Lastly, COMMISSION STATUS UPDATES! As said in my previous journals, getting Bassline Reloaded out meant I had to take some time off commission work otherwise it would simply have never happnened! Yeah… I’m a bit behind schedule.. My new Bassline mix (along with it’s artwork) was supposed to come out by now. However for about 2 weeks straight of September I was really depressed and as a result, was unmotivated / unhappy with my artwork.. I feel a lot better right now just saying, But yeah.. As some of you might have realized by now. This year so far has been like 75% commission work for me. This is fine as it is currently my only source of income besides Patreon (which really helps me out btw) However because of the large queue of commissions and the amount of time it takes for me to do one finished art piece (or even a sketch).. (Which is tiringly long btw) I have had little to no time with personal projects.

I'm going to be taking September (this coming month starting tomorrow) to focus on doing a large scale illustration/graphic design project for my latest mixtape.

...And I already wasted the first day of it by sleeping for nearly FIFTEEN HOURS. I don't even recall having a hangover from this years house party, I'm just a lazy as shit!

So here we are in 2016, Properly halfway through the current decade. Everything's moving so quick i'm actually starting to really miss and feel sadly nostalgic about the good ol' noughties (00's) At least the first half of it anyway. Big up all the half nineties/noughties children who had the Millennium slapped right in the middle of their childhood! lol Good times!

If you've already seen it and read the description notes in my 2015 art summary you might know last year was quite a rollercoaster for me. The first half from January through June I was struggling with my last year of university and on top of that, was having a very difficult, emotional relationship with a now ex girlfriend. I have nothing against them at all but it really did kind of fuck me up for a little while :( My artwork really took a beating from all this having no motivation or inspiration at the time as well as emotional stress. I actually produced literally nothing over March to May and had to find university stuff I was doing to fill those months on the summary.. But alas, my life had a turn around mid year and as far as art is concerned at least I really felt I got back on track. In fact the second half of 2015 I probably produced the most art I had ever done in a long, long time and some of my best too! So yeah! 2015 in a nutshell... "Kinda shit but also bangin m8"

This year I plan to get going where I left off! Maybe finding a part time job though.. xD For months now I have been jobless and as much as I am happy having lots of time for drawing (...and sleeping) I feel a job would be good for me. Something to get me up nice and early in the morning. Also so I don't feel tight on money all the time. Don't know if you lot have noticed but I have been doing a lot of commissions lately and most of that money is going towards a small rent soooooooo yeah.. -w-'

In terms of art I just want to do "more" ... I say this all the time but I just want to up the output each month! So expect a lot of stuff this year ;P ......Mayyyyybe not the comics I have been promising since 2012 but a lot of nice varied artwork none the less for sure. I want to branch out a bit more. Focus on my conceptual ideas, more bio's, more in depth looks at my Original characters, more sweet ass mixes etc etc.. Not JUST pin up "T&A" artwork you know.. Of course that will never go away, but lets at least get some male action up in here at least right? xD

I hope this doesn't come off as a pathetic cry for help "boohoo I want a girlfriend" post... But I wouldn't say it's far off honestly xD I just really need to vent my feelings somewhere so here goes..

This has been picking away at me for a long while now. I guess I could describe the feeling as "love sickness" The feeling of having so much love and affection to give but no one to give it to.

First things first. Iv'e had relationships. So this isn't a case of longing curiosity. My first girlfriend in fact lasting nearly 4 years through secondary school (which is quite an achievement if you ask me considering the age I was) And just last year I spent Christmas and new years with my last partner over seas. who at the time seemed like a dream come true but eventually crumbled and broke apart into nothing. Shame really.. But I'm not here to talk about my past. The point is i've had experience. Not much of it in terms of how many partners I've had but each one was meaningful to me and still enough for me to know how a relationship works.

However. For the first time in many many years I now truly feel quite alone. :/
See, there was always someone I was crushing on or thinking about when I was single before.. Which is dangerous in itself yes, but now there's just... No one. And honestly I'm not used to it. It's had me laying on my floor staring at the ceiling just longing for some sort of feeling to come back into my life. It's effecting me on a day to day basis almost as if it's clinical depression.

That's not to say I haven't tried putting myself out there. I know just moping around hoping isn't going to do anything. A bit embarrassing to admit but I have tried dating sites recently -/w/-'' .. first being a few furry orientated ones. Sounds silly but I feel my potential significant other needs to be one or at least be comfortable and knowledgeable with it (And i'll get on to why in a minute) However it turns out there isn't many female furries in the London area... Or the UK altogether for that matter... At least on those websites.

