A little ringtail moved in to my neighborhood...
Posted a year agoLast night on his way home from Bible study, my dad saw a ringtail shortly after turning on the road into the neighborhood. It ran from the ditch and across the road before going onto the neighbor's property on the other side of the street.
Tonight while taking the dogs out, I thought to myself, If they encounter that ringtail, they better come right back. I don't want to deal with the musk.
About 15 minutes later, one of them is with me on the front porch when I catch a glimpse of black-and-white bands racing by. I go to get the other one, and when the first one arrives back at the porch, his usually raised tail is lowered and he smells of very strong cat urine.
Anyway, does anyone know how to neutralize bassarisk musk? It wears off rather quickly, but just in case...

AAAAEEEERRRRHHH! (Thank you everyone for all the favs!)
Posted a year agoThank you, everyone who has faved my LEGO Foxtaur MOC pictures. This is a bit overwhelming for someone who is lucky if he sees 1 favorite immediately after uploading something, but to have an average of 7 faves over 6 posts‽ I know it's nowhere near what the popufurs on this site get, but...thank you! Thank you, each and every one of you!

Emergency Commissions: Will write for money
Posted 4 years agoI suppose it's time I do this now or never. Back when I got 30 watchers, I considered running a raffle to get an OC in Heroes of Ryperna. However, I am in dire need of money, so I might as well run commissions of Rypernan versions of your OCs. However, because I am strict when it comes to the world building, there are some rules for OC's I'll allow:
* No dragons/kobolds/dragonborn. There is only one, and it is evil. (I will make an exception if 1, your OC is a villain, and 2, of you want its story to take place in the era before Gaia's Awakening when there was more than one. Yes, there was a genocide committed by the only one remaining.)
* Any LGBQ characters (no T except for fish, some amphibians, and certain invertebrates - they're not at that point yet technologically and Pawd doesn't allow it with Wielding) must be one of the species in these linked lists. I prefer to keep the behavior and orientation of characters somewhat realistic to their feral brethren in order to avoid the zipper back effect.
* No original species. Generic animalistic/plant-ish fantasy creatures such as griffins, ents, slimes, taurs (with animal upper torsos), etc. are allowed so long as they don't have human-like faces, though primate satyrs, centaurs, and monster girls/boys are certainly interesting concepts.
If that is too restrictive for you, I will write transformation stories so long as there is no adult (read: explicitly sexual, lewd, fetishy, etc.) content involved.
Stories are $1 per 100 words with no word count limit (however many it takes) and I will take up to ten slots.

Ornament Raffle by Cloud Nine Creations!
Posted 4 years agoHappy belated quarter-century birthday to me!
Posted 4 years agoSo yesterday was my 25th birthday, and since I didn't have any electronics due to 1) not mowing enough of the lawn and 2) leaving my backpack with my laptop in the car, I didn't get to mention it until today.
How does it feel to be a quarter-century old? Well, not too different from being one year less, to be frank. But my name isn't Frank, so it means I can't tout my "Under 21" ID anymore since the Y2K fix they did for my state's DPS messed up the expiration date system for that ID type and set it to 2021 instead of the proper 2017.
Anyway, I'll post what I got for my birthday tomorrow after I go shopping for my new laptop tomorrow. See ya!

Posted 4 years ago"Stop it. Get some help." - Michael Jordan
I enjoy your art, and I have likely done nothing to offend you in your comments. (If I have somehow done so, please talk it out with me so I may avoid it in the future.) I have favorites your art despite our differences because it's inspiring to me and my writing. I simply am who I am, and that first sentence in my profile is my identity.
Identity. A funny word, and people express it differently. You may use pronouns, and I don't have a problem with that: It makes communication easier in a space where one may automatically assume everyone's a dude or a bot unless the context says otherwise. I simply use things that describe my upbringing: partly because I haven't moved out of my childhood home, but mostly because...well, that's who I am: all my experiences leading up to this moment help define me as a person.
So please, before you block me for simply doing what everyone else does here albeit differently, think for a moment about how upsetting it can be when the person you're cutting ties with has done nothing wrong from their perspective.
Simply put, remember the human.
Update: I also have a severe case of baby-face. To ease anyone's concerns, the base of my profile picture was taken when I was 23 years old.

