Wednesday and Thursday was spent sorting and clearing. Kaz and I are both big time hoarders so we had to be really ruthless and ended up getting rid of 8 binbags of rubbish.

At least now we can get into our spare room and we are no longer on the verge of creating a furry black hole :P

Since finishing Roo, I've been considering our position in terms of being commissionable. It's something we're both being cautious about. I've been making a Terms of Service thing which I'll post soon - just to cover our asses if we do decide to start doing partial and head commissions. I'll be updating my user info too to try and make things look a little more professional.
