I Know I’ve Been Quiet
Posted 4 days agoI know I’ve been quiet lately, and mainly it’s been me doing nothing.
Back in June I spilled hot cooking oil on my toes. I’ll put the TLDR here and anyone who wants to read the details can scroll down. Basically what happened is I was woken up by the smoke detector to find no one in the kitchen and a cast iron skillet smoking on the stove. When I went to move the skillet I spilled the oil in the skillet on my feet.
I will say the one thing I am glad I got from my dad is a high pain tolerance.
Also earlier this year I learned that I had been diagnosed with ADD years ago, when I first started school. I honestly think I got from my mom. Though having ADD does explain some of the issues I’ve been trying to understand about myself.
-THE LONG VERSION-
My mom was dog-sitting and had just set a cast iron skillet on the stove with some oil in it, when the dog escapes outside. She and my dad run outside after the dog. So while she and my dad were chasing the dog I was asleep, only to be woken up by the smoke detector. I get up, without putting on my glasses, thinking the smoke detector was just going off because it has a habit of doing so when ever my mom gets near the stove. It has gone off and she has just turned the eye on. It's not because she burns things. I think it is just the way the air flow is with the kitchen or the placement of the smoke detector is too close to the stove.
Anyway, as I enter the kitchen I can see smoke coming from the skillet and quickly grab a pot holder to move it to an off eye. What I don’t see is that there is oil in the skillet. The motion of moving the skillet cause the oil to slosh out and onto both my feet.
I growl in pain and irritation as I set the skillet down on the cold stove eye. Then quickly rush to my room and pop the cap off of a bottle of aloe vera gel, dump the gel on my toes. Then return to the kitchen, grab several bottles of room temp water and take them outside on the porch.
As I’m about to dump the water on my toes my mom returns. I tell her what happened, as I pour the water on my feet. She gets a wash basin and we pour the water over my feet in the basin. We then go to urgent care, have my feet wrapped, and get some disinfectant ointment.
A few days later I go to the doctor to get a note for my job so that I can be out to heal. The reason I went to urgent care first instead of the doctor is I don’t have health insurance.
So the doctor asks some questions and then makes the doctor’s note. While I’m there I ask to get a prescription for an asthma inhaler. I hadn’t had asthma medicine for about 10 years or so now and thought while I’m here might as well go about getting some just in case.
I’ve been lucky in that time that I haven’t had a major asthma attack but I think that is in part knowing the main triggers that set it off and avoiding them.
So I deliver the doctor’s note to my job and spend the next month sitting back and healing. Then like an idiot I get well enough, or so I thought, to go back to work. The sores had healed but the skin was still tender and as a result of going back to work too soon my feet break out in a rash that reopens the wounds. I end up telling my manager and they allow me to take three weeks off which I take and this time fully heal.

Marry Christmas – Kwanzaa – Hanukkah
Posted 8 months agoHope everyone had a good Christmas and is having a good Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.
As for myself Christmas was good I got a new scanner so I will be able to post sketches again. I’ve also been getting back into playing Skyrim. On a Skyrim related note I’ve also been watching a youtube channel named “Skyrim_Tales”, most of their videos are in shorts format but they do make longer vids too.

2023 In Review
Posted a year agoSo last year I made not one but several New Years resolutions
Resolution #1 – to post a pic for every month.
Result : mixed. While I was able to post a pic I some times didn't post a finished pic.
Resolution #2 – to post a rabbit pic every month.
Result : Failed. I was able to post some rabbits but there were times where insperation just wasn't rabbit related.
Resolution #3 – 1062 X 1708 or 1708 X 1062
Result : Success... sort of. Though I had originally planned to have the resolution be 1600 X 2560 a mistake in exporting the first pic resulted in the change. As for why the original resolution? It's the resolution of my tablet's wallpaper.
As for the year... Meh, better then the last four.

I hope everyone is having a good Guy Fawkes Night; and while I'm an American who only learned about Guy Fawkes after the movie “V For Vendetta” was released, I guess I do celebrate it in a way as I watch the movie every 5th of November.

Time Marches On
Posted 3 years agoSo another year another Birthday. Over all life has been keeping me busy (hence my long silence) but things are being ironed out and I should be posting art again soon.
I'm not dead ... just older
Posted 4 years agoSo yeah just reached level 40 IRL. Over all my birthday was quite nice with my birthday gift being a new desk chair as my old one broke last week. I didn't have a cake simply because I didn't want one, I've just not had a taste for one. I did have a birthday dinner which was peking duck, I don't order it often due to the price but it was my birthday so worth the price. Other then that there's not much more to add.
Hope everyone is keeping safe.

