Anthro or normal plush?
Posted 10 years agoThis is a little addition to my previous post. Which would be better, the 6ft anthro plush based on the mascot, or a regular, laying plush of the white lion roughly five feet long from head to tail (not counting tail)? Still in the money gathering phase, so this might be a while, but want to ask for input.
An actual Leo/Jayce plush?
Posted 10 years agoWhile trying to figure out the second half of the second Jayce story, I pondered what suddenly sparked my interest in this plush thing and that Seibu Lions mascot. (Which is Leo/Kimba) I remembered when I first saw one of the really nice costumes thinking, "Damn, you could make one nice plush based around that headpiece!" Well, that triggered things off. Tonight I also started thinking: Would an anthro plush of that be possible? Something to represent both that Leo and Jayce's current form done in full life-size? I would suppose it to be possible (and oddly, less freaky than an anthro femme plush). Of course, cost would be a hurdle, but the head wouldn't have to be hollow like a fursuit, just have to look nice. Basically, the most important parts would be: The head, tail, hands/paws, and then have the right basic shape to look good in clothes, and decent out of clothes. Scale presents an issue as that mascot probably changes size and even shape depending on who's in it. I have Jayce at a little over 6ft right now, which seems about right.. Ok, enough rambling from me for now. This is a brain storm and I know I'd have to start liquidating some more excess first to start getting the cash up for even a tiny chance at a design like that. Still, it's interesting to ponder and since I am done with radios and arcade games (collecting-wise), it just MIGHT be possible. Oh, and he would have no naughty parts!
And even official Wiki pages can be crap..
Posted 10 years agoI said in my last journal that the Seibu Lions had supposedly quit using Leo in 2008 or 2009. Well, tonight I clicked on a picture that had the caption: Dear Seibu, I hate your mascot, with Leo pictured in the newer uniform. Well, it turns out that was from a 2013 series and guess who's there all done up? Leo! Ok, either the wiki page was full of crap or Leo rose from the dead!
Anyways, got a start on the second Jayce story last night. Wanted to do more tonight, but am feeling sick and not much like writing. :(

Plushies, the new frontier! (For me at least)
Posted 10 years agoIt's pretty obvious I made a sudden gear change here with my stories. One reason why is that it seems the last inflatable story took something out of me. Another reason why is I suddenly found new inspiration in an unlikely place that is helping me move Jayce back out into the forefront. Of course, plushies are really a new dimension for me and having never watched Ted, I will have to figure out some things. One thing I am wondering is if Jayce can still eat limited bits of his favorite foods? What little I have seen of Ted seems to have the bear eating.
Of course, since I am once again using Leo (And the Seibu Lions macot version to boot!) I decided to do a bit of research today. One thing I did not know is that the team supposedly quit using the adult Leo as their mascot in 2008! At least that's the info I have found. One thing that is working for me is that Jayce and Princess Leona's world is set somewhat in the future and it's a world turned on its ear anyways. Besides, decisions change as time goes by... I am already pondering what adventures (or misadvenures) to take Jayce on next! For now, a silly quote!
Jayce feels over his new face and muzzle: "Oh great, he plushed me!"

Goodbye AMI jukebox
Posted 10 years agoAfter a lot of thinking and the lack of help and parts, I finally decided to part with my 1953 AMI jukebox. It sold today and went to a good home with another Jukebox collector. I already have a working 70's jukebox and support for these early AMI's seems non-existant in Ohio. The last place in my area to work on jukeboxes is going pinball only and selling what little jukebox stock they have left. Most of it 70's and later. Oddly, support for Seeburg jukeboxes seems to be better in Ohio now...
It's final, I am a Brony...
Posted 10 years agoI just went out yesterday evening and bought: The Daring Do Collection, a large TY Rainbow Dash plush, a backpack to keep future MLP books in, MLP Memory Game, MLP Chutes and Ladders, and Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. Right now I am watching select episodes of season 1 on DVD and am loving it! I bow to the ponies! *kneels before the 'Mane Six'!"
