anyway if you're in Auckland cbd on Sep 24th I recommend you swing by. I'll be the idiot in the deathclaw shirt (and mask eventually) with bee hair at D11, and as with Wellygeddon I'll be doing on-the-spot sketch commissions! Bring a reference because unlike wellington, auckland's city wifi is only accessible in a few areas and I don't think the Cloud is one of them.

Obvs I can't say any details other than It's A Thing but I'll be working on that for a few months, so it'll eat into available commission hours.
I also have additional projects to work on which are less time-constrained but still impactful of time, so at least until Overload is done in September, weekly hours will probably max out at about 10.

So that's just a heads-up! I'm super excited about it because the ideas are really really great and I'm glad to be able to work on it, whether it works out as a Finished Project or not.

My computer is experiencing network card issues (I have an extended warranty on it but the store location is over an hour's drive away so service on it'll have to wait) which kicks in very frequently, often not allowing me to connect to the internet for several hours a day, though thankfully not all at once. This poses problems for things like uploading full resolution things through email, but I haaaave an ethernet cable which might help? I dunno

Long-term though, I want to save up for a hefty work desktop computer once I've got rid of some of my excess Stuff. Network issues seem to be common in the current generation of laptops, and besides which I want to be able to stream again, as well as not have major lag on all these brushes I picked up >:T Sucks buying a pack and not being able to use them!

We drove for about 7 1/2 hours through lightning storms and torrential rain but arrived safe and alive and kinda tired - packing the small car with all my stuff was a bit of a mission but somehow we actually managed it by playing storage tetris until it was all in. all the heads i'd made were just staring out of the back window for the whole trip lmao

beyond FA's downtime i've just been doing nothing (that downtime was nothin but trouble because I know theres many people out there with dead or archaic email addresses... if I hadn't tracked down the email I used for neopets reasons, I'd be in a pit of despair right now too. lucky break)
i'm in a financial limbo right now, nothing coming in and also nothing going out, so I'm taking the opportunity to go on an 'art vacation' - I'm dissatisfied with where my art is at right now and I want to improve, so I'm going to be doing a welter of personal art and scribbles and things in an effort to gain More Skills
So, commissions won't be open during this time! I was tempted to take on experimental type things but I'd prefer to mess around on my own terms than have someone's hopes and dreams and money riding on it
Most of the things I produce won't even be saved, they'll be scrawled out and then deleted, or at least won't be uploaded anywhere, so don't getcha hopes up on seeing anything from me for a lil while. Maybe a week. shouldn't be too long.

After that, and here's the important bit:
I'll open commissions one last time before I'll be raising my rates to $25USD/hr.
When I move to the next new place (i'm in this one for about four months) it's highly likely that it will be more expensive than my last and therefore I need both a substantial buffer and a substantial livable income.
Because it's a price raise, I want to make sure that I'm delivering your money's worth, hence the skill upgrade!

Going home tomorrow afternoon, anyway. Graduation is on the 6th and I'll be organizing my room to get rid of a bunch of stuff before then (including tumblr giveaways! I have a bunch of prints that never sold any copies so I'll be givin them away over yonder) including selling art at a discount, and a couple of tails.

After that, it's two weeks to completely drain my entire room of resources, so that's when the head construction plans will begin. It's highly likely that I won't have much time to spend on commissions, so weekly openings will be very small hourly limits.
I'll then be shifting everything down to mum's house for four months until it's all clear to move into a house in wellington - waiting on specific roommates, so that's okay I guess - I'll have internet, but I will still not be able to stream for the time I am there.

SO. im going to be Quiet on occasion over the next two weeks, moreso than on top of the library internet

I brought an entire suitcase of fursuiting supplies with me and have yet to touch any of it! So tomorrow instead of opening for more hours, I'll be working on those things instead! Along with finishing the current queue because I was very slack this week oops
I have enough with me to make at least two heads (Odahviing and Glunkus), as well as fixing up the M'aiq head to sell as a full Khajiit head (known as the reM'aiq) though I don't have eyes for him with me currently.. at least Glunkus doesn't need eyes, creepy little thing that he is. :T

From what I hear it's a sharing site, and that's the sort of platform I don't like, because it's reposting on a widespread level with little noticeable return on behalf of the artists involved. I've previously had my username marked for takedown on there but evidently it didn't work (it was quite a while ago, to be fair)
I'd like to retain some agency over what I create! That means I want to control where my art ends up. I know you mean well and that it's exposure and advertising and stuff but to be honest, if I wanted to advertise, I'd do it myself.

So: Please don't post my stuff to e621, and if you have done, please take it down.

Aside from that:
I'm packing up to move out! Sort of! Stayin with aforementioned friend for an entire month. My suitcase is going to be filled with fursuit supplies and hopefully I'll come back with a few heads and tails and things to sell (most likely hugely discounted since I just want to get rid of stuff before I permanently move out)

I'll be heading down to stay with a friend for a couple of weeks before my graduation, which means I'll have Unlimited Internet - it's often shitty quality and cuts out sometimes but. it means for the most part that I'll be able to rev up tigerdile and start streaming again! That's in maybe two weeks' time though.

and then after graduation it'll be two weeks until my tenancy contract expires so I will be MOVING ON - to wellington! Hopefully! If I can find a house to exist in, given the short timespan but
my friend will be helping me find a place down there so having two people move in to a house instead of one in with strangers is a better plan.