Chapter Navigation Change of Plans for HoR Chapter 4
Posted 4 years agoFirst off, I just finished putting navigation in the header of each chapter of Heroes of Ryperna. This should make it easier to read the story, especially with the prologue being written after the first three chapters and the first chapter having two iterations.
Secondly, a writing prompt on Reddit gave me some much-needed inspiration, leading to a change in plans for Chapter 4. Instead of a time skip, we'll be getting to know the region of Caldéara a bit better. (Note: The linked passage is not representative of the canon chapter. The "mounts" are more akin to physical guardian angels than familiars, and thus are called guardians. Remember, I am a Catholic writer, and tropes such as "familiars" are to be averted.)
The chapter will be titled "Creeping in My Soul," and if you know BIONICLE, you'll know what song I'm referring to that serves as inspiration for this chapter:
Caldéara is not a place for the faint of heart, for it is where Mount Dracona is located: the volcano that legends say leads to Dracona itself, where the Forbidden Wielders are bound, should you venture deep enough into its caverns. It is also a place where you can find the best allies you'll ever need, for the constant vigilance of its peoples against the volcano leads to brotherhoods forged in fire. Should it fall, though, the rest of Ryperna would not be far behind.
"You may be wiser, but if you think your troubles are over, they have only just begun."

Merry Christmas...from Chiron Beta Prime!

Posted 5 years agoIf you haven't seen it yet, 'Earth's Rise: Chapter 3: Light From Darkness" came out yesterday. This was the first chapter which I had my father help me edit, so there will be a noticable increase in quality.
However! This means that the other chapters will be getting a quality upgrade as well, along with a prologue that I've been meaning to write for a while now detailing what happened before Chapter 1: Terra's feralization, Trevor's rescue, and the like. Not quite a Simarillion, although that is in the works as well to help flesh out the world and backstory.
As for Chapter 4, I'm torn between doing a massive ten-year time skip (already in the works) and filling in that timeskip with incidents that will help flesh out what has happened since Chapter 3 so we're not all lost, including myself when I write it. (I might get too caught up in flashbacks.) Thoughts? Let me know.
And of course, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my followers, and a Blessed Epiphany as well!

Posted 5 years agoI have finished writing Chapter 3, and am currently editing it with my father's help. (He writes and edits grant applications and scientific research articles, so he knows his stuff! I guess you know where I got it from... )
However, this chapter will most definitely be rated Mature. Even though I could very well hand-wave the violence, there is vore, self-harm, musk, and some potentially triggering content.
However, there will also be quite a few Biblical, BIONICLE, and other references to spot, so there's that! It should be out by this Friday, so have a Merry Christmas and may God bless you in the coming New Year!

Forget roadrunners, *this* is the mimic birds' ancestor:
Posted 5 years agoIf you've never heard of the lyrebird of Australia, I don't blame you. I hadn't either until I had already written Chapter One of Heroes of Ryperna: Earth's Rise, whereupon the YouTube algorithm started recommending me videos of a very skilled avian mimic. Here's one from the legendary Sir David Attenborough:
[yt]https://www.youtube.com/embed/mSB71jNq-yQ
(Video embedding no longer works? What the heck, FA?)
This is why, despite how much the platform has, as Mesartians say, "gone to schist," I still love YouTube: It can provide the spark of inspiration an author needs, even if said spark was struck in a bit of a stalking way.
Here's how I imagine the conversation went:
FA: So we have this new author named SupersuMC, and he used roadrunners as a base for a "mimic bird" that attracts its prey by imitating the voices of its victims' loved ones. Thing is, we don't think roadrunners are a good fit. Does anyone have any ideas?
Google: Sounds like the Jabberjays from the Hunger Games.
Facebook: Why doesn't he share it on my platform?! Why did he abandon me?! It's not like I ticked all his malicious software checks!
Wattpad: I'll recommend him all the Hunger Games fanfics he doesn't want to read!
Twitter: I got nothing. He'll just be canceled within a couple of years, anyway. Look at his record!
r/furry: Yeah, we're thinking of banning him at the slightest offense after what he said on Discord a year or two and a half ago. (They actually did a couple of weeks ago. It's a long story that I will only share with those who ask, mainly due to what is involved.)
4chan: Ooh, he's a bold guy! We'll take him! (I don't have a 4chan yet, mainly because I'm a little scared.)
FA: Everyone! We're getting off-topic here! Does anyone know of a roadrunner-like bird that is a skilled mimic? What about you, YouTube?
YT: I know just the thing! Recommending "Lyrebird" videos to account "Supersum Creations" the next time he checks in for a fresh batch of videos! :-D
FA: sigh Thanks, YouTube... And so long as he doesn't do anything "wrong" by liberal standards on FA, we'll tolerate him. You don't deserve him, r/furry...
And it's nearly Saturday and I'll be voting first thing in the morning, so good night everybody!

