Flipping Horizontally
Posted 3 months agoIn Procreate, I just discovered a quick and easy to flip my artwork horizontally. Now to a non-artist, they won’t see the point of flipping an image horizontally repeatedly. However to an artist, this can be a mission critical tool, especially to an artist with vision problems and corrective lenses induces unwanted distortion into the artwork. Flipping the art in progress back and forth repeatedly and frequently will allow the artist to see the unwanted distortions and correct them before the art is finished. This is a huge reason why art by good artists look balanced instead of skewed or crooked. What this means now that I discovered a quick and easy way to flip horizontally is starting with the current art I’m working on, my art will look allot more balanced and less skewed. It should make a noticeable difference for the better in the quality of my work.
Shingles Vaccine
Posted 3 months agoAt the moment I feel like crap due to getting my Shingles Vaccine. So I'm taking a day or too off from art. I will get back to it when I feel better as I want to maintain this art streak Im on.
As crappy as the Shingles vaccine makes you feel for a couple of days, do it if you are 50 or older. I saw first hand my dad suffer from a case of the shingles back in 2013. It look like somebody cooked his face with a flame thrower at point blank ramge. Its the one of the very rare instances where he was unable to mask the pain and missery he was in with his typical dad humor. So it was really painful for him. Spare yourself from that level of pain..... PLEASE!

