Military Leave of Absence

He guides me across the dark waters.
He steers me through deep channels.
He keeps my log.
Yea, though I sail ‘mid the thunders
and tempest of life,
I shall dread no anger, for He is with me;
His love and His care, shelter me.
He prepares a quiet harbor before me.
He anoints the waves with oil
My ship rides calmly.
Surely sunlight and starlight
shall guide me on the voyage I take,
And I will rest in the heaven's port forever.
The real deal this time folks. No more training, no more exercises, time to be put to the test. You know the drill. Heading out to fight the good fight! This time it's for Seven months. Can't tell ya where exactly.

Back from Military things and RIP
Posted 8 years agoBack from doing the Military thing. All went well, except for one tiny thing. The Stylus for my Wacom Mobile Studio Pro, didn't survive. Even though it has a wonderful case and really rugged design... It doesn't float.
You will be missed Stylus.

Rocketry and Space Exploration CONTEST. [CLOSED]
Posted 9 years agoI'm doing this because I love this game so much and it has brought me so much joy over the hundreds and hundreds of hours I have played this game, I want to share it with people who will appreciate it, have wanted it and for whatever reason may not have been able to get it. I'll even help you live over streams and voice to teach you the game. This game breeds so much creativity.

Imagine you are the head of NASA and everybody that works for you willingly steps into whatever ludicrous idea you can come up with. Will you send them off to the heavens to explore the far reaches of the solar system or lead them to their demise in a fiery explosion on the launchpad?
The choice is yours...
What kid didn't want to grow up and be an astronaut at some point in their life?
This game deceptively teaches you rocket science, orbital mechanics and physics among all the wonderful explosions and stunning destinations.
The Trial and Error makes learning the game entertaining and fun! (Lots of explosions and lost Kerbals to be had).
For the first several days of playing, I had an ICBM Factory as opposed to a Space Program. Many Kerbals died. A few Youtube videos later (Thanks Scott Manley!) less Kerbals died and with a grasp on how things worked, they began to prosper.
However, the reward and feeling of accomplishment you get from this game is unlike any other I have ever got from a game.
The community for this game is enormous, friendly and constantly active, Youtubers churning out their own stories, tutorials, successes and failures. Developers creating thousands of mods, Forum users pushing the boundaries with weekly callenges, and more.
In regards to mods; you can add things like:
-New Planets/Moons
-Life Support/Cryogenics
-More parts, more parts, more parts ....oh yes, lots and lots of parts
-Colonization/Habitats/Bases/Space Stations
-Boats/Submarines/Planes/Vehicles and everything inbetween (Even more parts!)
-In game tools to give you all the information you would ever need
-New Missions/Contracts
-Combat/Weapons
-Visual beautifications/eye candy/textures
-Malfunctions/In flight repair and damage control/Emergency Escapes
...and many more.
You can play this game any way you honestly wish and make it your own.
Absolutely Stunning Game 10/10.

Still Alive! -Updates

Long story short; time is ticking down in Japan for me and the workload has been increasing with the military, for reasons. There has been little personal time lately and I haven't been able to draw anything in well over a month. This summer I'll be heading to school in the states for some specialized combat training and then over to the middle east for about a year.
To those who I owe work to, please do send me a note. I thank you for your patience but feel as though things are taking too long to get you your product and can't foresee it being done anytime in the near future. Completely unprofessional on my end. So please do contact me for a refund and I will certainly oblige.

Updates, MFF and Future Changes
Posted 10 years agoAlright, so we're in our final week of big inspections at work and what not that we've been training for and staying late working and all that stuff. This should slightly increase time at home and decrease levels of exhaustion when home.
Means more artwork for you guys! First things first, knocking out what is owed before MFF.
I will be attending MFF after a visit with Family and my Kids. During that time I'd like to dedicate it all to them, so I'll be unavailable for the most part.
Bought my tickets, got a room with a great bunch of guys and gals and everything is set up for MFF.
Last year though I got off a 30 hour flight, jet lagged and with a sleep schedule thrown off by 13 hours. I tried to hang out with everybody who asked and be everywhere at once. This was a bad decision, I ended up making myself sick and utterly exhausted to the point of collapse. Thought being in the military I could handle it... right? Wrong!
Anywho, I'm going to take more of a laid back approach this time. I'll do artist alley a couple days in the mornings (lottery willing) and that'll be my meet and greet time for anyone who wants to introduce themselves, get a sketch and all that. Take-home work will be available. Other than that, outside the Alley is chill time. I'll be happy to do trades and stuff but I'm not going to be running around like last time. More of a go-with-the-flow and if you want me, come to me approach. I'll float around as I see fit, so please don't be offended if I miss your party. There are some close friends last year I still feel horrible about statusing and I apologize profusely. This is my one vacation a year and I'm going to have the best time I can.
...which reminds me I need a MFF meme thingy...
I'm also planning on doing away with the RNG/Wheel of Random method for Streams. Spoke with an artist who has another method that is a lot more fair and pretty much guarantees everybody a slot. They encouraged me to take it and use it. More on that in the future.

I'm gonna be heading out on deployment here real soon, but of course I'll be taking my art supplies with me.
The New:
This time, I'd like to do some FREE drawings for people. They may be sketches, they may be full color, who knows. Depends on how much time I have and some other factors. So! I'd like you to put your ideas/references etc. below. Tell me as much or as little as you want and be sure to include references to the character, poses, clothes, anything you'd like. The More the better. You may throw my characters into your ideas if you wish.
Please keep in mind that if you make edits or changes to your post, I probably wont see it, so what I take with me is what I have.
I'll pick them as I feel, based on mood, interest and whatnot. (So make it interesting for me ^_~ *hint*) Please keep in mind this is completely for free and I will upload them to twitter https://twitter.com/TabyKatArt and/or Tumblr http://tabykatart.tumblr.com via camera-phone when I have internet or signal. [Update 06AUG15] Nevermind, gotta go provide Humanitarian Relief to Saipan. Dont know what this does to the Schedule.
[Update 09AUG15] Disaster Relief continues in Saipan. Feels good to bleed, sweat, and exhaust yourself for people in need. Please forgive my lack of working on requests.

Back to Japan
Posted 10 years agoToday is my last full day in the US, although it's been short and extremely busy. I accomplished a lot and got to see some people I have been missing. Brother is recovering remarkably, thank you all for your well wishes. Tomorrow morning I fly out back to Japan and then its back to work on Monday like usual, so prepare for my +13 hour shift in activity.
