Posted 10 years agoGah, my landlord is selling the apartment that I've lived in for 4 years, so Jo and I are scrambling to find a place. But we're moving into a home, an actual house. Where I can garden. <___> I'm also super close to landing a job, but I'm just about run down on money from applications and all the vet bills from last month.
SO. I have a few things.

Posted 10 years agoSerpoelum Species Information
Posted 10 years agoSerpoelumDerived from latin:from the verb serpō (“I creep, crawl”), Latin sabulum (( sand ))-Basic Info:
+Horns: Most common are long horns that grow behind them, though short horns can be about as common. Uncommon are doubles. Rarities are horns that grow facing toward the front, or a third horn placed anywhere. (( third horns are considered bad luck. ))
+Ears: Typically one length and webbed, with a hood in the middle to keep sand out. Serpoelum born with longer earwebs are considered more attractive.
+Body: Medium height, between 5'3"-5'8". Taller or shorter has no social affect, but still makes the Serpoelum self-conscious. It is common for them to have a lighter color on their stomach and face, with darker markings on their feet, elbows, and backs. Freckles are also very common, in a wide variety of colors. Some may be born with a Patagium, but it neither common or uncommon.
+Lures: Like the fish, it is used to attract potential prey. However, a bright lure may have better success in attracting a mate, as does having a longer angler, as they are considered beautiful. They can have hypnotic qualities to either fool prey or to run from predators. To remove a Serpoelum's lure is to basically sentence them to a more-than-likely death.
+Feet / Hands: A Serpoelum's feet and hands are webbed. This not only helps them maneuver through sand, but also helps make them into exceptional swimmers!
+Tails: Serpoelum use their tails as a cat uses their whiskers. It helps them evaluate their situation and to give them a good understanding of the area that they are currently in. The 'eye' in the middle is used as a sort of compass, to help the navigate which way they would like to go. More often than not, you will see the tail poking out from the sand, moving around as if it were some sort of odd flower in the wind. This is actually the Serpoelum hiding under sand and keeping an eye out for predators, if they need to rest/sleep and have no safe shelter to go to. The feather attached at the end help them cool off if they happen to become overheated, acting as a nice little fan.
---
+Diet:
they are little scavengers with an iron stomach. They will eat bugs, smaller creatures, and plants. Give them a fruit, such as a peach or apple, and they will chatter away happily and warm up to you very quickly, as this is a hard item of food to find in their land, but their favorite non the less.
---
Habitat:
Deserts. Hot, dry, disgusting deserts. They burrow in sand at night and enjoy sleeping on hot rocks under the sun during the day. However, some prefer to turn a cave into a little home or build a hut.
---
Behavior:
Serpoelum can be very temperamental creatures. Most like to be alone, and keep social interactions to a minimum. Though, there are those that prefer company of other Serpoelum, or other beings that they've managed to find through their journeys.
Serpoelum are rowdy and little hellions, often getting into trouble and sticking their noses where it shouldn't be. They climb, bounce, jump, and chew on anything that they can get their little webbed hands on. Don't bring them near anything that you enjoy having a certain way, because it will be rumpled and/or damaged by the end of the visit.
Once past their rambunctious behavior, and loner-like tendencies, they can be very sweet to those that they get attached to. Serpoelum will bring their preferred friend or partner small gifts, such as shiny trinkets or tasty snacks. They can very upfront and loud when they like someone, and any sense of 'leave me the hell alone' disappears, as does their understanding of personal space. Being around someone whose company they enjoy can lead to about a 60% chaos increase.
It's a sort of fashion trend to hang jewels off of their horns, as well as beautiful stringed beads as a 'draped necklace' look. They also enjoy hanging gems off of their tails and wrists.
Speaking of gems, if one happens to stumble upon a Serpoelum's hoard, they would be surprised to find the mass amount of 'pretty shiny things' that they collect and hide. They'll use these items as personal jewelry, decoration of their environment, or for trading should they want other goods from a passerby. Thank you, Everyone
Posted 10 years agoThank you for your support toward myself, my roommate the_jotaku, and for my cat, Idjie.
Unfortunately he did not make it, and was put to sleep this afternoon. He went out quietly, and with the two people that he loved.
With this, and moving by the end of the month, there probably won't be a lot of action from me, though I'll try to stay around while things get settled.
