Leaving the furry fandom
Posted 3 years agoNo shocker here I guess? I'm just not interested in the fandom as a whole anymore and want to move away from it.
That said, the crafting/art side (especially star dragons!) still interests me so I'll still be doing art. And I've decided that I will keep Luna as my mascot for sewing and art stuff, since I've used her so long.
I'll be leaving this up for a while so anyone interested in my future art/writing can find me at my ko-fi, where it all gets uploaded now.
I miiiight post something for the release of Urban Animals here as well, as it is based on anthro characters, but beyond that this page will probably be deleted in a few months.
It's been a fun time though!

Otherkin or fursona
Posted 3 years agoA hard question I often ask myself. Luna is definitely more fursona when it comes to her anthro form, as she shares some traits with me but I also have some specific character traits for her that I can act out in suit.
However, feral Luna definitely feels more like a kin-type character? Like, sometimes when I'm zoning out I can get the physical shift feel part of it, phantom tail and all.
I also get that with Starlight though. Only towards her older design, which is why I'm thinking of keeping that old look. The newer version will become Jupiter, a new character that will be more just an OC than anything greater.

Major page overhaul!
Posted 3 years agoSo, I'll be redoing a lot of folders and such on here. I want to get everything up to date, and also sort out all my commission work into sfw/NSFW stuff.
Plus more fursuit content!
Also, why isn't there an app for this site yet? I'd love one. Make my life easier.
There will be updated star dragon art/lore, hopefully adoptables, and writing content in time. Just need to get back into the habit of, well, actually doing stuff.

IT'S BEEN TOO LONG
Posted 3 years agoThis year, I'm making some art goals!
Gonna design a new dragon species (all available as open species too) each month.
Plus working on Star Dragon lore (which will mainly be on my ko-fi, wanna encourage people to leave me tips ya know), other writing (tons of shorts planned!) and other art.
Also sewing work! Furby worms, general sewing, maybe some custom stuff for Luna? Also finally finishing Shin Starlight!
Urban Animals is on the way to completion, expect publishing news soon.
Also plans for speed paints on my youtube channel, and fursuit/furry specific content.

New star dragon idea?
Posted 4 years agoA thought I had at work today, regarding Starlight's old suit and it's current state...
What if star dragons could change form to another species (like Starlight becoming a terrestrial star dragon) but, after changing, they also leave behind a form of empty vessel. This empty vessel has the same markings as their original form, and the same body type, but with a short bobbed tail and no back spikes.
When they leave behind this old soul, it has no special powers and is often eaten by the changed dragon, but when allowed to live they can make it a long time, living on whatever they can get into their mouths.
This vessel will be the same gender as the original form but is not fertile. They have no memories of their old self, and have a very basic intelligence that only goes as far as basic self preservation.
The dragon must binge on high calorie foods, not stones, earth, or gems, to get enough energy to make this split. They then pull into two forms, the new one emerging pale and weak, while the empty vessel will often linger nearby, not knowing to escape. As the new form gains strength and size, and develops its colors, it then either eats the empty vessel or leaves to find other food. Eventually the new form will leave the planet it landed on to make the change, while the vessel stays put.
This will probably get a comic or something.

Upcoming adopts!
Posted 4 years agoSorry things have been quiet here. I've been taking a fair amount of time away from social media lately (outside twitter and instagram) but I'm gonna start up some adopts soon!
Not just dragons, but rather a mix of species.
I'll do sketches of each one first, with color concepts and such, and then offer them up for $5 each, $10 for a cleaner ref image.

Updating star dragon lore!
Posted 4 years agoSo, I felt it's time to do a large overhaul of the star dragon lore sheets. More information, new information, updating things that I feel are out of date.
A lot of this will be posted on my ko-fi first, so it'll see a wider audience (i can share off of there a lot easier).
Adopts will hopefully be made during this.
A few things that will be changing:
- head shapes will be a bit more varied (old Starlight would be a snub face while the new form would be more of a reptoid face)
- multiple colors allowed for eyes/spikes/ect
- fixed pupil-like markings? Maybe?
- body shape will be refined a bit
- proper chart for where fat deposits will happen
The old guide will be left up until the new one is finished. The written guide will also be updated (i hope) but it's a lot of work, so it might take a while.