Another Road Block
Posted 10 years agoI just hit another road block with trying to sell my radios. I finally got ahold of Estes today and once again, was told no console radios, especially the ones on legs. I guess what is happening is they are getting swamped with bidders only willing to pay five to ten dollars for a radio, no matter how nice it is, and then these buyers strip out the guts and leave the cabinets for Estes to dispose of. I guess is costing them to lose money, so no big consoles or big radio groups at all anymore. One question I have is: is there that much of a demand for parts from these radios that these dealers are willing to destory whole collections of radios for pennies on the dollar? One bit of good news is I have found an auction house that I might be able to sell my big postwar consoles and TVs through. If all people are going to do is butcher these radios, I don't think I am going to sell any of my pre-war sets.
The ponies got me again!
Posted 10 years agoFinally got to see the season opener for MLP FiM and really liked it. Went out the next day to Toys R Us and bought an MLP clock and boombox! Help!
Time to go to Weasyl?
Posted 10 years agoJust found out about FA being sold this evening and an not really sure how this will pan out. I will definitely not be posting anything new here until we see how this pans out and I might be looking into making an account over at Weasyl soon.
How am I going to sell my radios now?
Posted 11 years agoAs I mentioned earlier, I am going to try and thin down my radio collection. I talked with a gentleman I know last night and he had some bad news tonight concerning trying to sell my radios. I have already had issues trying to sell my radios on Craigslist and the auction house near me is super picky about what it sells. This guy has been selling some of his collection through Estes and was up there not long ago to talk with them and test the waters on what I might be able to sell through them. Unfortunately, the news is not good. Basically, Estes is not accepting radios with legs, phonographs, or postwar items, or most consoles. I guess no-one wants to buy them anymore. It looks like the only way I am going to make room and maybe get some cash out of my radios will be to pull the tubes, knobs, and any other small parts to sell, then scrap the chassis and burn the cabinets. This all has me really discouraged right now and I don't really know what to do. My job doesn't allow me much time to travel anywhere to sell anything as grocery stores are pains to get days off that you REALLY need.
Working on a different story direction.
Posted 11 years agoI have loved working on them, but for now I want to leave the balloon femme stories behind and try my hand at something different and for more general audiences. Don't worry, they will be back in the future, but for now I need a little break. :)
Man takes shower, burns down historic, 116 year old building.
Posted 11 years agoAt least that is what it sounds like. In September the little canal town of Canal Fulton, Ohio lost one of its largest, historical buildings due to fire. Friday, December 26th, I went up there to visit a store called 'The Toys That Time Forgot' to look around. Being curious, I finally asked one of the long time employees there if a cause to the fire was ever found. His reply was "Yes, the guy renting the upper apartment had his dinner in the oven and decided to take a shower and the oven caught fire." Basically, sounds like the guy should have waited until his dinner was done! Luckily no-one got hurt, but at least one business was lost, a historical building was lost, and two people lost all their stuff in the apartments. The way people acted when I asked makes me think it is still a very sore subject to the people there.
It's auction time.
Posted 11 years agoAfter losing my radio friend and fighting with lack of space, I had decided it is definitely time to thin the collection down and a consignment auction looks to be the best route. I have roughly 50-60 antique radios I am willing to part with as well as some vintage TV sets and a few old cash registers. Although this isn't an easy choice, I am almost looking forward to reclaiming some space and to maybe having extra money to put back and use for other things. I'll probably be checking out a couple auction places next week as I want to get something set up and this stuff moved before we are under snow and ice.
Just lost a friend and my radio repairman.
Posted 11 years agoI just got news a short bit ago that my friend and fellow antique radio collector, Tim, was found laying dead in his bed by his dad this evening. There had been a bit of worry as a couple others I know had been trying to get ahold of him for the last 24 hours with no reply to his phone or knocks at his door. His dad was contacted and he finally got into the house. I have three radios currently up there awaiting rebuilds as well that I must somehow retrieve. :(
Did a little cleaning on my scraps.
Posted 11 years agoCleaned out a few pictures of some radios I no longer own. My collection is still evolving and I didn't think it was right to still have up pictures of items I haven't owned for a while. :)
Inflatable sheep girl?
