Marxcissism
Posted 2 years agoI found this blog post regarding a recent study concerning how narcissists are hijacking social movements to their own ends and it is strangely validating. It's a dense read and you can read it here: https://ponerology.substack.com/p/m.....issism-is-real
Alternatively, you can read the study it references: https://link.springer.com/article/1.....44-023-04463-x
The tl;dr of the blog is that many leaders in the social justice movement do not care about improving social justice and are using these movements as a means to gain power for themselves. They are every bit as authoritarian as those they claim to oppose. Curiously, they also are MORE dogmatic and prone to enforce their morals upon others than the traditionalists they oppose. The rise in reactionary sentiment is precisely because many people see these marxcissists for what they are: power hungry authoritarians. These people are the cause of the backlash against LGBT rights.
Often excused via the paradox of intolerance, these narcissists end up imposing a tyranny even more strict than the one they're trying to escape from. These narcissists aren't some mythical far away groups. They're with us here in furry spaces. Moderating chats and discords. I could name names, but FA rules forbids callouts. Ironically protecting these narcissists and making it easier for them to perpetuate their abuse. Their most favorite tool is censorship. By unpersoning someone, these marxcissists don't have to defend their behavior because most of their followers don't want to jeopardize the "friends" they have by daring to question such dogmatic sociopaths that could easily unperson them too.
If you see someone being mistreated, SPEAK UP. If you get booted from the chat too, then you're doing yourself a favor. These marxcissists don't deserve your attention. And as pride month approaches, if you don't speak up when you see mistreatment within the community, how are you supposed to have any mettle to speak up when you see someone mistreated outside of your community?
Being an ally means standing up, not being a coward.

This journal will make you angry
Posted 2 years agoClickbait title again! This time I bring a very important video essay from CGP Grey:
This Video Will Make You Angry
Brief syopsis: Enraging talking points are infectious and their enraging properties are enabled by social media.
This video tries to address how these platforms can radicalize these ideas to make them even more enraging, but it doesn't go far enough to how insidious this rage-bait is. Twitter for example mandates paring ideas down into such ridiculously tiny tidbits that they are easily misinterpreted. In a large way, a tweet becomes so contextual that either you already agree with the person and it makes sense, or the concept is foreign to you and it sounds absurd and there's no meaningful explanation. This is further enhanced by blocks and The Algorithmâ„¢. Sprinkle in some censorship where uncomfortable truths, the kind that might harm the almighty Ad Revenueâ„¢, are pulled because sponsors don't like them, and you get even more polarization from people that want to spread truth and people that think their consensus is sufficient (magnified by the echo chamber effects) make them satisfied their version is correct. This makes the platform a recipe for rage and rage drives engagement which drives revenue so Twitter and other social media outlets have no incentive to fix it.
Most social media is a terrible place to discuss politics for a variety of reasons. Stop doing it. That's not to say that it's not important to raise awareness of issues, but understand the limitations of the platform and that the platform may prohibit them from properly explaining their, either because of the format or because of outright censorship. Practice more understanding and find ways to discuss topics where people can take all of the time necessary to communicate their viewpoint.

