Regarding F4L Requests
Posted 14 years agoI'd like to apologise to Rosaline, Bruce and Ace. I've probably taken too long on your requests, and don't think I'll be able to do them. I'll have to do them another time, but right now I'm still run over with other web design work and trying to arrange a meeting time with the local radio station's manager.
However, I will be completing Dark Wolf's request - probably with only a really simplified background, as I want to get through my other pending requests. I'll also sketch up Chucianci's request, along with icons and refsheets for Tobias and Pepsi.
But then I'll have to get back to work, and set up a study space for this OTEN I'll be doing for the next six months. So yeah, busy old me.

SO DAMN COLD
Posted 14 years agoWhile I've heard about the drastic heatwaves occurring in America, winter has started to take its toll on us Australians. As an occupant of the "sunburnt country", I believe I speak for many when I say it's bloody freezing right now.
I'm sitting here with two pairs of pants, a fluffeh blanket and a hottie (...hot water bottle, you perv). What makes matters worse is the cold actually gave me a pretty bad muscle cramp as well, which I tried to loosen up by taking the bike down town.
All that did was make me feel exhausted riding back up the hill... eh, at least Imade tobias watch me eat had lunch with 
straitis.
Still, I don't think I'm going to leave the house much during this month.

Getting my ambitions back on track
Posted 14 years agoWell, as work stress and social pressure has gotten the better of me, I've decided I'm "dropping out" to study from home - a decision that my parents have luckily agreed on. I have a few more forms ahead of me, but the school has given me approval to apply for a Certificate II in General and Vocational Education (CGVE), a TAFE equivalent of Year 10 which I will be doing through OTEN's distance education.
Though I will need to study 30 hours and complete one assessment a week, I'm free to comfortably adjust my schedule to suit fit (eg. a Wednesday with only four hours study), and in my spare time I will also be able to focus more on my art and music. I promise to get these art requests done, along with the icons and refsheet
asidicpepsi and straitis asked for.
In other news, I got a call back from the local radio's station manager today (regarding work experience I asked for earlier this week), and they seem keen to arrange a meeting time. If all goes well, I may try and get a paying job part-time with them in the later future.
All in all, I can say that I feel a lot more confident in my goals. I've already made an official YouTube channel for Black Static Productions, and receiving emails regarding web development. So my life is busier than it was before, but I will say it feels a lot more enjoyable.
...especially now that
saltwaterserval has finished her exams, and will be spending her summer holidays across the pond. All I need to do is beg my parents to meet her in Sydney... probably unlikely, but worth a shot.

Posted 14 years agoSo I have an extension on an overdue English assessment (due tomorrow), a potential "non-attempt" letter being written by my history teacher, and many other smaller things to catch up on. If I'm not on FA for a while, or appear unresponsive, it is because:
A. I'm studying like hell and everything is irritating me
B. I passed out from brain exhaustion
C. I gave up and decided to do something enjoyable/laggy
D. I'm assuming the fetal position, shivering in a dark corner wondering why I don't have the time to do option C

Insomnia, part 2.
Posted 14 years agoSo I ended up sleeping in today, per usual, but ended up with a terrible headache that put me to bed early (before dinner). I'd had a panadol to get rid of it, but somehow I ended up having a damn creepy dream. Like... low-gravity LSD trip with disembodied spines wriggling around everywhere.
So. I'm mentally disturbed and not sleeping for another two hours. If anyone's on msn could they possibly find pictures of cute fuzzy things to cheer me up?

Posted 14 years agoNormally I wake myself up at 5 AM, about the time when I can speak to everyone before school (well, those of them who sneak on in their class time), but now my extremely busy and painful school schedule has been thrown horribly off course by this godforsaken insomnia.
It's 3:42 in the morning, I've been awake for about ten minutes now and most people I know seem to be studying for their final exams. I have no reason whatsoever to be online right now, but I can't for the life of me go back to sleep as my loneliness right now is infuriating. Now would be a good time to complete homework as well, but I don't have enough time to complete all of it and repack everything into my bag in the later hours of the morning.
Therefore, I do believe I may just have to tumblr now and oversleep later. Oh, nocturnalism, thy doth thou torture oneself?