Posted 11 years agoHad a character idea pop into my mind last night. Probably because I was thinking about those stupid novelty inflatable sheep you see in adult stores and because of seeing a few very nice anthro sheep girl pictures a while back. Basically, a curvy, sheep girl balloon came to my mind. Instead of leading his sheep around, a poor guy is lead around by his curvy, inflatable sheep girls! Heehee! Hmm, too crazy of an idea?
Done Antique Radio Collecting
Posted 11 years agoWell, it has finally happened, I am done gathering up radios. The already restored Mantola console I picked up a short while back and the nice little Philco 37-640X console I picked up a couple days ago are the end. With vehicle repairs from this past winter looming and the out of whack energy bills and work hours, I can no longer afford to bring any more radios into the collection. That and I'm out of room for sure now. I might try to find a coin op radio in the future, but for now I need to quit and maybe even thin the herd a little to get up money for radios that need repaired. First up: My Zenith chairside which I have been pondering selling the past couple weeks.
Troubles, troubles, troubles.
Posted 11 years agoIt has not been an easy week for me. For one, issues with my grandmother have increased and we are wondering what was true about her and how much has been lies she has been telling us for years. She ended up in the hospital earlier this week and several more thruths are coming to light, including the possible fact that I somehow was never really a grandson to her. :(
Add to that the fact that AEP is gouging me and that my van is currently unusable until I get a part, I am feeling a little low right now.

Sinking deeper into the pony trap.
Posted 12 years agoYesterday after getting reamed at work over something stupid and feeling a bit down, I sunk even deeper into the pony trap. I ended up at Wal-Mart (bleah..) to get a cheap pair of boots so I would quit trying to slip and crack my head open on the snow in the mornings. While there, I checked the toy department, which has been rather bare since the holidays. The only section well stocked is the section with, you guessed it, the My Little Pony toys! Before I knew it, I ended up buying a talking Rainbow Dash that flips and a small Pinkie Pie figure. Add to that, this Saturday's episode is now a must see for me because Weird Al Yankovic is on it. Oh.. they also had a giant talking Twilight Sparkle there that looked rather nice. Gah! What am I doing?! Hope some new Lion King stuff comes out soon to balance me back out!
Email is back.
Posted 12 years agoMy email is back online again. Turns out I wasn't the only one locked out and it was caused by an upgrade Lycos was doing. Seems fine now and seems to work smoother than it did.
Email problems
Posted 12 years agoIt looks like something has happned to Lycos Mail. My webmail account there seems to have disappeared totally. My username, password, even the retrieval email address are not recognized at all. I put a message into the help desk, so I hope I can get it back. Most of the groups I am on, including here, are linked to that for messages and emails. If I have to change webmail accounts, it will be a pain as most places require your old email address to send the confirmation to before you can continue. :(
Well this sucks..
Posted 12 years agoLooks like some of my favorite artists are now running away from here. Not sure how to feel about this anymore. I had just gotten myself out of a bit of a funk and feel like doing some writing again, only for all this BS to be going on. If thise keeps up, I'll be leaving too, but there will not be any of my stories posted anywhere else besides the few I have up on DA. (Won't post there due to confusing rules.) Sorry, all this drama crap is really getting on my nerves. Grow up people. We are going to run into issues no matter where we go.
What the?
Posted 12 years agoI keep hearing of all this drama going on and people leaving FA, what is up? Now getting some journals from the artists I watch about it as well.
Feeling a bit better.
Posted 12 years agoI seem to be starting to come out of the funk that helped inspire my last journal post. Also I am doing some research and tinkering with a possible new story idea. I might be dipping into something I have tried to avoid and have considered a 'dark side' since it started. Issue is: I'm finding too many hot anthro pictures of this 'fandom' to ignore it much longer.
Trying to draw inspiration.
Posted 12 years agoAnd I am failing to anymore. I am glad to have written the last two stories, but I am not sure when I will write any more. For one, life and work has me feeling drained almost all the time. For another, it seems near impossible for me to find pictures of inflatable ladies I like anymore. When I do find interesting, high quality stuff it seems deflation, popping, or being blown up into balls or with huge stomaches is the norm. Of course, doesn't help I am fussy about what I like. Perhaps I just have the winter blahs... Anyways, we will see what happens once I get into my vacation this week.