Complex art in the works.
Posted 3 months agoThe current art project is gonna take longer than usual to complete. Its mainly due to the art calling for a very complex background that's pushing my skills to the limit. Thats a good thing though because I want to get better at doing backgrounds and the only way to get better is to push my skills to the limits. Im hoping to be done in a couple of days.
Manage Anxuety with Breathing Exercises
Posted 4 months agoNow first things first, I’m just a chipmunk, not a mental health care professional. However I do know that waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many of we furries suffer mental and emotional issues that include anxiety issues. If that describes you, then as a person that is diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I feel for you. Now somebody that does not suffer any forms of anxiety issues outside of the occasional stress for a hard day on the job or bickering with members of your houshold, they will most likely dismiss anxiety as just stress and tell people that have some serious anxiety issues to suck it up butter cup. Okay fine. You have to be in somebody else’s shoes to really understand them, aka empathy, somthing that most of your NPC’s tend to lack.
Anyway. For those that suffer anxiety issues rather its symptom of another more fundamental mental health issue or, like me is the the issue in of itself, let me tell you you are not alone in knowing full well how incidents anxiety can be. You don’t deal with stress very well. A small bump in the road becomes an existential threat. It strips you of your self confidence and prevents you from exploring and trying new situations, to expand your horizons. You are a prisoner of being within your comfort zone where there is certainty and little to not risk taking. Also becuase you can’t deal with stress very well and afraid to venture outside your own comfort zone anxiety can strip you of your self esteem. Worst of all becuase you tend to keep the peace at all cost just to keep anxiety from going into panic attacks, you are liable to stand up for yourself nor set boundaries making you a push over to those who see you as nothing more than a tool to suit them, to hell with your feelings.
Well for me Generalized Anxiety Disorder and ADHD which anxiety is also a symptom of are the two demons that screwed me over from most of my life, had striped me of my self worth, and made me easily exploitable to others. So when I say I feel for you, I mean it. The hell my anxiety problems put me through is something I want no one not even those who hurt me to have to deal with every day of their lives.
Even though to really get a handle on anxiety issues stemming from mental and emotional health issues you really need to seek out a mental health care professional for help, what I can and will do here is teach you some breathing exercises that have been a massive help to me in my efforts to get on top of my anxiety issues and stay on top of them. I have been doing these breathing exercises for a few months and the difference in my ability to manage my issues is night and day. My creative spark has come back as you can see in the art blitz I have been banging out here and my Fur Affinity galleries, and my ability to tackle some challenging situations calmly and with a bit more grace. Also its help me become far more resistant to drama, a virtue that is pretty much a REQUIRMENT in this wacky world of furry of ours and dealing with the eternal September called the Internet.
Now onto the breathing exercises.
1. Find a peaceful quiet space. The big thing you need to do is find a peaceful quiet space AWAT from your own home where everyday life happens. In my case it’s a 150 year old Roman Catholic Church a few blocks from my house. However any quiet space like the reading rooms of a public library will work very well. For me I prefer the nearby Catholic Church since I am also working on healing my spirit from past trauma. Plus Catholic Churches especially old ones are beautiful spaces and make perfect settings for breathing exercises and meditations.
2. You need to do breathing exercises at least every week day for a half hour to 45 minutes each day for maximum effect. Remember when I said it takes allot of work to get ontop of anxiety. This is why. But if you want to take back control of yourself and your life from anxiety, then you got to get your hands dirty.
3. And lastly before I get into the breathing exercises themselves, you need to remember and religiously require the following, what is outside that peaceful quiet space you select STAYS OUTSIDE THAT SPACE!!!!! That space is your sanctuary, your fortress. No day to day issues, no internet dramas, no politics, no nothing is to pass through the walls of that space, no exceptions becuase this space is yours and yours alone to utilize for HEALING and for the breathing exercises.
Now one to the breathing exercises.
1. DON’T JUST WALK IN!!! YOU ENTER!!! Enter the space. Rather its a church like what I utilize or a secular space like the reading room in a public library, the moment you step through that door, you treat the space as sacred because as long as you are in there that space is your temple, a temple to your healing, to your mind heart and soul. If it is a church you utilize, it is a place were God is where you talk to him and welcome him into your mind body and soul to help you heal. So enter that space and seat yourself reverently and in a meditative way. If you are in a Catholic Church like I go into, do your best on church etiquette like genuflecting or bowing before the altar (during service) or the tabernacle (That fancy gold box behind the altar) or the red candle (marking the direction of a nearby tabernacle) Also anything you do, do so reverently and profusely (church) or medatatively (secular space). Maintain silence at all times in church or secular space.
2. SLOW BREATHING…..The first thing to do after you are seated is to calm yourself and clear your mind. Breathing slowly inhale through your nose, filling your lungs with as much air as you can socking up the peace and quiet. Then exhale through you mouth exhaling out your stresses and toxicity. Repeat this slope breathing for a few minutes or as long as need be until you start feeling relaxed as compered to how you normally feel.
3. SQUARE BREATHING….. Square breathing is one of the vital parts of the breathing exercises. This forces you to slow down and declutters your mind. It’s a way to force your mind to disengage from the stresses that works up your anxiety. You are really suppose to do square breathing as a copping mechanism when you start feeling your anxiety flailing up….AND YOU SHOULD do this every time your feel your anxiety ramping up. Built it also works extremely well as a part of these breathing exercises to help calm yourself self and your mind for the next parts of these exercises.
After getting to a relaxed state in step 2 start the square breathing. Here is the overall structure of square breathing. You count 1,2,3,4 as your inhale, then 2,2,3,4 as your hold your breath, then 3,2,3,4 as you exhale through your mouth, then 4,2,3,4 as you rest with empty lungs. Then you repeat this square breathing over and over again for 5-10 minutes. Trust me 5-15 minutes of square breath is a calming thing.
4. Tensing and Relaxing muscle groups….. After the Square breathing take a couple of slow deep breaths like in step 2. After that we will tense and relax muscle groups. First tense up you feet and lower legs and count to ten then relax and count to 10 again. Next tense your upper legs count to 10 then relax and count to 10. Next do you arms and shoulders count to 10 and relax and count to ten. Finally tense your tummy, count to ten, relax and count to ten. When you tense up pay close attention to how it feels. When you relax pay close attention to how you feel. What you are doing is, teaching yourself how it feels to be tense and how it feels to relax. Doing the Tensing and relaxing part of the exercises will eventually make you more keen on detecting the warning signs of your anxiety flaring up and enable you to react more quickly control it before it overtakes you.
5. Another round of square breathing. First take a few deep breaths as in step 2 and then spend a few minutes doing another round of square breathing. This step is will help settle you down for the next and most important step.
6. Meditation…. Meditation is before the most important step in the breathing exercises. After step five make sure you are positioned comfortably in your chair or pew. Make sure your back is nice and straight. If you have not already done so, close your eyes and begin the slow breathing as in step 2 as you focus your minds eye on something calming, it could be a stream in the middle of a forest. It could be drifting among the stars. You can also imagine a barrier keeping away the stressors and within that barrier, your own little inner world consisting of everything and every person that brings happiness and joy to you. As your breath inhale that calmness and love revel in those good feeling let them carry you where ever they may carry you. As your exhale let go of your worries and negative things that bother you. Let this respite relax you all over. Meditation is something I’ve learned takes time, many sessions, and PATIENCE to do. But if you do the meditation portion of the exercises along with the the steps leading up to meditation almost every day, you will eventually get to a point to where your mind will literally be still and silent. If you are new to meditation your mind being still and silent may sound strange. It certainly sounded strange to me when I first heard about it. But trust me on this when you are able to to get so deep in meditation that your mind does go still an silent, the feeling is absolutely blissful and it makes such a massive difference in how you perceive the world.
7. Pray… This step is optional for those who are religious or subscribe to a spiritual belief that includes praying. If you are in a Catholic Church go ahead and fold down the kneeler and put it to use as kneeling helps get into a prayerful state. Pray for those you care about. Pray to the deity of your religion for aid, comfort and guidance. You can also just merely connect to the Devine and remain in that state without saying anything. It’s the connection to the Devine that help the soul heal. For those you are not religious, your step 7 is merely to think about those you care about and the end goals you want to achieve or merely just use this time to reflect and contemplate.
8. After Praying and or reflecting, spend this time doing slow breathing like in step to to come to a soft landing. Or if you have done this for awhile and you feel your want to meditate even more especially if your mind and body asks for more meditation, do it.
9. Don’t just leave your space, recess out. Again rather you are in a church or a secular space for as long as you in that space you are in session and your session does not end until you exit through the doors back out into the outside world. So if you are in a church, genuflect or bow and pray fully and reverently your way to the door. If you are in a secular space, quietly and revenrently make your way to the door.
What I just laid out is the breathing exercise regiment I do every week day. This coupled with the medications and therapy I have received have gone a long way in getting my own anxiety issues and my mental, emotional, and spiritual house back in order. I’m still a work in progress so this is by no means a magic bullet cure to anxiety problems. However what I have laid out is a very good tool to snatch myself and my life back from my Generalized Anxiety Disorder and ADHD. I certainly hope this helps you all out there suffering from anxiety issues. I really do, becuase I know from first hand experience how much anxiety problems can rob a person of their life and potential, and how much it hurts knowing how much damage it does. You all deserve better and hopefully I’ve done my p[art to help you all get better.

