Reasons for my inactivity (hiatus)
Posted 16 years agoOkay here's the rundown of my life over the past several months. This may sound like a woe-is-me sob journal but let me assure you that it's not. I feel I owe an explaination to anyone still keeping tabs on my art and those who I still owe art to.
So here it is. Be warned: this will be a lengthy journal. If you don't care, don't read. If you do, thanks so much for your understanding.
During the last year or so Ive been noticing that I have lost touch with myself. I don't have any goals, academically or otherwise, beyond passing school. Infailed my first term of university (the school I'm attending was a college but it recently upgraded it's status) and, though I tried really hard to get grades I needed At first I still found myself very unmotivated to do anything. I pay $200/ month for piano lessons that I don't practice for (and at gr9 level that isn't a smart thing to do) and I find myself lacking things I enjoy. My sketchbook hasn't been touched since October. I don't play instruments that I used to love playin in high school. Even videogames are played briefly so I can tell customers at work what they are about.
I know some people are going to tell me I'm depressed, etc. Sometimes it feels like it. Tuere are nights where i will sit and cry but not because i think im a failure but because i honestly dont know where i stand in life. But those tend to be few and far between. Thank god my boyfriend of five years is so patient with me. Without him to keep me sane things could be worse.
But I wouldn't say i'm depressed, just going through an identity crisis.

I also don't feel that my art is good enough to charge people for it.
Until I figure stuff out in my life I likely won't be doing much drawing. I'm sorry for those who have been waiting for a while only to get disappointed. At this point I think it's only fair to cancel the requests rather than keeping people waiting. Please forgive me.
I likely won't be around much on FA. I might post up the ocasional doodle, but nothing too large.
Sorry if this journal doesn't make a lot of sense LOL. It's almost 5am and I haven't slept yet.

Posted 16 years agoOkay, so the halloween art will likely not be done by Halloween given that it's tomorrow (it's early morning of the 30th right now right now, so i count it as tomorrow, ee!) I got loaded down with a few midterms and a lab in school, and was sick this week. I'm feeling better, and the workload is (temporarily) lessened. i'll try to get them done over the next couple weeks!
I should make a note that I will not be taking any more requests until these are finished up. Sorry, but if you're interested, note me and i'll get back to you when i finish these guys.

#46:: Halloween Art?
Posted 16 years agoSince halloween is coming around the corner (already!) I thought I might offer some Halloween-themed art. I thought it might be cool to do pumpkin-shaped badges with names "carved" in them, (I could either literally cut them out, or just have them look like they are all glowy like) or pictures of your characters dressed up in a costume of your choice. I know I have been like... dead art wise so I thought maybe this would kick me back into gear. Five spots will be available, and if more become interested, I will open up more once i finish these five.
By the way, I should note that I'm not planning on charging for these unless these become super popular. So they're free for now!
(If someone else has come up with the pumpkin badge idea, let me know... it's something I just came up with, but I don't want to steal other people's ideas.)

I am fine with drawing M/M, F/F, straight sex etc with or with out toys and bondage. I feel i must also note that I am not very well practiced in drawing porn, but full effort will be put into the art.
- I prefer visual references as opposed to written descriptions but I am fine with either. Should you be unable to provide me a visual reference expect errors in things like markings, coloring etc unless it is very clear at this point I am going by instinct. I will do the best i can, but if it is not exact, apologies in advance. That said, i will require at least one reference of some sort of the character being drawn
- I will try to upload them as i finish, in order of the commission. I will also try to finish the requests in a reasonable time. That said, please be patient. If, by chance it happens that i cannot complete the commission i will refund the full value of the paid amount.
- I do not forget commissions, requests, trades. I try to keep a journal updated with a list of art i owe up at all times. If, however, you feel the need to remind me, do so politely.

Posted 16 years agoBetween studying and such I'm going to try to get back into these requests, and hopefully have them done by May so I can move on to other artstuffs. I'm SO sorry it's taken so long, I truly wasn't expecting to get swamped with work and school as I was. I've been feeling really shitty about not being able to do things and post the same whiny journal "too busy blah blah blah" to let you guys know i'm still alive. Thanks so much for your patience, I love you guys <3