Urban Animals work
Posted 4 years agoChipping away at Urban Animals. It's in rough draft state now I guess, since I've been making some story changes and cleaning up the writing. Chapters are longer now (substantially so) and I'm working on better defining some of the characters. Also, lots of art!
Once this revision is done I'm going to start thinking about marketing and such, and how I want to release this.

Urban Animals news!
Posted 5 years agoSo I finally got Urban Animals finished!
I'll be getting proofreading done, plus a book trailer before I publish, so there's gonna be a lot of dedicated art.
After that I want to try and fundraise to get physical copies done up to try and sell both locally and online, with potential to sell at the Bunneah booth as well (boyfriend wants to support me).
If you want to read anything of the updated and done version, my now-defunct (read: no new posts) patreon (mooneaterstarlight) has a few chapters up to read!
Some of the trailer art will be leaked on here; if I can, I might make a banner ad to have on here as well as part of the fundraising goals. Any ideas for fundraising tiers? Not sure what options that I can offer, so I'll research into it when the time comes.

Star dragon update
Posted 5 years agoSo, i've been working on more species details. This is stuff that will be going into the book for the species, which I want to rewrite in a bit. It's getting there, I just want to sort out more details.
I guess, first off, gender details. Of course star dragons can be born with either ovaries or testicles, but when females get old enough that they can no longer produce eggs they can actually become male. The process is one that I want to detail more but expect at least a quick info sheet on it; Starlight is going to become male since I want to do something with the character and as the suit is too worn to be used for much beyond a plush, I can at least give it a new identity.
As all but one species have internal genitals only, this change is very easy; for firm-lipped terrestrial star dragons, they do not grow a phallus but instead will be able to produce semen like males of the species, and have to share it via a cloacal kiss. Terrestrial, aquatic and winged varieties have a lesser chance of undergoing this change however, as they don't live as long as common star dragons.
I'm also debating on making Jupiter female, as the character is still being worked on, but I might keep him male for art purposes.

Exploring star dragons through animation!
Posted 5 years agoSo, I've been debating how best to show some of the motion and such with star dragons beyond writing and suiting, which is limiting. I can't write it the best I feel, and I certainly can't move like one for real....
How about an animated dragon instead? A standing animation with roaring/yawning and growth!
https://ko-fi.com/i/IZ8Z32D2I7
I might develop this further.

Where's the art?
Posted 5 years agoSo, I've done a bit of art that's not on here...because they're GIFs!
These are all on my ko-fi! So you can see them all there.

New species?
Posted 5 years agoYeah, again I bring to life something. I posted a rough idea of art for the new beast on my ko-fi but I'm gonna tweak it and post it here...make a nice proper sheet for it.
It'll be a new dragon. Friendly, cute, and combining some treasured parts of my childhood. Namely, furbys and the old mega-blocks dragons...but without being too obvious.
You'll see.

Vulture culture friends?
Posted 5 years agoSo....
I've been a bone collector for years.
I know a lot of people think its weird and creepy, but I love it. Bones are great for divination and they also make for good decor.
Would anyone want to see my collection? I'm thinking I'll post it on tumblr but if there's an interest I might do some art relating to it or something.

