There was a horrible accident and our beloved border collie, Axl, did not survive. He has been in our family practically since birth (picked him out at 2 weeks old), he was almost 7 years old. His last breaths were in my arms. Our family is broken hearted and our home is so very empty.
I am doing pay what you want commissions to raise money for another dog. We have been talking about adding another dog to our family for quite a while. Axl can never be replaced, he was one of a kind and perfect. We believe that moving up our timeline for another dog will help the grief, especially for our young son.

It just doesn't seem real....
Posted 12 years agoIt still hasn't really hit me that on October 12th my big sister was murdered... Shot in the head by her would-be ex husband. She had a restraining order, she moved out, she was moving on with life and the divorce was almost final.... apparently Josh couldn't handle that and decided to break into her apartment and shoot her in the head in front of my two nieces (ages 2 and 5) and taking the youngest with him. I was at the hospital with my sister almost all day as she lay in bed on life support. I was the first person, along with my dad that the doctor told she had passed, the bullet tore apart her brain (it was a hallow point), I signed the release to let her be an oregon doner... but it still isn't real to me.... I packed up her apartment, I saw all the blood... but it still doesn't feel real to me.... I feel numb, I feel broken, but I feel like I need to be strong. I've taken on everything so my parents can focus on what they need to in order to get through this. In the process of dealing with everythin, I've been approached to be the spokes person for domestic violence, to give my sister a voice and to prevent this from happening to others, to bring domestic violence into the light and bring awareness... I like that its keeping me busy... but I just want it to feel real....

On Saturday, October 12th, my big sister was shot in the head in front of her two young daughters. I'm not going into detail on it, if you google "Jessie Cavett" there are numerous news articles on it... I hope to soon have time to finish art, but it just isn't priority right now...

Return from a hiatus
Posted 12 years agoI kind of slipped away from FA for a while.... it got to where I was seeing nothing but drama in journals or people begging for money. Posting that your open for commissions and stuff is all fine and dandy, but when EVERY week your posting for emergency commissions it gets to be a bit annoying... I've also been getting disappointing in a lot of the art I've seen being uploaded. Not that its bad or anything, but styles are changing and its making some really good artists look like they are using another persons style and it just doesn't entertain me.
Anyways, I'm back now. I'll get to working on things again and posting them up. Currently working on an inflatable kangaroo :)

Buddy + furlandia review
Posted 12 years agoOne year ago today my best friend was laid to rest. When it comes to Connor and being a mom it seems like this year has just flown by, but when it comes to Buddy it seems like this year has gone on forever. Many nights I've spent crying over the fact that my best friend is no longer with me, and that Connor will be growing up without him. He had his issues just like every living thing does, but he was perfect to me, many times over we saved one another. I saved him from the pound, and when things got dark and I felt like I was alone, ready to end it all.... he was there. He was and always will be my best friend, and the best dog ever. I love you, Buddy. I miss you so much :'(

I don't know where to start with this. I think the best place to start is with an apology. The con-goers and some of the staff were not properly informed that a film crew from MTV's True Life would be there following around a staff member. For being uninformed, I apologize on behalf of the convention staff. It was a mistake that is not to be repeated. On the upside, though, since everything has one, MTV made a donation of $1,000 to the charity (P.A.W. Team), which was awesome since the donations from people attending the convention were piss poor. Seriously, guys, its upsetting to see how UN-GIVING people can be. I was in my den for 99.9% of the convention, so for more information on the MTV crew, I think Triss explained it best in his journal here >> http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4633012/
Preparation for Furlandia was crunched and stressful. 4 months of planning was just NOT enough time, but we managed to pull it off. The majority of the staff, myself included, joined the furlandia staff after the date of the convention was set. We knew we would be crunched for time but we did not want to see it fail without putting in some effort to help. If the convention failed, we wanted to be able to say "It didn't fail because we didn't try... we gave it our best." alas, though, that is not the case as it was not a failure. The staff gave it their all, and like all first year conventions we made mistakes. But nothing that cannot be worked and fixed for next year.
Aside from the camera's, another issue people seemed to have was that Sibe was there. Our local husky who does not have the best of reputations. I, personally, have nothing against sibe. I hosted the first ever salem meet with my partner in crime,
where we had over 120 people attend, none of that would have happened if Sibe hadn't give me the idea. Our conversation went along the lines of talking about how to get a convention started, and that before you start planning a convention the best thing to do is start with meets...and we did, and it was great. If Sibe hadn't given me the idea, I wouldn't have met so many cool people. At the time, I didn't know his reputation and once I learned his reputation I really didn't care. Does it really matter what someone did a million years ago? It has no effect on me at all, and the rumors didn't seem to fit into my view of him so I just let them roll of my back like rain on a bird. What ever happened to furries being "accepting"? I would be perfectly fine if he joined us again next year for furlandia. He was on good behavior this year from what I was told.
I think people should build their own opinion of him instead of going off what they get told from people.
Now, I was in the den most of the time, so that is where I will go with this review.
I want to say thank you again to all of my dealers! You guys were awesome, and thank you SO much to those who were willing to adjust your tables for me when I made the decision to move the artist ally into the den. The location for the ally was horrible and nothing like we were promised, so I was very pleased that everyone worked together and was able to get them into the den, even if I did have to step on some toes to do it. Due to UN-expected expenses, complements of the hotel, a lot of our attendees were very short on funds (shorter than normal for the furry world) and so sales were fairly low across the board. And though that had nothing really to do with me, I would still like to apologize for it and hope that you guys come back next year. The dealer den was not without its flaws, but they are ones that were noted and we hope to avoid them next year...like only having power on 3 out of 4 walls, next year we will plan it out to have power for ALL the dealers that need it.

