So I'm back
Posted 10 years agoOkay, so I know I’ve been like, super MIA over the past few months so I thought I’d explain myself for that a bit.
As some of you may know or remember, I went to Katsucon in DC back in February for the first time as a vendor. To keep this story short and sweet, I bombed hard. Not a single print sold, and hilariously, yet mildly annoying, my inspirations, the artists I follow and try to absorb the most from in my art, got more compliments from people looking through my stuff than I did. While complimentary because it means I’m getting it right, it was a little frustrating. But it was also my first time, so I wasn’t going to know how to do everything or expecting to succeed really. The deck was kinda stacked against me, both in placement and in circumstance given the wild shit that happened to me the weeks leading up to the con.
Suffice to say, I still took it pretty hard. Did I learn some things? Yes. Will I go back? Absolutely. Am I still hurt and really confused? Yeah, but I’ll grow, so it’s chill.
All of those things having been said, I finally feel like I can draw again, so I’ve been doing that more and more often, trying to focus more on my OCs because I want others to like them at least kinda as much as I do. Really any draws I can squeeze in between work and getting home and wanting to relax is worth it to be honest. I’ve got some things I’m working on right now, an art pack hopefully finished by May, tons of birthday art coming up, general fanart for my inspirations for helping me in their own special little ways, a couple YCHs planned, all kinds of jazz really.
Over the next few days, I’ve also got to start posting the backlog of work I’ve made in the months before and since Katsucon, there’s been quite a few things that I haven’t shown off yet, and I want people to see them!
Anyway, sorry for the long rant, just gonna make up for lost time now. Thanks!

Posted 11 years agoOkay, so, this will quite possibly be the last time I’ll be posting about this, but pretty much unless I get the money before tomorrow, I won’t be going to Katsucon.
Pretty much, I got accepted into the artist alley at Katsucon, the application was submitted BEFORE I lost my job. Which was cool, I knew I could open commissions and go from there. The only other problem has become now I had to pay $200 in restitution for the court case I was involved in, eating through the money that I had saved up to pay for it in the first place.
Which really sucks because that means all of the super nice people that commissioned me/donated before today((leckless, khanco, silvia, ninjabunneh, youre all wonderful and I love your faces a bunch)) sadly, your donations ended up being the vast majority of the restitution I had to pay this lady in court today. No waiting or pay plan, I had to pay her TODAY. Which was infuriating enough, but whatever.
HOWEVER. I did get another donation just today from onewingedzero for 50, which puts me just about 1/3 of my goal. If ANYONE, anyone at all can help me get to 160 by the end of the night, or at the latest tomorrow afternoon, that would be hella rad. Again, these aren’t really donations, as I *WILL* be drawing you a thing if you helped out no matter what, but yeah. Any help at all will be super amazing. Thanks again guys.

So now that I'm awake, I wish I weren't because I have the worst headache in the world, my body hurts from the workouts I've been doing, and I feel like I'm hung over. That having been said, I am still in the same state of perpetual excitement and worry over how this is going to work.
Let's backtrack for a bit and go over the basics.
1) Wtf is all of this about?
Two months ago, I applied for a spot at Katsuson 2015, a yearly anime convention in Washington, DC, and about 10 hours ago, I received an email saying that I had made it in, and would be given a whole table to myself for the Alley.
2) Why is this going to be so difficult?
Because as of almost three weeks ago, I was let go from my job. I was planning on still having that job as to not have to worry about any of this stuff, but things change. Now that I'm unemployed, I have no money, I'm trying to use commission sales as a source of income but that's been a very slow process((like it is for most people)) and I have to manage not only rent for this month, but also the table fee of $160 has to be submitted by November 1st, or else I forfeit the table to someone else, no questions asked.
That's where any of you come in. Going to Katsucon as an artist would mean the world to me. I mean, I would be ELATED to go. I've been telling myself not to get my hopes up about being accepted ever since I put in the application, and now I find out that I'm in. I MUST do this if I want my art, and myself, professionally, to continue to grow and be successful.
As many of you may know already, my commissions are open. If you're not able to afford them where they are, send me an email at [atomix.studios.ilus@gmail.com] and we'll see if we can't work out something that is fair for both sides. If you don't know what my commission details are, CLICK THIS LINK RIGHT HERE TO BE TAKEN TO THE INFO PAGE. Aside from that, say you aren't into art, or a commission from me isn't what you're looking for, you can use the [GoFundMe] that I just put up. The way you do it is up to you really, commission help because then I can use some of that money for rent as well if I do end up clearing my goal. I can't just ask people to give me rent money though, which is where the donations on GoFundMe come in. That is specifically for the $160 I need to secure my table at Katsucon. Whatever I make on those donations by October 31st, whether I reach my goal or not, will be taken out, and the donation link deleted, after that, strictly commissions like normal.
This isn't the worst situation it could be, just lots and lots of very unexpected situations and money I don't currently have that I need to use for things. Because now I get to figure out prints and posters and stuff that I should do, how to do them, and all of that craziness after all is said and done. This is an investment. An investment I'm willing to make in order to get what I want out of life. Many people that I know have taken these risks and done things that most people would consider crazy, but they've still turned out okay. Now it's my turn, but without you guys, I can't do it. So yeah. Any and all help you guys can provide me with would be really cool. Thanks

Posted 11 years agoSo…To make a long story short, I’ve been suspended from my job indefinitely, with possibility((more than likely)) of termination because I’m suspected of theft at my hotel, as well as a court date for said theft on October 31st. In preparation for the storm that will likely ensue because of it, I’m reaching out to any and everyone that I can in hopes that I can possibly support myself long enough either to hold me over until I have a job, or to use my art as a replacement FOR my job.
This has never actually worked for me as I’ve been unemployed before and there wasn’t much help, but at this point, I really have no other choice. I’m actually something close to BEGGING for work at this point. I’ve got something like two more checks, about $600 in total coming my way in the next two weeks, and I don’t know what I’m going to do for money for the rest of the month. I don’t have any savings, I don’t really have anyone to fall back on, and I don’t have much else lined up aside from my art right now that can even turn any manner of profit for me. I literally JUST closed my commissions in hopes that I could start to focus more on my own OCs, just now to have to open them back up in their entirety.
I’ve been down and out before, it’s not fun. All I’m asking for from you guys is as much help as any of you can spare.