Why I made Heroes of Ryperna's rating General
Posted 5 years agoSimply put, if teenagers can read works with gore and violence in the library, they should be able to do so here as well.
Furthermore, this will dissuade me from the temptation to get explicit in my works, as I do not want to have to agewall any parts of my stories. Only if a chapter is considered too dark will I agewall it, and even then you could make the argument that the darkest day our world has ever had has been taught to kids.
Teens are smart, they can handle this stuff. If this gets me in trouble, let it be known that worse stuff can be found offline: It's no secret that elementary school libraries stock themselves with Harry Potter and the Inheritance Cycle, and both should only be read once you are in intermediate or middle school. And how many parents took their kids to see Infinity War because SPIDER-MAN?
The parent should be the censor of the child, not the computer, and artists should be conscientious about what they display in general. I am, and I stand by that statement. If it weren't for the fact that my mimic bird gore bit is no worse than a flashback from BIONICLE Legends #1: Island of Doom and that far worse can be seen in your average young adult - aka teenager - fantasy/horror novel, I would censor it. But considering only people at least 13 years of age are using this site, I will put this stuff on a rating of General.

Posted 5 years agoIf you know me from Wattpad, you'll know that I have a habit of seeking out the books that are highly underappreciated by the community and relegated to the bottom of the tags. While this site goes by date rather than popularity when browsing, there's still authors/artists that get swept under the rug (including myself). On that note, I want you to go check out Kryyth! IMVU: 0/10 Do Not Recommend
Posted 5 years agoWe've all seen those ads as we browse FA: "IMVU: Design your 3D fursona!" "IMVU: Express your creativity!" So I finally bit the bait, and it was horrible. You can hardly do any of what those ads promise: you have to rely on what others have made, which, as a bassarisk, I can tell you is not a viable option. And I don't know what it takes to be a "maker" (nor do I want to), but I presume you need VIP, which I do not want after seeing how they run things at FA's parent company. Sure, you can earn free credits (which, by the way, you need to spend hundreds of for just one decent furry head that doesn't even have ears), but that's a grind I want no part in. There are too few options for free customization, and everything decent comes with a price tag attached with real money involved. It's like EA and Activision got together and decided to make a social media app like Facebook, but with these uncanny-valley avatars that are poorly rendered. Yes, that's a paradox, but somehow that's what came across to me when viewing mine, and the skin was still too dark to resemble me IRL!
Ugh, I'm sorry about this rant, but I just needed to get this off my chest after spending not even one hour growing more and more discomfited with the site. I'm staying here and never clicking that link again. Set me up with Blender and Renderstreet instead, I want no part in that site I just wasted half an hour of my life on, other than association by using FA.
PS: Does anyone know how to delete an account over there?

So I'm not a wolf, fox, or bassarisk, but...a deer?
Posted 6 years agoI'm sure we've all had that moment when we ask ourselves "What animal truly represents me best?" Oftentimes we turn to introspection or quizzes, thinking we'll find the answer from within or from some random dude on the internet, and come up with popular yet inaccurate results such as wolves, foxes, or even some rare species such as the bassarisk/ringtailed cat.
I have tried all these options, all these species, and none of them have fit. So instead of wasting my time on Google taking a plethora of quizzes with contradicting results and averaging them to come up with a ringtailed cat or trying to think of something that ends up becoming a mess, I finally turned to God and asked Him to grant me a vision of my true fursona. The answer was not what I was expecting: in the furry world, I would be a deer.
Mind you, this was a result I had gotten on one of the quizzes, but I had dismissed it as a one-off, a fluke. As it turns out, it is often the outliers that bear the most important, for it is only with a complete set of data points that we can get a clearer understanding of the true nature of things.
Update: Nope, totally a bassarisk as it turns out.

Late-Night Damage Control
Posted 6 years agoHey, Robert here. If you by any chance saw a post from October 3/4th, I deleted it after cross-dimensionally wresting control of my account from Trevor before he could do any more damage. To summarize what happened (if you're not following me on Twitter), I basically drank some cross-dimensional juice that somehow took the place of normal instant grape juice. A while after I drank it, I began to feel a little strange as the potion took effect and we were swapped. Thankfully, the furs here in Ryperna knew what happened and helped me get access to my accounts using the abilities I have while in Trevor's form. The other three Wielders will help me pick up the slack while we wait for the effects to wear off at the end of the month, but until then I have to hope Trevor doesn't break any more of Earth's rules while he runs amok powerless in my body. See you in November! - SuoersuMC
Yeah, what SupersuMC said. (Being a Rypernan/furry in name only sucks.) Hopefully Ryperna won't be destroyed while I'm gone. Power in irresponsible hands is corruptive. - Trevor
