Posted 3 years agoHoly shit, can’t believe I haven’t actually said anything here in years, despite lurking fairly often.
I’ll try to make a proper journal soon (since I wanna start uploading more), but here are a few basic details in the meanwhile:
- 25 (will be 26 tomorrow — June 13th, 2022!)
- He/Fae, gender is… ? GNC (as in, femme) Trans Masc covers it… well enough
- Most active on Twitter (@octpii), Archive of our Own (Sedusa), & Baraag (fullcourseidentity)
- My (WIP) Carrd: https://fullcourseid.carrd.co/
- My OCverse (… also WIP) Carrd: https://idolodulia.carrd.co/

just a quick rundown
Posted 6 years agofyi, i'm currently hopeless at keeping up with anything that isn't facebook, tumblr, or youtube. i should probably spend less time on facebook (i've curated my tumblr enough to avoid a lot of shit, thankfully), so i'll continue my attempts to redirect my focus here

spring (summer) cleaning
Posted 8 years agoI've been needing to work on my professional social accounts, so I've spent all night doing so. This is one of the sites I've neglected a LOT, and I wish to change that; for the next several weeks I'm going to be moving, but I want everything up to date so I can immediately begin posting.
As a reminder for people who've forgotten: I'm Sabra (I go by many other names too), and I like to rip my favorite characters apart. I'm an illustrator/sequential artist, writer, and Youtuber. My Professional Tumblr, alongwith a link to every other account I have, can be found here: https://thesabracollective.tumblr.com/about

Posted 9 years agoStill alive! wheezes
A lot of shit happened these past several months, including moving and fights with the previous landlord and my tablet breaking and
It hasn't been fun. ><
BUT things are looking up! We have a place, we're slowly getting furniture, and soon I might even be posting art regularly again. I wanna start posting one thing a day, no matter how small, when I'm fully nested--but it might be two or three weeks.
Thankfully, my new tablet will be here soon, so even if I don't post often I WILL be drawing again.
I'll keep y'all posted!!
(Also, I have a LJ now! Mostly HP stuff; you can find it here: mssedusa.livejournal.com)

Semi-emergency commissions are OPEN
Posted 9 years agoI'm doing really badly. My sister is in the hospital (she'll be okay, she's being discharged soon), and we're trying to get her on disability like I am, but it's gonna be months before it actually happens.
For now, we have food stamps, but my SSI immediately goes into rent. The entire chunk of it, save 30 bucks. Austin is incredibly expensive.
I don't know how long we're gonna be like that. If I can make even 200 bucks a month off commissions, we should be out of the red. I'm desperate.
You can look through my gallery here and on deviantart (http://suffocatingromano.deviantart.com/). I'm constantly doing extra art lessons--mostly DrawABox, Proko, and Ctrl+Paint--so I'm increasing in quality over time through sheer will power. I'll try to do one or two pieces that include backgrounds to reflect this.
I'm also going to try to do adoptables, so I'll make an announcement for that as well. Please be on the look out, and if you can commission me, it'd be so helpful. Thank you.

Hello Furaffinity!
Posted 9 years agoI've been meaning to actually work on my profile here for a few months. I wasn't confident enough in my abilities to post anywhere other then Tumblr and sometimes dA, but I've come around, slowly. This journal is going to be mostly talking about my thoughts and goals as an artist; I probably won't be this winded in other journals.
~
I'm currently really hopeful to start doing commissions somehow. I'm constantly trying to improve as an artist and I do a lot of personal work that I generally don't upload (it's all WIPs; I don't finish a lot of studies I do unless that's part of the study itself. Example: gestures vs photo recreation), but eating takes top priority, as you can imagine.
(I'll make a Thing listing my commission prices soon!)
Besides that, though, I LOVE fan art. I have a passion for my original art too, but I love the emotions of fan art, and I love taking a pre-existing character and playing around with their personalities and such. It doesn't matter how silly or serious something is, I love to make and consume fan content of all kinds.
My long term goals, outside of "get regular commissions", is mostly artistic milestones. I want to be able to construct gorgeous figure drawing, but I also want to learn to appreciate and then enjoy creating backgrounds. I also have most structured art goals, the biggest currently being "getting to a point where I can do halfway decent sequential art", "think of forms in 3D automatically", "learn how values/lights and shadows work", and "get to a point where perspective comes naturally".
Speaking of goals, I think my dream artistic progression, job wise, would be:
-Do a lot of one-offs or short series NSFW comics for a while as per commission; learn a lot of useful tools about composition, perspective, and visual storytelling through sheer repetition
-From there, make a few famous fan works, like a Percy Weasley webcomic or an Artemis Fowl visual novel
-While I do that, get my foot in the door with "serious" projects by doing different side work for different companies (like, being a colorist or line artist, creating a few character designs, doing the pencils for some one offs, etc)
-Create my first "100% me" projects, like an indie RPGMaker game, an original visual novel, a comic, so on
Around this time, I should have a feel for which of those things I like doing the most. If I enjoy the "for hire" stuff for different companies, I might slowly build my way into become a full time artist for something like Dark Horse. Or, I could find that the original projects are more of my tune, and I could do them slowly while I have side work for paying the bills and building up a following of some sort.
There's a lot of possibilities; I'm very optimistic.
For now, though, I better upload one or two things and get to bed. Thank you for checking out my art! I hope you find it enjoyable.