Debating on how to release my latest novel
Posted 5 years agoSo, Urban Animals is nearing completion. There's an early, kinda bad version of it on here which was the basic framework for the final story. It's now a lot longer, better structured, with a more developed world and more characters.
I've been debating exactly how to get it out though. I want to get physical copies and be able to sell it in stores, but that's a lot of cash I don't have...which is why I'm debating doing a small kick-starter to get this running!
I'd like to offer up signed copies and ones with a thank you at the start to anyone who donates so that I can get word of mouth up for the novel and get a supply of copies to sell. I'm just not sure if there's really a huge demand for darker anthro stories.
The final novel will pay tribute to a few inspirations of mine, with subtle little details in the story. It is mainly written from a first person perspective, but does switch to a third person for a section in the middle that allows for some separate character growth and to help build up to the third act. I'm getting near the home stretch now, with a final push towards the end story...I just need to figure out one detail for the ending.
Beyond that, I just need a cover and it'll be ready to go! There will be digital copies to start, but I'd love to have this one actually be seen by the public.
Would anyone here be interested in helping fund it when the time comes?

Adopts and partial suits?
Posted 5 years agoSo...some thoughts.
I need to make more adopts I think. I've got ideas, and I want to design some adopts that can be easily adapted into partial suits. I'm just working on finishing my new personal star dragon, and once I'm done Faren (she's being ignores as my star dragons are more important to represent) I'll be ready to do more fursuit based work.
That said I do have other sewing projects (a jacket and sunglasses for Luna, a Manos poncho for Halloween, as well as a housecoat I'd love to make for my boyfriend, PLUS quilts as I feel I could use to do a few for personal use in the future) so I won't be doing these often, and they'll have a loose finishing date...so don't expect them done in time for a convention or anything. I have a full time job, so I don't have a lot of personal time.
These adopts will all be star dragons. I want to do a terrestrial with a nice fancy scale fabric for its face (Big Z fabrics has some beautiful rainbow reflective stuff), a few with more natural themes...
Heck, I might do some egg-based imperial adopts since they are colored at hatching, making them easy to work with. Might even work out a nice chibi style for the dragons as they'd look nice that way.
Would anyone want a star dragon mini partial? It'd be a head, hand paws, tail and possibly back spikes or something on a vest...we'll see. I'll get it all drawn out and then we can plan it, but any ideas would be welcome (and I hate making feet paws, please don't make me do that).

Updates to patreon!
Posted 5 years agoI decided to clean up my patreon and it's now friendly for everyone! No more 18+ content (well, things will still be decently mature but that's the way it is with writing, right?)
There's also a new tier that gets you a free star dragon adopt designed just for you!
Check it out!

A new dragon in the works!
Posted 5 years agoI thought I'd *finally* announce this here.
I've been working on a new fursuit, mainly to use up scraps, but also so I have a new star dragon as Starlight is getting pretty old and I don't have the supplies to fully remake her.
The new dragon, Jupiter (Beyond the Infinite) is going to be a hybrid star dragon, half common half firm-lipped terrestrial. She has a docked (read: bitten off) tail that's only about a third of the regular length, shorter back spikes, three-toed feet and will be using a custom 3D printed base I got from Fuzzbutt Fursuits.
Expect pics once she's finished, or check out my patreon for some updates on progress!
By this point the body suit is finished BTW. Just working on the head, and I need to make paws still.

Writing and such
Posted 5 years agoSo, I've been working a lot on my current novel, Urban Animals (an early, very rough version is on my patreon as well as on here) and as a result art has slowed down a little bit. There will be more art in the future though, quite a bit of it related to my current writing.
I should note that the Guide to Star Dragons is getting an update...and then it will be free to read on here! I felt it makes more sense to make it more available, and I'll be taking it off of Kobo. I need to do some updated art for it, and it'll be ready by the end of the year.
I've got a few other works that I was playing with, but it'll be letting them sit for a while since I want to get Urban Animals up and out. There will be a few shorter stories as well, some following the alternate universe stuff I already touched on with Prey.
If you'd ever be interested in a writing commission...let me know. I could be a nice challenge.