I'll have to find a babysitter for the Kullenuska and Baby suits because they're very inconvenient to move such a long distance, as well - Baby can't be folded up and packed away, so she'd need a very large and long box with lots of packing protection and that just won't do right now.
ALSO: I have three large boxes of fabric and fur which I will be making into things in an effort to get rid of them, such as heads and tails (I'm bad at paws and there's not enough room for making a full suit, so that's all it'll be) so keep an eye out for those! There won't be many different colours since I'm getting rid of stuff rather than ordering in things for specific looks, but I'll try and keep the content varied despite that.

And in the meantime, art keeps being made. Hardcore.

Given the setup of internet access and my sleep schedule currently, it's hard for me to reply more than once a day - the library closes at 8pm which is around when I wake up, and at weekends it closes at 4 which is even more difficult.
At uni I was able to sit inside until midnight, and sitting outside at 3am was reasonably safe, but the benches outside the city library is where homeless people seek shelter at night, as well as all sorts of inebriated people (theres usually a mess left by drunk people left the next morning and it's The Worst)

actually I was offered a uni internet access from someone still attending, but.. theyre in while I'm asleep so finding them and getting that access is a case of bad timing ahah

anyway tl;dr opening commissions in two days. hold on to your butts

I'm at the public library right now, fallen from the grace of unlimited to 1GB (or was it 10? idk but Now Limited) per day
not too bad. I'll still be able to answer emails and send files and things relatively easily, so this is only a minor hiccup. It's absolutely awful for uploading things, though. Very very slow.

Thank you so much to everyone who's chipped in lately with info and expertise – yeah I deleted the journals etc related, but that's so I don't trip myself up or confuse other people – so it turns out I've been dealing things sliiiiightly wrong over the last few months! Or, quite wrong. Basically everything is a mess but that's how it goes when you're relatively new to stuff :D
As it stands, some changes need to be made!

I will be switching to using invoices. This means that when we talk business, you'll need to let me know your paypal so I can throw one of the wretched things over to you (I don't like them, but they're a necessary evil, like eating food regularly). This means there's less pressure on you from me if Paypal decides to be nasty like it has been in the past, and more pressure on me to learn something I'm not familiar with, so everyone wins. Sort of.

I will also be working a set amount every week. I am very bad at replying to emails, but I have found that I am better at it when there is a strict timeframe in place. Working weekly limits means that I have pressure to respond as soon as possible to get your piece done in an orderly fashion before the week is up. This means that you get a response in a day or two, progress shots far more frequently, and your piece will be done within that week's timeframe, within reason.

I will give this three months' trial to see how it goes in the long run, and it allows for the hiccup of when my current internet cuts off and I will have to seek other means of interneting, AND allows for the time I have to move out of my apartment in two months. After that, if everything is intact and nobody caught on fire for more than ten minutes, I will be increasing my hourly rate to $25/hr.
My 20/hr rate was to compensate for being awful at responding, so without that, I'll be able to increase in good conscience.

As per previous weekly commissions, I'll post on a specific day with a slot or hour limit, via image submission, since I know a lot of people tend to not look at journals. The time of day will vary depending on internet access or whenever I manage to drag myself out of the apartment to do internet things, which makes it a little more fair on those who are online at Unusual Times.

I think that's it as far as all that goes! I'll hopefully be able to start all this up this weekend, and see how things play out from there!

I finally got the certificate! The registration was confirmed on the 9th but it took some time for them to mail the thing out to me buT

Tuesday: Paint claws and feets. stop drawing baby deathclaws it's not helping even though theyre cute
Wednesday: if that plan aint finished boy howdy youd better finish it and do some base claywork
Thursday: scream. maybe do more commissions. repaint details on claws and feets
Friday: fix the tail's attach point and resew leg seams with Extra Wrinkles
Saturday: Take photos, compile and submit contest entry
Sunday: the world ends so nothing matters anyway

I figured, since my internet is most likely to be cut off early in March, that I may as well go for Tigerdile streaming until that point.
Livestream is gross, but Picarto honestly frustrates me because of the autoscroll doing nasty things and also the stream seems to randomly cut out video at times. So, I'll be giving Tigerdile a try and if it's good I'll stay on with them once I get new internet set up! (which might not be until May but plans can and might possibly change)

As for Baby - I'll be working on her for the next four weeks, getting her patched up and ready for the Manukau Armageddon run. She'll hopefully have better vision and ventilation, along with better support for the tail, and a lot easier to get into/out of, since currently it's a very tight fit in some areas and has torn stitching from stresses I didn't anticipate.

Finally, my official name change is being processed! It should come through in two weeks or so. Finally I will be Kullen for good and then I can reclaim my old facebook page and make an irate post about whichever nutcream it was that reported my name for being 'false' >:T (im not really mad about it but i like to make an impression of being furious)

and boy is it hard to get into doing art again. I can feel myself stagnating already D: At least my internet hasn't been cut off. I'm currently trying to get my sleep schedule back on track, and since I spent the last two months essentially leeching food off everyone I stayed with, I forgot I had to buy my own, ahah;; being an adult is hard and it sucks

so! I'm heading home after a month and a half away, but there's a problem with that: Since I'm graduating, I obvs haven't enrolled in the new semester. Without enrolment, I'm not a student at uni, therefore, I don't get uni internet. I don't know when they'll actually cut me off from it but I'll be looking for;
1: work, either at Weta or something relevant to my degree
2: free internet (since I can't get any where I'm living) so that means the library for 100mb a day or something else really unreliable - working off 100% commission income means I can't afford to pay for personal internet, either, since I don't get enough to Gain money, just slow my decline to being broke
I'll keep you all posted on everything, because if I have to drop everything due to moving closer to work stuff (though thats mostly if it's Weta) or if internet is.. well. shit. then that'll affect my ability to do anything I usually do