Trans men are men, even school shooters
Posted 2 years agoMy last journal feels extremely spooky. I opened with a vague title, then went on to write about the parallels between the cult-like dogma that causes people to dislike Christianity to the cult-like dogma of the modern LGBT movement and the way narcissists can manipulate and abuse people even in "safe" spaces. Then the very next day, a trans person shoots up a Christian school. That is just uncanny.
This mess is boiling over.
The Colorado Springs shooter identified as nonbinary.
The Denver shooter identified as trans.
The Aberdeen shooter identified as trans.
And now Nashville too.
The media is doing their best to gaslight the public and hide this detail, going as far as to deadname Aiden and change his social media accounts so people cannot see his history. The media is deadnaming the shooter when they are willing to say his name. This ties so much of what I've been ranting about in my journals together. The constant lies and gaslighting by the media, the extreme prejudice demonstrated by LGBT people, even against their own, and the power of narcissists to control people and make their victims feel like they deserve it.
Two weeks ago on the nationally broadcast show The View, Jane Fonda suggested murdering politicians. That's insurrection talk. That Jane Fonda felt comfortable saying this, and that The View was comfortable airing this just goes to show how radical this rhetoric is becoming. And that's just one high profile incident. There are more. Violence is being normalized in this community and with the number of narcissists at large abusing and manipulating people within the LGBT crowd, this is creating a very dangerous situation.
I've been called a TERF and kicked out of many social circles over some of the most ridiculous accusations. Which is absurd as I myself and trans and I have been presenting as female for 23 years now. My persona, the character in my banner, has represented me for that long and it is insulting for people that have only been identifying as trans for two or three years to attack me and call me a transphobe. Of course, the people perpetuating these lies are narcissists doing it for social clout. They create the most ridiculous lies and if anyone questions the evidence they might be excluded themselves, of course there's no chance to even question the accusations leveled against me. That is why secret trials, gossip, and total excommunication is necessary. Their lies require these to work.
Culture does not change overnight and I have seen a huge shift to try and normalize transgenderism in the past 4 years or so. This should be a good thing, except the attempt to ram this down everyone's throats is so desperate that some of the worst possible situations and examples are being used and it is leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of the public and making them less accepting of LGBT, not more. Any attempt at moderation, pointing out how non-trans people might identify as trans to gain an advantage, such as being able to compete in women's sports or go to a women's prison instead of a men's prison are being dismissed outright and being unwilling to work on a compromise or even acknowledge these concerns is making matters worse.
I can only hope more people wake up and see how dangerous blindly following dogma can be and how dangerous enabling narcissists can be.

Christianity
Posted 2 years agoSome people are terribly trapped in dogma. They resort to intimidation in an attempt to harass, bully, and silence people that don't agree with them. They believe their cause is so just that no one is allowed to question them. Many people will quietly support this belief system not because they agree with it, but out of fear. They keep their head down and become very reclusive for fear of angering the mob. It is in this oppressive environment that individuality is suppressed and people don't want to to express themselves for fear of not even saying the wrong thing, but having their speech interpreted the wrong way.
Most of the culprits of these terrible behaviors are in it for selfish reasons. These systems let them flex their narcissism using a variety of tools and makes them feel powerful for their own self-serving ends.
Many culprits aren't even using Christianity.
Christianity gets a lot of hate for it's anti science and anti LGBT stance, but the same kind of dogma that makes Christianity inflexible and emboldens bullies and narcissists exists on the other side of the coin too. In the furry fandom, people that aren't 100% liberal are expected to stay in the closet. People that express dissent are regularly excommunicated. The kind of otherization we're told to be wary of is practiced by these narcissists. The parallels are critical for people to understand that the Furry fandom is not the kind of escape from this oppression that it appears to be. It's exchanging one set of traps for another.
Just as Christians are driven by fear, so are furries. The media has decades, if not centuries of experience for how to control people with fear. These techniques work just as well as they always have, even though the specific boogeymen have changed over the years. Creating enemies where there are none is a common tool to gain power. And narcissists will do this, declaring an enemy so that they have someone to rally behind in a 1984 style 2 minute hate fest.
Next time anyone tells you to block someone and distance from them, you need to consider why they're telling you this. No matter what evidence they provide, a lot of that is easily faked. They're probably doing it to cover their own crimes. They might be the terrible person engaging in terrible crimes that you need to call avoid.

The Narcissist's prayer
Posted 3 years agoThat didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.
- Dayna Craig
It's gaslighting all of the way down.
Suppress information.
Deny it's happening.
Claim it was for the greater good.
Claim the bad result is a nothingburger.
Deny responsibility.
Deny bad intentions.
And finally go full attack to silence criticism.
This describes so many situations. Describes the typical egotistical discord server owner. Describes daddy government's involvement being revealed in the Twitter Files. It's all narcissists. Narcissists everywhere.
Stay safe out there.