I then thought it might be a good idea to broaden my search.. So I reluctantly tried the more mainstream or "casual" dating sites. I mentioned on my profiles there I was "a bit of a furry" to say the least .. I mean there's no point in denying this fact as it's part of who I am. right? So despite this being there in my description I did actually manage to get chatting to a few girls. All quite attractive I might add and yeah, it was a little awkward for me as I'm pretty socially awkward with people I deem "normal" anyway. Yes they were "nerds" in the sense they played games and watched anime but overall the sense of normality was still there. This isn't to say they are below me or not good enough for me. It's more that I just tend to click better with people on that certain edge. People who are "outsiders" so to speak.

This is where the reality of normality and outsider psyches clash for as soon as we got on to the subject of "what do you do for a living" I showed them some of my artwork and they immediately lost interest. Of course I didn't blatantly show them my most raunchiest drawings but just like that I could tell they were uncomfortable. And in a way I don't blame them... Because I know they are not like that. Yeah a couple of them were actually artists themselves which was one of our "matching" qualities by the sites standards but they aren't like me in the same way....

So yeah... that's online dating down the toilet it seems.

You would think living in the big city I could just go out there and meet people but it's not that easy for me. I'm a lot more socially awkward than people assume... Also I'm not sure a long distance relationship is the thing for me. I tried it and it didn't work out.. I need someone physically..

Overall on top of having love sickness I just feel really low on self esteem. In both physical appearance and what I do. I'm not the ugliest fellow mind you.. I mean I was able to grab the attention of various females with my looks alone but i'm not amazing either. That and I'm getting fatter by the week xD But that's a slightly different topic altogether...

I feel my art severely limits my chances of attraction and i'm not surprised.. I mean do I really have to explain why?? I just come off as a massive weirdo and pervert in some cases through my art regardless of the skill or talent involved...

I could stop doing what I do.. and I think you lot would agree that that's bullshit and you're right because here's the thing.. I KNOW there are people out there.. I know there's someone for me out there! Someone who wouldn't care. Someone who would actually love me for being me.. The problem is I just don't know where to find them :(

I feel in a way my presence can make me intimidating.. ooo scifijackrabbit the biiiiig artist.. But no.. I'm just like you. I'm just another human seeking true happiness.

My optimism may make me naive sometimes but it's honestly what keeps me going otherwise I would almost certainly be clinically depressed. So I guess I'll just keep doing what i'm doing hoping that one day I will have a special someone... maybe u.u

This is probably one of the biggest staples of my artwork / character design and while iv'e been told it is quite unique and capturing I have also been told on occasion it's confusing or even off putting.

Comments such as:

"Why are the eyes blank white?"
"The eyes are creepy. Is she blind?"
"Where is she looking?"

(I say "she" because 90% of my art right now is females xD)

Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion.
Firstly they are not blank or white pupils. The eye style I use are "slits" or "slit pupils" to be more specific. A real life example being undiluted eyes of cats or lizards (Example here)

They also have influences from things like anime and Bomberman who also adopts slit eyes but in a different sort of way. One of the first artists that got me thinking about using slit pupils is actually Camille Rose Garcia.

However drawing eyes like this is problematic because with expressions if you draw the slits say, in the middle, not touching the top and the bottom of the eye as I do... Then the character naturally just looks surprised or "wide eyed" in facial expression. (Example here) A similar problem happens when trying to align the slits forward instead of to the side (especially looking straight at the viewer) as It just looks awkward. Mind you it can be done, But only at a certain angle like this this Speaking of which that is probably one of the much better examples of my eye style.

Iv'e been suggested to make the slits thicker.. And trust me i've tried it.. But it just doesn't look as striking to me.
The flicks or streaks of light I have added recently are also just a stylistic thing. But I havn't had many complaints about it so aye =w=

Pretty happy with it. But it certainly drained me and took far longer than I wanted it too... It was just a mix of laziness, perfectionism and the fact that I kept adding new tunes and constantly changing things during the process.. It must have been nearly finished about three times before I went back to square one and started over fresh... I also had my final year of university to deal with and an unstable relationship with my ex girlfriend. So yeah.. and i'm just happy to have it out of the way now to be honest. I don't think I'll ever try to do a mix with a tracklist that large again.. 25 max next time =w='' I hope it was worth the wait for you lot anyway.. Feedback is very appreciated! :3