Posted 4 months agoWell let the good times keep rollin'. Over all things have been on the up and up for me for the past month. And now as a nice bonus, display names are available to us normal FA users instead of just the FA+ club. So it was high time to make my FA account reflect the official name of my 'sona at long last. So finally and from now on you will see me here on FA under my proper furry name, Tamias the Chipmunk!
Noticing the Tempo
Posted 5 months agoIt's been about a month since I really started hammering down on my therapy breathing exercises and meditation and utilizing the nearby Catholic Church for the peace and quiet to do my sessions in. I am starting to become aware of how quickly this world moves, even for a midsized city like Grand Rapids. It's not that I was ever nieve to the quick tempo. Its more of me simply just not give it much reguard because "That's the way it is." But now it's like "Have I been moving this quickly for all my life?" It's weird to explain. So I hope you get the gist of of what I'm saying.

The Chipmunk's Guid to shame free gay sex
Posted 5 months agoOkay I saw a thumbnail of a video in my Youtube feeds titled "Guide to Shame-Free Sex for Gay Men". Well let me give you the simpler and much better guide than click baity long winded mental gymnastics could ever hope to give you. Yes it is hard for us LGBTQ folks to be our selves in a world that tolerates us begrudgingly at best and wants us dead at worse. But here's the deal. If a person is going to hate and berate you over who you fall in love with and what goes on in the privacy of your own bedroom, then that person is a piece of shit not worth your time and energy on. Even if you are as straight as a laser beam, that person would simply find something else to hate you for. So to hell with them! Let them pitch there whinny little bitch fits being butthurt by your fruitiness while you have a jolly good time fucking (or being fucked by) your soulmate. Trust the chipmunk on this. Its really that simple folks.

To all my Canadian friends
Posted 6 months agoTo all my Canadian friends. In light of friction between the US (my country) and Canada, I want to make a clear statement on somthing. I did not vote for Donald Trump nore do I support him and his actions. Despite how things play out between our two nations over the next 4 years, all of my Canadian friends will still be my Canadian friends. I hope that Canadians will not hold the fact Trump is an idiot against Anericans like me who never supported the orange man and never will.