Twittergate is a big deal (Updated)
Posted 3 years agoWe now have hard evidence that that Twitter controls and shapes what it's users see across multiple levels and using various tools. FBI even was trying to play damage control up to the second twittergate drop. All of this was suspected for years and was rather obvious to anyone paying attention but now we have basically signed confessions. It is obvious that the shaping of speech is happening on other big tech platforms as well: Facebook, Youtube, Reddit, etc. Everything you think you may know very well could have been a false narrative planted there by pervasive information control across multiple platforms. The damage from pushing such false narratives is real and extensive.
There is a reason free speech is the FIRST in the US bill of rights. "Twitter is a private platform" does not hold water when the people making 'requests' of Twitter are government employees and twitter receives lots of public support, such as de-facto official status via adoption by US government officials. Even under the most generous interpretation of private property rights, big tech has successfully managed to practice Enclosure in the digital age. For brief context on what Enclosure is and why it is bad: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enclosure
If you ever made a "freeze peach" joke you contributed to all of these false narratives and the damage they have caused and continue to cause.
These threads threads, plural and still ongoing, discuss the cavalier behavior of Twitter moderators inventing rules as they go along to justify censoring anyone they don't agree with: politicians, reporters, actors and doctors. They resort to "visibility filtering" which is shadow banning by another name. Shadowbanning is criticized as a pernicious form of censorship because it is so easily abused. They also deployed a range of bots to automatically apply harder visibility filtering if anyone stepped out of line and used terms they did NOT want trending. They defer to the FBI and NGO "experts" to take the brunt of the blame for censorship; mostly to justify to themselves and perhaps to any potential audit to make it look more earnest. But who selects which NGOs and experts they listen to? And why would they be rapidly changing their policies so often if it weren't to censor individuals on demand? They censored plenty of posts that did not expressly violate policies, calling these censored posts "NVOs". There's also plenty of cases of behavior that does violate their terms of service that wasn't censored because it followed the right narrative. That is to say, they were unevenly enforcing their rules. And I should note that overreaching rules enforced unevenly is a trademark of tyrants.
Again, this is way bigger than any individual politicians. This fusion of corporations--which reasonably includes NGOs--and state, is textbook fascism and has been used to manipulate elections. Not merely the presidential one, but others as well. The twitter files seem to center around the 2020 election between Trump and Biden, but look on the larger scale. This was merely the nucleation point where they cemented their power, where big tech asserted their dominance over narratives, deciding which ones are allowed and which ones are not. It's natural for reporting to focus on these points as reporters need that draw to get people to read the story, but do read the whole story. This behavior was evident before across multiple platforms, but now we have receipts of it happening within Twitter.
Democracy, if you really value such a thing, is about decentralized power. Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc represent centralized and unaccountable authority. They're not even financial successes so the free market appeal does not make sense either. If anything is a threat to our democracy, it's this kind of opaque and centralized power.

Commissioning comics
Posted 3 years agoDoes anyone have experience ordering comics? I have a few short story ideas I would love to see illustrated. Some more fleshed out than others. I would love to see them illustrated for a price that doesn't break the bank. Lot of artists struggle to do mass produced drawings and charging 10 panels like they're each separate commissions is prohibitive.
Then there's the directing. Some of my ideas are more fleshed out than others. Do some artists work good with vague plot points or is it better to specify the contents of each panel?
I kind of have this problem with illustration commissions too. I can see an amazing piece and it's hard to tell if the composition idea was the artist's or the commissioner's.

Forgiveness (expired)
Posted 3 years agoNo one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Forgiveness is vital to fostering long term relationships and communities. Due process is a vital part of our justice system. People are not excommunicated entirely based on rumors or out-of-context quotes. Trials also are not private affairs where only one side gets to make a case. Our justice system does not work on indefinite sentences except for heinous acts like multiple murders. This is an age-old lesson we've built into society and should embrace more. Slights, real or imagined, should not be held against people indefinitely. All of these things are the tactics of sociopaths seeking to manipulate and control people. Likely to cover up their own crimes.
Forgiveness also means making an attempt to amend matters. Continuing to harass and slander people is only going to deepen divides and make everyone bitter. You can dig in your heels and continue to hold a grudge for years and try to inflict everyone around you with that grudge and be miserable, or you can open your heart and try to build bridges. Even if you don't agree fully with a person, turning a minor difference into a bitter feud that spills over into the broader community is isn't just petty, it's malicious. An act tantamount to bullying. A community built around bringing people together to celebrate our differences being exclusive based around rumors and accusations is against what it mean to be furry. The very people that are engaging in these witch hunts are accusing people of trying to exclude people, yet that is exactly what they are doing, creating imaginary enemies to exclude people.

