Thank you everyone for your awesome comments and provocative statements! I want to answer everyone's questions, and because I need to work, I needed to pull the plug on that entry so I wouldn't have to respond to a ton of new things overnight.

Just don't. I've seen this on tons and tons of journals. I can't say I speak for everyone (as if I said ALL artists hated this, a few people would immediately screech at me for including them in the collective "they"), but it is rather annoying when an artist really does need money, they get comments, get excited that they'll have art to draw, and it's another person proclaiming that they have no funds (and in one case, couldn't take the thirty seconds to sign up for a free auction account).

Just refrain from commenting and enjoy the work that's already in the gallery. So much of it is free! If you must comment about your lack of funds, it would be nice if you truly are interested to just mention when you would be able to pay for a commission and ask if the artist would be willing to take payment then, or when the artist might be open next. Furry art is dirt cheap in many cases, and if you're too young to have access to an account to buy a $5 spooge picture, what are you doing on a porn site?

If you'd rather not or cannot possibly afford a commission, the people trying to get money through this fandom don't need to hear it. And if those people don't want to be included in this, well. Just don't do it to me! Thanks.

Well! Changes are afoot. I'm moving from New York back to my home state. I now have an agent, and I'm working with him to get books to illustrate, and to publish one of my own children's books. This is why I haven't been around much.

Problem with that is, I don't see that meshing with adult furry art, I'm just not comfortable with it. So no more X-rated stuff (or even R-rated at this point? I'm not sure...) for awhile, except in private commissions where I will not post the work.

I will finish up the Studfinder book, but it's going to be relatively tame pinups and nudes. I assure you, it's still going to be sexy.

Well, mostly! Had my senior show tonight, and it went swimmingly. I sold about $500 worth of art, got a ton of complements, and so on and so forth. I had a lovely time, and I no longer have school work to take up time until I move to a new home and begin my new job, which is, thankfully, in illustration. I love monsters. And I love movies, and I adore animation.

Sooo, why is it that when people try to mesh several different stories or mythologies that it can suck so hard?

I loved the Darkstalker games because they had monsters from different mythologies that you could have beat the shit out of one another, and some of my favorites! A great werewolf, a catwoman, a sasquatch (which was rather cute), a really nifty merman, an interestingly designed Frankenstein's monster, a mummy, and your general vampires, including a succubus. But also Chinese vampires, and a sinister little Red Riding Hood, a queen bee, and haunted samurai armor. This was pretty nifty. But the animations were pretty bad. With all those great possibilities, you'd think they'd be able to use more than six characters regularly, indluding the least interesting of all of them. Repeatedly. And too many monologues. At least two female characters are strong protagonists, which is a point in the four-part series' favor.

The American animation is likely far worse than the Japanese one, but I haven't seen it since I was like... eight. I do recall that characters did get more screen time than just being beaten to hell for five seconds in an opening sequence, but also a character not from the game, who was a young wizard. Oh, and the nearly naked catwoman is wearing a bra rather than being, you know, pretty much nude.

Now, onto Van Helsing. I thought that it had great potential (and Hugh Jackman!) but again, bad acting and stupid story killed what had good potential. I own the movie, but mostly because the werewolves are beautifully done. But, like in the horrible "Underworld", they seem to be stickyspiderwolves. I have no idea where the idea that werewolves should be able to stick to walls and ceilings came about. I prefer the Ginger Snaps version, where trucks make them explode and the symptoms of lycanthropy can be confused with the onset of puberty. If only they had Van Helsing's budget to make the werewolves in that series of movies!

At least there's Hellboy, which gives good story and interesting monsters with pretty, pretty art. I can't wait for THAT movie to come out this summer! And also, Pan's Labyrinth. I loved the character designs, the story was beautiful, and it's one of the few movies with subtitles that I can't get enough of.

If you have any suggestions for good combinations of mythology that were forged into a good movie or book, do let me know!

If your character is a canine male without too many bells and whistles (such as nine tails, rainbows everywhere, or wings), you may very well be able to be part of this project! Please specify the level of nudity you would like as well, or suggestions for poses if you make it in.
