Donation Update
Posted a week agoI want to start off by thanking every last one of you who donated so far. My employee and I left at 6am and came home at 6pm looking for a good price for the model of cameras we liked. The original price and most common price was s./ 1,119. We managed to get it for s./ 809. We were able to purchase them with everyone's help. I posted the receipt (cropped to remove personal name and ID number) on my bsky if anyone is wanting to see the receipt.
We still need help paying the rent coming up in 6 days. The landlords know the situation and they are understanding. I actually walked in on them about an hour ago investigating the matter with a couple neighbors and he found footage of them leaving with our stuff into the mountains. They haven't stopped caring. They insist I reopen but I can't reopen unless I guarantee the safety of my employee and my home.

Robbery and Donation update

There is two types of people here in Peru. One "It's not your fault, what can I do to help you?" and "You were so easy and stupid. It was your fault". I spent all afternoon speaking to my neighbors. One of my clients tried to clear up the video footage to get a face. It was too blurry. We were supposed to meet with the police today but they turned us away. They told us there was nothing further to do. They couldn't follow the phone and I had no proof I ever had the laptop (receipt or photo or model or anything).
We showed the footage to anyone who would look. We begged the locals to be careful. A couple locals pointed me into some directions for help or an electrician that can install the camera. We got a model we want to get but it will cost between $450 and $500 for the whole set (including monitor and set up). We originally thought it'd be about $50 but when we looked at the models, we realized it was a blurry option.
Apparently the crime rate has gone up significantly in my area. Every store owner I spoke to (I am friends with a lot of store owners because I ingrained myself into the community) had a story from this week and the past week where they were targeted. The police told us to get a lawyer and private investigator if we want to recover our lost items. Otherwise, we should consider it a loss.
Me and my Employee are trying to make jokes about being robbed so we don't harbor fear and jump at every man that we walk past. We are trying to stay smiling, especially since she is so young. Our landlady has come over and tried to make us feel safer as well. The community is doing its best to support us.
On a different note, my boss gave me an ultimatum today which ended in my resignation. If I stayed, I would have been mistreated further and I would sign a contract allowing his conduct. There was no way I could stick it out. He spent an hour telling me how service agents need to take whatever harassment received and say thank you. On top of running out of the building to deal with the robbery, we just couldn't work together any more.
With that being said, I have cried multiple times through out the day. I have received a lot of kind words and some donations to assist with staying open. I don't know who is donating but even a few dollars mean the world.

I Was Robbed...And I Need Help

Yesterday, on the 23rd of October, my store was robbed. I had opened a small bakery to follow through on my dream of people tasting what I had to offer. There was a couple of pieces of art I was going to draw to announce it but had gotten busy. Someone came in and took advantage of my kindness and understanding to get me to walk outside of my store with my back turned to the door. I wasn't far. In less than a minute, someone ran in and stole over $2,500 worth of tech and cash.
If this was the only thing that happened, it wouldn't have been so devastating. The day before, my new doctor asked me to get a couple of exams to see if I had ovarian cancer. Something I had been worrying about for a couple years now. My friend died of stomach cancer this weekend which kicked me into gear to start getting checked out, but fawned away at the thought of more bills. My cat has been suffering from cancer for over 5 years now and started degrading over the weekend so he had to get some emergency check ups.
My store had already received two other tragedies this month. We had a rat come in and destroy a bunch of product and a little bit of the small reputation we had. We had to replace half our tables to stop an infestation of wood eating beetles.
I understand there needs to be a fund for emergencies before opening a store like I did...and I did have one. It got eaten up very quick by the bug infestation. We were having cameras installed next month (due to low funds) but we didn't have any inside. My attendee was young and an easy target. I don't speak much spanish...I was easy to overwhelm and remove from the situation. We both believed people to be weird...but good.
What was stolen:
Acer laptop
Apple tablet charger
Xiaomi Rednote 11
56 soles (equivelent to $17, but all we had for the remainder of the week)
I can't afford any of the upcoming medical items I would need. I am pushing off checking out the cancer again (we are already certain there is a cyst as big as my ovary but have not confirmed it to be malignant or not). I am most likely losing my job here soon as my boss was not happy with me running out to deal with the police. I had just used all my personal savings to go back to school and I had such high hopes for the future. I keep getting hit and tossed around by the world and I can't find even a second to breathe and calm down.
I don't want to close my store. It's so new that it costs to stay open, with little sales. All of our customers return and talk to their friends about us but I am talking we are only 4 months old. Stores usually don't see a good stable intake for 8months to a year.