Posted 12 years agoSo I haven't been on here a whole lot uploading pictures, but I've been commenting when I get a chance and have been attempting to keep up on reading journals and liking pictures. Alot of my attention has been focused on political things going on (lots of 2A rally's; planning and attending), but more than that alot of time and effort has been going into the new up-coming local furry convention, named Furlandia located in Portland Oregon. I have been put in charge of the dealer den and have been contacting (or attempting to contact) local artists who would like to attend. People complain WAY to much
Posted 13 years agoSo, I havent been on here much due to working long crazy hours at work, but I -DO- come on here to check/like pictures and journals every few days so I'm not -too- out of the loop, and I've got some stuff that needs to be scanned/uploaded and I'll probably do some of that next week on my days off (I have four, in a row....I'm soooooo excited!!!)
BUT! Onto the purpose of this journal. I was recently included in a picture that my friend
had gotten commissioned. I thought it was cute, and unless its something I'm paying for I'm really NOT critical about how people draw me (make my eye markings a little off? make them circles? dont make my legs look all flamish, give me ear tips, instead of full ear colors? ITS OK!) I am just thankful that I was included in the picture, it was a nice gesture, and in a way its kind of like a gift.....but than I look at the comments and though -almost- everyone says something nice about the picture, thanks for doing it, all that stuff, I couldn't help but notice how many people complain! Your fur is a shade or two darker than its supposed to be? OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING!!! Than I continued looking at recent submissions and saw alot MORE complaining from people who were given gift art (people I don't know, and art that I was not apart of). People are just so ungreatful now days its retarded.
So, Coyot, thank you for including me in your commissioned pictures multiple times, I really appreciate it and enjoying seeing the DIFFERENT ways people make me look <3

Posted 13 years agoAfter rainfurrest I havent had a lot of time (or any, really) for FA, art, furry drama, or anything like that. I'm still here, but I've been slammed with work (a lot of it @.@) and inbetween and around work I've been busy playing wife and mom to the two main men in my life. So, this is the brief update sent to you from my phone while I'm on my way home from work. I hope you are all doing well and once things settle a little ill try and throw some new art up :)

