Crowdfundraiser: Help a kitty get dental surgery?
Posted 7 years agoHey, you minions.
A family member's pet is in need of dental surgery to cure his degenerative tooth condition and hopefully cure his diabetes, and because no one I'm related to has money, a Gofundme has been started on their behalf.

If you can afford it, a donation would *really* be appreciated. Even if you can't, spreading the world and sharing the link would be super great, too.
Please consider?

COMMISSIONS ARE OPEN (who'da thought?)
Posted 8 years agoHey, babies! How've you been?
I'm not bad, thank you kindly. The move and acclimatization to my new home was smoother than I had any right to, and things are swell. My only complaint is that four months of job-hunting haven't yielded anything other than resume-writing and interviewing experience. So, for the time being, I've decided to open up commissions again.
That's right: I'm accepting commissions again, and I'm also offering editing and consultation services. See my profile page for details.
Because I've got to watch out for my hand (and because I'm so out of practice), my output will be a lot slower than my faithful fans were used to. Beyond that, things haven't changed. Send me a note if you're interested in a story or other work, and we'll work something out.
Hope to hear from some of you before long! Be good.
Signed,
Your deposed leader

No more public commissions
Posted 8 years agoHello, my furry little sycophants!
It's official: I'm indefinitely out of the commission business. I'll still work on a private story for the occasional customer, but I'm going to be too busy to pursue writing as a full-time thing anymore. I'll be moving in the first half of June, and between then and now, there's a lot of work to be done that'll keep me from focusing on commissions. I'm happy to be moving, but not pleased about the constraints it'll put on my creative work.
I'm sorry if anybody's disappointed about this, especially the people who had to be taken off my last queue because of my hand pain and now may never get the stories they were hoping for. As I mentioned before, I have no shortage of respect for the folks who can actually live off of their commission returns, but I'm just not one of them and need a more boring job to support myself.
Many thanks to the people who still read and take the time to favorite my work. Many, MANY thanks to those who take the time to leave a comment. My page will remain active, and perhaps I'll begin working on the backlog of favorites that I still need to submit comments to.
Ciao for now...!

2016 Reflections and 2017 Plans
Posted 9 years agoGood evening, my future underlings!
The new year's about 19 hours old now (or will be when I finish this journal), and I thought it a good time to look back and let you all know what's probably going to happen on my page in 2017.
Despite a lot of international disappointments, 2016 was a year of personal triumphs. Foremost among these was my going public with my commissions, which has been a huge thrill. I believe I got all the work I could handle and developed my writing to a new degree of skill and efficiency. Many, many thanks to everyone who commissioned me last year and showed themselves willing to gamble their dough on my ability; I appreciate the heck out of you. Particular gratitude is directed towards Readasaurous and Leostar: you two are my undisputed patronos, having commissioned me a collective 24 times and making me a lot richer in the process. I'm so pleased that you and everybody thought I was worth it.
Disappointingly, 2016 ended with me recovering from hand- and wrist-pain, and therefore needing to shorten my commission queue. More disappointingly, 2017 will probably see the end of my commission-writing career for a long time. If everything goes as planned, I'll be moving in June and hopefully securing a more regular career. My hat's off to anyone who's managed to actually support themselves with commissions as their primary occupation, but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. As such, I'll work through my queue until the beginning of March, at which point I'll only take the odd personal commission 'til the move. After that, I'll write as I please.
You know what they say about the best-laid plans of mice and men, but because it'll cumulatively be better for me, I hope I can play this one out. Cross your fingers for me?
Additional thanks to everyone who chose to watch me, leave comments, and add my submissions to their favorites. Again, major apologies to everyone who was inconvenienced by me lessening my former queue due to hand pain. Thank-you to everyone who gave me a chance, a kind word, or more patience than I had coming. I hope the new year works out well for all of you!

Commissions affected by hand pain
Posted 9 years agoHey there, you cute little people.
A few days ago, I developed discomfort and swelling in my right hand and wrist. It got worse and lessened depending on how much I typed, and naturally, my first thought is carpal tunnel syndrome (my second thought is arthritis). Whatever it is, it's happened before, and I don't want to aggravate it. As such, I'm reconsidering my work schedule and retooling my queue. I've been writing pretty consistently since the summer - mostly managing one commission per week - and I need more frequent breaks. I'm thinking of taking a week off following each commission.
Given the limited time period I still have for writing commissions, this means that all remaining empty slots of my queue will be cut...along with some that have already been taken. I've spoken to all affected parties and gotten their okay, but I still feel compelled to apologize publicly for changing our business agreements. My deepest apologies to Read, Chris, and Hyao for pulling the rug out from under you. I wouldn't have done it unless I considered it absolutely necessary.
The shortened, filled queue can be seen below. I'm sorry to tell everyone on it that this too is but a tentative list. If I can't get my problem under control, I will need to lay off more work as I see fit. I hate reneging on established plans, but I hate the thought of doing myself permanent harm even more. I'm very, very sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this causes!

ReadasaurousCOMMISSIONS: OPEN (also SPECIAL DEALS and other business)
Posted 9 years agoEvening, my stripey little friends!
Two big things:
1. Commissions are open again, and I got a sale going on! See details below.
2. This may be the last public queue I open in a long time. I'm planning to move in the summer, and after February, I'm going to be very busy with related business. I'll probably only accept private commissions between March and June, and should I actually manage to find employment, I may be quitting commissions permanently. It's too early to say, but I thought y'all should know.
I appreciate my customers even more than gelato, so I'm offering deals to everyone. The more you've supported my work in the last year, the more you can save now!
If you're a new customer, you get 15% off the price of your first commission.
If you've commissioned me 1-3 time(s) this year, you get 20% off the price of your next commission.
If you've commissioned me 4-5 times this year, you get 25% off the price of your next commission.
If you've commissioned me more than 5 times this year, you get 35% off the price of your next commission.
I'll begin working on these on December 5. Please consider supporting your favorite starving dragon at least once more, before he moves on to new things. You won't regret it!