The Everspring Family
Posted 4 years agoBit of stream of consciousness rambling here. I've had this idea for a long time now and I kinda need some feedback because these ideas are all over the place and maybe just having it down here (and inviting feedback) might help me get a more concrete idea.
So the basic idea is a family of winged bunnies (Skvaders) for 2+ on one ideas. Heavily inspired by harem animes.
But the concepts are kinda all over the place. Violet and Emma are pastel colored and kinda out of place. Coulait is not quite a striped rabbit but not also not a tan bunny so her visual design feels a bit awkward. I do like where Lilith is at. Her visual design and place in the family gives me lots of ideas for her. Cardamom is supposed to be blue (beverin) but her visual refs take that color a bit literally. Angela is opal-colored and
And their names are all over the place. Violet, Emma, Coulait, Lilith, Lily, Cardamom, Angela, Manna ... No coherent theme at all there. But it's supposed to be a big family so they're allowed to have some different ideas and stuff.
And I still want to add a few more but getting that first ref is usually the priciest. Lily has no visual ref but I'm basing her on a old pic by Mithril07. Manna has no visual ref. I also want a Flemish Giant themed bunny. I haven't decided if her ears should be weighted like Tsillah (another giant bun) but she'd be silly tall and pretty much dragging her ears on the ceiling if not. Angela's design (Opal-colored Angora) means she's generally going to require a lot more technical skill to draw her. Manna also needs a visual ref.
I also feel self conscious about the family being intersexed. Spending so much time in these circles I hardly think about such things but it makes me think if they might be too hard to adapt to anything like a visual novel because of it.
Seems like my ambition is getting the best of me.

Seems like my ambition is getting the best of me.
Commissioning is hard!
Posted 4 years agoI seem to struggle to really get an idea across. Every artist works different and many of the ones I deal work work almost exclusively with visual references. This makes it really hard to express an idea! Pose references, expression references, outfit references, accessory references, mood boards, scene reference (for background/context) and more can take hours to assemble to really communicate an idea and express something new! Using visual references of characters also means some character design errors get propagated and repeated and may end up becoming set in stone. Or a stylistic choice ends up getting reproduced outside of that style and becomes a design element instead of a style element.
Most of my characters have unusual anatomy, and this often requires some references too! And usually some corrections during the sketching phase. Sometimes it feels like I'm nitpicking the piece too much and giving the artist a hard time but I just want it to look right. And some times I just want to not bother them too much so I let small errors slide because it is unreasonable to expect a masterpiece. But at the same time, the reason I pay so much money for art is because it lasts forever and I can enjoy it for a very long time so some of these little errors can haunt me for a long while.
I want to get better commissions but communicating these ideas is such a struggle. I dare say I work better with long winded descriptions. Perhaps I should stick with those.

Lines are being drawn
Posted 4 years agoOne side deeply cares about what you think and who you associate with. One misstep and every good thing you've ever done vanishes. You are to believe what figures in authority positions say, even if those people have made grave mistakes in the past. They engage in constant purity tests to ensure you're one of them.
One side encourages you to think for yourself. You're allowed to challenge ideas. They may mock you, but they won't silence you and will give you another chance to present your arguments better. They're much more chill and easy to get along with, even if you don't agree on every point.

You may be part of a cult! Here are the warning signs
Posted 5 years agoYou may be a member of a cult and not even know it. Here are some of the warning signs:
* Are people guilty by default ("Original Sin") and must take active measures to atone for this guilt?
* Are attempts to refute this default guilt used against the people refuting them? This is also known as a Kafka Trap.
* Is your first reaction to people that oppose your dogma insults, censorship, and/or violence?
* Have you exiled any family or friends that you once respected over their refusal to adhere to very specific beliefs that have had little to do with your relationship until that moment?
Then you may be in a cult. They come in all forms, and not all of them are strictly about faith in deific figures. Mania is sweeping through the world right now, turning people against one another as these cults are growing worldwide. Censorship and exile are tools used to prevent any mutual truth from being found and keep people trapped within these cults. Don't let yourself fall into these traps. You may have to accept exile from your cult, but it's better than perpetuating this dangerous behavior.