Posted 13 years agoSo, I'm late on doing this but I've been working and being a mom lol I missed my little guy SO much while I was gone, but still had a good time :)
Spent about 90% of the time in the dealer den working on art, which I LOVED. I got the con and table paid for in just the first day, so that was pretty awesome :) Met alot of new people, and did a few rather interesting characters. I think my favorite two badges that I did were the purple giraffe and the purple owl. Both were different, both were fun...both....were purple? lol the Owl kicked my butt, I re-did that damned badge about 5 times before doing a pose that I liked that didn't look like Big Mama from Fox and the Hound lol
My Roxy partial was finished in time for the con, but I couldn't wear it because the head was to small, so NEXT year, I'll be suiting lol
Loved getting to see all of my original pack of friends, the ones that are mostly drama free (yeah, I don't hang out with those drama PDX furs really, so don't lump me in with them D: ) I had a couple drinks with my Koda one night, but only got a slight buzz, than no more drinking the rest of the con. I'm not a big drinker (used to be, but not anymore lol) I still love mixing drinks though <3 so fun.
The dance at con could have been better, they should move it into a smaller room so that there isn't so much open standing space (thats what makes it lame!).
The variety show was also a huge bust this year. WTF was up with having no stage ninja?! He was ALWAYS one of the best parts!!!! EVERY act that went on was either singing or playing an instrument, so there wasn't much "variety", there wern't very many acts, and some of the acts seemed very unprepared. Seriously having to restart a song 3 times??? just use improv! I do have to give some kudos to the guy who sang "Will you wear the pelt and mane" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW--dJjNk3w) because after being in panels that he attended and having had conversations with him in the dealer den I know how nerve racking it must have been for him to get up infront of everyone and sing a long song like that. I don't know if he wrote the song, or if someone else did, but for being a bundle of racked nerves he did good, and he stuck it out through the whole song. There was also a guy up there who played the guitar and wrote his own song "er ma gerd" that was pretty funny and rather catchy (cant seem to find a youtube of it, so if anyone has it on video, let me know???)
Also, the hot tub SUCKED!! We all got SO itchy!!!!! Its supposed to be a salt water pool and hottub.... but along with the salt water some genius added in chlorine ... which made for bery itchy furries, NOT FUN! needless to say, we did not to that for more than one night.
ALSO, a super awesome part of the con, I got to meet matracies, and I have the little card to prove it! Not just "oh, I went to one of her pannels" (which I did) but I actually got to meet her and talk to her. She is really nice, not your typical "better than everyone else" kind of person. She likes to teach people, which I've learned is why she does not take fursuit commissions, she would rather teach you how to make one rather than make it for you. she is "teaching you to fish" so to speak, than you can eat for a lifetime! lol

Posted 13 years agoSo, I feel like there is alot to update on, but not alot all at the same time.
I have not been doing a whole lot of art lately, I've been working on things while Connor sleeps, unless I'm sleeping too (since thats the time he lets me sleep lol) As for the free art I have that is waiting to be mailed out, it will be mailed out soon. I just have to unpack it. While I was in the hospital with Connor Chris' grandma came over to our house with him to do some last minute stuff to make sure the house was ready for the baby... and that included packing away all my art stuff that I left all around the living room (hey, I wasn't expecting to go into labor yet lol). so dont worry, those WILL get to you! They are in addressed envelopes and everything, just packed away.
We are going to be packing up within the next couple of weeks since we are moving. Our complex is raising rent to over $1000, I like these apartments for the most part, but they arn't worth that much. So we found a smaller complex, lower prices, and its only a few blocks from where our horses are at. The new apartments also have their own off leash play area for dogs which is PERFECT for Chopper, and a fenced in playground area which will be great for Connor.
The horses are doing fantastic. Shasta's mane and tail are growing back from when we cut them (remember, when we got her they were nothing but giant knots of hair). Prissy follows me around like a dog out in the field. I'll be able to ride her soon! Might attempt it tomorrow :) I already jumped up on her last week, but my vag was NOT ready for that yet after having Connor.
Connor is doing super good, he is such a good baby, and I love getting complements on how cute he is, how well behaved he is for a baby, and how good of a job we're doing with him :) He is all smiles, and boy does he have the cutest smile ever!!
Also, the snakes are moved into a MUCH bigger tank now, I don't think they will EVER get big enough to outgrow that tank lol also on a snake note, it seems to have popped up again about me live feeding my snakes. Most were in notes, and they weren't all aggressive pissy notes like how people got in an incident a while back. So, just for the rat lovers sanity, we don't feed them rats hardly ever. We have a constant supply of chickens of all sizes for them to eat. Yes, we still feed live, but at least its not rats anymore, right? lol sad thing is, these chicks are SO stinkin' cute >.< but for ever ONE that gets eaten, there are about TWENTY more that are still running around the farm for me to play with, unless a coyot gets them.