Progress on work
Posted 5 years agoI've been doing stuff here behind the scenes, although not as much as I'd like. A few reasons for my delays: work (we're not shutting down as of yet), and the fact my laptop's cord is cooking itself, so I can't really do a ton right now.
That said, I've got some stuff done.
I've got the nub tail base for Bunneah done. Just need to sew those and get them on the tails. We're doing a small batch of them for the first run.
I've got some paws I'm working on for a friend almost done. Only need to do the palm pad and sew them together now, and since I don't know when I'll see them again it can wait.
Faren just needs fur and her head is done.
Starlight is getting updated still. Her split tail is ready (I'll make an info sheet relating to this adaptation and its uses) and I'm still on the wait list for the 3D printed head, so once that's here she'll be getting a lot of love all at once.
Luna is getting a jacket and hopefully new boots. Also sunglasses.
I'm still open for commissions and art trades so if anyone wants some art, let me know!

Weird fursuit ideas!
Posted 5 years agoWell, not like weird species, but rather weird features to include.
A good example is the two-piece pull apart tail I'm working on right now. It's featured on my patreon, and I'm still working on it. It's got a bright colored meat inside, and I wanted to have it work with a system of three magnets; they proved too weak for the long run, so I'm going to use a zipper instead. No longer a pull apart, but still a tail that can be split in half easily. This is mostly for convenience sake: we can take the longer half of it off if needed and she ends up with a meaty nub.
Another one is the split lower jaw on a fursuit head; I'll be doing videos about that once I get the new head base.
How about moving eyes? Not like digital facial tracking ones, but eyes that actually shift and roll into their sockets like that of a shark? It could be done with the eyes on a strip that connects to the jaw...but it'd be kinda hard.
I'd like to see a star dragon with the throat pouch/gullet on it. I might make one for Starlight, assuming I have enough fur to pull it off.
How about a second set of arms that have some degree of movement? Or a suit without arms?
Let's see more weird suits.

Mild character creation
Posted 5 years agoMaking a character that can be represented by my ear hat/nub tail. For use at non-fur cons (or if I just want a break from suiting at a con).
Doing this in writing because I don't want to draw her quite yet.
Name: Belladonna or Bella
Species: Gleat
Sex: female
Related characters: Blight, her older sister; Starlight, in anthro form only (all three are room-mates? I'll be playing with this idea)
Description: Bella is of medium height, and average build. She has the typical bulk of her species, but due to her more civilized life style, can keep more active and avoid getting too massive. She has pointed canine ears and a short goat tail, and due to a small genetic defect, no horns at all.
Her colors are a mottled purple and a bright green, with accents of black on her legs and around her eyes.
Prefers to wear a hat at all times (often a fedora) to cover her missing horns. Doesn't dress to the latest fashion.
Enjoys going out hiking, and tending her garden. Spends a lot of time trying to teach Starlight how to use appliances, with little luck. Close to her sister, sees her as a more parental figure.

A new original species in the works!
Posted 5 years agoSo, as star dragons are pretty much finished (I just need to do some art for the guide book and the 2.0 version of it will be ready for sale) I decided to make another species, one that might be more appealing to the general public.
They are a wolf/goat/bear hybrid species known as gleats, or "Hoofed Howlers". They are social, active animals that live in family groups. I'll post some official art for them soon, but they will be a closed species outside of adopts that I make.
I will still do star dragon adopts, and I'll post the remaining anthro ref sheets as they are finished, but I though that a hooved species would be a fun addition to the mix.

YCH story idea
Posted 5 years agoWant to try this again. I'll make art to go with each to help sell it too.
Each story will be $30 as they will take time, and I'd like to add some degree of roleplay to it. After all, I want to know how a character will react to certain situations.
Most of these will be 18+ although I will have some more friendly, playful options.
Planned stories:
- Kaiju battle with Starlight
- vore/hunted by Starlight
- story related to plot for Urban Animals with Luna
- exploration/outdoor fun with Faren
Each story will be $30 as they will take time, and I'd like to add some degree of roleplay to it. After all, I want to know how a character will react to certain situations.
Most of these will be 18+ although I will have some more friendly, playful options.
Planned stories:
- Kaiju battle with Starlight
- vore/hunted by Starlight
- story related to plot for Urban Animals with Luna
- exploration/outdoor fun with Faren