Ad Campaign upcoming

I plan on running a huuuuuge campaign here starting on May 1st. It is currently just a plan as I have been really busy recently. I have been preparing for this campaign for a few months now, and only have 12 adopts prepped for the campaign. What is this ad campaign? For those who have been watching me for a few years know that I have done a campaign once a year. The first year I did a Goddess Adopt campaign and the second I did a YCH a day campaign. My campaigns typically run 30 days long, a new post daily.
So what is this year's campaign? I have gotten financial assistance from a donor to run a 6 month ad and do a longer campaign. So what is slated for the campaigns?
Every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday: Monsters/Demons
Every Monday: Rest Day
Every Wednesday: Artwork done for Commissions
Every Friday: Companions
Every Saturday: Constellations/Zodiacs
There will be 30 Monster/Demons (5 already drawn)
There will be 12 Zodiacs (5 already drawn)

I quit my job!
Posted 8 months agoWas working a 9-6 that would keep me after hours and also text me on my days off or vacation for work matters. Had literally 0 time to even cook food or draw. I gave them a 40 day (wow long time) to replace me and that I would train them because I am THE ONLY ONE ON THE SALES TEAM so April 1st? I will be a free woman again.

Posting Art + Hospital Update

The art that I am posting in the following days is all "older" art mixed with "post nerve damage" art. I will try to add when the art was done as to not confuse anyone about where my art stands. A good identifier is that after my hands started seizing, I started doing lineless art. Paintings done without lines are typically the ones after my issues. The ones with lineart is before the issues started.
I am being admitted into the hospital next thursday (January 9th) for my next surgery. They won't be operating on my arms so I do hope I can draw a bit while I am there. If not, does anyone have any movie suggestions? I have 5 days in the hospital and need recommendations.

Possibly Opening One Painting Slot
Posted 11 months agoI have been considering taking ONE commission this month to help with the costs of upcoming surgery. I need to get blood work and pay for extra doctor stuff. I have a new style that came out because of my hands working differently. I haven't posted the examples yet because they're Christmas themed and Christmas presents for people I know, but my question is...
Would anyone be interested in a commission?
I would hate to open them and then not have any interest. Because of my limitations, I would only take one slot. The cost would be $400 for a fullbody and background in a painted lineless art style. Fully shaded and complex background.
Half Body would be $275
Portrait would be $200
The prices are firm and cannot be negotiated. I can take payment plans for over $200. Complexity for character may incur fees.

Doctor Update and Future Notes

So to touch base on my last journal, I went back to a new doctor yesterday to talk my arms as I had recently gotten afraid the nerve damage was due to a clot (Long Story but that's what I got hyped up on). My boss agreed it was a serious thought and even if I ended up being wrong, he wanted me to go get it looked at. I tried talking to my current doctor but he was too busy. SO I saw someone new behind his back.
We talked about my surgeries and where to go from here. How he can help with the pain but I was given some grave news. It may be chronic. I may need to live with it.
I have been getting better at the pressure points that relieve the pain for the lymph nodes but I can't be doing it all the time. The doctor said with my next surgery, it could, COULD, relieve the pressure. I discussed with this new doctor how many surgeries are in my future, considering I was told only 3 in the begininng and I had 2 so far. He told me I need 5 more.
Of course this comes with a lot of bills to pay.
The good news is that the first of five won't be too expensive, but since my art was paying for my surgical bills in the past, and I cannot draw too much, $1,700 seems daunting for sure. I have been trying to get my boss to agree to a bonus all day today to no avail.

Posted a year agoI am sorry to say that my artwork is coming out slowly because of complications with my surgery. I am trying to rest my hands at the same time I am always itching to draw. My doctor said it should be better in a year...

Notice of Rebirth

I have come to make an announcement. This is not news meant to distress you, as it is a notice of rebirth. I will no longer be taking commissions or YCH. I have already removed every old YCH so there is no confusion. If I post an adopt, then I have an adopt open, but I am no longer going to be taking requests, commissions, or working with clients. This is a decision that comes with a lot of thought and a catalyst that built over the past two years. There comes a time to end something, whether it seems like the best decision or not. I tried being an artist and only an artist, but my goals for the future cannot be supported by commissions only.
If I open new slots for commissions, it will be very restricted. It will be something that is focusing on only upping my game for the future project. For now, I ask you all accept that I can no longer take commissions and no, there are no exceptions. I will be taking "Final Orders" until the end of June. I made this decision as it is Disability Visibility Month and my next project focuses on disability. I wanted to honor that.
So what is my next project?
I don't know how much I want to say. I want to make a small 10 episode series about my journey. I will be practicing animation and color theory. I am currently a one person team, but if this resonates with anyone, and they would like to help me bring this to fruition, I welcome you to assist. The world is going to feel calming like Natsume's Book of Friends and take some characteristics from magical girl shows. The main premise is "Where does energy go you can't expel? How does it get recirculated without using it?"
I don't have any desire for it to be famous or for money. I just want it to reach the people who need to hear it. People who go through their whole life in chronic pain, or with undiagnosed disorders, or even stuck in a wheelchair or bedbound. I have been in all these situations and it is my way of expressing my story and my hope with my story, others feel less alone. I am letting everyone in to my experience. You are not alone and you are just as powerful as you let yourself be.