My hubby, , and myself will be sharing a room with our good friends and . Me and Shimmy will also be sharing a table in the dealer den where we will be selling tails (yarn tails and fur tails), badges, bookmarks, travel mugs, keychains, and a few other good's aswel :)

Posted 13 years agoSo, I havent been on here, atleast being "active" for a little while. My reasoning is simple, and I had our baby May 17th at 11:26pm and spent that entire day pretty much at the hospital; I was in labor for around 18.5 hours. We had to stay at the hospital until 8pm on the 19th. I've been spending the week with Chris and our baby, Connor, just relaxing, getting the hang of our new schedule, and getting ready to go back to school. Chris went back to school today, I don't go back until Monday. Gotta say, I'm not looking forward to it, I don't think I'm ready to leave Connor just yet lol I'm used to him going to school with me in my belly, and now he has to stay home :(
Art wise, its on pause until I track down my art supplies. While in the hospital to help out Chris' grandma helped straighten up our apartment (I had art stuff all over the livingroom lol) and so now it got put away... I just don't know where that put away spot is at just yet >.< Once I find it though, I've got alot of pictures in my head, and ones that are sketched out that will get finished and uploaded.
On that note, I hope everyone is good and doing well. My last couple weeks have been full of ups and downs, and that is just kind of life.

Posted 13 years agoWell, Connor is "due" on Monday, I've kinda gone from excited and wanting him to be here to just wanting him to stay where he is at. I'm used to him being in my belly, he's been there a while now and I've had a REALLY easy pregnancy. The first two trimesters I had crazy morning sickness, but after I was done with that I've had it REALLY easy, atleast compared to most of the people that I know who've had kids. Hell, I never got those odd cravings, I hardly even gained weight (and in fact, I've LOST weight). Sure, I've been unable to do some things (such as roller blading and riding my horse) but still, I'm comfortable with him just being in there lol
On another note, Chris and I are chugging along with School, just gettin' it done. Most of my classes are just reading, taking notes on lectures, and than the quizes and exams. Exception to this being my cartooning class, which is just REALLY dumb because of how slow it is. Seriously, 2-3 weeks to do a single panel gag cartoon is crazy.
On a slightly comical note, at my hubby's expence, my horse bit him in the back/side. I was in the barn, my horse was standing guard, and Chris was between my girl and his, on my horses blind side, she went to bite at his horse to tell her to go away but didn't see it was him and so got him instead. Being inside the barn all I heard was chris making an in pain sound and what sounded like him tripping over the plywood that we put over the mud at the barn entrance, only for me to go out and make sure he was ok to see him kinda holding his side/back and telling me that Prissy bit him. As he says "Its a good thing horses don't have canines" she got him pretty good, when we got home I put some nice cool lotion on it, its been changing all sorts of colors but it will heal up just fine, Chris is handling it like a trooper. Other than just SAYING that it hurts, it dosn't seem to bother him.
I need to post up some art, I'm slacking hard core on my uploads... I need to scan/take pic's and than get them up @.@
's birthday is comming up, same day as Connor's due date, so everyone should go wish him a super happy birthday :)

Well, on the horse front things are going well. Its kind of cute because Prissy wont let Shasta come close to me. Prissy comes up and nuzzles my belly, and she will follow me around the pasture, but the second that Shasta gets to close she makes sure its well known that Shasta needs to back off, and if she doesn't than Prissy will make her back off, but its ok, Shasta spends -most- of her time with Chris, though she does love to follow Prissy around. Between the two of them my girl is definitely the lead mare lol
Connor is due here in just a couple weeks, we still need to get the room ready. My sister is giving us a crib (the one we already had wasn't going to work), and one of my sisters man friends is giving us a dresser for Connor (which is awesome because we have SO many cloths for him!). We have lots of diapers too, I ordered a box of 274 of them off of Amizon for crazy cheap, so that really excited me, and we have a few packs of size 1's, and a few good sized packs of baby wipes.
Right now Chris and Buddy are driving me nuts lol Buddy keeps trying to be all up in my space and Chris wont stop popping his gum (which makes Buddy even MORE in my space because Buddy hates popping((gum OR balloons OR anything that pops)) grrrr) and when Buddy tries to get up in my space he has to invade Chris' space and everytime Chris tries to move him Buddy snaps at him. IM TIRED OF IT >:{

Nike is being cute, lately anytime we come home from being gone she watches us walk up to the door from the front window, than when we get to the door she is there to meet us, such a good cat.

Hera has been enjoying the season of hatchlings, George and Apollo are preferring to stick with the rats, but Hera has been feasting on chicken dinners. Feeding Hera chicken has shown some very interesting things. I'm used to the normal way of seeing snakes strike their prey and all, but Hera did something even new to her. I won't go into details because it is really sad.

Hopefully this week (my goal is Friday) I will have finished art scanned, taken pictures of, and posted because I know I'm way over due for some of it lol