No Obligation to Assholery
Posted 10 months agoI've got allot of people in my circles still feeling down from the Election. So let me address this. First of all I'm still feeling a bit down from it too. It feels like that line Dark Helnet in Spaceballs had said during the final showdown between him and Lonestar. "Evil shall always triumph because good is dumb." Yeah it's clear that this world is full of assholes right now and it seems like they have won. Game Over.
But let me tell you something. Just because this world is full of assholes does NOT mean you are obligated to be one. If somebody says otherwise they are full of as much crap as a manure spreader. You can still fight for a better world. You just need do i in otherways outside of politics. By being the best version of yourself, living by your words and doing good when and where ever you can because given the era we have now entered, doing good will make the difference between a hurting person giving up and becoming yet another asshole and that person finding it within themselves to keep going and making through this night to see the sun rise again.

Disengaging from Politics
Posted 10 months agoI'm going to be disengaging from politics indefinitely. It's not that I don't care. I do care. I do want a world were human dignity and a fare shot at living a gainful meaningful life are the norms. But placing faith in one political party that are the school yard bullies and the other that capitulates before them, rinse and repeat, is not going to solve anything. So I can no longer pin my hopes on false hopes. Instead I am going to focused squarely on my ongoing efforts to be the best iteration of who I am as a person. Here's why.
I don't think the fight for a better world is lost. But this election is a loud and clear message for all to see that our political system is broken because we the people are broken. Depending on Politians, be they Republican or Democrat, is fool's errand because as long as we the people are broken, we will continue to elect school yard bullies and/or false hopes into power.
You can blame corporate media and their propaganda. You can blame the rich and powerful buying elections. You can blame Russia meddling in our elections. You can blame Liberals. You can blame conservatives. You can blame racists, homophobes, misogynists, etc, etc. You can blame snowflakes and cancel culture. You can blame the "Own the lib" types. You can point the finger at anything and anyone and go berserk hating and raging on the subject of your ire all you want. But none of it, not one single bit of it will change the fact that we are a society of broken people and have been for the past 50 years. As long as we are broken, it will continue to be like what the late and great Comedian George Carlin said, "If you have selfish ignorant citizens, you will have selfish ignorant leaders." If this Election is not proof that what Mr. Carlin said is indisputable FACT. Then I really don't know what else to say. Honestly, I just don't.
The point is folks none of us are ever going to get the changes that we need by continuing to place hope and faith on those WE vote into power because at the end of the day WE....PUT....THEM....THERE. We are broken people and thus we elect our fellow broken people into power. How the Hell does anyone with at least one functional neuron in their heads can expect for things to get better if we the people remain broken?
This is yet another reason why I keep saying that a better life for yourself and a better world for others begins with YOU! It begins with each and every one of YOU!! You want that better world and life. You really want that with every fiber of your being. Right? Then stop hedging your bets on broken leaders that we the broken people through our collective ignorance and selfishness have elected.
You can do your part on making a better world by making yourself into a better person, the best person you can be. There is no excuse other than being in a vegetative state not to work on being a kinder, smarter, more understanding, caring person. If you become a better person, you inspire others though your example to become better as well. Then brick by brick we can then build a better world.
Broken leaders elected by broken people are not going to be our saviors no matter how much we think and hope they will be. They never have been and never will be, not as long as we the people remain broken. You want to fight for a better world. Then that fight begins with the work we all need to do to be better people. We become better people, then we are more apt to elect better leaders. That said, disengaging from politics and focusing on living by what I said here, working on being a better person is now my way of fighting for a better world.
As long as we are broken, it will continue to be like what the late and great Comedian George Carlin said, "If you have selfish ignorant citizens, you will have selfish ignorant leaders." Downloading my FA Gallery to local storage.
Posted 10 months agoOkay folks,
As per some advice of wisdom from my eternally awesome friend and my Second Life Region Landlord, I am downloading a copy of my FA gallery to a local storage drive. This is just in case Fur Affinity's future turns out to be a bleak one. I hate like hell to come off as a Doom seeker and that is not my intention. TBH, I do hope for a positive future for Fur Affinity as the loss of this website would be a serious detriment to the Furry Fandom at large. However, given long standing issues with this site that date back to its inception, the passing of 'Neer, and grievances I raised in my previous journal, I have to be grounded it reality no matter how harsh it can be. Reality says FA is in deep trouble more than even the staff and this site's, die hard fans realize. Its best that I have a local copy of the artwork and stories I have posted here thus far. This way I can quickly find another place to set up shop, restore my gallery and quickly pick up where I left off, should the iceberg indeed sinks the ship so to speak.