And now for the updates of the goings-on in my life.
Despite the lack of arting, I've been feeling pretty good lately. Spring's here.. finally. Snow's melting, and it even rained today! The dust and snow mold are finally being washed away to make room for new growth. The almost constant sunshine has really affected my mood and energy, as six or seven months of winter really take a toll on me in those areas to the point of near-apathy at worse, and I get really lethargic at best. The past month or so I've been working on being healthier over all: cutting back on those too-convenient pizzas and starting to work out more. It's not that I gained a lot of weight over the winter (shockingly) but i did gain a lot of body fat that I'm eager to get rid of. So i've been working out more and slowly getting my muscles back.
I'm done classes, technically. I have a review class on the 13th, but other than that nothing. I have a week off, then exams begin. Being a hermit has been pushing my marks up to the B ranges (except history, which is roughly a C. I'm not too concerned about the exams this time around, but I will be studying hard for them over the next week. Between drawing, working, WoW, and boyfriend time of course.
I'm officially done my exams on the 24th, after that I'll be free except for the odd work shift here and there. Depending on how things go hour wise with my current job (Still EB) I might look into a second job, or open up commissions for extra money. Any locals in the Edmonton area know if anyone's hiring summer workers?
After these I'm planning to get into doing some badges, icons, nude stuff (including porn when i get brave enough to get back into it) I hope to open up some requests in these areas and work on some stuff with my mate and I/my other characters. I haven't drawn "me" art in a while, and my characters must be wondering if I dropped off the face of the earth.
But yeah, that's what's been going on with me. Exciting, no?
If anyone's interested I have a 67 BE hunter with a username of Deysong on the Exodar server. I tend to play casually, a couple times a week, but for several hours at a time when I do play. Whisper me or somethin' if you happen to have a character on my server! <3

Midterms + 3 papers (2 1500 words, 1 2500) + finals all within a couple of months tied together

#40:: FREE ART: Inspire me! (CLOSED FOR NOW)
Posted 17 years agoKay, now that I'm back on Canadian soil [ :( ], slowly figuring out time management skills, and down to three shifts a week at work, I'm ready to start drawing again.
To get my tail back into gear, I'm going to open up some requests/trades. Totally free. If you feel REALLY bad, then we can do a trade. :3They can be badges, porn (not cub though), pinups, portraits... Just whatever to get me drawing again. And as a general warning, I'm not too good at human stuffs.

Posted 17 years agoIs moot. Sorry guys, I can't seem to get any art done. I'd say it's because I'm busy with school and work, which is true, but not entirely. What it REALLY comes down to is that i haven't even FELT like drawing lately. I almost feel like a kid growing out of their favorite shirt I've really lost touch with myself, and I don't know WHY.
Don't get me wrong it's kind of nice to get the break. I haven't really been on the computer much apart from MSN once or twice a week other than for homework purposes.
My inbox is terrifying. I logged in FA for the first time in a couple months to actually CHECK the thing, and i have almost 2000 messages.
Let me make this clear though- I know it sounds like I'm whining about life a lot lately and I don't mean to. Apart from exams approaching dangerously quickly (I have 2 this week, and three next week), I have a lot to celebrate and look forward to.
My mate and I recently passed the four year mark for dating. Both to celebrate, and to get out of Albertan winter (well, hopefully it'll be winter by then... it doesn't feel anything like it usually does, and as much as I dont like cold, I don't like the idea that Christmas will be brown. Anyway, once my exams are done during Christmas break, we have a trip to Cancun, Mexico booked- I'm super excited for that!
We found a four and a half/ or a five star hotel (Golden Parnascus) which is surrounded with malls and beaches. We got a club room so we'll have the whole package: Flower decorations, jacuzzi tub, supreme room service and a beer-stocked fridge in our hotel. We even have a cruise included in the price. The over all price of the tickets wasn't even that bad. Around 3.5k which was a lot better than the other prices we were looking at for the same time frame.
Christmas- I gotta say I love it. If you don't, I won't criticize but you will definitely get a wierded out look. The thing that I love the most is being able to spend time with my family. Unfortunately I'll be on a plane home most of Christmas, but I'll be able to spend a few days with my family. When i get home from working Boxing day that is.
I got a new laptop, on top of the old one I have. I'm going to need a laptop for school, and lugging around an 18 inch laptop is just plain silly. My backpack is heavy enough as is, with my English and Classics stuff. Next semester is going to be even worse; on top of English I have Sociology, Anthropology, and French.
However, in the end, I've been so stressed lately that all i can focus on is the onslaught of homework and exams. I haven't been getting enough sleep due to the homework and as a result I'm drained by the end of the night. The only thing that is keeping me together without a mental breakdown is the though that once everything over- i'll be able to escape with the one i love and relax. Maybe I'll be able to fart out some drawings during the break when I'm not swamped, maybe not. We'll see how things go.
What do you guys do in times of stress? To study? How do you manage time so you can study and keep up with your work? I could use the tips and I'm open to suggestions.

