So, I'm not sure that I'll be making it now. Over the last three days, I've picked up some sort of bug that's kicking my ass. Here's been the symptoms so far:

Monday: Minor sore throat, minor exhaustion (thought it was simple cold)
Tuesday: Severe sore throat, throat/glandular/tongue swelling. Painful to swallow. More exhaustion. Tested negative for strep throat, Got antibiotics as a backup.
Wednesday: More pain in throat, added fever and additional tenderness and swelling. LOTS more exhaustion plus headache,

I have several tests in for a couple diseases, but if this thing doesn't miraculously become a lot better by tomorrow, there's a good chance that I'll be missing MFF.

So, it's looking like I'll finally be able to do MFF again this year; however, I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible. Due to a lack of time off, I won't be able to leave until at least 7pm on Thursday. If I'm driving, I'm hoping to leave Pittsburgh around 3am on Friday, so I can be in Chicago around noonish. Lastly, I need to be back home in Pittsburgh by midnight Sunday (if I'm driving), or 4am Monday (if I'm riding with someone).

So, if there is anyone in the Pittsburgh, Youngstown or Cleveland areas that this would work for, please let me know. I'm trying to shave off some of the expense of gas for the trip, plus company makes that trip a hell of a lot nicer.

So...I'm a level 7 doing silver difficulty. I join in at the end of the first level. I have to run out on level 7 because of a bathroom emergency, but make it back in time for 8. At the end of the game, I come in THIRD on score and medals despite being 10 levels below the next highest person and missing two levels and I'M the one to get kicked out of the game.

People are just stupid.

I came across this game called "Artemis" today while watching "Extra Credits", and became so excited that I had to buy it.

Basically, it's a starship bridge simulator (much like the Enterprise in Star Trek) that uses LAN technology in order to have a group of people play different roles on the ship. People can play as navigation, weapons, engineering, communications, science, and even the captain. The more I test it and read up on it, the more I want to throw a party and turn part of my house into a starship bridge.

So yeah...I'm REALLY excited about this one!

Personally, I think it's when I see character sheets where 50% or more of the description goes into how their penis and anus looks (especially those ones where there are four images: one body, one anus, one flaccid penis and one erect penis). I'm not condemning anyone's freedom of preference, but it just seems that it devalues the worth of a character. A character, just like a person, is a sum of their experiences, and when either gets to the point where their worth is characterized by primarily their sexualization, it just seems to make the character less rounded and exciting.

Okay, with the onslaught of news reports of the goings on up at State College regarding the pedophile scandal in the football dept, I've been trying to come up with some understanding of where the scales tip between hero and monster.

Some of the bloggers that I read have equated nearly everyone up there as mentally ill with hero worship syndrome, and have pegged the entire football coaching staff as predator-enabling monsters. While I think assessment might be a little wrong, I have been trying to figure out where the line is, and if there really is a line between the two.

Let's juxtapose the players involved here really quickly. Let's say that Galileo who brought us much scientific advancement was found to have preyed upon two young boys. Now, granted, one could state that the era was different, but does this make him a monster in our eyes? Does this nullify any gratitude that we would have for the contributions that he has made? Is there a way that he could still exist as a hero and a monster in our minds?

That is the question that I'm trying to figure out.

Now, in the case of Joe Sandusky, there is little doubt in my mind that this guy was a manipulative monster. This goes way beyond a moment or two of weakness. However, because of the remainder of the staff's lack of action classify them as monsters as well? Are all of their prior achievements and successes null and void?

I've been trying to do a lot of soul searching on this lately, and I can't say for certain either way. How do you all feel about it? I definitely condemn the action, but can I still have them exist as both hero/monster in my mind?

Needed to do a bit of a messenger purge lately. Just got to the point where too many on the lists I either didn't talk to, or seemed to make it clear they didn't really want to talk to me.

Not really intending to be emo with this. It's just annoying to see what time does.

No MFF for me this year. Sadly, I got hit hard with some bills that ate up all my money to go.
