Posted 5 months agohello everyone! I rarely write about my life here, but today I want to share something with you. Don't read on unless you want to read something sad.
I have a lizard. the leopard gecko. Her name is Moon. She's a very sweet girl. I bought it almost 2 years ago and everything was great. She lived her best life by my side.
but about 2 months ago, she got sick. She started having problems with her eyes. She couldn't open them, and her eyelids were swollen. And I took her to the doctor. To be honest, I've already taken her to the doctor 6 times, because after her eye problems, she started having problems with nutrition. She just refused to eat anything. 3 different doctors tried to help her. At that time, she had an inflammation in her mouth and refused to drink water.
only the last doctor was able to finally diagnose her. she has follicular stasis. as I understood it, she tried to lay an egg, but something went wrong, and the eggs remained inside her, and because she refused to eat, she weakened, which made her immune system poor. That's why she started having problems with inflammation in her mouth and eyes.
In fact, her first period almost killed her...
Now the doctor has prescribed her antibiotics, which I have to inject her for 2 weeks. and I also have to inject her with medicine for inflammation and dehydration. She was prescribed calcium injections because her bones had become soft.
I am very afraid of giving injections to animals. I just start crying when I have to do this. The lizard's paws are very small, and I have to give it an injection in this place somehow.
to be honest, I managed and gave her 2 injections already. But my hands were shaking.
I also have to force-feed her. I bought a special food for her. it is a food for weakened lizards and it is in the form of a gel. I couldn't imagine that putting something in a lizard's mouth would be much more difficult than giving it an injection...
to sum it up. Then Moon needs surgery. The doctor said that it is necessary to remove the eggs from her uterus and then she will get better. but before the operation, I have to give her a few more injections, as prescribed by the doctor. These two months have been difficult for Moon and me.
