I'm so embarrassed about all of the music I'm making at the moment. My personal expectations are way too high. But if I don't create these things there's no way of improving.

It's a painful process and I'm not having fun right now.

I really with people who make music and porn kept different accounts for each. I know it's a bother but I honestly don't want explicit stuff showing up in my feed even if I do get good music with it too.

I'm done being bitter about  carseatheadrest's success. I've just been very bitter.

I listened to some of his new album with re-recorded songs and yeah they're sounding great, and he really deserves the signing and the reviews and the success he's getting because he's worked incredibly hard and he's developed an amazing style and talent.

I've been bitter about it because when I first discovered his music here on FA it felt so personal and close and made a big impact on me at that time in my life, and his success makes me feel I should have done more with my life by now, creatively.

But the point is, this is all stuff that I should be doing myself. I need to take strength from others' successes instead of using it to put myself down.

Anyway I'm feeling positive.

Hello I lvoe you

In case anybody's curious/annoyed at my frequent uploads currently, I'm taking part in FAWM, February Album Writing Month, in which I am writing and recording 14 new songs in the month of February. That's a song every couple of days. Rest assured my productivity will slow down come March.

I'm using FAWM as a tool to overcome my fears and doubts in writing and recording. But also for discovering some interesting bands that I would never have heard otherwise (I get obsessed over individual bands/musicians sometimes and find it a struggle to move on).

Anyway it's a bit of fun, a bit of a challenge, well worth doing I think.

I'm trying to get back on the musical horse so to speak, I haven't been giving it as much attention as I would have liked to.

At the moment I'm trying to make sure I play music every single fucking day. So some of this will probably involve making music.

I'm hunting down musicians right now to follow for inspiration. I don't know why I came to FA for this except that I know I found some really great musicians and artists when I was active on here like 3 or 4 years ago (including the amazing Car Seat Headrest)

This is a question for any musicians following me, what DAW software do you use and would you recommend it for a beginner to recording?

I've spent the past week trying to get Ardour working on Ubuntu and it is a right pain in the backside.

I remember a few years ago on FA there seemed to be a real abundance of pretty damn good music on FA, artists really pushing the envelope, tracks that were witty and intelligent, well produced (if not necessarily high quality) and generally inspiring.

I suppose it was a temporary clique that kind of drifted on to other things. But where? It makes me a little melancholy.

Now all I can find is the same techno beat repeated over and over, or some angsty metalhead's whining.

I'm pretty sure none of you would never dream of treating someone like this because of their gender or any other characteristic. But I just wanted to help raise awareness of the fact that terrible things like misogyny do occur within this fandom and it is really not okay (it is never (ever) okay), okay?

Ok so I've started freelancing as a webdesigner. However I'm pretty bad at design at the moment (I'm awesome hotstuff when it comes to coding though) so I'm looking for a partner to design the websites, for me to turn into code and then earn £$€ MONEY €$£.

It will be mainly non furry stuff I guess HOWEVER I do have an idea for a great furry-centric project that would be fab to try out.

Yeah I'm going to commission a tail using the money I get for my birthday.

Anyone got recommendations of tail makers who are open atm? Preferably with examples of previous dragon-esque tails they've made.

There hasn't been a lot of new music from me recently. I've written a couple of things that are either half-finished or that I don't feel too proud of. I'm feeling quite frustrated.

The Plateau
At the moment I'm in a funny place; unable to create anything interesting, musically or lyrically. Technically I feel like I've reached a plateau where I know the basics of playing a guitar but am unsure where or how to advance.

I think this rut is probably caused by either lack of knowledge, lack of stimulation, or a combination. I also have a fear of not having what it takes to be a proper musician (though the rationalist inside me says that's nonsense).

Rising Above It
Anyway, I'm past the point of sitting and mulling about it and I've ordered a couple of books on music so maybe that will help me out. Other than that I suppose the only way to get through that is to just bash out some music regardless of how good/bad it is and learn by making mistakes.

But have any of you - musicians, artists, writers, whatever - experienced this barrier? And what are/were your methods of coping with it?

I wanted a new one for Confuzzled next weekend, unfortunately the artist who was going to do one had some complications and won't be able to do it before next weekend, which is a shame but that's life.

Anyway, can anyone recommend any UK based artists who could do this in under a week?

LISTEN. I love this band. This THE BEST THING.

I thought I might as well go the whole way and make a polar bear suit or something equally ridiculous.

Seriously, past me would be spinning in his grave. A few years ago I used to say stuff like "shoot me if I ever go to a furry convention" and "shoot me if I ever get a fursuit". I thought it was a pretty fitting thing, to be shot while pretending to be an animal.

But now I am sitting around in my brown bear gloves, reading Catcher In The Rye (for some reason my housemate decided reading that book in fursuit would be the least desirable thing ever I can't remember why) and I don't really have any qualms with it any more. I just want to dress up as a polar bear, go on the climate march in December, learn to dance lindy hop and swing my little arse off at Confuzzled in May.

And then you can shoot me.

Is it wrong for me to spend some of my savings going to a furry con? Does that make me a typical frivolous furfag? Fancy free with this money that was given to me with the intention that I spend it on something worthwhile?

I don't even know what else I'd spend it on. Living costs is ruled out because I'd rather be earning that from my day job. Driving lessons I think are a waste of time. Still there probably is something worthwhile I could spend it on if I thought hard enough about it.

But instead I'm considering spending it on getting wasted with randomers from the Internet who are all dressed up as animals.

IDK guys. As my collective conscience, how do you feel about this situation?