Posted a year agoI doodled a few girls to help my motor skills get back into sync. I am getting better at holding a pencil but I have about 20 minutes before I have to stop for the day. Monday at 2:15pm (Central Standard Time) I will be posting 3 girls based on the Fates and they will start at $5. Whatever they sell for is fate! If you're looking for a pretty gal and you love simplicity but loads of personality, keep an eye out for them! All proceeds will help me recoup from the constant trips to the hospital to drain my arms.

Surgery Update
Posted a year agoThank you everyone for being so concerned for me. The doctor said my surgery went well. I have physical therapy every day and I am struggling to hold some things. I had surgery to remove skin on my arms and it ended up effecting my nerves in my hands. The doctor assured me with every day I will have more and more strength. My left arm was 100% paralyzed after the surgery but since then it has recovered. Now the issues is just small motor issues. I keep trying to pick up my tablet pen but it is currently hard to do so.
Thank you everyone for your patience. Doctor said it may be til June that all the nerves calm down and I am back to normal.

I have been having an extremely hard time recently due to a couple factors. Growing up can be hard. Turning 30 and watching my life around me put some things in perspective. What I want, who I don't, what matters, and what isn't worth my time. I have said goodbyes and I have said some Hellos. I am battling very hard with some depression as of late. Nothing anyone can help with or had a part in. No one can touch my life like that anymore.
Shortly after my birthday, by a few days, my cat was rushed multiple times to multiple hospitals. He was given multiple shots and I even called in an emergency ultrasound. My service animal and long time companion was diagnosed with a terminal condition. He currently is reacting well to the medication, but he will never be out of danger. My vet said it is slowly killing him and all I can do is make him comfortable. I have had Apollo for 13 years and he's been with me through poverty, riches, homelessness, and my first home without an abuser.
He has been there for me when I had severe IBS and sleep apnea and he was here to welcome me home from my surgeries. He learned how to be a service animal by himself and was my angel since I got kicked out. He's even traveled with me to Latin America and I hope he will follow me to Denmark as well. My vet says he may have a year or so still in him. He's doing well currently and you would never know his struggle. He gets shots every Wednesday and is a medical diet.
My day to day job is doing insanely well but I am under a contract that restricts me from officially joining the team. My boss is so kind and helps me during my surgeries. I flew out and met him last October and he even took me to dinner when I had to wait 13 hours in the airport. He's coming here in a month and I am showing him around Peru.
I have my next surgery the moment he leaves Peru. I won't be able to use my upper body for a while. 2 weeks minimum. My goal is to finish my queue prior to going under and to get a few sketchpage adopts ready for my viewers to enjoy. I will not be taking any commissions or doing any YCH until July at earliest. Later this week I will be deleting all old YCH. If you are interested in one and aren't bothered by waiting, please let me know, otherwise it will be deleted, file and all.
The depression is getting in the way of my creating. I know I shouldn't be mourning someone who is still living, but I can't pass by the diagnosis and I can't stop asking my vet "am I prolonging his pain?". I would never want to be on life support or go through cancer treatment, so why should I ask my cat to go through it? I have been reassured that his quality of life is high right now and should not worry.
I thank everyone who is being patient with me including my ko-fi supporters. I pray every day that Apollo is there waiting for me when I come home from the hospital as he is my world. I don't have family or anyone else waiting for me. I am just hoping he can wait for me and long enough for me to heal and hug him again. As he lays with me now as I write this, I hope everyone can, including him, forgive me for my negligence and anger.
Death is inevitable. It's just not fair that he has such a short time with me.

Posted 2 years agoI haven't been posting recently since I got back from my trip to Denmark. I have been lamenting and trying to find a way to get back there faster than just "I can come back again next year". I truly had the best days of my life there with my lover. I would like to keep that dream going. I don't wish to wake up from it again.
I have been drawing behind closed doors for private users to fund some ER funding for some loved ones having troubles at the holidays. Those will be released soon. So here is the timeline!!
200 Watcher Raffle!! (I haven't decided on what to do yet, so if you have an idea, throw it my way!!)
12 days of Christmas (Family themed) YCH. Starts on Christmas and goes for 12-13 days. I have 8 drawn of this already.
The Forgotten Ones (Adopts) Starts the first Tuesday of January and a new one is posted every Tuesday.
Finished Commissions will be posted on the first Friday of January and a new one posted every Friday. (I have quite a lineup waiting)
Chinese New Years YCH posted on January 29th and will be completed prior to Chinese New Years. It is a group shot of 5 characters.