Hatred
Posted 5 years agoThe world is a weird place right now. Never before have we had a period of such long lasting peace. The people that have died in war is way down than in previous eras. People can travel all around the world with relative ease and experience many cultures. Despite all of this, there's this strange notion that everything is in an awful state. That the KKK is still running around committing murder and getting away with it. People literally crave this kind of hatred. They want a big scary enemy to yell and scream at like they're enacting their own personal 2 minute hate straight out of Nineteen-Eighty-Four.
The demand for hatred exceeds the supply.
In this absurd demand for a world full of evil to fight, people are taking offense at the smallest of things. Stirring up drama, gnashing teeth, burning bridges, and worse of all, engaging in rampant censorship. This censorship is making it harder to see that the world has never been better. It's fostering echo chambers where people get to engage in their yelling at invented enemies until they're worked up into a frenzy that commits the very kind of mob violence they condemn. People need to wake up from their fever dream that there are nazis hiding behind every corner. Witch hunting might feel good, but it causes real harm.
The mainstream media is culpable for this crazy environment. There is no ratings in telling everyone that everything is fine, that the world has never been better. That violent crime is down. They have to take stories and sensationalize them until everyone is hooked on every tiny update. That's how they make money.
We need to ease up and not be so quick to accuse others of hatred. The whole furry community exists as a way to celebrate differences. If you're a fox, a cat, a bunny, a wolf or whatever, we can still come together and get along.

Posted 8 years agoSavage Worlds set in Eberron
Posted 14 years agoThis journal is for my ongoing Eberron game using the Savage Worlds rules.
I'm still looking for players. My goal is to get 8 players total, and for this number I will definitely need someone familiar with the Savage World rules to act as a helper to keep things moving. The game will be hosted on Thursday, from 8 pm to 1 AM EST, using Maptool and Skype. If you plan on attending get with me before this time to get your character put together!
Get the tools you need at http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=maptool and http://skype.com and http://www.peginc.com/freebies/SWcore/TD06.pdf
The group is in Sharn, City of Towers. First they were tasked with investigating a group of missing craftsmen. Their trail led them to the craftsman being used in a black magic ritual carried out by worshippers of the Devourer and designed to bring down one of Sharn's towers while there was a large event going on. And it turns out the very same materials the craftsmen had on hand were being used to take down this tower. This lead the party to investigate who ordered those craftsmen to the seedy part of town to be captured like this and house Cannith was heavily implicated.
During their investigation they were offered a couple of side jobs. And it turns out the side job they picked up was an elaborate trap designed to set them at odds with the Breeland Citadel (think US Secret Service). They managed to clear that mess up, but now the Citadel wants to know who is behind all of this and have tasked the party with finding out.
Upon returning they were awakened by a necromancer roaming the streets in the middle of the night, claiming to be taking souls to the Keeper. They took out his minions but the necromancer got away. They later tracked him down to his lab where they find his grimoire, but he escaped once again. Cannith may not be the only one hatching a plan in Sharn.

Tabletop RP: Savage Eberron Signup
Posted 15 years agoOnly two years have passed since a devastating war has shook the world. The manufactured warforged that enabled such great destruction still wander the world, free to pursue their own goals, only to be despised by all those that have lost loved ones in the war.
The story starts in Wroat, Breeland, the country hit the least by the war. Trains powered by lightning elementals pass through on a regular basis, carrying goods and providing transportation for the people. Tensions are high between the nations and the noble houses. All are vying for power, but the nations have more to lose, thus the current treaty.
The system I'll be running this in is Savage Worlds, which has a fast and gritty feel to it. Eberron in this way will be only moderately magical, with most of that being from enchanted or artificed items, like the lightning rail. No resurrection and magical healing is less reliable. There's functionally no difference between wizards and sorcerers, and clerics and wizards are also similar, but wizards don't have access to healing and priest spells typically don't benefit from elemental effects. Flavor is what sets them apart the most. Artificer is available, using the Weird Science powerset from the book. Warforged are also possible to play, though this is a tough road to go down.
Despite where I'm posting this, this will not be a furry game, just the standard Eberron races. This will be a weeknight game on Thursday nights, running from 8pm to 1:00 AM EST. Given how notorious online attendance is, I'm looking for a total of 8 players, one of which will be a GM helper which will need to understand the rules and field basic questions so I can focus on the narrative and keep things moving. The game will be held using Maptool. ( http://rptools.net/ ) You can apply to play here. A brief blurb about the character you would like to play will improve your chances of making the list.
Note: It's okay if you're not familiar with the Savage Worlds rules, they're easy to learn. A primer can be found here: http://www.peginc.com/Downloads/SWEX/TD06.pdf