I first found furries over deviantART back in... 2008? I had a little denial going on for a while and insisted I was only into the "anthro art" rather than the yiff and RP... ended up in the community by the age of 13 though.
*How did you find furry?
A few years ago I joined my first forum, PKMN.NET, and as an alias I'd chosen Ayla the Raichu. Before long she became somewhat of a pokesona, and that led me into the furry fandom through fanart and sparkledogs on dA. Inevitably, I migrated to FA and found the larger community.
*What's your reason for furry (what interested you to get into the community)?
I've been a furry ever since I was able to breathe, pretty much (earliest childhood memory is getting my first pet cat at the age of two). I always used to play pretend, but instead of "mummy and daddy" it was always a game about a clan of dragons or a robotic wolf, etc etc. I just love making up characters, and the creativity expressed by furries as a whole has outnumbered the amount of characters who are solely human.
I'm also a sucker for totem animals and Egyptian mythology, so a lot of animal-human hybrids come up in my spare reading.
*What's Furry to you?
Someone who feels a connection to the animal kingdom, whether it be art, role-playing, costuming or even a spiritual connection. Some people may feel their fursona is a totem animal, or maybe they just don't feel comfortable portraying themselves online as a human and therefore an animal characteristic feels more like a mask to who they really are offline. It all depends on the individual.
*If someone found out you're a furry and asked you about it how would you respond?
At the moment I'm choosing only to associate with other furries, as the general non-furry society has still given us a bad name. I could care less if they asked about my affinity with animals, unless of course they began to question my sexual fetishes. Furry or not, personal information is best kept to one's self.
*What are your favorite aspects of our community?
As a whole, this fandom/lifestyle/whatever is like a giant family. Everyone here gets along with each other pretty well, and we are like our own version of Anonymous. We work together as furries or humans alike, and this is where I feel a lot people actually have sanctuary from their personal lives by associating with a community online, or offline even. It brings a sense of belonging.
*Do you use any furry terms? (i.e. yiff, paws, murr?)
I don't use the term "paws" much, nor do I use terms like "pawsome". However, I have been known to make animal noises and growl/meow when extremely happy or irritated. "Yiff" and "murr" are only really used in the sexual context for me, and only towards other furries.
*What do you wish furry was NOT associated with?
Bestiality in general. People need to learn that a fandom/lifestyle isn't just centered around sex, and that some furries may not like yiff at all.
*How strongly do you feel about someone bashing the community as a whole?
If they don't like it, that's their problem. As long as they're not all out derogatory and disrespectful of the community, i'll let them be entitled to their opinion. All I ask is that our freedom of speech is acknowledged also.
*How strongly do you feel about anyone bashing you yourself for your interest based on the media's aspect of what furry is?
The media is uneducated in general. If they see something out of the ordinary, they focus on the negatives and use them as a scare tactic to draw in more of an audience. It's nothing more than fear-based lies and propaganda designed to manipulate us into believing and/or following a larger cause - mass marketing of industry.
*We all know furries have a lot of sexual aspects in this fandom, What's your opinion on it?
As with any sexuality, people are entitled to their own. Even if I do find, for example, babyfurs and scat - so what? A fetish is a fetish, and we all have them regardless. As long as it's not illegal, immoral or going to harm another person without consent, then so be it. I just steer away from anything that doesn't suit my fancy and simply let them be.

As with any sexuality, people are entitled to their own. Even if I do find, for example, babyfurs and scat - so what? A fetish is a fetish, and we all have them regardless. As long as it's not illegal, immoral or going to harm another person without consent, then so be it. I just steer away from anything that doesn't suit my fancy and simply let them be.
Fursuit update #2
Posted 14 years agoI stopped by Lincraft the other day, and was amazed to find they had different lengths of faux fur in two different lengths and textures - with all of Kai's colours matching almost perfectly! Also, it was lucky that they also have those plastic paint pallets with the round concave dishes in them, so I may cut paint two of those to use for my eyes, or search for a suitable resin and try for the more complex approach.
I'm aware it is probably better to get fur online in the right colour/texture, but price seems to interfere with quality and I find it easier to go back to the nearest local textile shops if I run out of materials. For my next suit, however, I will be taking a more professional approach. I'm also debating whether or not to look in Lincraft or Bunnings for a more suitable wire mesh/plastic canvas (possibly using a light flyscreen for air ventilation/tear ducts) and some springs for the jaw, unless anyone in Australia knows where I can get suitable materials cheaper?
Also, any local fursuit makers in the north NSW region: if i need paws or you have spare materials you would be willing to send, I can do a postal payment anywhere below $100. Please note me beforehand so I can contact you if plans change.

Fursuit Update
Posted 14 years agoHey guys... I've kinda had a bad week, just getting over a stressful breakup (problem still resolving itself) plus overdue homework, so requests might be a little slow. I did get a haircut though, heheh.
As for the fursuit head.
The hardware store didn't have plastic canvas, but I did manage to get wire gutter mesh and plastic gutter guard. I'm not sure how the wire will go when it comes to framing, and the plastic is nowhere near the material I wanted, but I'm sure I'll find a workaround.
I was thinking of doing one layer of framing using the wire, but only enough to hold it. A strip of plastic mesh around the front of the face will be easier to cut out eyeholes, and less dangerous to the eyes. Around the tear ducts I'll try for some black stockings or stretchy tights to made my real eyes less visible, and probably try to get some realistic looking eyes from
Flurrycat. As for nose and teeth, if I don't get them with the eyes I'll find a workaround.

Website Revamp + Free Requests
Posted 14 years agoI've been looking at the Black Static Productions wordpress lately, and it obviously needs a revamp. So when I can set myself up a paypal and get a little extra money (I'll make a journal when commissions are open), I'm going to try for actual webhosting and work on remaking the website from scratch - complete with gallery, downloads, tutorials and online shop. Overall, the graphics and design will be slaved away at and although I can't say I know much about HTML, anything's better than the tacky blog template I'm currently using.
I may or may not create a youtube channel specifically for Thunderpaw/HybridHardkore. Also, expect an upcoming art blog on my tumblr.
Speaking of HBHK, Radioactive Furries VS Poledancing Sharks has been delayed (as explained with my IRL issues eg. school, computer etc.). Regardless of this, Servadile and I are still working on the album while practising in the Gabber genre. In the meantime, I'll be releasing a number of singles and WIP tracks which will be uploaded here.
In the long run, I'm also working on my first partial fursuit - my Dingo character Kaigan Kurone. Any help or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.