Posted 17 years agowow, So I signed on and I had almost 2000 messages to go through, and 1000 of those were journals DX. That's what I get for not checking my email in a couple weeks i suppose. So here's a bit of updateage for you:
So I've been taking a small Hiatus. It wasn't really planned, other than when my laptop crashed. Lately I've been going throuhg the "first year college crunch" where everything's adding up at an alarming rate. Also, along with my wireless, which, apparently is due to a firewall issue, hasn't been working properly for the past week. My scanner hasn't been scanning right, but i think that's a program instillation error on my part. I do plan on getting that re set up when i get the chance. My dad has been on the main computer downstairs, so I havent been able to get on. I've also been working a lot: due to the christmas rush the hours have gone up, and so have my shift numbers. I've gone from 3 or 4 shifts a week to 5-6 shifts in a row. Often, I don't get home till 10:00pm as a result, and I'm too worn out to do anything but play Pheonix Wright #3 or Tales of Vesperia for an hour and go to bed, only to get up at 5am the next day for 8am classes.
Speaking of Tales of Vesperia, I finally managed to aquire a Xbox 360. I turned 19 on Oct. 27th, so Dad was nice enough to get me a 360 (60GigPro). I've been playing that as constantly as I can between school and work and sleep. I LOVE it. But due to my internet issues, I haven't bothered getting an adaptor/Live stuff for it. when I do, I'll post the code. ^_^
When i get my internet and scanner working properly, I WILL post the little art I've done. For the time being the most you'll see from me is random posting on journals or pics, and faves along with the occasional journal.
So for now, adios and a Happy Halloween!

Posted 17 years agoThis is a good news/bad news situation. I got my laptop back, but they couldn't recover anything on the harddrive. Therefore, I have to literally install everything i had on there all over again. I'll be mostly offline for the next week or two while i sort everything out.

Let's put it this way : English literature class, large Old English poems, and a history class. :) lots of writing and reading to stay caught up on.

#33:: Out of business for a couple weeks.
Posted 17 years agoMy laptop, my main form of communication, and business, has crashed. It seems to be a hardware corruption issue which'll take a week to two weeks to get it sent in and fixed. Thank god I got the warrenty on it. I have never had problems with it before, but I suppose there has to be at least one proplem per computer. I'm extremely frustrated with this whole development.
I almost want to get a new computer altogether. But it seems that while theyll send it to get it fixed with a charge of $80, it'd be more expensive to get the laptop replaced. And it'd probably be Vista, which, while some might like it, I've heard enough about it to not be one of those people. Plus I don't want to start all over again with a brand new computer if there's a shred of hope that at least some of my stuff can be regained from the hard drive.
I was told that if they couldn't fix the problem, they'd replace the computer anyway, but generally they're able to fix or replace the part and have it run fine.
Risu: sorry for the inconvinience, if you like, I can refund the money. I won't be done within the promised day, more like a week or two. If you're still interested thank you very much for your patience.

The most common answer would be that yiff is the furry terminology for anthropomorphic artwork, or virtual sexual acts between 2 or more net users, i.e cyber sex. Another answer is that yiff is the sound made when foxes mate, and that because there is a large grouping of fox characters in the fandom then it made sense for that sound to mean online furry sex.
But did you know that yiff actually means NEITHER of those. I'll give you a moment to let that sink in.
Back in 1990, when the net was still in its infancy there was no furry fandom as we know it. No cons, no FA or FAP, no furry MUCKS or furry IRC servers, not even a FurNation. Back then, furries had to meet in random locations to chat. Back then there was a user called Foxen who RP'd as a character called "littlefox". It was here that yiff came into meaning.

Yiff means "hello".
Yes, the word that now means hardcore fetish involved furry sex once meant an energetic or happy hello. Yerf, which generally now means clean furry art, was a sad hello or yes. But at any rate, before 1990, yiff as a word did not exist. But then it came into formation and meant hello.
So I ask this one question; what in the name of Satan happened? How did a cute happy greeting get turned into a sexual reference? My only conclusion is that, being human and generally sexually developed, furries began churning out masses of furry porn and somehow yiff got dragged into this. So, I am beginning a crusade. Post this article to your own journal and encourage others to do the same. It'll probably not work since, in the structure of the fandom, I'm less then a nobody, but maybe, just maybe it can cause a ripple or two and maybe then yiff can once again mean a happy hello and not a seedy sexual reference.