Meh
Posted 4 years agoI hope everyone is doing ok. As for myself life goes on, 2020 ended up being less hectic for me then what I've heard it was for some. Other then the plague not much changed from my routine as it was already work, home, work... I don't have a hangout or friends to hangout with, and I don't drink so I don't go to bars. I had hoped to change that last year but... well you know. Anyway I bought a tablet in the hopes of being better at working away from home or at least not being tied to my pc and spend some time outside. So over all as the title says Meh.
Also hope everyone has a good Valentines Day and in the spirit of things, what is your favorite love song?
Mine would be “Glory Of Love” by Peter Cetera

Patreon Fail
Posted 5 years agoSo just tried to create a Patreon account only to have it disabled. Either calling myself an anthro artist, or if I should have waited 24 hours to set up my payment method that caused an issue I don't know. Either way that was a flop.
I've emailed them to see what is the problem but at this moment I have not heard anything.
I was going to use this as a sort of tip jar before adding to it but since the whole thing fell through I don't know if I'll even bother with Patreon. If they respond tomorrow then I'll decide if I'll give it another shot.
Update:
Well after looking at my emails it looks like I miss-clicked the launch button after being approved
as the time line is
- 38 minutes after verifying my email I received a welcome to Patreon.
- 32 minutes after that I received your account successfully been submitted for review.
- 6 minutes after that the acceptance email was received.
- 15 minuets later I must have clicked the launch button again sending a review request again.
- 11 minuets later the second request is approved.
-10 minutes after that my account was suspended for suspicious activity.
So I guess I made a mistake. Though to be honest you would think they would have something in place to stop something like that from happening. Even a simple “you have already been approved” or “a review request has already been sent”. As for the email I sent I have yet to hear back. As I am now typing this at almost 1AM they likely won't get back to me until tomorrow, so we'll see then.

Interesting Times
Posted 5 years agoThought I would make a journal so everyone would know that I'm not dead; my offline life has just been keeping me busy and stressed.
Early last year my Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer and spent most of the year being treated for it, and in November he ended up in the hospital and didn't get to come home until New Years. The doctors found his cancer early and when he took the chemotherapy it took care of most of the cancer. So they removed what was left and he has for the most part recovered. That is one down side of age, I think Toby Keith put it best in his song “As Good As I Once Was” with the line
“ I ain't as good as I once was,
but I am as good once, as I ever was ”
So last year was spent taking care of my folks and helping my Mom and Dad where I could.
This year though... well... The Wuhan Flu what you going to do? Thankfully I have yet to deal with that and with a lot of luck hopefully I won't. Though I don't know how lucky I'll be as my day job puts me in the path of the unseen plague carriers who keep asking “You still don't have any toilet paper?”
So I wash my hands, avoid touching my face, and try to stay as far as I can from people who are coughing (though that could be pollen getting them not the plague. Still; if you don't have to, don't roll the dice if you don't want to roll a one).
I think I'll see if Netflix still has “The Life Of Brian” because I need “to always look on the bright side of life.”

Sorrow
Posted 7 years agoEarlier today I lost one of my cat to a dog attack and despite rushing her to the vet as fast as we could she was D.O.A. It didn't help matters that someone had an accident blocking the fastest way to the vet or that too many people drove with their thumb up their.... but I digress. I'm trying to not tear up as I write this and I feel like everything conspired against us saving her. When we got home I helped my dad bury her.

One Drive out, One Drive In
Posted 8 years agoIt took a little longer then I wanted but the hard drive has been replaced. What took so long was the first hard drive was faulty. What basically happened is this, I installed Windows 7 on the new drive however it didn't want to install on the drive. So I took it into the shop where they got it installed. I took it home and after getting the drivers installed I started to install my programs. That is where it crashed and started blue screening.
I took it back to the shop where the “tech” tried to tell me about hard drive failures not blue screening and tried to get me to dump $60 to have him run a diagnostics to make sure it wasn't the motherboard (which they had installed and was working fine until the hard drive's death). I told him no took the computer home, pulled out the drive and brought it back, did an exchange for a new one and bought Windows 10 (because the Windows 7 disc was an install copy I had gotten from the repair shop.
Once I got home I installed the new drive and windows 10 with no problem. What took so long was getting the time to install my programs back, but that is done now so I can get back to working on art.

2016 got one last hit in
Posted 8 years agoThursday my hard drive failed, and I do mean failed as in unrecoverable data loss. So Friday I went out an bought a new one. Sounds simple enough just unplug the old one and plug in the new one and reinstall windows. Nope I tried to install windows and it wouldn’t go so Saturday I put it in the shop to see what is the problem and in the end got windows running. I returned home and started reinstalling drivers, programs and all that when it blue screened. It seems the new hard drive is a dud. So I’ll be dealing with that tomorrow, oh and I’m also sick.

It Lives!
Posted 9 years agoOne motherboard, processor, and some RAM later my computer is back to running like it should.
I had to replace the processor due tho the new board not being able to use my old processor. The RAM had to be replaced due to a miss understanding with the salesman, they said my old RAM would work when it turned out not to.
Either way parts have been replaced and my system is up and running, now to get back to working on art.