Re: Section 2.7 Apology
Posted 10 months agoGiven the track record of F'ing up, half hearted corporate spokes person speak, only to F up again, rinse and repeat since this website began, ...and the fact my fiancee was treated like garbage by the admin here a few years ago (which I still hold this place accountable for) I have this to say about the "Apology". Words mean diddly squat to a chipmunk like your's truly. I have been burned by enough people who cannot back their words with substance. So I leaned (admittedly the hard way) to not take mere words at face value.
What does impress me is ACTION. The best Apology that staff can provide to the furry community is cut the corporate spokesman style speak along with its meaningless insincerity and let's see ACTION to turn things around. Let's see the staff here bend over backwards, going as far as to put in a metric F ton of sleepless nights to turn FA into somthing that lives up to the claims of being a welcoming, inclusive place, that fosters creativity.
FA is the number one goto website in the furry fandom. Reguardless if you like FA or Hate this website, Fur Affinity DOES have a huge impact on the fandom. We furries come here to connect with one another, enjoy and create furry content, start furry related businesses. If it's furry, usually it begins and ends here. So what the staff do here DOES EFFECT THE FURRY FANDOM AT LARGE!!!
If FA is a dumpster fire full of drama, infighting, hate, internet trolling, witch hunts, inconsistent enforcement of vague rules, that does not only hurt the folks negatively affected by these shortfalls. It makes the Furry Fandom as a whole a less welcoming place to come to and participate in, alienating folks like my fiancee and several furries I know and driving them away losing the fandom their thoughts and creativity. FA's long standing record of faults has been a major contributor to why the Furry Fandom is seen as being over run by drama and toxic individuals. The staff need to acknowledge this and actually work to change things around here. All of the corporate speak is not going to change that fact.
Staff need to take the fact they have a huge effect on the fandom seriously. The best way to do that is actually working to make FA a better place. As much as I tend to be blunt about how I feel about FA right now I want FA to be better and live up being the creative community it claims to be. I want a simple easy to understand rules with CONSISTANT, IMPARTIAL, enforcement. I want staff to drop the corporate spokesman speak and just be open and honest with users. I want a well coded, secure, easy to use website. I want this not just for myself. I want this for the furry fandom because if FA does well, gets better, and actually lives up to it's mission statements, it would make such a positive difference to the Farry Fandom as a whole and maybe help the fandom go a long way to be a nicer place to be.
There is enough problems in this world. All of we furries came to the furry fandom looking for a respite from all those problems. So why should have to deal with the stresses put on to us in the fandom, allot of which is comming from this very website due to a chronic record of screw ups by the staff through the years? The community here has been made toxic and its weakens the fandom as a whole. FA needs to do allot more than apologize. Staff need to start backing their words with action and actually make good on their words. Otherwise this Apology will be yet another rambling of corporate spokesman speak and the toxic envionment here will continue to hurt the fandom at large.
TL;DR, actions speak louder than words. So let's see genuine action, genuine efforts. If the staff here are as dedicated to this site as it's new owner say they are and more importantly dedicated to the Furry Fandom, then let's see it. Let's see how many sleepless nights, blood, sweat, and tears FA staff will have to put in to improve FA and in turn improve the Furry Fandom. Otherwise talk is cheap.

Some one check in on Wolfee Darkfang
Posted 11 months agoOkay this is a bit unorthodox. But a former friend of mine that use to go by Wolfee Datkfang, Scarasyte, and last contact an MLP fan character called Blackjack, is in the direct path of Herricane Milton that's currently tearing it's way through Florida. Since I am no longer in contact with Wolfee due to reasons, I'm asking anybody out there still in contact with him to check in on him to see if he and his family are okay. Granted we don't see eye to eye on things anymore, I still care about his well being and am a bit worried.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Diagnosed with ADHD
Posted a year agoThe ADHD test results are in. It's official. I have been diagnosed with ADHD, just without the hyperactivity part. The test results are detailed and brutally honest.
There is allot of emotional things I need to digest on. But right now I feel two things. One I am relieved to know what one of the biggest, if not the biggest inner demon in me is and I can start doing somyhing about it at long last. The second thing is I'm humbled just by how brutally honest the report is.
My only real regret right now is I wish this would have been caught in my childhood as catching it that early would have made a drastic difference in my life. But hey, better late than never.

Where to find my furry art
Posted a year agoOkay, folks
Just in case Fur Affinity does not survive Dragoneer's passing, you can find my furry art on my Ink Bunny gallery. Now I understand that many of you don't like that site. However, Inkbunny is best suited for my needs when it comes to UI and functionality.