No one up for tabletop RP?
Posted 15 years agoTotal lack of response to the previous journal. I'd like to get a minimum of 6 people, maximum of 8 involved in an online game, with one of those to play the assistant role to make sure I don't miss posts. Why so many? Because I'm quite used to online game attendance. I have 2 interested so far, though one won't be able to join until after Christmas.
I'm considering running it in the Ebberron setting, with a story mostly centered around corruption and internal conflict.
Check out the most recent journal posting for more info.

Tabletop RP
Posted 15 years agoSo I've been itching to run a tabletop game as of late.
The setting I'd be most familiar with is fantasy, though Anlysia has suggested I run Steampunk. Not that I'm terribly familiar with the genre, but I could look into it.
I still need players though! I have 2 people for sure, though one may be a bit late in joining. Online attendance is a big issue and I don't like having to regularly go on without 1-3 players. So if anyone is interested in joining make sure you can attend regularly! I'll be hosting it on a weeknight, roughly 8-12PM EST, though this is flexible.
The system I plan on using is Savage Worlds, which is fast, furious, and fun. Just the right amount of simplicity and crunch. Plus novice characters can tackle big challenges with careful planning and veteran characters still have to be cautious around low level creatures, unlike in D&D where goblins become boring after level 3 (not counting giving them class levels).
So to sum it up:
What: Tabletop style RPG, Savage Worlds in a Fantasy or Steampunk setting
Where: Online
How: Maptool software
When: Weeknight, weekly.
Who: YOU!

Mrilly's Profile
Posted 15 years agoAs a young adult, Mrilly was shy and ashamed of her gender. Much of the other herms she witnessed were total sex hounds and often lewdly endowed. So she's always hid her gender, even though it makes her feel guilty about it when it comes across as a surprise.
Growing up, Mrilly was teased often about her extra set of breasts and, if it was discovered, her gender. She studied alteration magic, a subschool of transmutation, sometimes also called fleshcrafting, hoping through studying this magic she might be able to turn herself into a normal woman and avoid this teasing. The magic didn't work quite as Mrilly hoped and makes the subject's flesh moldable like clay, which means her hands would turn into useless lumps if she tried it on herself.
While shy, she still took the initiative to approach people and over time has really come out of her shell. She's gotten used to being more outgoing than before. She hasn't had any negative reactions to her gender in adulthood, and has become much more relaxed about herself as well. She's even taking more of a liking to the more exotic and unique forms, as rare as they may be. But with the aid of her magic, she can change people to be more exotic and unique. She's since learned a bit of alchemy as well to make potions of often requested changes, but she's only used one particularly complicated potion on herself.
Now Mrilly can often be seen wearing quite eye-catching outfits from the beautiful to the snappy to the downright gaudy. She likes to dress up and has a variety of outfits for different occasions, including Christmas, Talk like a Pirate Day, Easter (which ties into a interesting quirk), Halloween, and seasonal outfits too.
The change Mrilly made to herself through Alchemy is she an egg rather than normal ovulation. She only goes through the process once a year and is fertile for a brief period around New Years and, regardless of fertilization, comes to look quite pregnant around Easter time and this is when she lays it.
OOC wise, I played Sylia for quite a while before wanting to experiment with playing a herm character. It turns out I really liked Mrilly and nowadays RP with Mrilly much more than Sylia.