Please Standby...
Posted 9 years agoSo the tail end of this year has been rather bleh.
At the end of June I had some much needed (and over due) dental work done, the main part being a tooth extraction and an implant base put in. I still have yet to have the implant finished due to the bone not fully healing around the base. So that will likely be finished near the start of next year. Other then the implant I also had some fillings and a crown (that was well over due) done.
Then at the start of September my internet provider decided they had had enough of my mom complaining about our internet being spotty at best. So they decided to just disconnect both our phone and internet for most of the month. To top things off a few days before we do get our internet and phone fixed my computer decides that now would be a good time to start dying.
So I put it in the shop to have diagnostics ran and find out what was dying. I then get it back with the news that my mother board is dying. What really made me go “what?” was before I picked it up and the tech on the phone was telling me the problem they then asked me “So why did you chose the motherboard that you did? Because the one you have is for smaller cases and the way it's hooked up has it next to the radiator.” I had bought my computer from them and how it was built was however they had put it together. they then asked why I had chosen that computer then and that was because it had been on sale and it that it was the display model.
My best guess is that at some point someone had told someone to just slap a computer together and didn't check their work. What is worse is that when I bought it I had the tech look it over to make sure it was good to go, which they said it was. For four years it has been; apart from needing to replace the power supply, and now the motherboard. Also I bought this computer to upgrade over the long run, as the Dell I had before was too small to upgrade and with it being about 10 years out dated. At the moment I still need to replace the motherboard but when they ran the diagnostics they managed to fix some of the problems I was running into when it came to booting up.
Also for the past few days I've been a bit under the weather due to allergies and the change in the temperature. I've been tackling it as hard as I can and for the most part I'm mostly over it. I had hopped
to be over it by to day but... meh... guess I'll will have to deal with feeling a little sickly for my birthday. *Shrug*
I'll likely be quiet till I fix the computer problem, so this is just a heads up to show that I didn't just up and die... just my that computer has.

Crawl Out Through The Fallout
Posted 9 years agoIf anyone is wondering why I've been quiet the last week or so, simple answer is Fallout 4. I got it for Christmas and I've been spending my free time since the 1st running around the Commonwealth. I've been slow in progressing the story as I've been working on Sanctuary and a few other settlements, but over all its a fun game (all be it buggy at times.) . Also is it just me or does anyone else see a butterfly when they put a fusion core in their power armor?
Plan for December
Posted 10 years agoa few weeks ago I decided to try and get myself out of the no art funk that I've gotten into and told myself “Starting the first of next month I am going to draw and post a pic for every day in December.”
Well today I was trying to get my art flow going and having ideas but few were going anywhere in the end I resorted to working on a pic that I've had scanned for some time now. As I write this I have it nearly finished and will be rushing to get it finished before midnight here to basically be done on the 1st. Splitting hairs I know but it's better then going “Forget it! I fail plan aborted.”
I'd also like to mention that if you have any ideas you would like to see me draw ,to go ahead and comment here and let me know. Be it a subject matter that I've not drawn and you'd like to see or just a general idea you've had. If I like the idea then you may see it drawn at some point.

Fallout 4 Will Soon Be Here
Posted 10 years agoFallout 4 is five days away from release, while I won't be buying it the day it is released I do plan to buy it. With the game taking place in Massachusetts I have to wonder if they will make a Salem reference, perhaps with telepaths being witches. Also I hope one of the DLC that the game gets is like the “Divide” in the New Vegas game, but have it where you can travel out of state into lower New York for a Sleepy Hollow reference with a headless android.
Just some thoughts that would be neat. Either way I'll be getting the game whenever I get the chance, even if it has to be for Christmas.

Feeling Burnt Out
Posted 10 years agoI had a long winded journal about my current life problems but honestly I don't want to bring anyone down with them. I'll just say Parents = Stress = games over art. Also back on the 5th I turned 34. *Shrug*
I have a question; which would you rather watch? A gaming stream or an art stream?

Low Flying Airliner
Posted 10 years agoSo Today at work I witnessed an interesting event. It was almost 4PM and I was in the parking lot when I noticed an airliner flying at low altitude and trying to climb. I thought to myself “That's odd.”. It was low enough for me to count it's engines and mostly make out it's tail paint. Eventually as it added power and climbed it left my view. But about 15 minuets later I noticed it again further off and making a climbing circle where it made two laps before I lost sight of it again.
Upon arriving home I looked to see if it had made it into the news and found nothing. So I started looking the see what kind of plane it was and what airline. After some time I found what I think is the plane type and the airline. From what I could tell it looks like it was a Cathay Pacific flight, and the plane was likely an airbus 340-300.
Which looked much like this one.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe....._JP6885623.jpg
As for why the plane was flying so low? My guess is that it was trying to land at a nearby airport, which has been closed for a year or so. Not to mention I doubt it would have been able to even if it had been open as the runway would be too short. The reason I'm guessing this is one feature I noticed as it worked to climb was about where the nose wheel would be a small bump. Which I'm guessing was the nose wheel before it fully retracted. Either way an interesting and odd event.

Posted 10 years agoIt looks like my internet is back up and running. I believe part of the problem was recent construction in my area messed with the phone lines causing it to be hit or miss. The construction is still happening but it seems that the internet is running ok for me now. I'll be posting some of the art that I worked on since then soon.
In other news I'm also making a return to 3D modeling, something I've been out of practice with (I've not modeled anything in 8 years) to add to this I'm having to learn a new program called Blender. On the plus side I'm remembering more then I thought I would despite having to learn the interface.
